A monolithic hybrid fuel cell (MHFC) with a novel configuration was proposed in an effort to improve the fuel cell performance during instantaneous power changes. A modified direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) with a layer of hydrous ruthenium dioxide (RuO2·xH2O) sandwiched between the anode catalyst layer and membrane was used to demonstrate the principle of the MHFC. Experimental results indicate that the RuO2·xH2O layer is equivalent to a resistor-capacitor transmission line and functions similar to a capacitor in parallel with the anode electrode. The improvement in dynamic response of the MHFC was experimentally confirmed under step current change and square current pulse operating. The ionic conductivity of the RuO2·xH2O layer was also obtained. 展开更多

Engineering multicomponent nanomaterials as an electrode with rationalized ordered structures is a promising strategy for fulfilling the high-energy storage needs of supercapacitors(SCs).Even now,the fundamental barrier to utilizing hydroxides/hydroxyl carbonates is their poor electrochemical performance,resulting from the significantly poor electrical conductivity and sluggish charge storage kinetics.Hence,a multilayered structural approach is primarily and successfully used to construct electrodes as one of the efficient approaches.This method has made it possible to develop well-ordered nanostructured electrodes with good performance by taking advantage of tunable approach parameters.Herein,we report the design of multilayered heterostructure porous zinc-nickel nanosheets@nickel flakes hydroxyl carbonates and/or hydroxides integrated with conductive PEDOT fibrous network(i.e.,ZnNi@Ni@PEDOT) via facile synthesis methods.The combined hybrid electrode acquires the features of high electrical conductivity from one part and various valance states from another one to develop a well-organized nanosheet/flake/fibrous-like heterostructure with decent mechanical strength,creating robust synergistic results.Thus,the designed binder-free ZnNi@Ni@PEDOT electrode delivers a high areal capacity value of 1050.1 μA h cm^(-2) at 3 mA cm^(-2) with good cycling durability,significantly outperforming other individual electrodes.Moreover,its feasibility is also tested by constructing a hybrid electrochemical cell(HEC).The assembled HEC exhibits a high areal capacity value of 783.8 μA h cm^(-2) at5 mA cm^(-2).and even at a high current density of 100 mA cm^(-2)(484.6 μA h cm^(-2)),the device still retains a rate capability of 61,82%,Also,the HEC shows maximum energy and power densities of0.595 mW h cm^(-2) and 77.23 mW cm^(-2),respectively,along with good cycling stability.The obtained energy storage capabilities effectively power various electronic components.These results provide a viable and practical way to construct a positive electrode with innovative heterostructures for highperformance energy storage devices and profoundly influence the development of electrochemical SCs. 展开更多

In this paper, we propose a thermal model of a hybrid photovoltaic/thermal concentration system. Starting from the thermal balance of the model, the equation is solved and simulated with a MATLAB code, considering air as the cooling fluid. This enabled us to evaluate some of the parameters influencing the electrical and thermal performance of this device. The results showed that the temperature, thermal efficiency and electrical efficiency delivered depend on the air mass flow rate. The electrical and thermal efficiencies for different values of air mass flow are encouraging, and demonstrate the benefits of cooling photovoltaic cells. The results show that thermal efficiency decreases air flow rate greater than 0.7 kg/s, whatever the value of the light concentration used. The thermal efficiency of the solar cell increases as the light concentration increases, whatever the air flow rate used. For a concentration equal to 30 sun, the thermal efficiency is 0.16 with an air flow rate equal to 0.005 kg/s;the thermal efficiency increases to 0.19 with an air flow rate equal to 0.1 kg/s at the same concentration. An interesting and useful finding was that the proposed numerical model allows the determination of the electrical as well as thermal efficiency of the hybrid CPV/T with air flow as cooling fluid. 展开更多

Developing high resolution finite difference scheme and enabling the use of this scheme on complex geometry are the aims of this study.High resolution has been achieved by Dissipative Compact Schemes(DCS),however,according to the recent research,applications of DCS on complex geometry may have serious problem for that the Geometric Conservation Law(GCL)is not satisfied,and this may cause numerical instability.To cope with this problem,a new scheme named Hybrid cell-edge and cell-node Dissipative Compact Scheme(HDCS)has been formulated.The formulation of the HDCS contains two steps.First,a new central compact scheme is formulated for the purpose of conveniently fulfilling the GCL,and then dissipation is added on the central scheme by high-order dissipative interpolation of cell-edge variables.The solutions of Euler and Navier-Stokes equations show that the HDCS can be applied successfully on complex geometry,while the DCS may suffer numerical instabilities.Moreover,high resolution of the HDCS may be observed in the test of scattering of acoustic waves by multiple cylinders. 展开更多

