The death of Hung Chung-Chiu, along with a series of events, including the Referendum of Lungmen Nuclear Power Plant and Dapu Incident, triggered the White Shirt Movement led by Citizen 1985. The movement, as the local harbinger of Internet-organized demonstration, performed a novel form of citizen activity, teasing out a protesting guerrilla that tactically networked disempowered and dispossessed subjects. The guerrilla utilized local mediascapes in reacting to official force with its flowing tactics, which signify the ceaseless negotiation, battle, and play between government and citizens. Extending Sue-Ellen Case's notion of horizontal practice of politics and the performative, this paper focuses on the various theatrical elements used in its activities, including environmental theater and social networking, in order to delineate the traumatic imaginaries and flowing tactics embodied by the White Shirt Movement. Working within and against one another, imaginaries and tactics travel back and forth between physical and virtual spaces, constituting the mobility and structure of contemporary protest events.展开更多

We used a mixed method. Through a representative, observation and interview with our study subjects explored survey semantic-imaginary symbolic associations that farmers in the community have on both phenomena. We found that both are non-functional at the time when farmers describe the problems they experience the effects and possible solutions to climate variations. We believe that it is essential to explore the language used affected communities when proposing public policies, non-governmental actions and scientific research related to climate variations in local environments as studied here.展开更多
Research on international students’experiences abroad has tended to rely on models of adjustment,integration and/or acculturation to describe their(mis-)encounters with different kinds of people(e.g.,co-nationals,loc...Research on international students’experiences abroad has tended to rely on models of adjustment,integration and/or acculturation to describe their(mis-)encounters with different kinds of people(e.g.,co-nationals,locals and other international students).This paper proposes to use the more fluid concepts of imaginaries and hospitality,leaving behind stages and phases of adaption and acculturation,and focusing on the influence of the Structure on their experiences.Based on a discursive pragmatic analysis of interview data with 20 international students at a top Chinese university,the authors review how the students describe the kind of hospitality experienced at this institution and the influence that it has on their(mis-)encounters.Culturalist,differentialist and essentialist imaginaries(static and fixed views of Chineseness)are often used to justify the lack of encounters and the“segregation”and somewhat“positive discrimination”that they experienced.However,the paper shows that,amongst others,the institutional hospitality management for international students leads to closed contexts of encounters and feelings of exclusion.Although the study serves as a case study and cannot be generalized to the many and varied experiences of international students in other universities in China,some recommendations are made to solve,at least in part,misconceptions about what interculturality and hospitality entail in the internationalization of higher education.展开更多

The complex par...Lee–Yang theory clearly demonstrates where the phase transition of many-body systems occurs and the asymptotic behavior near the phase transition using the partition function under complex parameters. The complex parameters make the direct investigation of Lee–Yang theory in practical systems challenging. Here we construct a non-Hermitian quantum system that can correspond to the one-dimensional Ising model with imaginary parameters through the equality of partition functions. By adjusting the non-Hermitian parameter,we successfully obtain the partition function under different imaginary magnetic fields and observe the Lee–Yang zeros. We also observe the critical behavior of free energy in vicinity of Lee–Yang zero that is consistent with theoretical prediction. Our work provides a protocol to study Lee–Yang zeros of the one-dimensional Ising model using a single-qubit non-Hermitian system.展开更多
Background:To reduce adolescents’social anxiety,the study integrates external factors(social media usage)with internal factors(imaginary audience and appearance-based self-esteem)to internal mechanisms of adolescents...Background:To reduce adolescents’social anxiety,the study integrates external factors(social media usage)with internal factors(imaginary audience and appearance-based self-esteem)to internal mechanisms of adolescents’social anxiety in the Internet age based on objective self-awareness theory and self-esteem importance weighting model.Methods:Utilizing the Social Media Usage Intensity Scale,Social Anxiety Scale,imaginary Audience Scale,and Physical Self Questionnaire,we surveyed 400 junior high school students from three schools in Hubei province,China.Results:A significantly positive correlation is revealed between the intensity of social media usage and both social anxiety and imaginary audience(p<0.001).Conversely,social media usage intensity and appearance self-esteem are significantly negatively correlated(p<0.001).Additionally,the perception of an imaginary audience was negatively correlated with appearance self-esteem(p<0.001).Furthermore,we found that imaginary audience(indirect effect of 0.14,95%CI=[0.02,0.07])and appearance self-esteem(indirect effect of 0.14,95%CI=[0.02,0.07])can respectively act as independent mediators between social networking site use intensity and social anxiety,Additionally,the relationship between imaginary audience and appearance self-esteem can also be chain-mediated(indirect effect of 0.03,95%CI=[0.00,0.02])separately affect the relationship between the two.Conclusion:The imaginary audience serves as an independent mediator that links social media usage intensity to social anxiety among adolescents.Additionally,the observed chain mediation effect involving both the imaginary audience and appearance self-esteem provides novel insights for developing strategies aimed at addressing adolescent social anxiety.展开更多

