Based on ANSYS/LS-DYNA, the dynamics analysis software, and using nonlinear dynamic finite element method, the process of a submarine pipeline impacted by dropped objects is simulated, Some conclusions are drawn: First, the damage depth of suspended pipe is smaller than that of the bare pipe in case of the same fall energy, and with the increase of fall energy, the difference grows; Second, with the falling object's speed and mass rising, the deformation of pipeline intensifies at the impact site and the maximum vibration amplitude of submarine pipeline increases; Third, when the fall energy is equal, the smaller the contact area of falling objects and pipeline is, the greater the damage depth of pipeline becomes; Fourth, changes of seabed soil parameters (shear elastic modulus, internal friction angle, density) have less influence on the suspended pipeline's dent depths and maximum vibration amplitude, 展开更多

Al-Sc and Al-Ti semi-infinite targets were impacted by high-speed projectiles at velocities of 0.8, 1.0, 1.2 and 1.5 km/s, respectively. It is found that the Al-Sc targets demonstrate more excellent ability to resist high-speed impact. It is concluded that different microstructures of Al-Sc and Al-Ti alloys, including different grain sizes and secondary particles precipitated in the matrix, result in their greatly different capabilities of resisting impact. Furthermore, the effect of the size range ofnanoscale A13Sc precipitate in A1-Sc alloy on the resistance of high-speed impact was investigated. In addition, computer simulations and validation of these simulations were developed which fairly accurately represented residual crater shapes/geometries. Validated computer simulations allowed representative extrapolations of impact craters well beyond the laboratory where melt and solidification occurred at the crater wall, especially for hypervelocity impact (〉5 km/s). 展开更多

Taylor impact is a widely used strategy in which a flat-nosed projectile is fired onto a rigid anvil directly to determine the dynamic strength of rod specimens. Nowadays, the rigid anvil is often replaced by an output target bar to ensure the accuracy of measurement via recording strain signals in the output bar. For testing the dynamic strength of low-density materials, a low-impedance target bar, which exhibits viscoelastic characteristics is often employed. In this paper, an extended Taylor model is proposed to improve the idealization of treating the target bar as perfectly rigid material in the classic Taylor model, and the viscoelastic effect of the target bar is incorporated. The viscoelastic target bar is depicted by two elastic springs and one dashpot. Based on the plastic shock wave theory in the flat-nosed projectile associated with the viscoelastic wave analysis in the target bar, the viscoelastic effect of the target bar on the impact response of the flat-nosed projectile is investigated. The finite element simulation is also carried out to verify the theoretical model,and good agreement is found. The present theoretical model is also called the Taylor-cylinder Hopkinson impact, which provides a more accurate way to identify the dynamic material parameters. The dynamic responses of the present model are further compared with previous elastic and rigid target bar models. It is found that the viscoelastic effect of the target bar should be taken into consideration in the Taylor-cylinder Hopkinson impact test for low-impedance materials. 展开更多

The transient response of an unlimited cylindrical cavity buried in the infinite elastic soil subjected to an anti-plane impact load along the cavern axis direction was studied.Using Laplace transform combining with contour integral of the Laplace inverse transform specifically,the general analytical expressions of the soil displacement and stress are obtained in the time domain,respectively.And the numerical solutions of the problem computed by analytical expressions are presented.In the time domain,the dynamic responses of the infinite elastic soil are analyzed,and the calculation results are compared with those from numerical inversion proposed by Durbin and the static results.One observes good agreement between analytical and numerical inversion results,lending the further support to the method presented.Finally,some valuable shear wave propagation laws are gained: the displacement of the soil remains zero before the wave arrival,and after the shear wave arrival,the stress and the displacement at this point increase abruptly,then reduce and tend to the static value gradually at last.The wave attenuates along the radial,therefore the farther the wave is from the source,the smaller the stress and the displacement are,and the stress and the displacement are just functions of the radial distance from the axis. 展开更多

The methods involve mainly sutra experience theory, numerical analysis, and experimental method. Owing to the complicacy of the bridge pier impacted by a vessel, there are few research derived with the sutra mechanics model and the piers impacted by autos. The dynamic response is studied here under the assumption of the rigid-plastic small-deformation for the pier impacted by auto. According to the Parkes beam model, the rigid-plastic theoretical solution is deduced. The final deformation is calculated by a practical example for the pier impacted by auto. 展开更多

