In the present work, the instantaneous stability of a finite Stokes layer with layer interactions is studied via a linear stability analysis of the frozen phases of the base flow. The oscillations of two plates can have different velocity amplitudes, initial phases, and frequencies. The effects of the Stokes-layer interactions on the stability when two plates oscillate synchronously are analyzed. The growth rates of two most unstable modes when δ < 0.12 are almost equal, and δ = δ*/h*, where δ*and h*are the Stokes-layer thickness and the half height of the channel, respectively. However, their vorticities are different. The vorticity of the most unstable mode is symmetric, while the other is asymmetric. The Stokes-layer interactions have a destabilizing effect on the most unstable mode when δ < 0.68, and have a stabilizing effect when δ > 0.68. However, the interactions always have a stabilizing effect on the other unstable mode. It is explained that one of the two unstable modes has much higher dissipation than the other one when the Stokes-layer interactions are strong. We also find that the stability of the Stokes layer is closely related to the inflectional points of the base-flow velocity profile. The effects of inconsistent velocity-amplitude, initial phase, and frequency of the oscillations on the stability are analyzed. The energy of the most unstable eigenvector is mainly distributed near the plate of higher velocity amplitude or higher oscillation frequency. The effects of the initial phase difference are complicated because the base-flow velocity is extremely sensitive to the initial phase.展开更多

Conducting damage perception of planetary gear trains is of great significance for the safe operation of equipment. Existing methods for damage perception of planetary gear trains mainly rely on linear vibration analysis. However, these methods based on linear vibration signal analysis face challenges such as rich vibration sources, complex signal coupling and modulation mechanisms, significant influence of transmission paths, and difficulties in separating damage information. This paper proposes a method for separating instantaneous angular speed (IAS) signals for planetary gear fault diagnosis. Firstly, this method obtains encoder pulse signals through a built-in encoder. Based on this, it calculates the IAS signals using the Hilbert transform, and obtains the time-domain synchronous average signal of the IAS of the planetary gear through time-domain synchronous averaging technology, thus realizing the fault diagnosis of the planetary gear train. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the calculated IAS signals, demonstrating that the time-domain synchronous averaging technology can highlight impact characteristics, effectively separate and extract fault impacts, greatly reduce the testing cost of experiments, and provide an effective tool for the fault diagnosis of planetary gear trains.展开更多

However, the presence of noise introduces certain limitations and challenges. It is crucial to harness wideband technology for applications demanding the rapid and precise transmission of diverse information from one point to another within a short timeframe. The ability to report a signal without tuning within the input bandwidth stands out as one of the advantages of employing a digital wideband receiver. As indicated, a digital wideband receiver plays a pivotal role in achieving high precision and accuracy. The primary distinction between Analog and Digital Instantaneous Frequency Measurement lies in the fact that analog Instantaneous Frequency Measurement (IFM) receivers have traditionally covered extensive input bandwidths, reporting one accurate frequency per short pulse. In the contemporary landscape, digital IFM systems utilize high-sampling-rate Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC) along with Hilbert transforms to generate two output channels featuring a 90-degree phase shift. This paper explores the improvement of sensitivity in current digital IFM receivers. The optimization efforts target the Hilbert transform and autocorrelations architectures, aiming to refine the system’s ability to report fine frequencies within a noisy wide bandwidth environment, thereby elevating its overall sensitivity.展开更多

This requires that analytical description, formulation and operation for both finite and instantaneous motions are performed by the same mathematical tool. Based upon finite and instantaneous screw theory, a unified and systematic approach for topology design and kinematic analysis of PKMs is proposed in this paper. Using the derivative mapping between finite and instantaneous screws built in the authors’ previous work, the finite and instantaneous motions of PKMs are analytically described by the simple and non?redundant screws in quasi?vector and vector forms. And topological and parametric models of PKMs are algebraically formulated and related. These related topological and parametric models are ready to do type synthesis and kinematic analysis of PKMs under the unified framework of screw theory. In order to show the validity of the proposed approach, a kind of two?translational and three?rotational(2T3R)5?axis PKMs is taken as example. Numerous new structures of the 2T3R PKMs are synthe?sized as the results of topology design, and their Jacobian matrix is obtained easily for parameter optimization and performance evaluation. Some of the synthesized PKMs have outstanding capabilities in terms of large workspaces and flexible orientations, and have great potential for industrial applications of machining and manufacture. Among them, METROM PKM is a typical example which has attracted a lot of attention from global companies and already been developed as commercial products. The approach is a general and unified approach that can be used in the innovative design of different kinds of PKMs.展开更多

