Manufacturing of a product is constituted of the va ri ous attributes such as quality, cost, performance, and time to market. Manufactu ring can also be understood as the entire product realization process, from spec ification through design and production to marketing and distribution. The induc tion of Information Technology (IT) in manufacturing includes the hardware that computes and communicates, the software that provides data, knowledge, and infor mation while at the same time controlling the hardware, and the interfaces betwe en computers and the tools and machines on the shop floor. The manufacturing pro cess utilizes IT in the design of products and processes, production, and manufa cturing-related business practices. IT applications applied to manufacturing helps in rapid shifts in production fro m one product to another, faster implementation of new concepts in products, fas ter delivery of products to customers, full utilization of capital and human res ources, streamlining of operations to focus on essential business needs, and eli mination of unnecessary or wasteful activities. IT can be used to meet a range of needs of manufacturing decision makers. It can be said that IT is an enabler and facilitator of radical change to culture of manufacturing which is highly co nservative for many good reasons. With increasing global competition, applications of global information technolog y is giving manufacturing unit an opportunity to increase control and enhance co ordination, while opening doors to new global markets and businesses. In some st udies conducted it ahs been shown that how information technology can produce pr oductivity gains and job losses in specific areas, whereas dynamic stability was also achieved through IT in some cases. In a study of an industry the IT has cu t manufacturers cost from eProcurement to web based supply chain management and after sales service. IT has certainly revolutionized the manufacturing and the i ndustries have completely redefined their business by switching over to World Wi de Web. In order to realize the optimal design of the industrial robot arm structure,an optimization method of the industrial robot arm structure based on green manufacturing technology is proposed.The stability of arm structure parameter acquisition can be controlled.The quantitative adjustment model of structural optimization parameters is constructed.The differential fusion control of the arm structure is realized.This paper analyzes the structure parameter law of the robot arm.We use dynamic parameter prediction and output torque parameter compensation method to control the arm structure.According to the adaptive iterative processing results,the arm structure parameter identification is realized.According to the identification results,the cutting parameter optimization method is adopted for the analytical control of the arm structure,and finally the optimized design of the industrial robot arm structure is realized through the green manufacturing technology.The simulation test results show that for the accuracy of the industrial robot arm structure design,this method is better,the output stability is higher,and the arm motion trajectory has a low deviation from the actual motion trajectory,which improves the optimization control and design capabilities of the industrial robot arm structure. 展开更多

Since the global financial crisis,global value chain(GVC)have been contracting amid the trend toward economic de-globalization.With GVC participation rate in mind as the core indicator of economic de-globalization,in this paper we create a multi-country general equilibrium model to characterize the mechanism by which manufacturing localization affects GVC participation rate.Our theoretical derivation shows that changes in the local manufacturing status of final products in various countries directly influence the GVC participation rate of those countries.When the local proportion of a country’s final products reaches a certain level,rising local proportion of intermediate inputs,economic growth below the world average level,and technology progress all cause the country’s GVC participation rate to decline,giving rise to de-globalization at the manufacturing and trade levels.We further provide a comprehensive interpretation based on an empirical test of the deep-seated causes of economic de-globalization in relation to such economic phenomena as increasing trade concentration,the“technology backlash”effect of the new industrial revolution,and economic growth driven by the combined forces of trade protectionism and quantitative easing. 展开更多

Industry 4.0 concepts have brought about a wind of renewal in the organization of companies and their production methods. However, this integration is subject to obstacles when it comes to Small and Medium sized Enterprises—SMEs: the costs of new technologies to be acquired, the level of maturity of the company regarding its level of digitization and automation, human aspects such as training employees to master new technologies, reluctance to change, etc. This article provides a new framework and presents an intelligent support system to facilitate the digital transformation of SMEs. The digitalization is realized through physical, informational, and decisional points of view. To achieve the complete transformation of the company, the framework combines the triptych of performance criteria (cost, quality, time) with the notions of sustainability (with respect to social, societal, and environmental aspects) and digitization through tools to be integrated into the company’s processes. The new framework encompasses the formalisms developed in the literature on Industry 4.0 concepts, information systems and organizational methods as well as a global structure to support and assist operators in managing their operations. In the form of a web application, it will exploit reliable data obtained through information systems such as Enterprise Resources Planning—ERP, Manufacturing Execution System—MES, or Warehouse Management System—WMS and new technologies such as artificial intelligence (deep learning, multi-agent systems, expert systems), big data, Internet of things (IoT) that communicate with each other to assist operators during production processes. To illustrate and validate the concepts and developed tools, use cases of an electronic manufacturing SME have been solved with these concepts and tools, in order to succeed in this company’s digital transformation. Thus, a reference model of the electronics manufacturing companies is being developed for facilitating the future digital transformation of these domain companies. The advancement of the fourth industrial revolution has shaped the integration and interaction of different information, communication and technologies (ICTs) in the merging cyber, physical, and social infrastructures. The impact of ICT has accelerated the progress of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and influenced the evolution of smart, sustainable, stable society development. Making the trustworthy information and communication technologies infrastructure widely available will promote the community innovation needed to stimulate domestic economics, provide decent work, and reduce inequalities. This article attempts to outline a big picture about the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)’s trust provisioning framework, including its motivation, current status, and application for achieving the UN SDGs by 2030. This article first describes the purpose of the UN SDGs and the evolution of the industrial revolution, then demonstrates the challenges of global risks affecting the fourth industrial revolution and the need for trustworthy ICT infrastructures. Subsequently, the article evaluates the ITU trust provisioning framework and assesses its applications in the future knowledge society, trust provisioning ecosystem, and cyber, physical, and social infrastructure toward achieving UN SDGs. Use cases are also presented in this article to show the effectiveness of the ITU trust provisioning framework on achieving UN SDGs. 展开更多

Purpose:The purpose of this paper is to explore how libraries can develop service and product strategies and the service support mechanism to provide industrial technology information service in science parks.Design/methodology/approach:The analysis is based on a case study of a large Chinese research library,National Science Library(NSL),the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS),in serving high-tech companies in Zhongguancun Science Park(Z-Park).Findings:NSL’s practices suggested that in serving business clients,libraries’ product and service strategies should be based on the understanding of users’ needs.Aside from those services that have been recognized by clients such as document retrieval & delivery and novelty search,libraries may expand their service and provide in-depth information analysis and consultation for some key clients.Moreover,a service and product development system should be established,which differentiates the libraries’ products and services from those of their competitors.In providing industrial technology information service,libraries need to construct the service support mechanism,publicize their service and learn to cooperate with clients to meet their demands for knowledge management and innovation.Research limitations:The generalizability of the findings is limited because they are based on an individual case study.Practical implications:Our service practices provide useful information for other libraries to expand their information service to high-tech companies in the new information environment.Originality/value:Z-Park is the first and one of the largest science and technology parks in China.Hence NSL’s practices in serving high-tech companies in Z-Park can be valuable to other libraries that intend to take up the similar service. 展开更多