In this method, four sets of SSA ...The broadband diffuse radiation method is improved to retrieve the aerosol refractive index imaginary part (AIP) and broadband (400-1000 nm mean) single scattering albedo (SSA). In this method, four sets of SSA selection criteria are proposed for quality control. The method is used to retrieve AIP, SSA and absorptive optical thickness (AbOT) from routine hourly-exposed pyrheliometer and paranometer measurements over 11 sites (meteorological observatories) in China during 1998-2003. Apart from one suburban site (Ejin Qi), the other urban sites are all located around big or medium cities. As shown in the retrieval results, annual mean SSA during 1998-2003 changes from 0.941 (Wuhan) to 0.849 (Lanzhou), and AIP from 0.0054 to 0.0203. The 11-site average annual mean SSA and AIP are 0.898 and 0.0119, respectively. SSA during winter is smaller for most sites. There is an evidently positive correlation between SSA and aerosol optical thickness (AOT) for all sites. There is also a positive correlation between SSA and relative humidity for most sites, but a negative correlation for a few sites, such as Kashi and ǚrǚmqi in Northwest China.展开更多

Chemical bonding as well as structural,electronic and optical properties of CsPbF3 are calculated using the highly accurate full potential linearized augmented plane-wave method within the framework of density functio...Chemical bonding as well as structural,electronic and optical properties of CsPbF3 are calculated using the highly accurate full potential linearized augmented plane-wave method within the framework of density functional theory(DFT).The calculated lattice constant is found to be in good agreement with the experimental results.The electron density plots reveal strong ionic bonding in Cs-F and strong covalent bonding in Pb-F.The calculations show that the material is a direct and wide bandgap semiconductor with a fundamental gap at the R-symmetry point.Optical properties such as the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric function,refractive index,extinction coefficient,reflectivity,optical conductivity and absorption coefficient are also calculated.Based on the calculated wide and direct bandgap,as well as other optical properties of the compound,it is predicted that CsPbF_(3) is suitable for optoelectronic devices and anti-reflecting coatings.展开更多
An accurate theoretical description of the dynamic properties of correlated quantum many-body systems,such as the dynamic structure factor S(q,ω),is important in many fields.Unfortunately,highly accurate quantum Mont...An accurate theoretical description of the dynamic properties of correlated quantum many-body systems,such as the dynamic structure factor S(q,ω),is important in many fields.Unfortunately,highly accurate quantum Monte Carlo methods are usually restricted to the imaginary time domain,and the analytic continuation of the imaginary-time density–density correlation function F(q,τ)to real frequencies is a notoriously hard problem.Here,it is argued that often no such analytic continuation is required because by definition,F(q,τ)contains the same physical information as does S(q,ω),only represented unfamiliarly.Specifically,it is shown how one can directly extract key information such as the temperature or quasi-particle excitation energies from theτdomain,which is highly relevant for equation-of-state measurements of matter under extreme conditions[T.Dornheim et al.,Nat.Commun.13,7911(2022)].As a practical example,ab initio path-integral Monte Carlo results for the uniform electron gas(UEG)are considered,and it is shown that even nontrivial processes such as the roton feature of the UEG at low density[T.Dornheim et al.,Commun.Phys.5,304(2022)]are manifested straightforwardly in F(q,τ).A comprehensive overview is given of various useful properties of F(q,τ)and how it relates to the usual dynamic structure factor.In fact,working directly in theτdomain is advantageous for many reasons and opens up multiple avenues for future applications.展开更多

