BACKGROUND Infant hepatitis syndrome(IHS)is a clinical syndrome in infants less than one year of age with generalized skin jaundice,abnormal liver function,and hepato-megaly due to various etiologies such as infection...BACKGROUND Infant hepatitis syndrome(IHS)is a clinical syndrome in infants less than one year of age with generalized skin jaundice,abnormal liver function,and hepato-megaly due to various etiologies such as infection.AIM To investigate the effect of IHS patients,after treatment with arsphenamine-based peptides,on patients'liver function damage and immune function.METHODS Of 110 patients with IHS treated in our hospital from January 2019 to January 2021 were grouped according to the randomized residual grouping method,with 5 cases in each group shed due to transfer,etc.Ultimately,50 cases remained in each group.The control group was treated with reduced glutathione,and the treat-ment group was treated with sesquiterpene peptide based on the control group.Observe and compare the differences in indicators after treatment.RESULTS The comparison of serum total bilirubin,direct bilirubin,and serum alanine transferase after treatment was significantly different and lower in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05).The comparison of CD4+,CD3+,CD4+/CD8+after treatment was significantly different and higher in the treatment group than in the control group,and the comparison was statist-ically significant(P<0.05).The complication of the two groups showed that the rash,cough and sputum,elevated platelets,and gastrointestinal reactions in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant by test(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The comparative study of IHS treated with arsphenamine combined with reduced glutathione is more effective.展开更多

The literatu...AIM: To assess the functional gastrointestinal disorders(FGID) prevalence in infants and toddlers. METHODS: Pub Med, EMBASE, and Scopus were searched for original articles from inception to February 2016. The literature search was made in accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA). For inclusion, each study had to report epidemiological data of FGID on children up to 4 years old and contain standardized outcome Rome Ⅱ or Ⅲ criteria. The overall quality of included epidemiological studies was evaluated in accordance to Loney's proposal for prevalence studies of health literature. Two reviewers assessed each study for inclusion and extracted data. Discrepancies were reconciled through discussion.RESULTS: It was identified a total of 101 articles through the databases and two through the manual search. A total of 28 articles fulfilled the eligibility criteria. After reading the full articles, 13 of them were included in the present review. Twelve studies were written in English and one in Chinese, and published between 2004 and 2015. Eight articles(61.5%) were performed in Europe, three(23.1%) in America and two(15.4%) in Asia. Sample size varied between 45 and 9660 subjects. Cross-sectional frequency was reported in majority of studies(k = 9) and four studies prospectively followed the subjects. 27.1% to 38% of participants have met any of Rome's criteria for gastrointestinal syndromes, of those 20.8% presented two or more FGID. Infant regurgitation and functional constipation were the most common FGID, ranging from less than 1% to 25.9% and less than 1% to 31%, respectively. Most included studies were of moderate to poor data quality with respect to absence of confidential interval for prevalence rate and inadequate sampling methods.CONCLUSION: The scarcity and heterogeneity of FGID data call for the necessity of well-designed epidemiological research in different levels of pediatric practice and refinement of diagnostic.展开更多

MethodsTwenty infants with VSD were enrolled in the study fromJan. to Dec.2004. They were divided into two groups: pulmonary hypertension group and non-pulmonary hypertension group, ten infantsrespectively. Pulmonary function parameters were measured before CPB and 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24h after CPB, the following datawere recorded: duration for mechanical ventilation (Tmv) and staying in the cardiac intensive care unit (Tcicu) after cardiac surgery.Results Before CPB, the pulmonary function parameters in non-pulmonary hypertension group were more superior than in pulmonary hy-pertension group (P<0.01). By contraries, the pulmonary function parameters in every time stage after CPB statistically significant de-creased in non-pulmonary hypertension group (P<0.05), especially at 6, 9, and 15h after CPB (P<0.01). This study was to explore the immunity-promoting activity of porcine placenta as a potential raw material for functional foods.Porcine placenta was subjected to the analysis for its bioactive substances,and their immu...This study was to explore the immunity-promoting activity of porcine placenta as a potential raw material for functional foods.Porcine placenta was subjected to the analysis for its bioactive substances,and their immunity-promoting activity was determined in mice supplemented with porcine placenta extract(PPE)and freeze-dried porcine placenta powder at high(PPH)and low(PPL)dosage.Results showed that porcine placenta contained placental peptides and 15 free amino acids,and the amounts of estrogen and progesterone in products developed from porcine placenta were within the limit of national standard.Mice model experiment revealed that compared with the control,the PPH treatment significantly improved the spleen index(P<0.05)by increasing the phagocytic rate of macrophages from 20%to 60%and the conversion rate of T lymphocytes from 8%to 60%.The q PCR analysis disclosed that the porcine placenta powder enhanced mice immunity via promoting the expression of Th1 cytokines of interleukin-2(IL-2)and IFN-γ,especially the former,by almost 8 times in the spleens of male mice,while inhibited Th2 cytokines of IL-4 and IL-10.This investigation has provided a reference for the development of porcine placenta as a raw material applied in functional foods to improve human immunity.展开更多

Methods: A total of 100 children with MPP hospitalized from September 2014 to May 2015 were selected as the observation group and divided into two groups of MPP acute period and recovery period on the basis of the infection degree, and 50 healthy children were selected as control group at the same time, detect the immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA, IgM) and complement (C3, C4), peripheral T lymphocyte subsets (CD3+, CD4+, CD8+) and inflammatory factors (IL-2, IL-6, TNF-α, IL-8, IL-10, IL-13) of three groups of infants.Results:immunoglobulin IgG levels of recovery period were significantly higher than that in acute stage and the control group, IgA levels of acute phase and recovery phase were significantly lower than the control group, IgM and complement C3 levels in acute stage were significantly higher than the control group, during the recovery period tended to be normal, complement C4 in acute stage levels were significantly higher than those in recovery period and both higher than the control group. The CD3+, CD4+ and CD4/CD8 ratio of MPP in acute stage and recovery phase were significantly lower than the control group, and these numerical indexes of the recovery period were significantly higher than the acute stage, CD8+ levels in acute stage were significantly higher than that in recovery period and both higher than control group. Compared with the control group ,The levels of inflammatory cytokines IL-2 in the acute phase and recovery phase were significantly decreased, and the recovery period was significantly higher than that in acute stage, the test results that the levels of IL-6, TNF-α, IL-8, IL-10 and IL-13 in acute phase and recovery phase were significantly higher than those in control group and the recovery period was significantly lower than that in the acute stage.Conclusion:The body humoral immune function and cellular immune function damage caused by MP infection in infants and young children could lead to the disorder of immune system and the abnormal expression of inflammatory cytokines. Previous studies on brain functional connectivity networks in children have mainly focused on changes in function in specific brain regions, as opposed to whole brain connectivity in healthy children. By analyzing the...Previous studies on brain functional connectivity networks in children have mainly focused on changes in function in specific brain regions, as opposed to whole brain connectivity in healthy children. By analyzing the independent components of activation and network connectivity between brain regions, we examined brain activity status and development trends in children aged 3 and 5 years. These data could provide a reference for brain function rehabilitation in children with illness or abnormal function. We acquired functional magnetic resonance images from 15 3-year-old children and 15 5-year-old children under natural sleep cond让ions. The participants were recruited from five kindergartens in the Nanshan District of Shenzhen City, China. The parents of the participants signed an informed consent form with the premise that they had been