The mechanical behaviors and energy dissipation characteristics of heat-treated granite were investigated under repeated impact loading.The granite samples were firstly heat-treated at the temperature of 20℃,200℃,400℃,and 600℃,respectively.The thermal damage characteristics of these samples were then observed and measured before impact tests.Dynamic impact compression tests finally were carried out using a modified split-Hopkinson pressure bar under three impact velocities of 12 m/s,15 m/s,and 18 m/s.These test results show that the mineral composition and the main oxides of the granite do not change with these treatment temperatures.The number of microcracks and microvoids decreases in the sample after 200℃ treatment.The mechanical properties of a sample after 600℃ treatment were rapidly deteriorated under the same impact velocity.The average of peak stress is much smaller than those after 20℃,200℃ and 400℃ treatments.The heat-treated samples have an energy threshold each.When the dissipated energy of a sample under a single impact is less than this threshold,the repeated impacts hardly lead to further damage accumulation even if its total breakage energy dissipation(BED)density is large.Under the same number of repeated impacts,the cumulative BED density of a sample after 600℃ treatment is the largest and its damage evolves most quickly.The total BED density of the sample after 200℃ treatment is the highest,which implies that this sample has better resistance to repeated impact,thus having less crack initiation and growth. 展开更多

Split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)tests were conducted on pre-rolled AZ31 magnesium alloy at 150–350℃ with strain rates of 2150s-1,3430s^(-1) and 4160s-1.The mechanical response,microstructural evolution and accommodation mechanism of the pre-rolled AZ31 magnesium alloy under high-speed impact loading were investigated.The twin and shear band are prevailing at low temperature,and the coexistence of twins and recrystallized grains is the dominant microstructure at medium temperature,while at high temperature,dynamic recrystallization(DRX)is almost complete.The increment of temperature reduces the critical condition difference between twinning and DRX,and the recrystallized temperature decreases with increasing strain rate.The mechanical response is related to the competition among the shear band strengthen,the twin strengthen and the fine grain strengthen and determined by the prevailing grain structure.The fine grain strengthen could compensate soften caused by the temperature increase and the reduction of twin and shear band.During high-speed deformation,different twin variants,introduced by pre-rolling,induce different deformation mechanism to accommodate plastic deformation and are in favor for non-basal slip.At low temperature,the high-speed deformation is achieved by twinning,dislocation slip and the following deformation shear band at different deformation stages.At high temperature,the high-speed deformation is realized by twinning and dislocation slip of early deformation stage,transition shear band of medium deformation stage and DRX of final deformation stage. 展开更多

The generalized Fourier-series method was used to derive the characteristic equation and the characteristic function of the system. The analytical solutions of the impact responses for the system were presented. The responses can be divided into two parts: elastic responses and rigid responses. To investigate the effect of void defects on the shock response of hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane(CL-20)co-crystals,shock responses of CL-20 co-crystals with energetic materials ligands trinitrotoluene(TNT),1,3-dinitrobenzene(DNB),solvents ligands dimethyl carbonate(DMC) and gamma-butyrolactone(GBL)with void were simulated,using molecular dynamics method and reactive force field.It is found that the CL-20 co-crystals with void defects will form hot spots when impacted,significantly affecting the decomposition of molecules around the void.The degree of molecular fragmentation is relatively low under the reflection velocity of 2 km/s,and the main reactions are the formation of dimer and the shedding of nitro groups.The existence of voids reduces the safety of CL-20 co-crystals,which induced the sensitivity of energetic co-crystals CL-20/TNT and CL-20/DNB to increase more significantly.Detonation has occurred under the reflection velocity of 4 km/s,energetic co-crystals are easier to polymerize than solvent co-crystals,and are not obviously affected by voids.The results show that the energy of the wave decreases after sweeping over the void,which reduces the chemical reaction frequency downstream of the void and affects the detonation performance,especially the solvent co-crystals. 展开更多

The generalized ray method(GRM) has been successfully used to study the transient elastic wave transmitting in the beams,planar trusses,space frames and infinite layered media.In this letter,the GRM is extended to investigate the early short time transient responses of laminated composite cylindrical shells under impact load.By using the Laplace transformation and referring to the boundary conditions,the ray groups transmitting in the finite laminated cylindrical shells under the shock load are obtained and the transient response related to each ray group can be derived via FFT algorithm.From the numerical results,it is shown that the early short time transient accelerations of the laminated composite cylindrical shell under impact loads are very large.But the short time transient shear strain and displacement are very small. 展开更多