The use of the general scientific principle of the physical reality of imaginary numbers allowed to prove that the relativistic formulas in the existing version of the special relativity theory are wrong, as well as to deny the principle of non-exceeding the speed of light and the hypothesis of monoverse. Corrected relativistic formulas are given and on their basis a theory of hidden Multiverse is proposed, parallel universes of which are mutually invisible. Using data obtained by the spacecrafts WMAP and Planck, it is proved that the hidden Multiverse has a quaternion structure, exists in the six-dimensional space, and forms Hyperverse together with other Multiverses. It is shown that the parallel universes of the hidden Multiverse are continuously drifting in multidimensional space, touch each other in many places and are even partially immersed in each other, forming portals. It is alleged that the search for extraterrestrial life in deep space is devoid of meaning, as you can even walk to the adjacent parallel universes through portals, which are anomalous zones on Earth. Numerical results of the new model show the characteristics of effective dielectric constants for the air–sea surface film–sea water medium as follows. The effective dielectric constants decrease with increasing relative dielectric constants of the sea surface films. The effective dielectric constants decrease in horizontal polarization(abbr. HH polarization) and increase in VV vertical polarization(abbr. VV polarization) with increasing radar incident angle. Effective dielectric constants vary with relative sea surface film thickness as a cosinusoidal function of sea surface film thickness. Effective dielectric constant of VV polarization is larger than that of HH polarization. Two potential applications are found with our model, i.e., the retrieval of dielectric constants from the sea surface film, and the film thickness retrieval with our model. Our model has a highly significant influence on improving the technology related to the remote sensing of sea surface films.展开更多

文摘Lee–Yang theory clearly demonstrates where the phase transition of many-body systems occurs and the asymptotic behavior near the phase transition using the partition function under complex parameters. The complex parameters make the direct investigation of Lee–Yang theory in practical systems challenging. Here we construct a non-Hermitian quantum system that can correspond to the one-dimensional Ising model with imaginary parameters through the equality of partition functions. By adjusting the non-Hermitian parameter,we successfully obtain the partition function under different imaginary magnetic fields and observe the Lee–Yang zeros. We also observe the critical behavior of free energy in vicinity of Lee–Yang zero that is consistent with theoretical prediction. Our work provides a protocol to study Lee–Yang zeros of the one-dimensional Ising model using a single-qubit non-Hermitian system.

文摘Background:To reduce adolescents’social anxiety,the study integrates external factors(social media usage)with internal factors(imaginary audience and appearance-based self-esteem)to internal mechanisms of adolescents’social anxiety in the Internet age based on objective self-awareness theory and self-esteem importance weighting model.Methods:Utilizing the Social Media Usage Intensity Scale,Social Anxiety Scale,imaginary Audience Scale,and Physical Self Questionnaire,we surveyed 400 junior high school students from three schools in Hubei province,China.Results:A significantly positive correlation is revealed between the intensity of social media usage and both social anxiety and imaginary audience(p<0.001).Conversely,social media usage intensity and appearance self-esteem are significantly negatively correlated(p<0.001).Additionally,the perception of an imaginary audience was negatively correlated with appearance self-esteem(p<0.001).Furthermore,we found that imaginary audience(indirect effect of 0.14,95%CI=[0.02,0.07])and appearance self-esteem(indirect effect of 0.14,95%CI=[0.02,0.07])can respectively act as independent mediators between social networking site use intensity and social anxiety,Additionally,the relationship between imaginary audience and appearance self-esteem can also be chain-mediated(indirect effect of 0.03,95%CI=[0.00,0.02])separately affect the relationship between the two.Conclusion:The imaginary audience serves as an independent mediator that links social media usage intensity to social anxiety among adolescents.Additionally,the observed chain mediation effect involving both the imaginary audience and appearance self-esteem provides novel insights for developing strategies aimed at addressing adolescent social anxiety.
文摘The end of modernism questions reality and its theoretical description,and various attempts of postmodern rethinking of the social emerge-from denial,assertion of the disappearance of the social to its salvation through radical rethinking.Theorizing around the imaginary emerges and continues as a result of this rethinking.Cornelius Castoriadis,for example,absolutizes the concept of the imaginary,which,in his opinion,even contains the rational.Charles Taylor gives imaginary,though important,but limited role as a background knowledge.Speaking of the imaginary,one cannot,of course,ignore Benedict Andersen’s imaginary communities.According to Andersen,the“imagination”of a nation,like any other community,reflects not the fact that they are“invented”or“constructed”but that they are the result of human practice,that social reality is a socio-historical and cultural product.Nation differs from other communities in the style of representation,namely,the representation-understanding,first of all,of space and time.A specific moment in time is connected not only with the past and future,but also with the same moment in another time and space measurement.People in this case,communicate and socialize through books,newspapers,and national languages.Most importantly,the nation as an imaginary community opposes itself to other communities,distinguishes itself from them,and strives for autonomy.And the guarantee of autonomy is the sovereign state,the nation-state,therefore the nation is always connected with the state and the territory of the exercise of its monopoly right.That is,the nation is an imaginary community that is real only to the extent that it is correlated with the modern territorial state.According to the author,the transformation of the national imaginary under the conditions of globalization is characterized by the loss of attachment to the territory,by the fact that territoriality ceases to be the main,organizing principle of social life.Social practices are increasingly formed beyond borders,belonging to ethnicity,national identity is not determined by territory and citizenship.Despite this,we must not forget that globalization is not a finished project.The transformation of the national imaginary should be viewed not only as the emergence of new imaginary communities,whether national or transnational,but also against the backdrop of interaction and even struggle between traditional forms of social practices and new ones,as evidenced by the growth of ethnic conflicts and separatist movements.According to Appudurai,this is also a consequence of globalization processes.And how this confrontation will end,the question remains open.
文摘The broadband diffuse radiation method is improved to retrieve the aerosol refractive index imaginary part (AIP) and broadband (400-1000 nm mean) single scattering albedo (SSA). In this method, four sets of SSA selection criteria are proposed for quality control. The method is used to retrieve AIP, SSA and absorptive optical thickness (AbOT) from routine hourly-exposed pyrheliometer and paranometer measurements over 11 sites (meteorological observatories) in China during 1998-2003. Apart from one suburban site (Ejin Qi), the other urban sites are all located around big or medium cities. As shown in the retrieval results, annual mean SSA during 1998-2003 changes from 0.941 (Wuhan) to 0.849 (Lanzhou), and AIP from 0.0054 to 0.0203. The 11-site average annual mean SSA and AIP are 0.898 and 0.0119, respectively. SSA during winter is smaller for most sites. There is an evidently positive correlation between SSA and aerosol optical thickness (AOT) for all sites. There is also a positive correlation between SSA and relative humidity for most sites, but a negative correlation for a few sites, such as Kashi and ǚrǚmqi in Northwest China.