fully informed regarding the experimental protocol. We used masked independent component analysis and BrainNet Viewer software to explore the independent components of the brain and correlation connections between brain regions. We identified seven independent components in the two groups of children, including the executive control network, the dorsal attention network, the default mode network, the left frontoparietal network, the right frontoparietal network, the salience network, and the motor network. In the default mode network, the posterior cingulate cortex, medial frontal gyrus, and inferior parietal lobule were activated in both 3- and 5-year-old children, supporting the "three-brain region theory” of the default mode network. In the frontoparietal network, the frontal and parietal gyri were activated in the two groups of children, and functional connectivity was strengthened in 5-year-olds compared with 3-year-olds, although the nodes and network connections were not yet mature. The high-correlation network connections in the default mode networks and dorsal attention networks had been significantly strengthened in 5-year-olds vs. 3-year-olds. Further, the salience network in the 3-year-old children included an activated insula/inferior frontal gyrus-anterior cingulate cortex network circu让 and an activated thalamus-parahippocampal-posterior cingulate cortex-subcortical regions network circuit. By the age of 5 years, no des and high-correlation network connections (edges) were reduced in the salience network. Overall, activation of the dorsal attention network, default mode network, left frontoparietal network, and right frontoparietal network increased (the volume of activation increased, the signals strengthened, and the high-correlation connections increased and strengthened) in 5-year-olds compared with 3-year-olds, but activation in some brain nodes weakened or disappeared in the salience network, and the network connections (edges) were reduced. Between the ages of 3 and 5 years, we observed a tendency for function in some brain regions to be strengthened and for the generalization of activation to be reduced, indicating that specialization begins to develop at this time. BACKGROUND Tidal breathing flow-volume(TBFV)analysis provides important information about lung mechanics in infants.AIM To assess the effects of breastfeeding on the TBFV measurements of infants who recover from acute...BACKGROUND Tidal breathing flow-volume(TBFV)analysis provides important information about lung mechanics in infants.AIM To assess the effects of breastfeeding on the TBFV measurements of infants who recover from acute bronchiolitis.METHODS In this cross-sectional study,TBFV analysis was performed in infants with bronchiolitis prior to hospital discharge.The ratio of time to peak expiratory flow to total expiratory time(tPEF/tE)at baseline and after the administration of 400 mcg salbutamol was evaluated.RESULTS A total of 56 infants(35 boys),aged 7.4±2.8 mo,were included.Of them,12.5%were exposed to tobacco smoke and 41.1%were breastfed less than 2 mo.There were no differences in baseline TBFV measurements between the breastfeeding groups;however,those who breastfed longer than 2 mo had a greater change in tPEF/tE after bronchodilation(12%±10.4%vs 0.9%±7.1%;P<0.001).Moreover,there was a clear dose-response relationship between tPEF/tE reversibility and duration of breastfeeding(P<0.001).In multivariate regression analysis,infants who breastfed less(regression coefficient-0.335,P=0.010)or were exposed to cigarette smoke(regression coefficient 0.353,P=0.007)showed a greater change in tPEF/tE after bronchodilation,independent of sex,prematurity,and family history of asthma or atopy.CONCLUSION Infants who recover from bronchiolitis and have a shorter duration of breastfeeding or are exposed to cigarette smoke,have TBFV measurements indicative of obstructive lung disease.展开更多

In the present study, human placenta-derived mesenchymal stem ceils were induced to differentiate into neural stem cells, which were then transplanted into the spinal cord after local spinal cord injury in rats. The motor functional recovery and pathological changes in the injured spinal cord were observed for 3 successive weeks. The results showed that human placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells can differentiate into neuron-like cells and that induced neural stem cells contribute to the restoration of injured spinal cord without causing transplant rejection. Thus, these cells promote the recovery of motor and sensory functions in a rat model of spinal cord injury. Therefore, human placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells may be useful as seed cells during the repair of spinal cord injury.展开更多
