First, the wavelet transform is adopted to decompose the image of refuge chamber, of which low frequency component remains unchanged. Then, three high-frequency components are treated by bilateral filtering, and the image is reconstructed. The result shows that the combination of bilateral filtering and wavelet transform for image denoising can better retain the details which are included in the image, while providing better visual effect. This is superior to using either bilateral filtering or wavelet transform alone. It is useful for perfecting emergency refuge system of coal mines.展开更多

Firstly, we used directional median filter to effectively reduce impulse noise in the spatial domain, which is the main cause of noise in mine. Secondly, we used a Wiener filtration method to mainly reduce the Gaussian noise, and then finally used a multi-wavelet transform to minimize the remaining noise of low-light images in the transform domain. This multi-level image noise reduction method combines spatial and transform domain denoising to enhance benefits, and effectively reduce impulse noise and Gaussian noise in a coal mine, while retaining good detailed image characteristics of the underground for improving quality of images with mixing noise and effective low-light environment.展开更多

First, the image is decomposed into multiscale subbands by wavelet transform. Then, from the top scale to the bottom scale, we apply BF to the approximation subbands and WT to the detail subbands. The filtered subbands are reconstructed back to ap- proximation subbands of the lower scale. Finally, subbands are reconstructed in all the scales, and in this way the denoised image is formed. Different from conventional methods such as WT and BF, it can smooth the low-frequency noise efficiently. Experiment results on the image Lena and Rice show that the peak sig- nal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) is improved by at least 3 dB and 0.7 dB compared with using the WT and BF, respectively. In addition, the computational time of the proposed method is almost comparable with that of WT but much less than that of BF.展开更多

A new feature point extraction method using a threshold shrink operator and non-subsampled wavelet transform (TSO-NSWT) for optical and SAR image registration was proposed. Moreover, the matching for this proposed feature was different from the traditional feature matching strategies and was performed using a similarity measure computed from neighborhood circles in low-frequency bands. Then, a number of reliably matched couples with even distributions were obtained, which assured the accuracy of the registration. Application of the proposed algorithm to SPOT-5 (multi-spectral) and YG-1 (SAR) images showed that a large number of accurately matched couples could be identified. Additionally, both of the root mean square error (RMSE) patterns of the registration parameters computed based on the TSO-NSWT algorithm and traditional NSWT algorithm were analyzed and compared, which further demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The algorithm can supply the crucial step for island image registration and island recognition.展开更多

Because there are a lot of original information at the edge during image processing, thus, we can get the real image data in terms of the data acquisition. The usage of edge is often in the case of some irregular geometric objects, and we determine the contour of the image by combining with signal transmitted data. At the present stage, there are different algorithms in image edge detection, however, different types of algorithms have divergent disadvantages so It is diffi cult to detect the image changes in a reasonable range. We try to use wavelet transformation in image edge detection, making full use of the wave with the high resolution characteristics, and combining multiple images, in order to improve the accuracy of image edge detection.展开更多

The wavelet-based hybrid threshold method may help doctors to know more details on the liver disease through denoising the ultrasound image of the liver. First of all, an analytical expression for the hybrid threshold function is discussed. The wavelet-based hybrid threshold method is then investigated for ultrasound image of the liver. Finally, we test the influence of this parameter on the proposed method with the real ultrasound image corrupted by speckle noise with different variances. Moreover, we compare the proposed method under the varying parameters with the soft-threshold function and the hard-threshold function. Three metrics, which are correlation coefficient, edge preservation index and structural similarity index, are measured to quantify the denoised results of ultrasound liver image. Experimental results demonstrate the potential of the proposed method for ultrasound liver image denosing.展开更多

In order to achieve this objective, the contourlet transform was introduced and a new threshold method, namely CWinShrink, is presented. It shrinks the contourlet coefficients with adaptive shrinkage factors. The shrinkage factors were calculated with reference to the sum of squares of the contourlet coefficients within the neighborhood window. This approach achieves enhanced results for images those are corrupted with additive Gaussian noise. In numerical comparisons with various methods, for a set of noisy images (the PSNR range fi'om 10.86dB to 26.91dB) , the presented method outperforms VisuShrink and Wiener filter in terms of the PSNR. A new wavelet denoising method is introduced for flight flutter testing data, which can improve the estimation of frequency domain identification algorithms. In this method, the testing data is first preprocessed with a gradient inverse weighted filter to initially lower the noise. The redundant wavelet transform is then used to decompose the signal into several levels. A “clean” input is recovered from the noisy data by level dependent thresholding approach, and the noise of output is reduced by a modified spatially selective noise filtration technique. The advantage of the wavelet denoising is illustrated by means of simulated and real data.展开更多

We analyzed the relationship between the "wrap around" effect and the distribution of FRAT (Finite Radon Transform) coefficients first, and then based on study of some properties of the columnwisely FRAT reconstruction procedure, we proposed an energy-based adaptive orthogonal FRIT scheme (EFRIT). Experiments using nonlinear approximation show its superiority in energy concentration over both Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Finite Ridgelet Transform (FRIT). Furthermore, we have modeled the denoising problem and proposed a novel threshold selecting method. Experiments carried out on images containing strong linear singularities and texture components with varying levels of addictive white Gaussian noise show that our method achieves prominent improvement in terms of both SNR and visual quality as compared with that of DWT and FRIT.展开更多
