Computational Quantification of Map Projection Distortion by Fractal Dimension of Coastlines

Maps, essential tools for portraying the Earth’s surface, inherently introduce distortions to geographical features. While various quantification methods exist for assessing these distortions, they often fall short when evaluating actual geographic features. In our study, we took a novel approach by analyzing map projection distortion from a geometric perspective. We computed the fractal dimensions of different stretches of coastline before and after projection using the divide-and-conquer algorithm and image processing. Our findings revealed that map projections, even when preserving basic shapes, inevitably stretch and compress coastlines in diverse directions. This analysis method provides a more realistic and practical way to measure map-induced distortions, with significant implications for cartography, geographic information systems (GIS), and geomorphology. By bridging the gap between theoretical analysis and real-world features, this method greatly enhances accuracy and practicality when evaluating map projections. 展开更多

[Objective] The aim was to discuss the spatial pattern changes of land use in Tianjin new coastal area based on fractal dimensions.[Method] By dint of remote and geographic information system technology to obtain the data of urban land use in new coastal area from 1993 to 2008,the boundary dimension,radius dimension and information dimension of each land use type were calculated based on fractal dimension.In addition,the revealed land use spatial dimension changes characteristics were analyzed.[Result] The spatial distribution of each land use type in new costal area had distinct fractal characteristics.And,the amount and changes of three types of dimension values effectively revealed the changes of complicatedness,centeredness and evenness of spatial pattern of land use in the study area.The boundary dimension of unused land and salty earth increased incessantly,which suggested its increasing complicatedness.The boundary of the port and wharf and shoal land was getting simpler.The radius dimension of the cultivated land was larger than 2,which suggested that its area spread from center to the surroundings;the one in salty land and waters distributed evenly within different radius space to the center of the city;the one in other land use types reduced gradually from center to the surroundings.The information dimension value in the woodland and orchard land,unused land and shoal land was small,and was in obvious concentrated distribution;the spatial distribution of cultivated and salty land concentrated in the outside area;the construction area in the port and wharf spread gradually on the basis of original state;the spatial distribution of waters and residents and mines were even.[Conclusion] Applying fractal dimensions to the study of spatial pattern changes of urban land use can make up for some disadvantages in classical urban spatial pattern quantitative research,which has favorable practical value. 展开更多

These problems lead to many difficulties in search process and need lots of man-machine interaction. Because of these difficulties, this paper presents a method of automatic generation of assembly dimension chain based on tolerance cell. This method is realized through obtaining assembly tolerance cell and part tolerance cell first. These two types of tolerance cell are extracted and expressed in the form of linked list structure in computer further. Then assembly dimension chain is searched automatically based on obtained tolerance cell, and the correct assembly dimension chain is extracted finally. A system of generating assembly dimension chain automatically has been developed based on DELMIA and successfully deployed in aircraft assembly simulation in the engineerine practice. 展开更多

Tak- ing a fast Langrangian analysis of continua in 3 dimensions (FLAC3D) numerical modeling on com- puting the geo-deformation information caused by the mining subsidence in a coalmine for example, a new GIS-Excel modeling method is proposed to build geologic strata within the simulation range combined with the coal-seam dip angle of the underground mining working-planes. First of all, the coal-seam model of the numerical computing is built by using the geographic information system (GIS) according to the stripe-through principle and the calculating formula on the size of the model blocks in the paper defined, then the FLAC3D numerical computing model of all geologic strata with- in the simulation range is also built based on the calculating formula of thickness of each stratum and the Excel fast computing advantages. The GIS-Excel method is good at the higher modeling accuracy, seldom making mistakes and consuming less time. The reliability and validity of the method is veri- fied well by its practical applications in the coalmine area. 展开更多

And models of SVM are made based on nugget size defects of spot welding. Classification using these trained SVM models is done to signals of spot welding. It is shown from effect of different SVM models that these models with different inputs. In detection of defects, these models with inputs including sound signal have a high percentage of accuracy, the detection accuracy of these models with inputs including voltage signal will reduce. So the SVM models based on fractal dimensions of sound are some optimal nondestructive detection ones. At last a comparison between SVM detection model and ANNS detection model is researched which indicates that SVM is a more effective measure than Artificial neural networks in detection of nugget size defects during spot welding. 展开更多

A Fourier Series Proof That the Axial like the Transverse Optical Doppler Shift Impacts Time and Information Rates

This paper proves that the axial Doppler shift does that as well and gives some impacts of that on common differential relations in physics. When a modulated signal lasting a time = T is subjected to an optical Doppler shift K (either axial or transverse or both), where K is shifted frequency/original frequency, the Doppler shifted signal will last T/K. This because all shifted harmonics of its Fourier series (with a fundamental period of T) will last 1/K times the period of the original harmonic. The reader can graph any Fourier series and then graph its shifted series. The reader will see the shifted period is T/K. The Fourier series of the original repeats when time is greater than T and the shifted one when time is greater than T/K, which means the original series only represents the signal from time = 0 to T and the shifted series represents the shifted signal from time = 0 to T/K. Hence, the shifted one has all of the information in T/K as the original has in T. Therefore everything in the series including information is T/K long in the shifted series. Therefore, both the axial and the transverse Doppler shift change time periods in a vacuum, independent of material involved. That has not been obvious for over 100 years the axial shift changes time from the definition of frequency = 1/time. 展开更多

