Theme and information focus,two important concepts of Functional Grammar,are helpful for us to interpret the information placement of a text.The relationship between the two by analyzing the thematic structure and information structure of Anton Chekhov’s "A Nincompoop" is attempted to show.The thematic progressing of the text to present its inner connexity is also explored.The purpose of doing this is to dig up the hidden meaning the author wants to express.