Due to the unique deformation characteristics of auxetic materials(Poisson’s ratioμ<0),they have better shock resistance and energy absorption properties than traditional materials.Inspired by the concept of variable crosssection design,a new auxetic re-entrant honeycomb structure is designed in this study.The detailed design method of re-entrant honeycomb with variable cross-section(VCRH)is provided,and five VCRH structures with the same relative density and different cross-section change rates are proposed.The in-plane impact resistance and energy absorption abilities of VCRH under constant velocity are investigated by ABAQUS/EXPLICIT.The results show that the introduction of variable cross-section design can effectively improve the impact resistance and energy absorption abilities of auxetic re-entrant honeycombs.The VCRH structure has better Young’s modulus,plateau stress,and specific energy absorption(SEA)than traditional re-entrant honeycomb(RH).The influence of microstructure parameters(such as cross-section change rateα)on the dynamic impact performance of VCRH is also studied.Results show that,with the increase in impact velocity andα,the plateau stress and SEA of VCRH increase.A positive correlation is also found between the energy absorption efficiency,impact load uniformity andαunder both medium and high impact speeds.These results can provide a reference for designing improved auxetic re-entrant honeycomb structures. 展开更多

In order to reduce the damage of ordinary gravity dam impacted by boulders in debris flow,a blocks-combined dam based practical project is proposed.The dynamic response of the proposed dam under impact load is investigated by using ABAQUS finite element software.Considering the impact velocity and impact height,the anti-impact performance of blocks-combined dam is discussed in terms of deformation,displacement,impact force,acceleration,and energy,and is compared with that of ordinary dam.Results show that the displacement,impact force and acceleration of dam increase with the increase of impact velocity and height.The impact energy of blocks-combined dam is mainly absorbed and consumed by the friction between the component interfaces,which is related to the location of impact point.Compared with the ordinary gravity dam,the blocks-combined dam has better impact resistance to boulders in debris flow. 展开更多

ELASTIC-PLASTIC DYNAMIC RESPONSE OF A CANTILEVER BEAM SUBJECTED TO OBLIQUE IMPACT AT ITS TIP

By employing large deformation governing equations expressed in the form of finite difference, the dynamic responses of an elastic, perfectly plastic cantilever subjected to an oblique impact at its tip was numerically studied. Through analyzing the instantaneous distribution of the yield function (φ = |M/Mo| + (N/No)^2), bending moment and axial force during the early stage of the response, the elastic-plastic deformation mechanism and the influence of axial component of an oblique impact on the dynamic response of a cantilever beam were discussed. The present analysis shows that the deformation mechanism of an elastic-plastic cantilever subjected to an oblique impact consists of four phases, i.e. ‘the expanding compressed plastic region' mode; the ‘generalized traveling plastic hinge' and ‘shrinking plastic region' mixed mode; the ‘stationary plastic hinge' mode and ‘elastic vibration' mode. Compared with the two-phase deformation mode obtained by using the rigid, perfectly plastic approach, the mode of shrinking plastic region that occurred instantly after the oblique impact and the mode of stationary hinge were both confirmed. The primary features of the deformation mechanism are captured by both analysis methods. It has also been found that the beam's deformation is mainly controlled by the axial component of the oblique impact in the early phase of the dynamic response, the deformation mechanism is obviously different from the case of a transverse impact. With further development of the response, the axial component attenuates rapidly and gives negligible contribution to the yielding of the beam cross-section. At the same time, the bending moments along the cantilever develop gradually and dominate the beam's deformation. The numerical results indicate that the mass, impact speed and oblique angle are the important factors that influence the elastic-plastic dynamic response of a cantilever beam. 展开更多

In this paper, multi-valued responses and dynamic properties of a nonlinear vibro-impact system with a unilateral nonzero offset barrier are studied. Based on the Krylov-Bogoliubov averaging method and Zhuravlev non-smooth trans- formation, the frequency response, stability conditions, and the equation of backbone curve are derived. Results show that in some conditions impact system may have two or four steady-state solutions, which are interesting and not mentioned for a vibro-impact system with the existence of frequency island phenomena. Then, the classification of the steady-state solutions is discussed, and it is shown that the nontrivial steady-state solutions may lose stability by saddle node bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation. Furthermore, a criterion for avoiding the jump phenomenon is derived and verified. Lastly, it is found that the distance between the system's static equilibrium position and the barrier can lead to jump phenomenon under hardening type of nonlinearity stiffness. 展开更多

Based on large deflection theory, a discretely stiffened plate model has been used. The tangential stresses of stiffeners and in-plane displacement are neglected. Appling the Hamilton's principle, the motion equations of stiffened plates are obtained. The deflection of the plate is taken as Fourier series, and using Galerkin method the discrete equations can be deduced, which can be solved easily by Runge-Kutta method. The dynamic buckling loads of the stiffened plates are obtained form Budiansky-Roth criterion. 展开更多

