Comparison of evaluation indexes for Gastroenterology and Hepatology journals in different databases

BACKGROUND Accurate assessment of the quality of academic journals is of great significance.While Journal Impact Factor(JIF),calculated by Clarivate and based upon the Web of Science literature database,and CiteScore(CS),developed by Elseiver and based upon the Scopus database,have enjoyed high uptake worldwide,efforts continue towards creation of other scientometric indexes that will provide evergreater qualitative insights into journal impact.Such efforts have yielded the newly-launched Journal Article Influence Index(JAII),which is based on the Reference Citation Analysis(RCA)database,an open multidisciplinary citation analysis database based on artificial intelligence technology.AIM To evaluate and summarize the similarities and differences between JAII and JIF/CS as journal evaluation indicators,and provide an intuitive method for visual representation of the related data.METHODS We searched the Journal Citation Reports to obtain the 2021 JIF list,downloaded the CS list updated in July on the Scopus website,and collected the comprehensive list of 2022 JAIIs from the RCA database(www.referencecitationanalysis.com).RESULTS Our research results revealed that by breaking through the time limit of mainstream journalevaluation methods, the JAII is able to perform well in data reliability, establishing its benefit as acomplementary scientometric index to JIF and CS.CONCLUSIONJAII provides comprehensive assessment of the quality and performance of journals.

Field Modeling Method for Identifying Urban Sphere of Influence:A Case Study on Central China

With rapid development of urbanization and regional interaction and interdependence, regional urban agglomeration planning becomes more and more important in China, in order to promote integrated development of various cities with close interrelationship. However, it is still arguable academically on how to define the boundary or which cities to be included for the urban agglomeration of a region. This paper aims to shed lights on how to identify urban spheres of influence scientifically by introducing field modeling method and by practicing a case study on 168 cities in Central China. In our field modeling method, the influence intensities of cities were measured by a compre-ensive index and urban spheres of influence were represented spatially by field intensity. Then, their classification and spatial distribution characteristics of study area in 2007 were identified and explored by using GIS and statistical methods. The result showed that： 1） Wuhan is the absolute dominant city in Central China; 2） the provincial capital cities dominate their own provinces and there are no other lower grade agglomeration centers; and 3） the basic types of organization form of urban sphere of influence are single-polar type, agglomeration type, close-related group type and loose-related group type.

Thisarticle highlights the top 20 journals, describes the calculation method for the 2022JAII, the evaluation process, and the inclusion principles for journals in the RCA.These steps are the underpinning of the RCA’s empirical journal academicevaluation service by which the digital platform addresses the needs of authors toselect reliable journals for submission, readers to select high-quality literature forreading, and editors to track their own journal citation performance. Baishideng’s Reference Citation Analysis database announces the first Article Influence Index of multidisciplinary scholars

After three rounds of rigorous evaluation of registered scholars conducted by the Reference Citation Analysis(RCA)editorial team of Baishideng Publishing Group(Baishideng),the RCA database of Baishideng officially released the 2022 Article Influence Index(2022 AII)of 632 scholars from 74 countries/territories in 98 research categories,for the first time.The list of 632 scholars can be found at:https://www.referencecitationanalysis.com/searchscholar.Among them,the highest 2022 AII is 348.211,the highest number of total citations is 42830,and the highest number of total articles is 901.The category with the largest number of RCA scholars is Gastroenterology&Hepatology,with a total of 100(15.8%),and the second is Surgery,with a total of 46(7.3%).This article summarizes the RCA scholars and describes the mission of RCA,the openness and transparency of RCA evaluation,the calculation method for the 2022 AII,and the evaluation process of RCA scholars.The RCA scholar list will effectively serve as a useful Find-a-Scholar tool.Any interested scholar is welcome to register and join this RCA scholar list.