Infant formula(IF)based on cow milk and goat milk is a substitute food for infants who are underfed with human milk.In our previous study,we reported the composition and physicochemical stability of IF based on milk f...Infant formula(IF)based on cow milk and goat milk is a substitute food for infants who are underfed with human milk.In our previous study,we reported the composition and physicochemical stability of IF based on milk from cows and goats and a combination of both milks.Here,we investigated the effects of these 3 IFs on intestinal immunity and short-chain fatty acid production(SCFAs)using human microbiota-associated(HMA)mice and selected human milk as a positive control.The results showed that goat milk-based IF is associated with a functional immune advantage,due to the rise in the levels of immune-related cytokines interleukin(IL)-2 and IL-10,decreased levels of intestinal permeability markers D-lactic acid and endotoxin,and increased mRNA levels of intestinal tight junction proteins occludin and claudin.In addition,the intestine of mice fed with goat milk-based IF contained 12.06μmol/g acetate,2.42μmol/g propionate,and 1.72μmol/g butyrate,which reached 69%,79%,and 60%of the levels in human milk,respectively.Our results indicate that goat milk-based IF improves intestinal immune function and promotes the production of intestinal SCFAs.展开更多

Our hypothesis is that plasma citrulline is both a gastrointestinal (GI) function and a gut mass marker. Our objective was to validate previous observations, by prospectively analyzing plasma citrulline concentrations in patients with GI disease with or without bowel resection, compared to patients without GI disease. Plasma from blood samples of parenteral nutrition fed neonates and infants was obtained. Samples were analyzed by ion-exchange chromatography. Data collected included age, diagnoses and surgical documentation of bowel resection. Patients were classified into 3 main groups: those without GI disease nor resection (Group 1), those with GI disease but no resection (Group 2), and those with GI disease and resection (Group 3). Group medians were compared using Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA. Seventeen samples were evaluated. Patients in Group 3 were older compared to patients in Groups 1 and 2;median age (in days) 156 vs. 12 vs. 57 respectively. Median (range) plasma citrulline concentrations were 20.9 (14.9 - 29.0) μmol/L, 8.7 (0.5 - 20.0) μmol/L and 9.6 (5.9 - 13.2) μmol/L for Groups 1, 2 and 3 respectively. There were significant differences among medians and sample distributions between Groups 1 and 2 and between 1 and 3 (p < 0.05). No differences were observed between Groups 2 and 3. Patients without GI disease and no resection had significantly higher plasma citrulline concentrations than patients with GI disease with or without resection at the time of assessment.展开更多

Pulmonary function parameters were measured before CPB and 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24h after CPB, the following datawere recorded: duration for mechanical ventilation (Tmv) and staying in the cardiac intensive care unit (Tcicu) after cardiac surgery.Results Before CPB, the pulmonary function parameters in non-pulmonary hypertension group were more superior than in pulmonary hy-pertension group (P<0.01). By contraries, the pulmonary function parameters in every time stage after CPB statistically significant de-creased in non-pulmonary hypertension group (P<0.05), especially at 6, 9, and 15h after CPB (P<0.01). In pulmonary hyperten-sion group, the pulmonary function parameters in 3h after CPB were more improved than before CPB, though there was no statistical sig-nificance. But they had statistically significant decreased at9, 12, 15h after CPB (P<0.05). There was a similar change in pulmonaryfunction between two groups at 21, 24h after CPB. Conclusion Exposure to CPB adversely affects pulmonary function after surgicalrepair of VSD in infants. We consider that the benefits of the surgical correction in infants with pulmonary hypertension outweight the neg-ative effects of CPB on pulmonary function. We should improve cardiac function to avoid the presence of the nadir trough in pulmonaryfunction. The infants with pulomonary hypertension also have ability to wean from mechanical ventilation as soon as possible, if the hemo-dynamics is stable, and without the responsive pulmonary hypertension or pulmonary hypertension crisis after surgical repair.

