CPM systems display KPIs in forms of scorecard and dashboard so the executives can keep track and evaluate corporate performance. The quality of the information as shown in the KPIs is very crucial for the executives to make the right decisions. Therefore, it is important that the executives must be able to retrieve not only the KPIs but also the quality of those KPIs before using such KPIs in their strategic decisions. The objectives of this study were to determine the role of the CPM system in the organizations, current data and information quality state, problems and perspectives regarding data quality, as well as data quality maturity stage of the organizations. Survey research was used in this study; a questionnaire was sent to collect data from 477 corporations listed in the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) on January, 2011. Forty-nine questionnaires were returned. The results show that about half of the organizations have implemented CPM systems. Most organizations are confident in the information in CPM system, but information quality issues are commonly found. Frequent problems regarding information quality are information not up to date, information not ready by time of use, inaccuracy and incomplete. The most concerned and frequently assessed quality dimensions were security, accuracy, completeness, and validity. When asked to prioritize, the most important quality dimensions are accuracy, timeliness, completeness, security, and validity respectively. In addition, most organizations concern about data govemance management and have deployed such measures. This study showed that most organizations are on level 4 on Gartner's data governance maturity stage in which data governance is concerned and managed, but still not effective.展开更多

It is well known that hospital resources are distributed with private property rights among hospitals, such as in the case of the regional coordination of medical services. In this study, to integrate and make full use of medical data effectively, we propose a data warehouse modeling method for the hospital information system. The method can also be employed for a distributed-hospital medical service system. Methods To ensure that hospital information supports the diverse needs of health care, the framework of the hospital information system has three layers: datacenter layer, system-function layer, and user-interface layer. This paper discusses the role of a data warehouse management system in handling hospital information from the establishment of the data theme to the design of a data model to the establishment of a data warehouse. Online analytical processing tools assist user-friendly multidimensional analysis from a number of different angles to extract the required data and information. Results Use of the data warehouse improves online analytical processing and mitigates deficiencies in the decision support system. The hospital information system based on a data warehouse effectively employs statistical analysis and data mining technology to handle massive quantities of historical data, and summarizes from clinical and hospital information for decision making. Conclusions This paper proposes the use of a data warehouse for a hospital information system, specifically a data warehouse for the theme of hospital information to determine latitude, modeling and so on. The processing of patient information is given as an example that demonstrates the usefulness of this method in the case of hospital information management. Data warehouse technology is an evolving technology, and more and more decision support information extracted by data mining and with decision-making technology is required for further research.展开更多

It focuses on understanding the customer′s (both management and employees) requirements for the PAS in order to prioritize and simplify the basic elements of the appraisal system and implementation process. The improved process is defined by performance planning, counseling and evaluation with assessments for individual, team and management contributions. In addition, reducing the rating scale to three categories should facilitate a very positive evaluation process for most employees and still allow a constructive focus on those individuals that must be improved. Finally, if people come first in the TQM organization, then the personnel systems must reflect this philosophy.展开更多

Intelligence refers to learning, adap- tation, and functionality, and robustness refers to the ability to handle incomplete and/or corrupt adversarial information, on one side, and image and or device variability, on the other side. The proposed methodology is model-free and non-parametric. It draws support from discriminative methods using likelihood ratios to link at the conceptual level biometrics and forensics. It further links, at the modeling and implementation level, the Bayesian framework, statistical learning theory (SLT) using transduction and semi-supervised lea- rning, and Information Theory (IY) using mutual information. The key concepts supporting the proposed methodology are a) local estimation to facilitate learning and prediction using both labeled and unlabeled data;b) similarity metrics using regularity of patterns, randomness deficiency, and Kolmogorov complexity (similar to MDL) using strangeness/typicality and ranking p-values;and c) the Cover – Hart theorem on the asymptotical performance of k-nearest neighbors approaching the optimal Bayes error. Several topics on biometric inference and prediction related to 1) multi-level and multi-layer data fusion including quality and multi-modal biometrics;2) score normalization and revision theory;3) face selection and tracking;and 4) identity management, are described here using an integrated approach that includes transduction and boosting for ranking and sequential fusion/aggregation, respectively, on one side, and active learning and change/ outlier/intrusion detection realized using information gain and martingale, respectively, on the other side. The methodology proposed can be mapped to additional types of information beyond biometrics.展开更多

This paper explores the existing literature and a proposed framework that consists of ISD such as information security plans, information security awareness, perceived quality training programs, information security policies and procedures, and organizational culture in ISM implementation. ISD factors are found to be statistically significant, because it motivates an organization to implement effective ISM in the banks. Hence, it could be said that the role of ISD practices in an effective implementation of ISM among banks in Nigeria will be of great value.展开更多

It is a matter of priority for hospitals to identify and enhance the basic organizational social structures which promote the development and maintenance of magnetism. A total of 436 valid self-administered questionnaires were collected from nurses. Paired sample t-tests, importance-performance gap analysis andANO-VAwere applied. The aims of this study were to investigate the key factors in and the gaps between nurses’ perceptions and hospital performance in areas contributing to magnetism. The results showed that Salary structure, welfare, and manpower deployment were the key forces of magnetism influencing nursing practice. Public and private hospitals showed significant differences in manpower deployment and nurse-patient relationships. Nurses who rotated shifts were more dissatisfied with their hospital scheduling system. Therefore, personnel policies and program are the primary forces in the development of a magnet hospital. Considering the demand for flexible scheduling of nurses, providing a supportive work environment, and keeping pace with today’s changing health care environment could achieve better outcomes for nurses, patients, and hospitals. These findings provide a reference to help set priorities for the implementation and development of effective strategies with limited resources. Public hospitals should take the lead in promoting magnet hospitals and set up reasonable salary systems, nursing workforce standards, and administrative support in order to attract and effectively retain nurses.展开更多

