Optimal Configuration Method for the Installed Capacity of the Solar-Thermal Power Stations

Because of the randomness of wind power and photovoltaic(PV)output of new energy bases,the problem of peak regulation capability and voltage stability of ultra-high voltage direct current(UHVDC)transmission lines,we proposed an optimum allocation method of installed capacity of the solar-thermal power station based on chance constrained programming in this work.Firstly,we established the uncertainty model of wind power and PV based on the chance constrained planning theory.Then we used the K-medoids clusteringmethod to cluster the scenarios considering the actual operation scenarios throughout the year.Secondly,we established the optimal configuration model based on the objective function of the strongest transient voltage stability and the lowest overall cost of operation.Finally,by quantitative analysis of actual wind power and photovoltaic new energy base,this work verified the feasibility of the proposed method.As a result of the simulations,we found that using the optimal configuration method of solar-thermal power stations could ensure an accurate allocation of installed capacity.When the installed capacity of the solar-thermal power station is 1×106 kW,the transient voltage recovery index(TVRI)is 0.359,which has a strong voltage support capacity for the system.Based on the results of this work,the optimal configuration of the installed capacity of the solar-thermal power plant can improve peak shaving performance,transient voltage support capability,and new energy consumption while satisfying the Direct Current(DC)outgoing transmission premise. 展开更多

With the increasing severity of environmental problems,many countries have set energy transition targets to promote the realization of the Paris Agreement.There has been a global consensus on utilizing solar energy resources as alternatives to conventional sources to support this energy transition.In this regard,analyzing the“location,”“quantity,”and“quality”of global solar energy resources will not only assist an individual country to efficiently utilize these resources but also promote the realization of large-scale intercontinental resource utilization and complementation.This study established the basic database,model methods,and platform tools for global solar energy assessment,Then,a global solar energy resource assessment was conducted,which included the theoretical reserves(TRs),technical installed potential capacity(TPIC),and average development cost(ADC).A comparative analysis of the assessment results for all continents was also performed.After that,based on big data analysis and geographic information system(GIS)calculations,the distribution characteristics of the global solar power TPIC were calculated with the two core indicators,namely the capacity factor and ADC.Furthermore,a data-driven quantitative evaluation of the refined development potential of solar energy resources was performed.Finally,the reasonableness and coincidence analysis of the resource assessment results were verified using data from global and specifically Chinese photovoltaic(PV)bases. 展开更多

This paper presents the results of a technical and economic optimization study of the prospects of the Caspian Energy Ring(CER),connecting power systems of Russia,countries of the Caucasus,Central Asia,and South Asia.The CER,belonging partly to the emerging Asian Supergrid and partly to the existing European Supergrid,will become a bridge connecting these supergrids,laying the foundation for forming a global energy interconnection in the long term.The expansion of carbon-free renewable and nuclear facilities,low-carbon gas-fired power plants,and traditional thermal and hydro energy sources within the CER were considered in this study.The positive economic benefits of the creation of the CER are presented.Preliminary characteristics of the potential CER were also estimated. 展开更多

China has abundant wind energy resources and huge development potential among developing countries.Japan is a developed country that planned to increase the use of renewable energy,especially wind energy.This research is aimed at reviewing the development of wind power and relevant policies between China and Japan.Firstly,we introduced the current status of global wind power development,such as the global installed capacity of wind power.The annual development of wind power generation in China and Japan is compared,and the distribution characteristics of wind resources are compared.Furthermore,the market share in China and Japan is introduced.Finally,according to the comparison of the government policies between China and Japan,we pointed out the existing problems in the wind power industry.In addition,we gave some suggestions on the development of wind power for China and Japan.These suggestions should be taken into account when designing national climate policies and have an important reference value for the future development of China’s wind energy industry. 展开更多

In the existing electricity market,the traditional power suppliers and renewable energy generators coexist in the power supply side. In the power supply side,renewable energy generators generate power by wind and other natural conditions,leading renewable energy output a certain randomness. However,the low marginal generating cost and the reduction of carbon emissions,and thus brings a certain advantage for renewable energy compared to alternative energy. Electricity,as a special commodity,stable and adequate power supply is a necessary guarantee for economic and social development. Power shortage situation is not allowed in the power system,and the extra power needs to be handled for the purpose of safety. In this paper,the hybrid power generated by renewable energy generators and traditional energy generators is used as power supply,and then the electricity market sells hybrid power to electricity consumers,the hybrid power system determines the optimal daytimeprice,nighttime price,and the optimal installed capacity of the renewable energy suppliers. We find that the installed capacity of renewable energy increases first and then decreases with the increase of the price sensitivity coefficient of traditional energy supply. Electricity demand is negatively related to electricity price in the current period,and is positively related to price in the other period. The average price of day and night is only related to the total potential demand of day and night and the total generation probability of renewable energy. The price difference between daytime and nighttime is positively related to potential electricity demand,and negatively related to the sensitivity coefficient of electricity price. 展开更多

Circulating fluidized bed(CFB)boilers has realized the clean and efficient utilization of inferior coal like gangue and coal slime,high sulfur coal,anthracite,petroleum coke,oil shale and other resources.As a country with the largest amount of CFB boilers and the largest installed capacity in the world,China has 440100-600 MWe CFB boilers with a total capacity of 82.29 GWe,including 227 units of 135 MWe,95 units of300 MWe,and 24 supercritical units.The statistics of typical 100-300 MWe CFB boilers showed that the average number of unplanned shut-down was only 0.37 times per year,among which the 135 MWe was 0.26 times per year and 300 MWe was 0.46 times per ycai*.The auxiliary power ratio of some 300 MWe CFB boilers based on flow-pattern reconstruction can be reduced to about 4%,which is closed to the same level of pulverized coal(PC)boilers.This paper summarizes the development process and application status of China's large-scale CFB boilers,analyzes the characteristics and technical performance of the iconic units,and introduces solutions to the problems such as water wall wear and bottom ash cooling. 展开更多

It is economic and secure to determine the optimal siting and sizing of the offshore wind farms(OWFs)integrated into the AC system through voltage-source converter high-voltage direct current(VSC-HVDC)links.In this paper,an integrated planning model for the VSC-HVDC-link-based OWFs and the capacitors is proposed,where a decomposition technique is presented to solve the proposed mixed-integer nonlinear programming(MINLP)problem and obtain the optimal solution.This model can optimize the siting and sizing of the OWFs to improve the voltage profile and reduce the adverse influence of the reactive power of the OWFs.With the proposed planning model,the total investment costs,operation costs and maintenance costs of the OWFs,VSC-HVDC links,and the capacitors can be minimized.Simulations on the modified IEEE 118-bus system show that the proposed integrated planning model can provide more economic scheme than the independent planning scheme,in which the capacitors are planned after the OWFs.Besides,a series of sensitivity analysis on certain equipment costs are studied to obtain the regular pattern for sizing VSC stations. 展开更多