文摘BACKGROUND Our study contributes to the further understanding of the mechanism of foot reflexology.Foot reflexology has been reported to affect hearing recovery,but no physiological evidence has been provided.This lack of evidence hampers the acceptance of the technique in clinical practice.CASE SUMMARY A girl was taken to North Sichuan Medical University Affiliated Hospital for a hearing screen by her parents.Her parents reported that her hearing level was the same as when she was born.The girl was diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss(SNHL)by a doctor in the otolaryngology department.After we introduced the foot reflexology project,the parents agreed to participate in the experiment.After 6 months of foot reflexology treatment,the hearing threshold of the girl recovered to a normal level,below 30 dB.CONCLUSION Foot reflexology should be encouraged in clinical practice and for families of infants with SNHL.

文摘This study was to explore the immunity-promoting activity of porcine placenta as a potential raw material for functional foods.Porcine placenta was subjected to the analysis for its bioactive substances,and their immunity-promoting activity was determined in mice supplemented with porcine placenta extract(PPE)and freeze-dried porcine placenta powder at high(PPH)and low(PPL)dosage.Results showed that porcine placenta contained placental peptides and 15 free amino acids,and the amounts of estrogen and progesterone in products developed from porcine placenta were within the limit of national standard.Mice model experiment revealed that compared with the control,the PPH treatment significantly improved the spleen index(P<0.05)by increasing the phagocytic rate of macrophages from 20%to 60%and the conversion rate of T lymphocytes from 8%to 60%.The q PCR analysis disclosed that the porcine placenta powder enhanced mice immunity via promoting the expression of Th1 cytokines of interleukin-2(IL-2)and IFN-γ,especially the former,by almost 8 times in the spleens of male mice,while inhibited Th2 cytokines of IL-4 and IL-10.This investigation has provided a reference for the development of porcine placenta as a raw material applied in functional foods to improve human immunity.
文摘Objective:To investigate the levels of immune function and inflammatory factors in children with mycoplasma pneumonia (MP) infection in different stages and its clinical significance. Methods: A total of 100 children with MPP hospitalized from September 2014 to May 2015 were selected as the observation group and divided into two groups of MPP acute period and recovery period on the basis of the infection degree, and 50 healthy children were selected as control group at the same time, detect the immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA, IgM) and complement (C3, C4), peripheral T lymphocyte subsets (CD3+, CD4+, CD8+) and inflammatory factors (IL-2, IL-6, TNF-α, IL-8, IL-10, IL-13) of three groups of infants.Results:immunoglobulin IgG levels of recovery period were significantly higher than that in acute stage and the control group, IgA levels of acute phase and recovery phase were significantly lower than the control group, IgM and complement C3 levels in acute stage were significantly higher than the control group, during the recovery period tended to be normal, complement C4 in acute stage levels were significantly higher than those in recovery period and both higher than the control group. The CD3+, CD4+ and CD4/CD8 ratio of MPP in acute stage and recovery phase were significantly lower than the control group, and these numerical indexes of the recovery period were significantly higher than the acute stage, CD8+ levels in acute stage were significantly higher than that in recovery period and both higher than control group. Compared with the control group ,The levels of inflammatory cytokines IL-2 in the acute phase and recovery phase were significantly decreased, and the recovery period was significantly higher than that in acute stage, the test results that the levels of IL-6, TNF-α, IL-8, IL-10 and IL-13 in acute phase and recovery phase were significantly higher than those in control group and the recovery period was significantly lower than that in the acute stage.Conclusion:The body humoral immune function and cellular immune function damage caused by MP infection in infants and young children could lead to the disorder of immune system and the abnormal expression of inflammatory cytokines. Therefore, Therefore, the real-time monitoring the dynamic level of the indicators can define the infants and young children's condition, improve the recovery rate, and have a certain guiding significance of the clinical diagnosis of infants and young children .

