The Rise of China with Cultural Soft Power in the Age of Globalization

Culture has been exerting an even greater influence on China’s image construction and nation branding in today’s globalizing world.As“culture”is the core of Chinese soft power strategy,the concept of“soft power”has been redefined as“cultural soft power”in the Chinese context.Cultural instruments,including the Chinese language as well as traditional and popular cultures,are widely implemented as the“charm”tools to wield and project China’s soft power.Cultural diplomacy is also viewed as an effective way to promote an understanding of China’s ideals,support Chinese economic goals and enhance Chinese national security in subtle,wide-ranging,and sustainable ways.Although Chinese soft power is still in its“embryonic phase”,partly due to its close link to the country’s economic performance and huge market attraction as well as the disadvantages generated by the political and ideological issues,it has contributed greatly to expand China’s international influence and create a circle of like-minded allies on its periphery,in which process its increasing importance shall not be neglected.

Marie Corelli＇s The Secret Power in Bengali Rendering： Translation, Indianisation and Cultural Criss-crossing

Since the 1980s and 1980s, a new trend in the discipline of Translation Studies has emerged beyond the boundaries of Europe. Scholars from post-colonial nations like Canada, India, China, Africa, and Latin America have argued that translation was used in the past as a means of depriving the colonised people of their voice. In the colonial structure, the hegemonic culture used to dominate, making the others subservient. Translation in the colonial period reflected that hierarchy. In this light, decades after the independence of India, translation from a reverse direction, that is, rendering popular English texts in minority languages, may be seen as a process of＂writing back＂. Even if the original text concerned is not a ＂political＂ writing, and the translation is apparently meant for ＂safer-zones＂ such as ＂young students＇ literature＂, a tendency of claiming cultural equality, overlapping the translator＇s own cultural and literary heritage with the original author＇s, can be discovered. This paper attempts to focus on these issues in a particular text—the 1995 Bengali translation of Marie Corelli＇s 1921 science-fiction, The Secret Power. The purpose of this paper is to explore how Sudhindranath Raha has intermingled Biblical references and Western contexts with allusions to Indian culture and Sanskrit literature, thereby claiming a space for mutual understanding and respect between two cultures.

On Impacts of Cultural Soft Power on Translation -by Analyzing Popularity of Yu Hua’s Works in US

With the emergence of the Cultural School in the 1990s, researchers began to deem that translation is inevitably associated with political tendencies and aspirations of social groups, and the relationship between source language and target language has never gone beyond politics and are always entangled with power. From political perspective, this thesis will take the popularity of Yu Hua’s works in US into account to analyze and explore how cultural soft power, has impacts on translation activities, especially translation direction and source text selection.

Non-dominated sorting culture differential evolution algorithm for multi-objective optimal operation of Wind-Solar-Hydro complementary power generation system

Due to the intermittency and instability of Wind-Solar energy and easy compensation of hydropower, this study proposes a Wind-Solar-Hydro power optimal scheduling model. This model is aimed at maximizing the total system power generation and the minimum ten-day joint output. To effectively optimize the multi-objective model, a new algorithm named non-dominated sorting culture differential evolution algorithm(NSCDE) is proposed. The feasibility of NSCDE was verified through several well-known benchmark problems. It was then applied to the Jinping Wind-Solar-Hydro complementary power generation system. The results demonstrate that NSCDE can provide decision makers a series of optimized scheduling schemes.

Sustainable Investment Forecasting of Power Grids Based on theDeep Restricted Boltzmann Machine Optimized by the Lion Algorithm

This paper proposes a new power grid investment prediction model based on the deep restricted Boltzmann machine(DRBM)optimized by the Lion algorithm(LA).Firstly,two factors including transmission and distribution price reform(TDPR)and 5G station construction were comprehensively incorporated into the consideration of influencing factors,and the fuzzy threshold method was used to screen out critical influencing factors.Then,the LA was used to optimize the parameters of the DRBM model to improve the model’s prediction accuracy,and the model was trained with the selected influencing factors and investment.Finally,the LA-DRBM model was used to predict the investment of a power grid enterprise,and the final prediction result was obtained by modifying the initial result with the modifying factors.The LA-DRBMmodel compensates for the deficiency of the singlemodel,and greatly improves the investment prediction accuracy of the power grid.In this study,a power grid enterprise was taken as an example to carry out an empirical analysis to prove the validity of the model,and a comparison with the RBM,support vector machine(SVM),back propagation neural network(BPNN),and regression model was conducted to verify the superiority of the model.The conclusion indicates that the proposed model has a strong generalization ability and good robustness,is able to abstract the combination of low-level features into high-level features,and can improve the efficiency of the model’s calculations for investment prediction of power grid enterprises.

Cultural Context in Literary Translation——from the Perspective of Explanatory Function and Restrictive Function

Literary translation is not merely the transformation of words,but it is a cross-cultural activity from cultural perspective.The paper mainly explores the concept of cultural context and the relationship between cultural context and literary translation,and analyzes explanatory function and restrictive function of cultural context in literary translation.If these functions can be involved in the literary translation,it is necessary for translators to resort to different translation strategies according to the different target cultural context.The selection of translation strategies is never random,but constrained by the cultural context.

Research on Impact Mechanism and Power System of Urbanization in West China

Based on the current situation of urbanization development in West China, this paper analyses main factors responsible for sluggish urbanization in West China as follows: impact of environment factor, impact of population quality and quantity, lagging of public product service, stagnancy of technological development, backwardness of slow growth, and rigidity of system building. And then this paper analyses the restriction mechanism of urbanization in West China: at the superficial level, the constraints of urbanization in West China arise from the shortage of capital; at the profound level, the backward culture contributes to the constraints of urbanization in West China. The thread of resolving restriction mechanism of urbanization in West China is put forward from system, economy and culture. On the basis of this thread, we construct the power system for the development of urbanization in West China. The power system for urbanization in West China should be propelled by "four forces", namely, pull of external forces, cohesive strength of regional market environment, expansion power inside countryside, traction of industrial structure adjustment. Innovation is the engine of impetus for urbanization in West China; spatial clustering and modernization of industry is the major driving force for urbanization; the government behaviour, driving of foreign investment, great projects and other forces are supplementary power. Via the main power, we should take the market as medium to achieve the role of power in promoting urbanization.

Study on Construction of Marine Culture and Marine Power

Through the development of marine culture to enhance the national cultural soft power, speed up the construction of marine power, has become a strategic choice for the future development of the ocean in China.
