Virtual Keyboard:A Real-Time Hand Gesture Recognition-Based Character Input System Using LSTM and Mediapipe Holistic

In the digital age,non-touch communication technologies are reshaping human-device interactions and raising security concerns.A major challenge in current technology is the misinterpretation of gestures by sensors and cameras,often caused by environmental factors.This issue has spurred the need for advanced data processing methods to achieve more accurate gesture recognition and predictions.Our study presents a novel virtual keyboard allowing character input via distinct hand gestures,focusing on two key aspects:hand gesture recognition and character input mechanisms.We developed a novel model with LSTM and fully connected layers for enhanced sequential data processing and hand gesture recognition.We also integrated CNN,max-pooling,and dropout layers for improved spatial feature extraction.This model architecture processes both temporal and spatial aspects of hand gestures,using LSTM to extract complex patterns from frame sequences for a comprehensive understanding of input data.Our unique dataset,essential for training the model,includes 1,662 landmarks from dynamic hand gestures,33 postures,and 468 face landmarks,all captured in real-time using advanced pose estimation.The model demonstrated high accuracy,achieving 98.52%in hand gesture recognition and over 97%in character input across different scenarios.Its excellent performance in real-time testing underlines its practicality and effectiveness,marking a significant advancement in enhancing human-device interactions in the digital age.

Holistic integrative medicine,abbreviated as HIM,has been officially proposed since 2012.Its theoretical system has been continuously improved,and its practical methods have become increasingly diverse,becoming an inevitable choice and path for the medical development in the new era.This article demonstrates ten major propositions for HIM,elaborating on the connotation and extension of HIM fromthe perspectives of epistemology and methodology,in order to achieve the transformation and adaptive evolution of modern medicine.

Bottom-up holistic carrier management strategy induced synergistically by multiple chemical bonds to minimize energy losses for efficient and stable perovskite solar cells

The defects from electron transport layer,perovskite layer and their interface would result in carrier nonradiative recombination losses.Poor buried interfacial contact is detrimental to charge extraction and device stability.Here,we report a bottom-up holistic carrier management strategy induced synergistically by multiple chemical bonds to minimize bulk and interfacial energy losses for high-performance perovskite photovoltaics.4-trifluoromethyl-benzamidine hydrochloride(TBHCl)containing–CF_(3),amidine cation and Cl^(-)is in advance incorporated into SnO_(2)colloid solution to realize bottom-up modification.The synergistic effect of multiple functional groups and multiple-bond-induced chemical interaction are revealed theoretically and experimentally.F and Cl^(-)can passivate oxygen vacancy and/or undercoordinated Sn^(4+)defects by coordinating with Sn^(4+).The F can suppress cation migration and modulate crystallization via hydrogen bond with FA^(+),and can passivate lead defects by coordinating with Pb^(2+).The–NH_(2)–C=NH^(+)_(2)and Cl^(-)can passivate cation and anion vacancy defects through ionic bonds with perovskites,respectively.Through TBHCl modification,the suppression of agglomeration of SnO_(2)nanoparticles,bulk and interfacial defect passivation,and release of tensile strains of perovskite films are demonstrated,which resulted in a PCE enhancement from 21.28%to 23.40%and improved stability.With post-treatment,the efficiency is further improved to 23.63%.

Holistic conditions after colon cancer:A randomized controlled trial of systematic holistic care vs primary care

BACKGROUND Study showed that systemic holistic care not only aids in disease treatment and physical recovery to a certain extent but also effectively enhances patient psychological well-being,social support,and overall quality of life(QoL).AIM To assess systematic holistic care impact on the recovery and well-being of postoperative patients with colon cancer.METHODS Our randomized controlled trial included 98 postoperative patients with colon cancer admitted to our hospital from June 2021 to June 2022.Patients were divided into control and study groups.The control group received conventional postoperative nursing care,whereas the study group received systematic holistic nursing care.We monitored gastrointestinal function recovery,and recorded changes in serum albumin(ALB),prealbumin(PA),psychological state,selfmanagement,self-efficacy,QoL,and the occurrence of complications in patients before,at discharge,and 2 wk post-discharge.Spearman analysis assessed correlations between psychological state,self-management,self-efficacy,and QoL of patients in the study group 2 wk post-discharge.RESULTS Following the nursing intervention,we observed significantly shorter postoperative bowel sound recovery time,anal exhaust time,and defecation time in the study group than in the control group(P<0.05).Patient ALB and PA levels,psychological status,self-management ability,self-efficacy and QoL at discharge and 2 wk post-discharge significantly improved,with greater improvements observed in the study group(P<0.05).Both groups experienced complications post-interventions,but the intervention group had significantly lower complication rate(3/49,6.12%)(P<0.05).In the study group,patient anxiety,depression,self-management and QoL scores at 2 wk post-discharge exhibited a significant negative correlation(3/49,6.12%)with QoL scores,with correlation coefficients of r=-0.273,-0.522,-0.344,and P<0.01,respectively.Conversely,patient self-efficacy scores 2 wk postdischarge showed a positive correlation with QoL scores(r=0.410,P=0.000).CONCLUSION Systemic holistic nursing significantly benefits postoperative patients with colon cancer by promoting gastrointestinal recovery,improving post-operation well-being,reducing complications,and enhancing QoL.