Clinical data are generated both from the documentation of physicians' interactions with the patient and by diagnostic systems. During the care process, a number of different actors and roles (physicians, specialists, nurses, etc.) have the need to access patient data and document clinical activities in different moments and settings. Thus, data sharing and flexible aggregation based on different users' needs have become more and more important for supporting continuity of care at home, at hospitals, at outpatient clinics. In this paper, the authors identify and describe needs and challenges for patient data management at provider level and regional- (or inter-organizational-) level, because nowadays sharing patient data is needed to improve continuity and quality of care. For each level, the authors describe state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technology solutions to collect, manage, aggregate and share patient data. For each level some examples of best practices and solution scenarios being implemented in the Italian Healthcare setting are described as well.展开更多

Finally, if people come first in the TQM organization, then the personnel systems must reflect this philosophy.
文摘The public power and the private enterprise, the main agents of national economic and social development, when cooperating strategically, promote increased functional efficiency of their activities. In order to highlight the relevance of such partnership, this article aims to analyze the potential of actions jointly developed by private organizations and Brazilian universities. The research problem is lined in the field of health, which hosted actions developed between the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and the Hospital Maternity Guiomar Fernandes (HMGF), located in the city of Alexandria, in Rio Grande do Norte. The study emphasizes the shortcomings of this organization, the resolving power of the university in this scenario, and performs the analysis of the effects of this cooperation. The methodology used in this research was the case study in HMGF. With emphasis on fundraising and improving the informational management system, funding sources for projects of restructuring and expansion of the hospital were sought, as well as initiatives for developing hospital management softwares for small- and medium-sized organizations. As a result, the articulation between the university and the hospital provided the elaboration of a project for software development and the production of a project for physical restructuring and technological investment, aiming to expand the supply and quality of the hospital's services. The implementation of information systems, associated with investments in hospital infrastructure, providing increased efficiency in public assistance to the population, bringing both local and regional benefits, besides, providing the authorities with relevant data on the development of public policies.
文摘We advance here a novel methodology for robust intelligent biometric information management with inferences and predictions made using randomness and complexity concepts. The methodology proposed can be mapped to additional types of information beyond biometrics.
文摘This research discusses the role of information security development (ISD) using organizational factors such as information security plans, information security awareness, perceived quality training programs, information security policies and procedures, and organizational culture in effective information security management (ISM) implementation in the banks (a Nigerian case). Hence, it could be said that the role of ISD practices in an effective implementation of ISM among banks in Nigeria will be of great value.
文摘Magnet hospital certification has a reputation for being one solution to nurse recruitment and retention. Public hospitals should take the lead in promoting magnet hospitals and set up reasonable salary systems, nursing workforce standards, and administrative support in order to attract and effectively retain nurses.
文摘Clinical data have strong features of complexity and multi-disciplinarity. For each level some examples of best practices and solution scenarios being implemented in the Italian Healthcare setting are described as well.
文摘The objective of this research is to examine the antecedents and consequences of cost management systems (CMS) design effectiveness of manufacturing businesses in Thailand. The effect of CMS design effectiveness on cost information quality is investigated. Moreover, the effect of cost information quality on business success is investigated. Furthermore, executive management support and cost accountant competency are assumed to become the antecedents of CMS design effectiveness. Electronics manufacturing businesses in Thailand are samples of the research. A mail survey procedure via the questionnaire was used for data collection from accounting controllers. The results indicate that CMS design effectiveness has a positive significant effect on cost information quality. Moreover, cost information quality also has a positive significant effect on business success. Additionally, both executive management support and cost accountant competency have a positive significant effect on CMS design effectiveness.

文摘Performance evaluation of facilities management plays a key role in the facilities management process. This paper proposes an optimized multicriteria decision making model to evaluate the performance of facilities management in schools in Hong Kong. In this model, entropy weights acted as weight coefficients for evaluated criteria in order to avoid uncertainty and randomicity of subjective judgments. Besides, the TOPSIS method was incorporated in this model. Then this model was em- ployed to evaluate the performance of facilities management in classrooms, offices and laboratories and satisfying results were obtained. Moreover, findings indicated that one of the schools could be rehabilitated rather than removed.
文摘Hospital projects worldwide often experience misperformance, showing a tendency to exceed their estimated cost, miss their deadline, suffer quality problems, and yield benefit shortfalls.Considering this ubiquitous problem, this paper aims to make sense of this phenomenon by addressing the following research question:How can we make sense of hospital project misperformance, and what can be done to mitigate its occurrence? We use an illustrative case study approach and the analytical lens of sense-making to examine the misperformance of three mega-hospital projects. Our research reveals issues such as scope changes,an inability to adapt and respond to risk and uncertainty, ineffectual project management and governance, and optimism bias, which combine to impact project performance adversely. We suggest that the two prominent theoretical perspectives dominating the literature in this field fall short of adequately explaining hospital project misperformance. We provide suggestions for improving the procurement process of hospitals and submit there is a need to develop a robust and balanced theory of project misperformance.