Comparative genomic hybridization analysis of genetic aberrations associated with development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in Henan, China 被引量:8

AIM: To characterize cytogenetic alterations in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and its metastasis. METHODS: A total of 37 cases of primary ESCC and 15 pairs of primary ESCC tumors and their matched metastatic lymph nodes cases were enrolled from Linzhou, the high incidence area for ESCC in Henan, northern China. The comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) was applied to determine the chromosomal aberrations on the DNA extracted from the frozen ESCC and metastatic lymph node samples from these patients. RESULTS: CGH showed chromosomal aberrations in all the cases. In 37 cases of primary ESCC, chromosomal profile of DNA copy number was characterized by frequently detected gains at 8q (29/37, 78%), 3q (24/37, 65%), 5p (19/37, 51%); and frequently detected losses at 3p (21/37, 57%), 8p and 9q (14/37, 38%). In 15 pairs of primary ESCC tumors and their matched metastatic lymph node cases, the majority of the chromosomal aberrations in both primary tumor and metastatic lymph node lesions were consistent with the primary ESCC cases, but new candidate regions of interest were also detected. The most significant finding is the gains of chromosome 6p with a minimum high-level amplification region at 6p12-6q12 in 7 metastatic lymph nodes butonly in 2 corresponding primary tumors (P = 0.05) and 20p with a minimum high-level amplification region at 20p12 in 11 metastatic lymph nodes but only in 5 corresponding primary tumors (P < 0.05). Another interesting finding is the loss of chromosome 10p and 10q in 8 and 7 metastatic lymph nodes but only in 2 corresponding primary tumors (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Using the CGH technique to detect chromosomal aberrations in both the primary tumor and its metastatic lymph nodes of ESCC, gains of 8q, 3q and 5p and loss of 3p, 8p, 9q and 13q were specifically implicated in ESCC in Linzhou population. Gains of 6p and 20p and loss of 10pq may contribute to the lymph node metastasis of ESCC. These findings suggest that the gains and losses of chromosomal regions may contain ESCC-related oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes and provide important theoretic information for identifying and cloning novel ESCC-related oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes. 展开更多

The configuration of the hybrid fuel cell powertrain was introduced. The safety of hydrogen storage and delivery system, the hydrogen leakage alarm system were developed. The real-time distributed control and diagnosis system based on the Time Trigger Controller Area Network (TTCAN) with 10 ms basic control period was developed. The concept and implementation of processor (or controller) monitor and process (or task) monitor technique based on the TTCAN were applied in this paper. The fault tolerant control algorithm of the fuel cell engine and the battery management system were considered. The demonstration experience verified that the fault tolerant control was very important for the fuel cell city bus. 展开更多

H. pylori DNA in gastric epithelialcells was detected by GenPoint catalyzed signalamplification system for in situ hybridization.RESULTS: In the H. pylori positive group, zero out of 24chronic superficial gastritis (0. 0 %), four out of 25precancerous changes (16.0 %) and thirteen out of 35gastric cancers (37. 1 %) showed H. pylori DNA in thenucleus of gastric epithelial cells, the positive rates of H.pylori DNA in the nucleus of gastric epithelial cells wereprogressively inoreased in chronic superficial gastritis,precancerous changes and gastric cancer groups (χ2 = 12.56, P = 0. 002); One out of 24 ohronic superficial gastritis(4.2 %), eleven out of 25 precancerous ohangas (44.0 %)and thirteen out of 35 gastric cancers (37. 1 %) showed H.pylori DNA in the cytoplasm of gastric epithelial cells (χ2 =10.86, P = 0.004). In the H. pylorinegative group, only onepatient with gastric cancer was found H. pylori DNA in thenucleus of gastric epithelial cells; Only two patients, onepatient with precancerous changes and another with gastriccancer, showed H. pylori DNA in the cytoplasm of gastricepithelial calls. Furthermore, H. pylori DNA must have been inthe ayteplasm as long as it existed in the nucleus of gastricepithelial cells.CONCLUSION: H. pyloriDNA exists both in the nucleus andthe cytoplasm of gastric epithelial cells in patients with H.pylori infections. Identification and cell wall analysis of interspecific hybrids between Oryza sativa and Oryza ridleyi