The Significance of Constructing TCM Psychosomatic Medicine from the Holistic View of the Unity of Nature and Man

With the development of medical technology, the problem of fragmentation of medical research has become increasingly prominent, and a series of iatrogenic diseases, drug-induced diseases and drug toxicity and side effects have resulted in an increase in the number of diseases. In the face of these problems, the medical concept has been re-examined and re-thought. The concept of the holistic view of the unity of nature and man in traditional Chinese medicine has certain enlightenment for dealing with the problems in the current medical development. Based on the holistic view of the unity of nature and man, the overall connection between human’s heart and body and nature is explained, and the further construction of TCM psychosomatic medicine is conducive to guiding the diagnosis and treatment of clinical diseases, and providing new enlightenment for the current medical concept thinking and clinical disease research.

A holistic strategy for quality and safety control of traditional Chinese medicines by the “iVarious” standard system

An effective quality control system is the key to ensuring the quality, safety and efficacy of traditional Chinese medicines(TCMs). However, the current quality standard research lacks top-level design and systematic design,mostly based on specific technologies or evaluation methods. To resolve the challenges and questions of quality control of TCMs, a brand-new quality standard system, named "iVarious", was proposed. The system comprises eight elements in a modular format. Meaning of every element was specifically illustrated via corresponding research instances. Furthermore, frankincense study was taken as an example for demonstrating standards and research process, based on the "i Various" system. This system highlighted a holistic strategy for effectiveness,security, integrity and systematization of quality and safety control standards of TCMs. The establishment of"i Various" integrates multi-disciplinary technologies and progressive methods, basis elements and key points of standard construction. The system provides a novel idea and technological demonstration for regulation establishment of TCMs quality standards.

Holistic Service-Based Architecture for Space-Air-Ground Integrated Network for 5G-Advanced and Beyond

The Service-based Architecture(SBA) is one of the key innovations of 5G architecture that leverage modularized, self-contained and independent services to provide flexible and cloud-native 5G network. In this paper, SBA for Space-Air-Ground Integrated Network(SAGIN) is investigated to enable the 5G integration deployment. This paper proposes a novel Holistic Service-based Architecture(H-SBA)for SAGIN of 5G-Advanced and beyond, i.e., 6G. The H-SBA introduces the concept of end-to-end servicebased architecture design. The "Network Function Service", introduced in 5G SBA, is extended from Control Plane to User Plane, from core network to access network. Based on H-SBA, the new generation of protocol design is proposed, which proposes to use IETF QUIC and SRv6 to substitute 5G HTTP/2.0 and GTP-U. Testing results show that new protocols can achieve low latency and high throughput, making them promising candidate for H-SBA.

TwigStack^+:Holistic Twig Join Pruning Using Extended Solution Extension

XML has been used extensively in many applications as a de facto standard for information representation and exchange over internet. Huge volumes of data are organized or exported in tree-structured form and the desired information can be got by traversing the whole tree structure using a twig pattern query. A new definition, Extended Solution Extension, is proposed in this paper to check the usefulness of an element from both forward and backward directions. Then a novel Extended Solution Extension based algorithm, TwigStack^＋, is also proposed to reduce the query processing cost, simply because it can check whether other elements can be processed together with the current one. Compared with existing methods, query evaluation cost can be largely reduced. The experimental results on various datasets indicate that the proposed algorithm performs significantly better than the existing ones.