文摘Previous studies on brain functional connectivity networks in children have mainly focused on changes in function in specific brain regions, as opposed to whole brain connectivity in healthy children. By analyzing the independent components of activation and network connectivity between brain regions, we examined brain activity status and development trends in children aged 3 and 5 years. These data could provide a reference for brain function rehabilitation in children with illness or abnormal function. We acquired functional magnetic resonance images from 15 3-year-old children and 15 5-year-old children under natural sleep cond让ions. The participants were recruited from five kindergartens in the Nanshan District of Shenzhen City, China. The parents of the participants signed an informed consent form with the premise that they had been fully informed regarding the experimental protocol. We used masked independent component analysis and BrainNet Viewer software to explore the independent components of the brain and correlation connections between brain regions. We identified seven independent components in the two groups of children, including the executive control network, the dorsal attention network, the default mode network, the left frontoparietal network, the right frontoparietal network, the salience network, and the motor network. In the default mode network, the posterior cingulate cortex, medial frontal gyrus, and inferior parietal lobule were activated in both 3- and 5-year-old children, supporting the "three-brain region theory” of the default mode network. In the frontoparietal network, the frontal and parietal gyri were activated in the two groups of children, and functional connectivity was strengthened in 5-year-olds compared with 3-year-olds, although the nodes and network connections were not yet mature. The high-correlation network connections in the default mode networks and dorsal attention networks had been significantly strengthened in 5-year-olds vs. 3-year-olds. Further, the salience network in the 3-year-old children included an activated insula/inferior frontal gyrus-anterior cingulate cortex network circu让 and an activated thalamus-parahippocampal-posterior cingulate cortex-subcortical regions network circuit. By the age of 5 years, no des and high-correlation network connections (edges) were reduced in the salience network. Overall, activation of the dorsal attention network, default mode network, left frontoparietal network, and right frontoparietal network increased (the volume of activation increased, the signals strengthened, and the high-correlation connections increased and strengthened) in 5-year-olds compared with 3-year-olds, but activation in some brain nodes weakened or disappeared in the salience network, and the network connections (edges) were reduced. Between the ages of 3 and 5 years, we observed a tendency for function in some brain regions to be strengthened and for the generalization of activation to be reduced, indicating that specialization begins to develop at this time. 文摘BACKGROUND Tidal breathing flow-volume(TBFV)analysis provides important information about lung mechanics in infants.AIM To assess the effects of breastfeeding on the TBFV measurements of infants who recover from acute bronchiolitis.METHODS In this cross-sectional study,TBFV analysis was performed in infants with bronchiolitis prior to hospital discharge.The ratio of time to peak expiratory flow to total expiratory time(tPEF/tE)at baseline and after the administration of 400 mcg salbutamol was evaluated.RESULTS A total of 56 infants(35 boys),aged 7.4±2.8 mo,were included.Of them,12.5%were exposed to tobacco smoke and 41.1%were breastfed less than 2 mo.There were no differences in baseline TBFV measurements between the breastfeeding groups;however,those who breastfed longer than 2 mo had a greater change in tPEF/tE after bronchodilation(12%±10.4%vs 0.9%±7.1%;P<0.001).Moreover,there was a clear dose-response relationship between tPEF/tE reversibility and duration of breastfeeding(P<0.001).In multivariate regression analysis,infants who breastfed less(regression coefficient-0.335,P=0.010)or were exposed to cigarette smoke(regression coefficient 0.353,P=0.007)showed a greater change in tPEF/tE after bronchodilation,independent of sex,prematurity,and family history of asthma or atopy.CONCLUSION Infants who recover from bronchiolitis and have a shorter duration of breastfeeding or are exposed to cigarette smoke,have TBFV measurements indicative of obstructive lung disease.