Oryza ridleyi is an allotetraploid wild species with the HHJJ genome, and Oryza sativa is a diploid cultivated rice that has the AA genome. Although the wide hybrid between the two species is difficult to obtain, we overcome this difficulty by young embryo rescue. An obvious heterosis was primarily found for the plant height, tillering ability, vegetative vigor, etc. However, the hybrid panicle and culm traits were found to resemble that of the wild rice parent, O. ridleyi, for the long awns, exoteric purple stigma, grain shattering, dispersed panicles, and culm mechanical strength. Genomic in situ hybridization (GISH) analysis was subsequently performed on the mitotic metaphase chromosome of the root tips, and we determined that the hybrid is an allotriploid with 36 chromosomes and its genomic constitution is AHJ. Chemical analyses conducted on the culm of O. sativa, O. ridleyi, and their interspecific hybrids showed that major changes occurred in the xylose, glucose, and arabinose concentrations, which are correlated with the specific hemicellulose polymer and cellulose components that are important in the primary cell walls of green plants. Meanwhile, the culm anatomical analyses indicated that additional large vascular bundles and an extra sclerenchyma cell layer were found in O. ridleyi. Additionally, further thickening of the secondary cell walls of the cortical fiber sclerenchyma cells and the phloem companion cells was discovered in O. ridleyi and in the interspecific hybrids. These results imply that there may be a potential link between culm mechanical strength and culm anatomical structure. 展开更多

Pursuit of energy-harvesting or-storage materials to realize outstanding electricity output from nature has been regarded as a promising strategy to resolve the energy-lack issue in the future. Among them,the solar cell as a solar-to-electrical conversion device has been attracted enormous interest to improve the efficiency. However, the ability to generate electricity is highly dependent on the weather conditions,in other words, there is nearly zero power output in dark-light conditions, such as rainy, cloudy, and night, lowering the monolithic power generation capacity. Here, we present a bifunctional polyaniline film via chemical bath deposition, which can harvest energy from the rain, yielding an induced current of 2.57 μA and voltage of 65.5 μV under the stimulus of real raindrop. When incorporating the functional PANi film into the traditional dye sensitized solar cell as a counter electrode, the hybridized photovoltaic can experimentally realize the enhanced output power via harvesting energy from rainy and sunny days. The current work may show a new path for development of advanced solar cells in the future. 展开更多

Male sterility induced by a chemical hybridization agent (CHA) is an important tool for utilizing crop heterosis. Leaves, especially the flag leaves, as CHA initial recipients play a decisive role in inducing male sterility. To investigate effects of different treatment times of CHA-SQ-1 used, morphological, biochemical and physiological responses of wheat flag leaves were detected in thistudy. CHA induced programmed cell death (PCD) as shown in terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end-labelling (TUNEL) and DNA laddering analysis. In the early phase, CHA-SQ-1 trig- gered organelle changes arid PCD in wheat leaves accompanied by excess production of reactive oxygen species (O2- and H202) and down-regulation of the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and guaiacol peroxidase (POD). Meanwhile, leaf cell DNAs showed ladder-like patterns on agarose gel, indicating that CHA-SQ-1 led to the activation of the responsible endonuclease. The oxidative stress assays showed that lipid peroxidation was strongly activated and photosynthesis was obviously inhibited in SQ-l-induced leaves. However, CHA contents in wheat leaves gradually reduced along with the time CHA-SQ-1 applied. Young flags returned to an oxidative/antioxidative balance and ultimately developed into mature green leaves. These results provide explanation of the relations between PCD and anther abortion and practical application of CHA for hybrid breeding. 展开更多

The polymer electrolyte membrane(PEM) fuel cell has been regarded as a potential alternative power source,and a model is necessary for its design,control and power management.A hybrid dynamic model of PEM fuel cell,which combines the advantages of mechanism model and black-box model,is proposed in this paper.To improve the performance,the static neural network and variable neural network are used to build the black-box model.The static neural network can significantly improve the static performance of the hybrid model,and the variable neural network makes the hybrid dynamic model predict the real PEM fuel cell behavior with required accuracy.Finally,the hybrid dynamic model is validated with a 500 W PEM fuel cell.The static and transient experiment results show that the hybrid dynamic model can predict the behavior of the fuel cell stack accurately and therefore can be effectively utilized in practical application. 展开更多