The wave transmission character of helical spring is applied to establish 2-DOF model of impacted vehicle on the wave impact theory. Considering the concrete structure of helical spring, corresponding responses under different impact frequency of the vehicle are imitated. The reason why the vehicle floor overresponds in some special frequency fields is explored based on analyzing the responses. When the impactions are in low frequency, the change of the spring has not been considered, but this does not affect the results. Because the transmission characters of velocity and acceleration are unanimous in helical spring, the responses characters of velocity and acceleration arc also unanimous, the only difference is the magnitude, which can make use of acceleration responses to analyse velocity responses. 展开更多

Objective: To study the local inflammatory stress response and pain mediator secretion after impacted wisdom tooth extraction with high-speed turbine drill combined with original luxator. Methods: Patients who received impacted wisdom tooth extraction in the First People's Hospital ofYunnan Province between March 2014 and June 2017 were selected as the research objects and randomly divided into the observation group who accepted impacted wisdom tooth extraction with high-speed turbine drill combined with original luxator and the control group who accepted impacted wisdom tooth extraction with traditional chisel. The contents of inflammatory mediators, stress mediators and pain mediators in gingival crevicular fluid were measured before surgery and 3 days after surgery. Results: Three days after surgery, PTX3, ICAM1, MPO, PGE2, PPARγ, ROS, MDA, 5-HT, CGRP, SP, Gal and ATP contents in gingival crevicular fluid of both groups were higher than those before surgery whereas GPx and T-AOC contents were significantly lower than those before surgery, and PTX3, ICAM1, MPO, PGE2, PPARγ, ROS, MDA, 5-HT, CGRP, SP, Gal and ATP contents in gingival crevicular fluid of observation group were lower than those of control group whereas GPx and T-AOC contents were significantly higher than those of control group. Conclusions: The impacted wisdom tooth extraction with high-speed turbine drill combined with original luxator can reduce the local inflammatory stress response and inhibit the secretion of pain mediators. 展开更多

Individuals,local communities,environmental associations,private organizations,and public representatives and bodies may all be aggrieved by environmental problems concerning poor air quality,illegal waste disposal,water contamination,and general pollution.Environmental complaints represent the expressions of dissatisfaction with these issues.As the timeconsuming of managing a large number of complaints,text mining may be useful for automatically extracting information on stakeholder priorities and concerns.The paper used text mining and semantic network analysis to crawl relevant keywords about environmental complaints from two online complaint submission systems:online claim submission system of Regional Agency for Prevention,Environment and Energy(Arpae)(“Contact Arpae”);and Arpae's internal platform for environmental pollution(“Environmental incident reporting portal”)in the Emilia-Romagna Region,Italy.We evaluated the total of 2477 records and classified this information based on the claim topic(air pollution,water pollution,noise pollution,waste,odor,soil,weather-climate,sea-coast,and electromagnetic radiation)and geographical distribution.Then,this paper used natural language processing to extract keywords from the dataset,and classified keywords ranking higher in Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency(TF-IDF)based on the driver,pressure,state,impact,and response(DPSIR)framework.This study provided a systemic approach to understanding the interaction between people and environment in different geographical contexts and builds sustainable and healthy communities.The results showed that most complaints are from the public and associated with air pollution and odor.Factories(particularly foundries and ceramic industries)and farms are identified as the drivers of environmental issues.Citizen believed that environmental issues mainly affect human well-being.Moreover,the keywords of“odor”,“report”,“request”,“presence”,“municipality”,and“hours”were the most influential and meaningful concepts,as demonstrated by their high degree and betweenness centrality values.Keywords connecting odor(classified as impacts)and air pollution(classified as state)were the most important(such as“odor-burnt plastic”and“odor-acrid”).Complainants perceived odor annoyance as a primary environmental concern,possibly related to two main drivers:“odor-factory”and“odorsfarms”.The proposed approach has several theoretical and practical implications:text mining may quickly and efficiently address citizen needs,providing the basis toward automating(even partially)the complaint process;and the DPSIR framework might support the planning and organization of information and the identification of stakeholder concerns and priorities,as well as metrics and indicators for their assessment.Therefore,integration of the DPSIR framework with the text mining of environmental complaints might generate a comprehensive environmental knowledge base as a prerequisite for a wider exploitation of analysis to support decision-making processes and environmental management activities. 展开更多
