On the English translation of the network new and hot words from the perspective of lexicology

From the initial sparks of fire to the present independent school, the network language has become the research object of many language scholars. With the rapid development of the lntemet, a large number of the network new words and hot words have a rapid impact on people＇s social communication and their life. This kind of the vocabularies truly reflects the different life attitudes and cultures mainly with the words as the carrier, and then shows the network cultures, mentalities and life styles of the Chinese people, and especially the young people in different stages. From the perspective of the English vocabulary, take the reverse into consideration of the reaction of the network new and hot words on the present situations of the life of young people, the latest social phenomena and the importance and particularity of the new things, and we can find out the roles and values of the network new and hot words in the intercultural communication.

On C-E Translation of Network Hot Words from the Perspective of Translator's Subjectivity

As a special kind of vocabularies originated from the network language,the network hot words are the manifcstation of the diversification of thec nctwork cra as well as of people's social consciousncss,To improve the translation quality of Chinese network hot words is not only conducive to promoting the Chinese network culure,but also an important way for foreigner to better understand China.This paper starts from the cases of network hot words translation,making the specific analysis of those words and the relationship among the translator,original writer and target readers.It also analyzes the factors that limit the translator's subjectivity and the translation skills of the network hot words,aiming at further clarifying the translator's subjectivity in the translation of network hot words.Through this research,this paper expectes to have a positive impact on the translation of Chinese network hot words and the promotion of Chinese culture.

A Method for Assessing the Fairness of Health Resource Allocation Based on Geographical Grid

The assessment of the fairness of health resource allocation is an important part of the study for the fairness of social development.The data used in most of the existing assessment methods comes from statistical yearbooks or field survey sampling.These statistics are generally based on administrative areas and are difficult to support a fine-grained evaluation model.In response to these problems,the evaluation method proposed in this paper is based on the query statistics of the geographic grid of the target area,which are more accurate and efficient.Based on the query statistics of hot words in the geographic grids,this paper adopts the maximum likelihood estimation method to estimate the population in the grid region.Then,according to the statistical yearbook data of Hunan province,the estimated number and actual number of hospitals in each grid are analyzed and compared to measure the fairness of health resource allocation in the target region.Experiments show that the geographical grid population assessment based on hot words is more accurate and close to the actual value.The estimated average error is only about 17.8 percent.This method can assess the fairness of health resource allocation in any scale,and is innovative in data acquisition and evaluation methods.

EXPLORING ON-LINE SOCIETAL RISK PERCEPTION FOR HARMONIOUS SOCIETY MEASUREMENT

The nearly 30-year economic growth miracle brings the consequent tremendous poor-rich gap leading strong drives for social transformation in current China. Chinese top leaders have realized to increase the peoples＇ income, improve quality of life and construct a ＂harmonious society＂ as key missions especially in recent 10 years. How to measure a harmonious society is one important topic as different measures may lead to different development policies. This paper outlines over 10 indices relevant to measure a harmonious society. Some are global indicators, while some are contributed by domestic researchers and arouse debates. Most of those indicators require conducting surveys on social attitudes under micro levels, which is always time consuming with problem of data quality. As Internet technology advances provide ways to record and disseminate fresh community ideas and thoughts conveniently, detecting topics or emotions from on-line public opinions is becoming a trend or one supplement way to overcome those data acquisition problems. This paper discusses one approach to on-line societal risk perception using hot search words and BBS posts. Such a trial aims to provide another way to societal risk perception different from those in traditional socio psychology studies. Challenges are also indicated.

Evolution Analysis of Societal Risk Events by Risk Maps

Event evolution analysis which provides an effective approach to capture the main context of a story from explosive increased news texts has become the critical basis for many real applications,such as crisis and emergency management and decision making.Especially,the development of societal risk events which may cause some possible harm to society or individuals has been heavily concerned by both the government and the public.In order to capture the evolution and trends of societal risk events,this paper presents an improved algorithm based on the method of information maps.It contains an event-level cluster generation algorithm and an evaluation algorithm.The main work includes:1)Word embedding representation is adopted and event-level clusters are chosen as nodes of the events evolution chains which may comprehensively present the underlying structure of events.Meanwhile,clusters that consist of risk-labeled events enable to illustrate how events evolve along the time with transitions of risks.2)One real-world case,the event of"Chinese Red Cross",is studied and a series of experiments are conducted.3)An evaluation algorithm is proposed on the basis of indicators of map construction without massive human-annotated dataset.Our approach for event evolution analysis automatically generates a visual evolution of societal risk events,displaying a clear and structural picture of events development.