Cell-cell fusion is a normal biological process playing essential roles in organ formation and tissue differentiation,repair and regeneration.Through cell fusion somatic cells undergo rapid nuclear reprogramming and epigenetic modifications to form hybrid cells with new genetic and phenotypic properties at a rate exceeding that achievable by random mutations.Factors that stimulate cell fusion are inflammation and hypoxia.Fusion of cancer cells with non-neoplastic cells facilitates several malignancy-related cell phenotypes,e.g.,reprogramming of somatic cell into induced pluripotent stem cells and epithelial to mesenchymal transition.There is now considerable in vitro,in vivo and clinical evidence that fusion of cancer cells with motile leucocytes such as macrophages plays a major role in cancer metastasis.Of the many changes in cancer cells after hybridizing with leucocytes,it is notable that hybrids acquire resistance to chemo-and radiation therapy.One phenomenon that has been largely overlooked yet plays a role in these processes is polyploidization.Regardless of the mechanism of polyploid cell formation,it happens in response to genotoxic stresses and enhances a cancer cell’s ability to survive.Here we summarize the recent progress in research of cell fusion and with a focus on an important role for polyploid cells in cancer metastasis.In addition,we discuss the clinical evidence and the importance of cell fusion and polyploidization in solid tumors. 展开更多

In-situ growth of CdS nanorods (NRs) has been demonstrated via solvothermal, in a low band gap polymer, poly [[4,8-bis[(2-ethylhexyl)oxy] benzo [1,2-b:4,5-b’] dithiophene-2,6-diyl] [3-fluoro-2-[(2-ethylhexyl) carbony... In-situ growth of CdS nanorods (NRs) has been demonstrated via solvothermal, in a low band gap polymer, poly [[4,8-bis[(2-ethylhexyl)oxy] benzo [1,2-b:4,5-b’] dithiophene-2,6-diyl] [3-fluoro-2-[(2-ethylhexyl) carbonyl] thieno [3,4-b] thiophenediyl]] (PTB7). It is a high yielding, green approach as it removes use of volatile and hazardous chemicals such as pyridine as ligand which are conventionally used to synthesize precursors of CdS (NRs). Moreover the solvothermal process is a zero emission process being a close vessel synthesis and hence no material leaching into the atmosphere during the synthesis. The PTB7:CdS nanocomposite has been characterized by SEM, XRD, FTIR, UV-visible spectroscopy techniques. The photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy study of PTB7 with CdS NRs has shown significant PL quenching by the incorporation of CdS NRs in PTB7;this shows that CdS NRs are efficient electron acceptors with the PTB7. The PTB7:CdS is used as active layer in the fabrication of hybrid solar cells (HSC) as donor-acceptor combination in the bulk heterojunction (BHJ) geometry. The HSCs fabricated using this active layer without any additional supporting fullerene based electron acceptor has given power conversion efficiency of above 1%. 展开更多

A hybrid automaton modeling approach that incorporates state space partitioning, phase dynamic modeling and control law synthesis by control strategy is utilized to develop a hybrid automaton model of molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) stack shutdown. The shutdown operation is divided into several phases and their boundaries are decided according to a control strategy, which is a set of specifications about the dynamics of MCFC stack during shutdown. According to the control strategy, the specification of increasing stack temperature is satisfied in a phase that can be modeled accurately. The model for phase that has complex dynamic is approximated. The duration of this kind of phase is decreased to minimize the error caused by model approximation. 展开更多

Chromosome aberrations are distinctive features of human malignant tumors. Analysis of chromosomal changes can illuminate the molecular mechanisms underlying the development and progression of cancer. To establish the technique of multicolor fluorescence in situ hybridization (M-FISH) for identifying chromosome aberrations in esophageal carcinoma cell line KYSE 410-4, four pools of 6-color whole-chromosome painting probes have been designed and hybridized on the same metaphase spread by four rounds of repetitive FISH. Repetitive 6-color M-FISH was successfully established and the cytogenetic abnormalities in KYSE 410-4 cells were characterized. Chromosome gains occurred at 2q, 3, 8, 17p, and X. An isochromosome 3q was visualized in the cell line, which might be one intermediate mechanism leading to 3p losses and/or 3q gains. Furthermore, 16 structural arrangements were detected, including four derivative chromosomes. The rearrangement of the centromeric regions accounted for approximately 44% of all rearrangements. The results added a more complete and accurate information of the genetic alterations to the classical cytogenetic description of KYSE 410-4 and provided a detailed cytogenetic background data for appropriate use of the cell line. The established 6-color M-FISH was useful for analyzing chromosomes in the whole genome of human tumors. 展开更多