Its applica- tion in the real radar system is also discussed. The analysis indicates that instantaneous polarization radar ([PR) has inherent cross-polarization measurement error. The proposed method can effectively eliminate this error, and thus enhance the polarization scattering matrix (PSM) measurement precision. The phase error caused by digital receiver's direct IF sampling and mixing of two orthogonal polarization channels can be removed. Consequently, the inherent error of target polarization scattering measurement of the instantaneous polarization radar system is well revised. It has good reference value for further ploarimetric calibration and high practical application prospect.展开更多

By utilizing instantaneous frequencyestimation (IFE) theoretics of TFA technique, and based on IFE of peak searching on thetime-frequency spectrum, order analysis (OA) functions is put forward and implemented, such as orderspectrum, order spectrum matrix, order tracking, order tracking filtering, and order componentextraction, etc. Unlike the home and abroad existing popular characteristic analyzers, which needkey phasing devices such as shaft encoder, phase-locked loop (PLL), phase-locked multiple frequency, tachometer, etc, to implement constant angle sampling directly or indirectly, whereas thisinstrument only uses the vibration signal of rotating machinery to carry out OA. This instrumentmakes up the shortage of these traditional instruments in analyzing the non-stationary signal ofrun-up and run-down process of rotating machinery. The rolling element bearing IRF can be accurately estimated according to the instantaneous fault characteristic frequency(IFCF). However, in an environment with a low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR), e.g., an incipient fault or function at a low speed, the signal contains strong background noise that seriously affects the effectiveness of the aforementioned method. An algorithm of signal preprocessing based on empirical mode decomposition(EMD) and wavelet shrinkage was proposed in this work. Compared with EMD denoising by the cross-correlation coefficient and kurtosis(CCK) criterion, the method of EMD soft-thresholding(ST) denoising can ensure the integrity of the signal, improve the SNR, and highlight fault features. The effectiveness of the algorithm for rolling element bearing IRF estimation by EMD ST denoising and the IFCF was validated by both simulated and experimental bearing vibration signals at a low SNR.展开更多

Results showed that the loss of Vc increased with elevated processing temperatures(50 MPa, 4 min). When the temperature of raw juices was 35℃, the retention of total Vc was higher under 40 - 60 MPa than that under the pressure < 40 MPa or > 60 MPa, and it was up to 94%(4 min). The retention of total Vc decreases slowly within 6 min, but rapidly after 6 min. The pH can also influence the retention of total Vc, and this retention can come to a highest point at pH 6.0.展开更多

However, besides the complexity of gear dynamics, the diagnosis results in terms of vibration signal are easily misjudged owing to the interference of sensor position or other components. In this paper, an alternative gearbox fault detection method based on the instantaneous rotational speed is proposed because of its advantages over vibration analysis. Depending on the timer/counter-based method for the pulse signal of the optical encoder, the varying rotational speed can be obtained e ectively. Owing to the coupling and meshing of gears in transmission, the excitations are the same for the instantaneous rotational speed of the input and output shafts. Thus, the di erential signal of instantaneous rotational speeds can be adopted to eliminate the e ect of the interference excitations and extract the associated feature of the localized fault e ectively. With the experiments on multistage gearbox test system, the di erential signal of instantaneous speeds is compared with other signals. It is proved that localized faults in the gearbox generate small angular speed fluctuations, which are measurable with an optical encoder. Using the di erential signal of instantaneous speeds, the fault characteristics are extracted in the spectrum where the deterministic frequency component and its harmonics corresponding to crack fault characteristics are displayed clearly.展开更多

In practice, they are not even aggregates of sinusoidal signals. Therefore, the frequency decomposition for the data requires technique that will account for the time-varying features of the data that will lead to deduction of physical meaning of the observations. The combination of empirical mode decompo- sition (EMD) and Hilbert transform has been used for extracting the various contributing oscillatory modes (EMDs) and the instantaneous frequency determination (Hilbert transform) of every physically meaningful mode called intrinsic mode func- tion (IMF). The resulting instantaneous frequencies are used to determine instantaneous wave vectors. The combination of the instantaneous frequencies and wave vectors is useful in the identification of wave modes based on the characteristics of the waves. The results show that EMD-Hilbert can be more reliable than simple Hilbert transform alone.展开更多