文摘We develop a solar simulator composed of multiple xenon arc lamps combined with a faceted paraboloidal dish concentrator to drive a Stirling engine in our laboratory for all-weather indoor testing.Experiments and numerical analysis are performed to determine the radiation flux and temperature distributions on the solar receiver surface.Based on the theoretical results,we present a receiver design for a solar Stirling engine with involute tubes closely conforming to the imaginary hemisphere to obtain a substantially uniform temperature field and a high solarthermal efficiency of 67.1%.

文摘Negative refractive index has drawn a great deal of attention due to its unique properties and practical applications in wave systems.To promote the related physics in thermotics,here we manage to coin a complex thermal conductivity whose imaginary part corresponds to the real part of complex refractive index.Therefore,the thermal counterpart of negative refractive index is just negative imaginary thermal conductivity,which is featured by the opposite directions of energy flow and wave vector in thermal conduction and advection,thus called negative thermal transport herein.To avoid violating causality,we design an open system with energy exchange and explore three different cases to reveal negative thermal transport.We further provide experimental suggestions with a solid ring structure.All finite-element simulations agree with theoretical analyses,indicating that negative thermal transport is physically feasible.These results have potential applications such as designing the inverse Doppler effect in thermal conduction and advection.
文摘Chemical bonding as well as structural,electronic and optical properties of CsPbF3 are calculated using the highly accurate full potential linearized augmented plane-wave method within the framework of density functional theory(DFT).The calculated lattice constant is found to be in good agreement with the experimental results.The electron density plots reveal strong ionic bonding in Cs-F and strong covalent bonding in Pb-F.The calculations show that the material is a direct and wide bandgap semiconductor with a fundamental gap at the R-symmetry point.Optical properties such as the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric function,refractive index,extinction coefficient,reflectivity,optical conductivity and absorption coefficient are also calculated.Based on the calculated wide and direct bandgap,as well as other optical properties of the compound,it is predicted that CsPbF_(3) is suitable for optoelectronic devices and anti-reflecting coatings.

