A new method for preparation of N-tosylimines by InCl_3-mediated condensation of aldehydes with p-toluenesulfonamide in refluxing benzene is reported.The procedure is lauded by its simplicity,mild reaction conditions,excellent yields and adaptability to electron deficient and electron rich aromatic,andα,β-unsaturated aldehydes.

An environmentally benign and efficient process for the preparation of 3-（substituted methylthio）-4-phenyl-5- （3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl）-4H-1,2,4-triazole was achieved by the reaction of 4-phenyl-5-（3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl）- 4H- 1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol with different halides in aqueous media mediated by indium trichloride in high yields.

A Green and Efficient Synthesis of Xanthenedione Derivatives Promoted by InCl_3·4H_2O in Ionic Liquid

Xanthenedione derivatives were prepared through lnCl3·4H2O promoted condensation of aldehydes with 5, 5-dimethyl-1, 3-cyclohexandione in [bmiml[BF4]. The advantages of this method are: simple operation, environmental benign and high efficiency. Moreover, the reaction media and the catalyst can be recovered and reused effectively for at least six times.

An Efficient and Green Synthesis of 5-Oxo-5, 6, 7, 8-tetrahydro- 4H-benzo-[b]-pyran Derivatives Promoted by InCl_3·4H_2O Under Microwave Irradiation

A rapid and facile preparation of benzo-[b]-pyran derivatives through condensation of chalcone and 5, 5-dimethyl-1,3-cyclohexandione under microwave irradiation in the presence of catalytic amount of InCl3·4H2O has been developed. With its high efficiency, operational simplicity and environmental benignancy, this method may provide a useful alternative for the preparation of benzo-[b]-pyran derivatives.