Genre Effect on L2 Syntactic Complexity and Holistic Rating for Writing Quality of Intermediate EFL Learners

This exploratory study examines whether genre has an impact on syntactic complexity and holistic rating in EFL writing. Over 300 sample texts produced by intermediate learners were collected from a test and some regular after-class assignments for English writing courses. Each participant completed two writing tasks, one argumentative and the other narrative. Results show that genre type has a significant impact on L2 syntactic complexity. Genre effect is found stronger with timed writing tasks. L2 holistic ratings show correlation with syntactic complexity on the different measure(s) depending on genre type and planning conditions. Regression analyses reveal that for timed writing tasks, clausal density(clauses per sentence) is a reliable predictor for holistic assessment on intermediate EFL learners’ writing quality. It is found to account for 6% of the score variance for timed writing and 10% for timed argumentative writing. Genre is evidenced to be related to EFL writing holistic ratings. Closer examination indicates that while syntactic complexity is predictive of holistic writing scores for argumentative writing, it does not correlate with holistic scores for narrative writing. Other linguistic features rather than syntactic complexity may be accountable. Overall, the study lends support to genre effect in the relationship between syntactic complexity and L2 writing quality holistic rating.

A Survey Towards Holistic Management of Schizophrenia

Holistic management of schizophrenia involves main stream pharmacological intervention,complimentary medicine intervention,therapeutic intervention,and other psychosocial factors,such as accommodation,education,job training,employment,relationship,friendship,exercise,overall well-being,smoking,substance abuse,suicide prevention,stigmatisation,recreation,entertainment,violent behaviour,arrangement of public trusteeship and guardianship,day-day-living skill,integration with community,management of overweight due to medications,and other health complications related to medications amongst others.Our review shows that there is no integrated survey by combining all these factors.We are conducting an international web based survey to evaluate the significance of all these factors and present them in a unified manner.We believe this investigation will contribute positively towards holistic management of schizophrenia.There will be two surveys.In the pharmacological intervention survey,five popular drugs for schizophrenia will be chosen and their efficacy as well as harmful side effects will be evaluated in a scale of 0-10.This survey will be done by psychiatrists.In the second survey,each element of therapeutic intervention and psychosocial factors will be evaluated according to their significance in a scale of 0-10.This survey will be done by care givers,psychologists,case managers,and case workers.For the first survey,we will contact the professional bodies of the psychiatrists in English speaking countries and request them to ask their members to participate in the survey.For the second survey,we will contact the professional bodies of clinical psychologist and care givers in English speaking countries and request them to ask their members to participate in the survey.Additionally for both the surveys,we will contact the relevant professionals through personal contact networks.For both the surveys,mean,mode,median,standard deviation,and net promoter score will be calculated for each factor and presented then in a statistically significant manner.Subsequently,each factor will be ranked according to their statistical significance.Additionally,country specific variation will be highlighted to identify the variation pattern.The results of these surveys will identify the relative significance of each type of pharmacological intervention,each type of therapeutic intervention,and each type of psychosocial factor.The determination of this relative importance will definitely contribute to the improvement in quality of life for individuals with schizophrenia.

Applying Humboldt’s holistic perspective in China’s sustainability

Alexander von Humboldt,was a great German geobotanist,educator and naturalist who greatly influenced sci-ence and humanities for more than two hundred years.In addition to scientific contributions(such as the un-derstanding of vegetation distribution,the concepts of isotherm and pressure contours,and the initial concept of continental drift theory),he firmly believed in the concept of the interconnection of everything and the method-ological approach of a holistic perspective to development,which has significance in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals,because they include both synergy and trade-offs among these goals.China has undergone tremendous changes since its reform and opening up in 1978 and now faces severe challenges in sustainable de-velopment.The scientific methods applied by Chinese scientists in sustainability fulfil the Humboldtian holistic perspective of nature.Here I provide four successful cases and their significant implications for addressing the increasingly severe water shortage,biological conservation,and conflicts between human well-being and land.The four examples discussed in this article are enlightened to establish a strong,just,and influential government and require empirical research to implement sustainable development plans.I believe that it’s vital to encourage and supervise public participation for a successful program;for example,the participants should not be restricted to project executors,i.e.,farmers or workers,but also students and scientists.Eradicating poverty must be priori-tized,and well-being is the ultimate goal for sustainable development.This review article provides an extremely valuable reference for other developing or even developed countries to address sustainability challenges.