文摘An accurate theoretical description of the dynamic properties of correlated quantum many-body systems,such as the dynamic structure factor S(q,ω),is important in many fields.Unfortunately,highly accurate quantum Monte Carlo methods are usually restricted to the imaginary time domain,and the analytic continuation of the imaginary-time density–density correlation function F(q,τ)to real frequencies is a notoriously hard problem.Here,it is argued that often no such analytic continuation is required because by definition,F(q,τ)contains the same physical information as does S(q,ω),only represented unfamiliarly.Specifically,it is shown how one can directly extract key information such as the temperature or quasi-particle excitation energies from theτdomain,which is highly relevant for equation-of-state measurements of matter under extreme conditions[T.Dornheim et al.,Nat.Commun.13,7911(2022)].As a practical example,ab initio path-integral Monte Carlo results for the uniform electron gas(UEG)are considered,and it is shown that even nontrivial processes such as the roton feature of the UEG at low density[T.Dornheim et al.,Commun.Phys.5,304(2022)]are manifested straightforwardly in F(q,τ).A comprehensive overview is given of various useful properties of F(q,τ)and how it relates to the usual dynamic structure factor.In fact,working directly in theτdomain is advantageous for many reasons and opens up multiple avenues for future applications.

文摘We use the QCD inspired model to analyze the ratio of the real to the imaginary for pp and pp elastic scatterings. A calculation for the ratio of the real to the imaginary is performed in which the contributions from gluongluon interaction, quark-quark interaction, quark-gluon interaction, and odd eikonal profile function are included. Our results show that the QCD inspired model gives a good fit to the LHC experimental data.
文摘Theoretical and experimental evidence of physical reality of imaginary numbers using interpretation of Ohm’s law for electrical AC circuits proposed in 1897 by Steinmetz was presented. Other pieces of evidence are mentioned as well. The use of the general scientific principle of the physical reality of imaginary numbers allowed to prove that the relativistic formulas in the existing version of the special relativity theory are wrong, as well as to deny the principle of non-exceeding the speed of light and the hypothesis of monoverse. Corrected relativistic formulas are given and on their basis a theory of hidden Multiverse is proposed, parallel universes of which are mutually invisible. Using data obtained by the spacecrafts WMAP and Planck, it is proved that the hidden Multiverse has a quaternion structure, exists in the six-dimensional space, and forms Hyperverse together with other Multiverses. It is shown that the parallel universes of the hidden Multiverse are continuously drifting in multidimensional space, touch each other in many places and are even partially immersed in each other, forming portals. It is alleged that the search for extraterrestrial life in deep space is devoid of meaning, as you can even walk to the adjacent parallel universes through portals, which are anomalous zones on Earth. Moreover, extraterrestrial super civilizations have already found us long time ago and are located on Earth. The attempts to contact these super civilizations are meaningless as well, because such contacts are possible only at their wish. Consequently, to make the contacts possible, we need to convince super civilizations that human civilization is of interest to them and that it has a sufficiently high intelligence. It is shown how the human super intelligence over can be realized.

文摘Studies of surface film medium on the sea surface are carried out in this paper for developing the technology to automatically detect and classify sea surface films, and an effective dielectric constant model of electromagnetic backscattering from a stratified air–ocean interface. Numerical results of the new model show the characteristics of effective dielectric constants for the air–sea surface film–sea water medium as follows. The effective dielectric constants decrease with increasing relative dielectric constants of the sea surface films. The effective dielectric constants decrease in horizontal polarization(abbr. HH polarization) and increase in VV vertical polarization(abbr. VV polarization) with increasing radar incident angle. Effective dielectric constants vary with relative sea surface film thickness as a cosinusoidal function of sea surface film thickness. Effective dielectric constant of VV polarization is larger than that of HH polarization. Two potential applications are found with our model, i.e., the retrieval of dielectric constants from the sea surface film, and the film thickness retrieval with our model. Our model has a highly significant influence on improving the technology related to the remote sensing of sea surface films.
文摘Dark matter and dark energy phenomenon which has been totally incomprehensible until very recently is explained by existence, besides our Universe, other invisible parallel universes in the hidden Multiverse. Such explanation of dark matter and dark energy phenomenon in astrophysics has become possible only after proving of the principle of physical reality of imaginary numbers discovered in mathematics 500 years ago. And the principle of physical reality of imaginary numbers has made the postulate of light speed non-exceedance in the special theory of relativity unnecessary. Therefore,?all relativistic formulas in this theory should be adjusted. As follows from the adjusted relativistic formulas, we live in Multiverse rather than in Monoverse. All parallel universes of the Multiverse are mutually invisible, therefore Multiverse is called hidden. WMAP and Planck data analysis has showed that the hidden Multiverse has a quaternion structure and contains 20?-?22 parallel universes, of which 5?-?6 are adjacent to our universe, and others are further. And these parallel universes are linked by unidirectional and bidirectional portals. Some portals link the hidden Multiverse with other Multiverses, which form a dark space. The multiverses of dark space together with the hidden Multiverse form Hyperverse.
