The calculati...The mathematical model for online controlling hot rolled steel cooling on run-out table (ROT for abbreviation) was analyzed, and water cooling is found to be the main cooling mode for hot rolled steel. The calculation of the drop in strip temperature by both water cooling and air cooling is summed up to obtain the change of heat transfer coefficient. It is found that the learning coefficient of heat transfer coefficient is the kernel coefficient of coiler temperature control (CTC) model tuning. To decrease the deviation between the calculated steel temperature and the measured one at coiler entrance, a laminar cooling control self-learning strategy is used. Using the data acquired in the field, the results of the self-learning model used in the field were analyzed. The analyzed results show that the self-learning function is effective.展开更多

Integrated with theses technologies, relevant profile and flatn...Varying contact-length backup roll and linearly variable crown work roll are provided for improving the mill performance of profile and flatness control. Integrated with theses technologies, relevant profile and flatness control models are developed for hot strip mills on the basis of large amount of finite element calculation. These models include shape setup control model in process control system, bending force feedforward control model, crown feedback control model and flatness feedback control model in basis automation system. Such a profile and flatness control system with full functions is applied in 1 700 mm industrial hot strip mills of Ansteel. Large amount of production data shows that the crown precision with the tolerance of±18 μm is over 90%, the strip percentage which the actual flatness is within ±25 I-unit surpasses 96%, and general roll consume is reduced by 28% by using the profile and fiatness control system. In addition, schedule-free rolling is realized.展开更多
The roll contour pattern and variety of work and backup rolls in service and its effect on profile and flatness control performance in 1 700 mm hot strip mill at Wuhan Iron and Steel(Group) Corporation were tested and...The roll contour pattern and variety of work and backup rolls in service and its effect on profile and flatness control performance in 1 700 mm hot strip mill at Wuhan Iron and Steel(Group) Corporation were tested and analyzed by the developed finite element models of different typical roll contours configurations.A rather smooth local work roll contour near strip edges and an increase in rolled length can be obtained by application of long stroke work roll shifting system with conventional work roll contours that is incapable of the crown control.In comparison with the conventional backup and work roll contours configuration,the crown control range by the roll bending force enhances by 12.79% and the roll gap stiffness increases by 25.26% with the developed asymmetry self-compensating work rolls(ASR) and varying contact backup rolls(VCR).A better strip profile and flatness quality,an increase in coil numbers within the rolling campaign and a significant alleviated effect of severe work roll wear contours on performance of edge drop control are achieved by the application of ASR with crown control and wear control ability in downstream stand F5 and VCR in all stands of 1 700 mm hot strip mill.展开更多

A statistical wear model and a finite difference thermal contour model of work rolls were described. The comprehensive contour is the equivalence treatment of the sum of grinding, wear, and thermal contours. This comprehensive contour calculation model has been applied successfully in the real on-line strip shape control model. Its high precision has been proved through the large amounts of actual roll profile measurements and theoretical analyses. The hit rates (percent of shape index satisfying re- quirement) of crown and head flatness of the strips rolled, by using the shape control model, which includes the comprehensive contour calculation model, have about 16% and 10% increase respectively, compared to those of strips rolled by using manual operation.展开更多

Through this technology, great changes on the run-out table are produced in the strip cooling process. In order to adapt to these changes, a new gen-eration of hot strip cooling control system after rolling was developed based on the UFC basic principle. The system can not only accomplish temperature of UFC delivery side, coiling temperature, cooling rate, etc, and multi-objective accuracy control, but also offer more flexibility and new attractive possibilities in terms of cooling pattern on the run-out table, which could be of prime importance for the production of some difficult steels. In addition, through the time-velocity-distance (TVD) profile prediction combined with speed feed-forward control and coiling temperature feedback control, the coiling temperature control precision can be effectively improved during accelerative rolling in the system. Profile requirements of silicon steel strip are extremely high and the thickness difference of cold-rolled products is usually less than 7μm,and the profile quality of hot-rolled strip is the key to ensure the thickn...Profile requirements of silicon steel strip are extremely high and the thickness difference of cold-rolled products is usually less than 7μm,and the profile quality of hot-rolled strip is the key to ensure the thickness difference of cold-rolled products.In order to produce the silicon steel strip with high-precision shape,the concept of quasi-rectangular rolling during hot continuous rolling was put forward;the equipment configuration and technical method of approximate rectangular section control were studied.Through the roughing multi-target load distribution technology and the roll configuration technology for uniform wear of a 4-high rolling mill,the strip crown of transfer bar was reduced and the profile control stability was guaranteed.Configuring variable contact back-up roll technology on all stands in the finishing rolling process,equipped with symmetry variable taper work roll and long-stroke intelligent shifting strategy in the downstream stands,and using side rolling lubrication technology can make the roll wear more uniform,reduce the edge drop of silicon steel strip,improve the profile quality,and make the strip section of finishing exit"quasi-rectangular".In addition,induction furnace and side heater were also equipped to guarantee the temperature uniformity of the strip,so as to improve the stability of profile control.The whole control technology is based on the 1580-mm hot continuous rolling production line,designed,and developed according to the characteristics of equipment and products,and has been successfully applied,which can obtain the approximate rectangular strip section satisfying the flatness quality,and improve the strip section precision of silicon steel and other products.展开更多

Such phenomena are caused by the different cooling ra...Hot rolled strips usually have higher strength and lower plasticity at the ends, and the mechanical properties are distributed unevenly along the length direction. Such phenomena are caused by the different cooling rates between the end and the center. The ends of the coiled strip cool down faster than the center, inducing finer grains in the sections. Furthermore, the center of the coil is kept at high temperature for longer time, which affects the precipitation of the carbides and creates the different mechanical properties from the ends. In this paper, the temperature field of the strip during cooling was simulated to discover the characteristics of the temperature change and the effect on mechanical properties. Based on the analysis, a concept of concave cooling control was introduced and implemented in the production. Results indicated that applying the concave cooling control method could significantly improve the uniformity of the properties and promote the quality of the products.展开更多