文摘Preeclampsia(PE)is a pregnancy-specific syndrome,complicating 2%-8% of pregnancies.PE is a major cause of maternal mortality throughout the world with 60000 maternal deaths attributed to hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.PE also results in fetal morbidity due to prematurity and fetal growth restriction.The precise aetiology of PE remains an enigma with multiple theories including a combination of environmental,immunological and genetic factors.The conventional and leading hypotheses for the initial insult in PE is inadequate trophoblast invasion which is thought to result in incomplete remodelling of uterine spiral arteries leading to placental ischaemia,hypoxia and thus oxidative stress.The significant heterogeneity observed in pre-eclampsia cannot be solely explained by the placental model alone.Herein we critically evaluate the clinical(risk factors,placental blood flow and biomarkers)and pathological(genetic,molecular,histological)correlates for PE.Furthermore,we discuss the role played by the(dysfunctional)maternal cardiovascular system in the aetiology of PE.We review the evidence that demonstrates a role for both the placenta and the cardiovascular system in early-and late-onset PE and highlight some of the key differences between these two distinct disease entities.

文摘Because of their strong proliferative capacity and multi-potency, placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells have gained interest as a cell source in the field of nerve damage repair. In the present study, human placenta-derived mesenchymal stem ceils were induced to differentiate into neural stem cells, which were then transplanted into the spinal cord after local spinal cord injury in rats. The motor functional recovery and pathological changes in the injured spinal cord were observed for 3 successive weeks. The results showed that human placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells can differentiate into neuron-like cells and that induced neural stem cells contribute to the restoration of injured spinal cord without causing transplant rejection. Thus, these cells promote the recovery of motor and sensory functions in a rat model of spinal cord injury. Therefore, human placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells may be useful as seed cells during the repair of spinal cord injury.

文摘Infant formula(IF)based on cow milk and goat milk is a substitute food for infants who are underfed with human milk.In our previous study,we reported the composition and physicochemical stability of IF based on milk from cows and goats and a combination of both milks.Here,we investigated the effects of these 3 IFs on intestinal immunity and short-chain fatty acid production(SCFAs)using human microbiota-associated(HMA)mice and selected human milk as a positive control.The results showed that goat milk-based IF is associated with a functional immune advantage,due to the rise in the levels of immune-related cytokines interleukin(IL)-2 and IL-10,decreased levels of intestinal permeability markers D-lactic acid and endotoxin,and increased mRNA levels of intestinal tight junction proteins occludin and claudin.In addition,the intestine of mice fed with goat milk-based IF contained 12.06μmol/g acetate,2.42μmol/g propionate,and 1.72μmol/g butyrate,which reached 69%,79%,and 60%of the levels in human milk,respectively.Our results indicate that goat milk-based IF improves intestinal immune function and promotes the production of intestinal SCFAs.
文摘Various studies have shown a role for citrulline as a gut mass biomarker in patients with short bowel syndrome. Our hypothesis is that plasma citrulline is both a gastrointestinal (GI) function and a gut mass marker. Our objective was to validate previous observations, by prospectively analyzing plasma citrulline concentrations in patients with GI disease with or without bowel resection, compared to patients without GI disease. Plasma from blood samples of parenteral nutrition fed neonates and infants was obtained. Samples were analyzed by ion-exchange chromatography. Data collected included age, diagnoses and surgical documentation of bowel resection. Patients were classified into 3 main groups: those without GI disease nor resection (Group 1), those with GI disease but no resection (Group 2), and those with GI disease and resection (Group 3). Group medians were compared using Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA. Seventeen samples were evaluated. Patients in Group 3 were older compared to patients in Groups 1 and 2;median age (in days) 156 vs. 12 vs. 57 respectively. Median (range) plasma citrulline concentrations were 20.9 (14.9 - 29.0) μmol/L, 8.7 (0.5 - 20.0) μmol/L and 9.6 (5.9 - 13.2) μmol/L for Groups 1, 2 and 3 respectively. There were significant differences among medians and sample distributions between Groups 1 and 2 and between 1 and 3 (p < 0.05). No differences were observed between Groups 2 and 3. Patients without GI disease and no resection had significantly higher plasma citrulline concentrations than patients with GI disease with or without resection at the time of assessment.
