After graduating with excellence from USTC, which had been relocated to Hefei, Anhui Province, he stayed on as a faculty until his passing away. During this period he visited the University of California, Los Angeles, USA, from 1980 to 1982, 1989 to 1991, and 2000 to 2001 for research colla- boration.
