The reciprocal crosses were performed using Benihoppe, as the female parent, four disease-resistant European cultivars Albion, Camino Real, Ven- tana and Virginia, and one Japanese cultivar Meiho as the male parent. Then, the seedling propagation coefficient, disease resistance, fruit quality and yield of F1 gen- eration of the combinations were detected and compared. Besides, the breeding and traits of a new cultivar F1-40 developed from the cross between Benihoppe and Mei- ho were introduced as an instance to prove the feasibility of the combinations/lines.展开更多

In the paper, rice yield, economic traits, quality indicators and rice blast-resistance identification results of these 15 hybrid combinations were described and analyzed. Results show that Chuanxiangyou37 and Tianlongyou540 have relatively high amylose content, good yielding ability, high resistance and appropriate growth period, which are new hybrid rice varieties with organic combination of high amylase content, high gel consistency, high yield, stable yield and wide adaptability. Therefore, Chuanxiangyou37 and Tianlongyou540 are recommended as the main combination for rice production.展开更多

The perpormences of three-breed crossbred (Suffolk ♂× DH ♀, Suffolk ♂× TH ♀, Texel ♂× SH ♀, Texel ♂× DH ♀, Dorset ♂× TH ♀, and Dorset ♂× SH ♀ ) were tested. The results indicated that there were genetic polymorphisms at six microsatellite loci in six sheep populations. Six microsatellite loci could be used for genetic diversity evaluation in sheep populations. The order of three-breed heterosis by the analysis of genetic relationship from large to small was Texel ♂× DH ♀, Suffolk ♂× DH ♀, Suffolki ♂× TH ♀, Texel ♂× SH ♀, Dorset ♂×TH ♀, and Dorset ♂× SH ♀, which was in accordance with the testing results on actual heterosis. [Objective] The aim of this study was to investigate the production performance of three pig cultivars through their fattening performance, carcass traits and meat quality for facilitating its application in practical...[Objective] The aim of this study was to investigate the production performance of three pig cultivars through their fattening performance, carcass traits and meat quality for facilitating its application in practical production. [ Method] Three pig cultivars were selected including Yesong ( F1 hybrid of pure-bred wild boar cross with songliao black sow as female parent) hybrid pigs, D × L × Y pigs from three-way cross and L x Y pigs from two-way cross. The test pigs in early period (before 60 kg) and late period (after 60 kg) were all fed with diets of the same nutritional level by free feeding and drinking water. The pre-test period was 3 d, while the test period was 120 d. Every 30 days, pigs with an empty stomach were weighed on morning, and when fattening to 120 d, five pigs with good growth and development in each cultivar were selected for slaughter to determine carcass traits and meat quality. [ Result] Under the same diets and feeding conditions, average daily gain and weight gain in the whole period of pigs from three-way cross were all significantly higher than those of pigs from two-way cross, and also extremely higher than those of Yesong pigs. There was no difference in dressed carcass percentage, backfat thickness and proportion of hind leg among three hybrid combinations. Lean meat percentage and eye muscle area of pigs from three-way cross and pigs from two-way cross were all significantly higher than those of Yesong pigs. Yesong pigs had relatively darker carnation, but marble vein (P〈0.05) and water loss rate (P〈0. 01 ) of Yesong pigs were relatively fewer than those of pigs from two-way cross and pigs from three-way cross. Shear force of Yesong pigs was significantly higher than that of pigs from two-way cross and pigs from three-way cross, [ Conclusion] Yesong hybrid pigs make full use of heterosis between wild pigs and Songliao black pigs for improvement of its meat quality, but some values of major economic traits in Yesong hybrid pigs is still lower than those in pigs from thrae-way cross and pigs from two-way cress.展开更多

By the end of 1992, Xieyou 46 has been planted as a late season or single season hybrid ricc combination along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and the planting area has reached 3.35 million ha. These included genes potentially con...Using a subtractive hybridization (SH)/cDNA-AFLP combinational approach, differentially expressed genes involved in the potato-Phytophthora infestans interaction were identified. These included genes potentially controlling pathogenesis or avr genes in P. infestans as well as those potentially involved in potato resistance or susceptibility to this pathogen. Forty-one differentially expressed transcript, derived fragments (TDFs), resulting from the interaction, were cloned and sequenced. Two TDFs, suggested as potential pathogenicity factors, have sequence similarity to N-succinyl diaminopimelate aminotransferase and a transcriptional regulator, TetR family gene, respectively. Two other TDFs, suggested as potential avr genes, have sequence similarity to an EST sequence from Avr41Cf.41Avr91Cf- 9 and a P. infestans avirulence-associated gene, respectively. Genes' expression and origin were confirmed using Southern blots, Northern blots and qRT-PCR, he., potential resistance gene DL81 was induced at 12 hpi in the moderately resistant cultivar, whereas it was down-regulated as early as 6 hpi in the susceptible cultivar. On the other hand, DL21 was induced at 6 hpi (3.38-fold) in response to the highly aggressive isolate (US8) and strongly up-regulated thereafter (25.13-fold at 120 hpi.), whereas it was only slightly up-regulated in response to the weakly aggressive isolate US11 (3.82-fold at 96 hpi), suggesting its potential involvement as a susceptibility gene.展开更多

In this paper,we have proposed a hybrid optical wavelength demultiplexer and power combiner for a hybrid timeand wavelength-division multiplexing(TWDM)passive optical network(PON),i.e.,a single passive optical device ...In this paper,we have proposed a hybrid optical wavelength demultiplexer and power combiner for a hybrid timeand wavelength-division multiplexing(TWDM)passive optical network(PON),i.e.,a single passive optical device that functions as a 1×N wavelength demultiplexer for distributing the downstream signal in multiple wavelengths from the optical line terminal(OLT)to the N optical network units(ONUs),and simultaneously as an N×1 power combiner for collecting the upstream signal in the same wavelength from the N ONUs to the OLT.Through a design example of a 32 channel hybrid optical wavelength demultiplexer and power combiner on the silicon-on-insulator platform,our numerical simulation result shows that the insertion loss and adjacent channel crosstalk of the downstream wavelength demultiplexer are as low as 4.6 and-16.3 dB,respectively,while the insertion loss and channel non-uniformity of the upstream power combiner can reach 3.5 and 2.1 dB,respectively.The proposed structure can readily be extended to other material platforms such as the silica-based planar lightwave circuit.Its fabrication process is fully compatible with standard clean-room technologies such as photolithography and etching,without any complicated and/or costly approach involved.展开更多
