INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING AND VISUALISATION—A PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PERSPECTIVE

Taking the actual project of teaching and researching process for example, the relationship between the industrial engineering and product development is discussed. And use the novel visualization technology to support the industrial engineering and product development. How to use the new computer modeling and simulating technologies to support the product development and industrial engineering, is introduced especially. The support includes both domestic products and industrial systems. The visualization and computer technologies take a very impo[tant role in some system or multi-direction modeling, those technologies mentioned above can help the industrial engineers study the effect of design on the whole life circle, including the producing steps. So the engineers can avoid making the wrong decision which may cause bad effects on the whole industrial engineering.

Department of Industrial Engineering Won Award of IIE

The Department of Industrial Engineering of Tsinghua University won the Innovations in Curriculum Award of Institute of Industrial Engineering （IIE） at the annual meeting of IIE held in Nashville, Tennessee on May 20, 2007. The subject of the award-winning project is Logistics Laboratory. Competing with American universities, the project won the first place and became the only winner of this award. It is the first time for IIE to set up such an award. The Department of Industrial Engineering was established in 2001 with Dr. Gavriel Salvendy as the founding chair professor and department head. The Logistics Laboratory was set up in 2004.

The Cultivating of Engineering Human Resource Baced on AMT

This paper firstly analyzes the features and developing tendency of AMT. Then starting from studying the challenges of AMT that qualified IE specialists have to face, it systematically analyzes the problems that part of a qualified IE specialist′s education can not fit to the development of AMT, discussing some root causes of these problems. Finally, it puts forward the idea for training of qualified IE specialists that should adapt to the development of AMT.

Role-based approaches for operational tasks modeling and flexible decomposition

In order to realize the fact that operational tasks can be decomposed flexibly with new tasks random adding, role-based approaches for operational tasks model and the flexibility decomposition are proposed. Firstly, aiming at the shortcomings of previous task decomposition methods, operational role concepts are introduced to design a computing framework of task flexibility decomposition. Within the framework, task structure matrixes are constructed for tasks decomposition with the mapping relations of information interaction and action process among tasks. On basis of this, via giving operational decomposition granularity, a flexibility approach of operational task decomposition is put forward with three parts about task decomposition granularity adjustment, tasks module partition with different operational role patterns and task decomposition scheme evaluation. Finally, as an application case shown, it is validated that the proposed approaches for tasks modeling and decomposition are available. By comparing with previous decomposition approaches, the proposed approach, within three types of operational roles, has strong environmental adaptability and scheme diversity, which can restrain calculation complexity increment for realizing task flexible decomposition effectively. ? 2016 Beijing Institute of Aerospace Information.

Generalized Lanchester warfare model characterized by information asymmetry effect

Combined with the fact that information asymmetry between two belligerent parties is very common in information-based warfare, the bidirectional influence of asymmetric information on both sides is analyzed. A new damage coefficient is formed based on the analysis, and a generalized Lanchester warfare model characterized by information asymmetry effect is built. According to the staggered transformation of information asymmetric degree resulting from the changing tactic of both sides by turns, a method for approximate solution of the model is presented by translating the information asymmetric degree as a ladder function, and both examples of the solving model and further discussion about the solution are given. The results indicate that the model can serve as a reference to analyze and forecast the course of war quantitatively. ? 2017 Beijing Institute of Aerospace Information.

Contribution to the Improvement of the Petroleum Products Delivery Policy by the Implementation of a Computer System Based on the Dijkstra Method

The distribution and marketing of petroleum products are the sources of energy for the various activities of human society and household supply. We spent our time researching the competitive factors to reduce the time of distribution of petroleum products, by setting up a computer system based on Dijkstra’s algorithm our contribution will solve a real problem of delivery with direct targeting of gas stations. We set up a tool to help to map based on the method of operational research starting with the identification of delivery point, mapping and then applying the algorithm. Mainly the graph theory and the optimal path in a network by a short path using the method of Dijkstra for the design we used the UML language, the programming we used the JAVA language with very appreciable results to finish with a conclusion.

Application of Technical and Economic Anatomy(TEA) in Industrial Enginering(IE)

In this paper , a new method, Technical and Economic Anatomy (TEA), is introduced and further, to discuss its application in Industrial Engineering (IE). TEA is a method of after evaluation which is being used in more and more fields. Feasibility Study (FS), Value Engineering (VE) and Technical and Economic Anatomy (TEA) will be called before evaluation, middle evaluation and after evaluation in Technical Economics or Engineering Economics.

An evolving trajectory-from PD,logistics,SCM to the theory of material flow

The growing interest in the material flow(MF)theory has invoked much interesting research in recent years.Although the MF theory is relatively new,a review of the related literature from a historical perspective shows that MF theory represents a new stage of the evolutionary development of interrelated subjects such as Physical Distribution(PD),Logistics,and Supply Chain Management(SCM).The purpose of this paper is to provide a summative review of the evolution of the subjects of PD,Logistics,and SCM,and their new development,MF theory.The paper aims at tracing how concepts and findings in PD,Logistics,SCM,and MF have been developed and have evolved.The study shows that PD evolved to Logistics in middle of the 1980s;starting from the late 1990s,Logistics has evolved to SCM;and today PD,Logistics,and SCM can be considered to be under the umbrella provided by a new theory called MF theory.This paper points out that MF theory is a necessity to deal with the overwhelming complexity of material flow systems in the global economy of the twenty-first century.