Multidisciplinary Holistic Assessment in Diagnosis and Therapy of Autism

Introduction:The medical test for autism is not clearly defined.Diagnosis is based on observation of behavior and educational and psychological testing,as well as medical and laboratory analyses of various specialties.Since symptoms of autism vary,pathways leading to diagnosis are also different.It is important to know that autism is not one disorder with a unique cause.Autism is most likely the cause of combinations of genetic risk factors with risk factors from the environment.In addition to common behavioral changes,we can expect epilepsy,gastrointestinal disorders,food intolerance,sleep disorders,and sensory integration disorders.Aims:to reveal the importance of multidisciplinary and holistic approach in the diagnosis of autism,the spectrum of autistic behavior of children and medical comorbidity,with the aim of creating integrative therapy and rehabilitation by personalized holistic multidisciplinary treatment.Methods:Multidisciplinary holistic diagnostic approach to health assessment was used in 21 patients with diagnosis of autism.In the health assessment,medical,integrative procedures,laboratory analyses were used.The results were statistically processed and analyzed.Result:The protocol enrolled 21 children in the“Dunji?holistic practice”.All children came with diagnosis of autism.The youngest child was 3 years old and the oldest 16 years old.Distribution by experiment was in favor of male children 95%.In 65%of subjects,there were some kind of allergies,14.2%autoimmune diseases,epilepsy in 9.5%,developmental disorders at 19.0%.Laboratory tests show different results and deviations from normal values,thyroid gland disorders TSH and T3,fT3,hyperprolactinemia results in 23.5%,increased oxytocin at 14.2%,osteocalcin in 28.5%of subjects.Viral infections of CMV,EBV and Herpes zoster were recorded at 9.5%.Conclusion:Holistic protocol in diagnosis and treatment of autism plays a significant role in the multidisciplinary therapeutic treatment.Integrative approach and procedures achieve homeostasis and internal potential for success and behavioral and medical therapy.It is necessary to do research projects on some laboratory analyses that can be indicators of an early stage of autism.Early intervention has always been the key to healing in the highest percentage.

COMMENTS ON THE HOLISTIC ACTION OF ACUPUNCTURE IN VIEW OF ITS INFLUENCE ON NERVE-ENDOCRINE-IMMUNE NETWORK

In the present paper, the author makes some comments on the holistic action of acupuncture from the regulative effect on the nerve-endocrine-immune network, and the close relationship between the nerve-endocrine-immune network and the meridian-collateral system of TCM. The wholism concept of TCM refers to the organism being an integrated entirety, and the regulatory effect of acupuncture on functional activities of the organism relies on the integral connection of the acupoint-meridian-collateral-zangfu-organ system. When stimulated with acupuncture, the human body will brings its potential force into full play in preventing and treating diseases.

Enhancing medical-imaging artificial intelligence through holistic use of time-tested key imaging and clinical parameters:Future insights

Much of the published literature in Radiology-related Artificial Intelligence(AI)focuses on single tasks,such as identifying the presence or absence or severity of specific lesions.Progress comparable to that achieved for general-purpose computer vision has been hampered by the unavailability of large and diverse radiology datasets containing different types of lesions with possibly multiple kinds of abnormalities in the same image.Also,since a diagnosis is rarely achieved through an image alone,radiology AI must be able to employ diverse strategies that consider all available evidence,not just imaging information.Using key imaging and clinical signs will help improve their accuracy and utility tremendously.Employing strategies that consider all available evidence will be a formidable task;we believe that the combination of human and computer intelligence will be superior to either one alone.Further,unless an AI application is explainable,radiologists will not trust it to be either reliable or bias-free;we discuss some approaches aimed at providing better explanations,as well as regulatory concerns regarding explainability(“transparency”).Finally,we look at federated learning,which allows pooling data from multiple locales while maintaining data privacy to create more generalizable and reliable models,and quantum computing,still prototypical but potentially revolutionary in its computing impact.