To give an improved support to mobile business professionals, it is necessary to go further than just allowing a simple remote access to a Business Intelligence platform. In this paper, the need for actual context-aware mobile Geospatial Business Intelligence (GeoBI) systems that can help capture, filter, organize and structure the user mobile context is exposed and justified. Furthermore, since capturing, structuring, and modeling mobile contextual information is still a research issue, a wide inventory of existing research work on context and mobile context is provided. Then, step by step, we methodologically identify relevant contextual information to capture for mobility purposes as well as for BI needs, organize them into context-dimensions, and build a hierarchical mobile GeoBI context model which (1) is geo-spatial-extended, (2) fits with human perception of mobility, (3) takes into account the local context interactions and information-sharing with remote contexts, and (4) matches with the usual hierarchical aggregated structure of BI data. 展开更多

物理动画(PBA)的目的是通过初始帧信息迭代生成多帧物理现象动画。而现有的基于深度学习的材料模拟模型基本采用编解码器来提高模型的拟合能力,没有充分利用材料本身的物理信息,导致模拟的效率和精度较差。针对该问题,提出了融合物理信... 物理动画(PBA)的目的是通过初始帧信息迭代生成多帧物理现象动画。而现有的基于深度学习的材料模拟模型基本采用编解码器来提高模型的拟合能力,没有充分利用材料本身的物理信息,导致模拟的效率和精度较差。针对该问题,提出了融合物理信息的多材料模拟学习模型(PILMMS)。该模型将整个流程按物理概念分为内部力、外部力和边界处理等多个功能模块。根据对应的物理相关概念和机制对功能模块进行设计,让每个模块通过输入特征融合对应物理信息。而基于卷积网络实现的各个模块能充分利用局部区域信息。此外,卷积模块引入了维度拓宽和缩减。在压缩信息的同时,也保证信息的精度。该模型分别被用于学习液体、沙子、雪等材料,并生成对应结果。经实验验证,该模型具有较强的信息提取能力,并在客观评价指标上都优于现有模型。 展开更多

以往的区域性滑坡易发性评价研究多以对比不同评价模型结果和改进模型为主,而忽视了所选致灾因子的信息保留以及因子量纲如何统一的问题。为探究致灾因子的相关性和量纲对易发性评价结果的影响,以甘肃省靖远县北部地区作为研究区,选取... 以往的区域性滑坡易发性评价研究多以对比不同评价模型结果和改进模型为主,而忽视了所选致灾因子的信息保留以及因子量纲如何统一的问题。为探究致灾因子的相关性和量纲对易发性评价结果的影响,以甘肃省靖远县北部地区作为研究区,选取高程、坡度、坡向和地形起伏度等12个因子,利用主成分分析提取的新因子参与易发性评价,并采用数据标准化、滑坡密度和信息量值替代法统一致灾因子的量纲,最后基于GIS平台绘制研究区滑坡易发性分区图。通过ROC曲线评估各模型的易发性评价结果精度。结果表明:在信息量模型、逻辑回归模型和感知机模型中,经主成分分析处理的因子得到的模型评价结果精度更高,采用信息量值替代法统一因子的量纲能够进一步提升逻辑回归和感知机模型的评价结果精度;同时,3种评价模型中感知机模型的结果精度最高(AUC=0.9367),优于信息量模型(AUC=0.9173)和逻辑回归模型(AUC=0.9272),是该研究区滑坡易发性评价的理想模型,应优先考虑。研究结果可为类似地区的防灾减灾工作提供基础数据和理论参考。 展开更多

Controlled quantum teleportation(CQT), which is regarded as the prelude and backbone for a genuine quantum internet, reveals the cooperation, supervision, and control relationship among the sender, receiver, and contr... Controlled quantum teleportation(CQT), which is regarded as the prelude and backbone for a genuine quantum internet, reveals the cooperation, supervision, and control relationship among the sender, receiver, and controller in the quantum network within the simplest unit. Compared with low-dimensional counterparts, high-dimensional CQT can exhibit larger information transmission capacity and higher superiority of the controller's authority. In this article, we report a proof-of-principle experimental realization of three-dimensional(3D) CQT with a fidelity of 97.4% ± 0.2%. To reduce the complexity of the circuit, we simulate a standard 4-qutrit CQT protocol in a 9×9-dimensional two-photon system with high-quality operations. The corresponding control powers are 48.1% ± 0.2% for teleporting a qutrit and 52.8% ± 0.3% for teleporting a qubit in the experiment, which are both higher than the theoretical value of control power in 2-dimensional CQT protocol(33%). The results fully demonstrate the advantages of high-dimensional multi-partite entangled networks and provide new avenues for constructing complex quantum networks. 展开更多

为了解决传统数值方法的不足,使用神经网络求解偏微分方程成为了数值计算领域的研究热点。以二维稳态热传导方程为例,尝试采用基于无监督学习的传统物理信息神经网络(physics-informed neural network,PINN)方法和自适应激活函数PINN方... 为了解决传统数值方法的不足,使用神经网络求解偏微分方程成为了数值计算领域的研究热点。以二维稳态热传导方程为例,尝试采用基于无监督学习的传统物理信息神经网络(physics-informed neural network,PINN)方法和自适应激活函数PINN方法求解偏微分方程,讨论采样点选取以及网络结构对PINN方法求解精度的影响。结果表明,PINN可以实现二维稳态热传导方程的无监督学习;在传统PINN方法中引入自适应激活函数加快了二维稳态热传导方程求解的速度;采样点选取相较于网络结构对PINN方法求解精度影响更大。因此,自适应激活函数PINN方法相较于传统PINN方法具有速度更快精度更高的优势。 展开更多
