The impl...We present the analysis of three independent and most widely used image smoothing techniques on a new fractional based convolution edge detector originally constructed by same authors for image edge analysis. The implementation was done using only Gaussian function as its smoothing function based on predefined assumptions and therefore did not scale well for some types of edges and noise. The experiments conducted on this mask using known images with realistic geometry suggested the need for image smoothing adaptation to obtain a more optimal performance. In this paper, we use the structural similarity index measure and show that the adaptation technique for choosing smoothing function has significant advantages over a single function implementation. The new adaptive fractional based convolution mask can smoothly find edges of various types in detail quite significantly. The method can now trap both local discontinuities in intensity and its derivatives as well as locating Dirac edges.展开更多

To reconstruct the 3D image computationally, an efficient implementation of an Auto-Fea...Holoscopic 3D imaging is a true 3D imaging system mimics fly’s eye technique to acquire a true 3D optical model of a real scene. To reconstruct the 3D image computationally, an efficient implementation of an Auto-Feature-Edge (AFE) descriptor algorithm is required that provides an individual feature detector for integration of 3D information to locate objects in the scene. The AFE descriptor plays a key role in simplifying the detection of both edge-based and region-based objects. The detector is based on a Multi-Quantize Adaptive Local Histogram Analysis (MQALHA) algorithm. This is distinctive for each Feature-Edge (FE) block i.e. the large contrast changes (gradients) in FE are easier to localise. The novelty of this work lies in generating a free-noise 3D-Map (3DM) according to a correlation analysis of region contours. This automatically combines the exploitation of the available depth estimation technique with edge-based feature shape recognition technique. The application area consists of two varied domains, which prove the efficiency and robustness of the approach: a) extracting a set of setting feature-edges, for both tracking and mapping process for 3D depthmap estimation, and b) separation and recognition of focus objects in the scene. Experimental results show that the proposed 3DM technique is performed efficiently compared to the state-of-the-art algorithms.展开更多
With the increasing necessities for reliable printed circuit board(PCB) product, there has been a considerable demand for high speed and high precision vision positioning system. To locate a rectangular lead component...With the increasing necessities for reliable printed circuit board(PCB) product, there has been a considerable demand for high speed and high precision vision positioning system. To locate a rectangular lead component with high accuracy and reliability, a new visual positioning method was introduced. Considering the limitations of Ghosal sub-pixel edge detection algorithm, an improved algorithm was proposed, in which Harris corner features were used to coarsely detect the edge points and Zernike moments were adopted to accurately detect the edge points. Besides, two formulas were developed to determine the edge intersections whose sub-pixel coordinates were calculated with bilinear interpolation and conjugate gradient method. The last experimental results show that the proposed method can detect the deflection and offset, and the detection errors are less than 0.04° and 0.02 pixels.展开更多