Holistic Acupuncture approach to idiopathic refractory nausea,abdominal pain and bloating

AIM： To evaluate the effectiveness of a holistic acupuncture approach on nausea, pain, bloating and electrogastrogram （EGG） parameters in patients with intractable symptoms.METHODS： Twelve patients with no or mild nausea （those without nausea had bloating or pain） and 10 with a histool of moderate to severe nausea were referred for acupuncture. All underwent an EGG and were treated at acupuncture points PC6, SP4 and DU20. Visual analog scales （VAS） assessing severity of nausea, pain and bloating were obtained before and after acupuncture treatment. Nineteen patients received three and three patients received two treatments.RESULTS： VAS scores for nausea reflected the clinical assessment and differed significantly between mild and moderate/severe nausea groups. Acupuncture significantly improved severity of nausea in both groups with improved pre-treatment nausea between the first and third treatments in the moderate/severe nausea group. Pain scores improved with acupuncture in the mild nausea group only and bloating improved only with the first treatment in this group. Patients with bloating with VAS scores greater than 35 pre-treatment improved with acupuncture and over all VAS scores for pain improved with treatment. Acupuncture increased the power in the 2.7 to 3.5 cpm range in the EGG.CONCLUSION： In this uncontrolled clinical study, a holistic acupuncture approach significantly improved nausea in patients with refractory symptoms and increased the power in the 2,7-3,5 cpm component of the electrogastrogram, Bloating and pain VAS scores improved acutely with treatment, This study suggests that acupuncture may be effective in this refractory group of patients and further study using appropriate controls is warranted,

A holistic approach to creating a new yangtze river basin protection legislation

The protection of the Yangtze River Basin is a top priority in China,and the National People's Congress(NPC)Standing Committee has started to draft a new protection legislation specifically for the Yangtze River Basin.The Basin forms the epicenter of environmental,social,and economic life.Any efforts to protect the Basin must accommodate several competing interests from a multiplicity of interested parties and stakeholders such as local governments,villages,and business enterprises.Current relevant institutions and organizations are unable to sufficiently ensure environmental protection and green development in the Basin.The NPC Standing Committee must thus adopt a more holistic approach when creating new protection legislations aimed at the Yangtze River Basin.

Holistic care for patients with severe coronavirus disease 2019: An expert consensus

Objective:To standardize the holistic care for patients with severe coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)in China.Methods:The consensus was preliminarily formed by combining relevant literature findings and frontline medical working experiences,and it was eventually confirmed by five rounds of online discussions and expert consultations.Results:This consensus included nursing assessment,nursing priorities,nursing goals,and thirteen key points of nursing procedures such as oxygen therapy and respiratory nursing,etc.Conclusion:This scientific and practical consensus guideline can provide clinical guidance on the holistic nursing care of patients with severe COVID-19.

Holistic care model of time-sharing management for severe and critical COVID-19 patients

The rapid global outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)and the surge of infected patients have led to the verge of exhaustion of critical care medicine resources worldwide,especially with regard to critical care staff.A holistic care model on time-sharing management for severe and critical COVID-19 patients is proposed,which includes formulation of individualized care objectives and plans,identification of care tasks in each shift and making detailed checklist,and management of quality of care.This study was conducted in the COVID-19 treatment center of Harbin,Heilongjiang Province.The data collected from the treatment center were recorded and analyzed.From the results we can deduce that it is especially suitable for non-intensive care unit(non-ICU)nurses to adapt care management mode of ICU as soon as possible and ensure the quality and efficiency of care during the epidemic.The holistic care model on time-sharing management for severe and critical cases with COVID-19 proposed based on our daily work experiences can assist in improving the quality and efficiency of care,thus reducing the mortality rate of patients in ICU.

Towards a Holistic Place Branding Model:A Conceptual Model Proposal

This paper proposes a comprehensive and integrative model which will contribute to a successful place branding.The new model is proposed based on the analysis of 30 previous place branding models and enriched by the literature review.The result of this work is the conceptual model that offers a more global perspective of place branding and consists of the following 11 interrelated elements:place,brand leadership,community stakeholders engagement,brand vision,brand architecture,brand identity,brand communications,brand image,brand experience,brand actions and brand evaluation,which must be incorporated into any place branding model as they prove to be relevant and play a strategic role in the branding process.They are essential for place brand development and management,and represent key success factors of place brands.The research implications are to give researchers a guide for literature development,theory building,and future research.The practical implications are to offer practitioners,professionals,local officials,and even governments a model that explains the place branding process to effectively create and manage a place brand.Unlike previous models which take different perspectives on the branding process,this one is holistic as it encompasses(almost)all of them.The new model highlights also new elements that do not appear in the previous ones.
