Photovoltaic(PV)systems are adversely affected by partial shading and non-uniform conditions.Meanwhile,the addition of a bypass shunt diode to each PV module prevents hotspots.It also produces numerous peaks in the PV array’s power-voltage characteristics,thereby trapping conventional maximum power point tracking(MPPT)methods in local peaks.Swarm optimization approaches can be used to address this issue.However,these strategies have an unreasonably long convergence time.The Grey Wolf Optimizer(GWO)is a fast and more dependable optimization algorithm.This renders it a good option for MPPT of PV systems operating in varying partial shading.The conventional GWO method involves a long conversion time,large steady-state oscillations,and a high failure rate.This work attempts to address these issues by combining Cuckoo Search(CS)with the GWO algorithm to improve the MPPT performance.The results of this approach are compared with those of conventional MPPT according to GWO and MPPT methods based on perturb and observe(P&O).A comparative analysis reveals that under non-uniform operating conditions,the hybrid GWO CS(GWOCS)approach presented in this article outperforms the GWO and P&O approaches. 展开更多

In this paper, a Hybrid MPPT algorithm is proposed to improve the efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) systems under partial shading conditions. Partial shading occurs due to clouds, trees, dirt and dust in PV systems. In partial shading, multiple peaks arise in the PV characteristic curve. The Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm adjusts the duty cycle of the switch in DC-DC converter for regulating the input voltage at the Maximum power point (MPP) and to provide impedance matching i.e. input resistance of converter equal to equivalent solar resistance of PV system at MPP for the maximum power transfer. The Cuk converters have low switching losses and the highest efficiency. Therefore Cuk converter is chosen as power conditioning circuit to trackmaximum power using Hybrid MPPT technique. The influence of algorithm parameters on system behaviour is investigated and the various advantages and drawbacks of the technique are identified for different weather conditions. Practical results obtained using Solartech SPMO85P PV modules connected to a RL load through Hybrid MPPT controller validates the simulated results. 展开更多

Because of its high theoretical capacity,transition metal sulfides have always been regarded as promising anode materials for potas-slum-ion batteries.However,It is difficult for us to make use of transition metal sulfides due to their low conductivity,poor ionic dif-fusivity,sluggish reaction kinetics and severe volume expansion.Here,we developed a novel carbon-coated CoSx@CNT material with carbon nanotubes inter-connected(CCS@CNT),which shows an excellent potassium storage performance with a specific capacity of 550 mA·h·g^(-1) under the current of 50 mA·g^(-1) and 296 mA·hg^(-1) at 1000 mA·g-1.The carbon layer can effectively alleviate volume ex-pansion during charging and discharging process.And this special structure of inter-connected hybrid networks with CNTs greatly improves the electron transport,ion diffusion coefficient and reaction kinetics of the material. 展开更多

Peak Current Control Strategy with Extended-State Tracking Compensator for DC-DC in Hybrid Energy Storage System

Because variations of ultra-capacitor voltage and battery voltage generate subharmonic and chaotic behaviors in hybrid energy storage system (HESS) application when a DC-DC converter is under the peak current control, a novel digital control strategy, i.e., peak current control with extended-state tracking compensator, is introduced to deal with the stability. The gains of the control algorithm are selected based on pole locations formulated from the Bessel filter. The simulation results validate that under the peak current control strategy with compensator, the DC-DC converter does not have the subharmonic and chaotic behaviors. The response time under the peak current control with compensator is the same as that under the peak current control. The ripple voltage and ripple current of battery are less. The tracking error of inductor current tends to zero. 展开更多

In order to provide long distance endurance and ensure the minimization of a cost function for electric vehicles,a new hybrid energy storage system for electric vehicle is designed in this paper.For the hybrid energy storage system,the paper proposes an optimal control algorithm designed using a Li-ion battery power dynamic limitation rule-based control based on the SOC of the super-capacitor.At the same time,the magnetic integration technology adding a second-order Bessel low-pass filter is introduced to DC-DC converters of electric vehicles.As a result,the size of battery is reduced,and the power quality of the hybrid energy storage system is optimized.Finally,the effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by simulation and experiment. 展开更多

The concept of a flexible power electronics substation(FPES)was first applied in the Zhangbei DC distribution network demonstration project.As a multi-port power electronics transformer(PET)with different AC and DC voltage levels,the FPES has adopted a novel topology integrating modular multilevel converter(MMC)and four-winding medium frequency transformer(FWMFT)based multiport DC-DC converter,which can significantly reduce capacitance in each sub-module(SM)of a MMC and also save space and cost.In this paper,in order to accelerate speed of electromagnetic transient(EMT)simulations of FPES based hybrid AC/DC distribution systems,an averaged-value model(AVM)is proposed for efficient and accurate representation of FPES.Assume that all SM capacitor voltages are perfectly balanced in the MMC,then the MMC behavior can be modeled using controlled voltage sources based on modulation voltages from control systems.In terms of the averaged current transfer characteristics among the windings of the FWMFT,we consider that all multiport DC-DC converters are controlled with the same dynamics,a lumped averaged model using controlled current and voltage sources has been developed for these four-port DC-DC converters connected to the upper or lower arms of the MMC.The presented FPES AVM model has been tested and validated by comparison with a detailed IGBT-based EMT model.Results show that the AVM is significantly more efficient while maintaining its accuracy in an EMT simulation. 展开更多
