An approach to identification of linear continuous-time system is studied with modulating functions. Based on wavelet analysis theory, the multi-resolution modulating functions are designed, and the corresponding filters have been analyzed. Using linear modulating filters, we can obtain an identification model that is parameterized directly in continuous-time model parameters. By applying the results from discrete-time model identification to the obtained identification model, a continuous-time estimation method is developed. Considering the accuracy of parameter estimates, an instrumental variable (Ⅳ) method is proposed, and the design of modulating integral filter is discussed. The relationship between the accuracy of identification and the parameter of modulating filter is investigated, and some points about designing Gaussian wavelet modulating function are outlined. Finally, a simulation study is also included to verify the theoretical results. 展开更多

In order to evaluate the nonlinear performance and the possible damage to rubber-bearings (RBs) during their normal operation or under strong earthquakes, a simplified Bouc-Wen model is used to describe the nonlinear hysteretic behavior of RBs in this paper, which has the advantages of being smooth-varying and physically motivated. Further, based on the results from experimental tests performed by using a particular type of RB (GZN 110) under different excitation scenarios, including white noise and several earthquakes, a new system identification method, referred to as the sequential nonlinear least- square estimation (SNLSE), is introduced to identify the model parameters. It is shown that the proposed simplified Bouc- Wen model is capable of describing the nonlinear hysteretic behavior of RBs, and that the SNLSE approach is very effective in identifying the model parameters of RBs. 展开更多

An advanced Gauss pseudospectral method(AGPM) was proposed to estimate the parameters of the continuous-time(CT)Hammerstein model.The nonlinear part of the Hammerstein system is approximated with pseudospectral approximation method.The linear part was written as a controllable canonical form to circumvent the high order time-derivative of the input and output(I/O) signals,which could multiply the measurement noise in the identification procession.Furthermore,an output error minimization was constructed for the CT Hammerstein model identification,which was then transcribed into a nonlinear programming(NLP) problem by AGPM.AGPM could converge to the true values of the CT Hammerstein model with few interpolated Legendre-Gauss(LG) nodes.Lastly,two illustrative examples were proposed to verify the accuracy and efficiency of the method. 展开更多

The Bayesian method of statistical analysis has been applied to the parameter identification problem. A method is presented to identify parameters of dynamic models with the Bayes estimators of measurement frequencies. This is based on the solution of an inverse generalized evaluate problem. The stochastic nature of test data is considered and a normal distribution is used for the measurement frequencies. An additional feature is that the engineer's confidence in the measurement frequencies is quantified and incorporated into the identification procedure. We show that the LT... The least trimmed squares estimator (LTS) is a well known robust estimator in terms of protecting the estimate from the outliers. Its high computational complexity is however a problem in practice. We show that the LTS estimate can be obtained by a simple algorithm with the complexity 0( N In N) for large N, where N is the number of measurements. We also show that though the LTS is robust in terms of the outliers, it is sensitive to the inliers. The concept of the inliers is introduced. Moreover, the Generalized Least Trimmed Squares estimator (GLTS) together with its solution are presented that reduces the effect of both the outliers and the inliers. This paper presents a method for identification of the hydrodynamic coefficients of the dive plane of an autonomous underwater vehicle. The proposed identification method uses the governing equations of motion to estimate the coefficients of the linear damping, added mass and inertia, cross flow drag and control. Parts of data required by the proposed identification method are not measured by the onboard instruments. Hence, an optimal fusion algorithm is devised which estimates the required data accurately with a high sampling rate. To excite the dive plane dynamics and obtain the required measurements, diving maneuvers should be performed. Hence, a reliable controller with satisfactory performance and stability is needed. A cascaded controller is designed based on the coefficients obtained using a semi-empirical method and its robustness to the uncertainties is verified by the μ-analysis method. The performance and accuracy of the identification and fusion algorithms are investigated through 6-DOF numerical simulations of a realistic autonomous underwater vehicle. 展开更多

A higher-order cumulant-based weighted least square(HOCWLS) and a higher-order cumulant-based iterative least square(HOCILS) are derived for multiple inputs single output(MISO) errors-in-variables(EIV) systems from noisy input/output data. Whether the noises of the input/output of the system are white or colored, the proposed algorithms can be insensitive to these noises and yield unbiased estimates. To realize adaptive parameter estimates, a higher-order cumulant-based recursive least square(HOCRLS) method is also studied. Convergence analysis of the HOCRLS is conducted by using the stochastic process theory and the stochastic martingale theory. It indicates that the parameter estimation error of HOCRLS consistently converges to zero under a generalized persistent excitation condition. The usefulness of the proposed algorithms is assessed through numerical simulations. 展开更多

The study of multirate systems goes back to the early 1950's, and has become an active research area in systems and control. This paper briefly surveys the history of development in the area of multirate systems, and introduces some basic concepts and latest results on multirate systems, including a polynomial transformation technique and the lifting technique as tools for handling multirate systems, lifted state space models, parameter identification of dual-rate systems, how to determine fast single-rate models from dual-rate models and directly from dual-rate data, and a hierarchical identification method for general multirate systems. Recently, frequency-based least-squares (LS) estimators have found wide application in identifying aircraft flutter parameters. However, the frequency methods are often known to suffer from numerical difficulties when identifying a continuous-time model, especially, of broader frequency or higher order. In this article, a numerically robust LS estimator based on vector orthogonal polynomial is proposed to solve the numerical problem of multivariable systems and applied to the flutter testing. The key idea of this method is to represent the frequency response function (FRF) matrix by a right matrix fraction description (RMFD) model, and expand the numerator and denominator polynomial matrices on a vector orthogonal basis. As a result, a perfect numerical condition (numerical condition equals 1) can be obtained for linear LS estimator. Finally, this method is verified by flutter test of a wing model in a wind tunnel and real flight flutter test of an aircraft. The results are compared to those with notably LMS PolyMAX, which is not troubled by the numerical problem as it is established in z domain (e.g. derived from a discrete-time model). The verification has evidenced that this method, apart from overcoming the numerical problem, yields the results comparable to those acquired with LMS PolyMAX, or even considerably better at some frequency bands. 展开更多

We propose a two-step algorithm, where in the first step the stochastic gradient (SG) algorithm is applied to obtain initial estimates of the unknown parameter matrix and in the second step an optimization criterion is introduced for the sparse identification of multivariate ARX systems. Under mild conditions, we prove that by minimizing the criterion function, the zero elements of the unknown parameter matrix can be recovered with a finite number of observations. The recursive least squares identification algorithm (RLS) for large scale multivariable systems requires a large amount of calculations, therefore, the RLS algorithm is difficult to implement on a computer. The computational load of estimation algorithms can be reduced using the hierarchical least squares identification algorithm (HLS) for large scale multivariable systems. The convergence analysis using the Martingale Convergence Theorem indicates that the parameter estimation error (PEE) given by the HLS algorithm is uniformly bounded without a persistent excitation signal and that the PEE consistently converges to zero for the persistent excitation condition. The HLS algorithm has a much lower computational load than the RLS algorithm. 展开更多
