Under extreme loading condition,a shelter will provide a safe place to protect people from injury caused by blast wave and fragments.In order to save resource and reuse waste materi-als,a new design concept for blast ...Under extreme loading condition,a shelter will provide a safe place to protect people from injury caused by blast wave and fragments.In order to save resource and reuse waste materi-als,a new design concept for blast protection shelter was explored.The new construction was composed of I-section steel panel or C-channel steel panel filled with recycled concrete aggregate.The compaction process of the recycled concrete aggregate filled in the steel construction was ex-perimentally investigated.A single storey shelter based on the proposed design concept was nu-merically simulated by using LS-DYNA software.In the 3D numerical model,three walls were de-signed using I-section steel and one wall using C-channel steel,and all of the four walls were filled with recycled concrete aggregate.The penetration analysis was done by using ConWep.Some penetration tests were also carried out by using a gas gun.It is found that the proposed shelter based on the design concept is effective for blast protection.展开更多

In this study, steel hollow spheres were successfully manufactured using an advanced powder metallurgy technique. The spheres' shells were characterized by optical microscopy in conjunction with microstructural image analysis software, scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX), and X-ray diffraction(XRD). The microscopic evaluations revealed that the shells consist of sintered iron powder, sintered copper powder, sodium silicate, and porosity regions. In addition, the effects of copper content on various parameters such as shell defects, microcracks, thickness, and porosities were investigated. The results indicated that increasing the copper content results in decreases in the surface fraction of shell porosities and the number of microcracks and an increase in shell thickness.展开更多

Direct strain measurement was performed by applying str...Gives a new technique to measure the dynamic deformation behavior and strain development of a hollow steel projectile during its penetration of concrete targets. Direct strain measurement was performed by applying strain gages attached to the inner walls of the hollow projectile, linked with on-board testing and storage recorder. This on-board test-record system is easy to operate, cost-effective and can provide reasonable, accurate and detailed information. Obverse ballistic experiments were carried out on ogival-nose hollow projectiles normally impacting concrete targets at velocities from 150 m/s to 300 m/s. The deformation process of projectiles was measured, recorded and played back. Profiles of voltage-time relationship were successively obtained and transfered to strain-time relationship with the aid of calibration tables. It was found that projectiles go through a series of compression and tension deformations intermittently. Relationships between strain development and projectile deformation process were discussed.展开更多