In this paper, the MRF damper-based semi-active control system is applied to a long-span spatially extended structure and its feasibility is discussed. Meanwhile, a _trust-region method based instantaneous optimal semi-active control algorithm (TIOC) is proposed to improve the performance of the semi-active control system in a multiple damper situation. The proposed TIOC describes the control process as a bounded constraint optimization problem, in which an optimal semi- active control force vector is solved by the trust-region method in every control step to minimize the structural responses. A numerical example of a railway station roof structure installed with MRF-04K dampers is presented. First, a modified Bouc- Wen model is utilized to describe the behavior of the selected MRF-04K damper. Then, two semi-active control systems, including the well-known clipped-optimal controller and the proposed TIOC controller, are considered. Based on the characteristics of the long-span spatially extended structure, the performance of the control system is evaluated under uniform earthquake excitation and travelling-wave excitation with different apparent velocities. The simulation results indicate that the MR fluid damper-based semi-active control systems have the potential to mitigate the responses of full-scale long-span spatially extended structures under earthquake hazards. The superiority of the proposed TIOC controller is demonstrated by comparing its control effectiveness with the clipped-optimal controller for several different cases.展开更多

The approach is a general and unified approach that can be used in the innovative design of different kinds of PKMs.

文摘A novel polarimetric calibration method for new target property measurement radar system is presented. It has good reference value for further ploarimetric calibration and high practical application prospect.
文摘Based on the recently quick-developing time-frequency analysis (TFA)technique and virtual instrument (VI) technique, a virtual instrument in characteristic analysis ofrotating machinery is researched and developed successfully. Therefore, it is a great breakthrough for theexisting order analyzers.

文摘The purpose of this paper is to investigate the instantaneous properties of wave slanuning on the plate structure of an open structure. The advanced instantaneous measuring technique-Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) is applied to acquire the instantaneous velocity field of wave slamming. From the cross-correlation analysis results of the images captured by the CCD camera, the flow fields of wave impacting on the structure are displayed visually, and the instantaneous whole- field fluid velocity vectors are obtained. The relation between the instantaneous peak impacting pressures and the instantaneous velocities of water particles is studied by probability analysis.

文摘The accurate estimation of the rolling element bearing instantaneous rotational frequency(IRF) is the key capability of the order tracking method based on time-frequency analysis. The effectiveness of the algorithm for rolling element bearing IRF estimation by EMD ST denoising and the IFCF was validated by both simulated and experimental bearing vibration signals at a low SNR.
文摘Based on the instantaneous high-pressure(IHP)produced by high-pressure single pole-cylinder pump, the effects of combining this pressure with medium temperature on the retention of total vitamin C(Vc)in wax gourd juices were investigated under 20 - 80 MPa, 35 - 58℃, pH 3. 0 - 6. 0 and processing time 0-8 min. The pH can also influence the retention of total Vc, and this retention can come to a highest point at pH 6.0.

文摘Adopting "simultaneous transmitting, simultaneous receiving" operational scheme, instantaneous polarization radar (IPR) can measure target polarization scattering matrix (PSM) using only once target echoes in two orthogonal polarization channels. Firstly, signal model and signal process are advanced under narrowband condition. Secondly, measurement performances of two typical IPR waveforms are analyzed in detail. At last, field experiments are carried out using X-band IPR system designed by National University of Defense Technology (NUDT), China. Compared with results obtained by alternative polarization measurement scheme, following results can be obtained: the difference of relative amplitude measurement results is smaller than 2 dB and that of relative phase measurement results is smaller than 10?, verifying the validity of instantaneous polarization measurement scheme.

文摘Considerable studies have been carried out on fault diagnosis of gears, with most of them concentrated on conventional vibration analysis. Using the di erential signal of instantaneous speeds, the fault characteristics are extracted in the spectrum where the deterministic frequency component and its harmonics corresponding to crack fault characteristics are displayed clearly.
文摘Observational data such as those obtained from the magnetosheath in the downstream of Earth's bow shock have waveforms that differ from those of sinusoidal signals. The results show that EMD-Hilbert can be more reliable than simple Hilbert transform alone.

文摘The instantaneous kinematics of a special 3-UPU parallel platform manipulator is discussed. First, the instantaneous motions of the 3-UPU manipulator in four kinds of positions and a special manipulator are studied by reciprocal screw theory. Then, the principal screws in one of four positions are obtained. It is shown that the moving platform has five degrees of freedom (DOF) in the initial position or after a translation along the z-axis; In the generic position, the mechanism only has three DOF, moreover the three DOF characteristics are different in different position. The instantaneous kinematic characteristics of alike 3-UPU mechanisms are very different in different position and special structure. The results presented are important to the use of alike 3-UPU parallel manipulator and contribute to the mechanism theory .

文摘In the field of civil engineering, magnetorheological fluid (MRF) damper-based semi-active control systems have received considerable attention for use in protecting structures from natural hazards such as strong earthquakes and high winds. The superiority of the proposed TIOC controller is demonstrated by comparing its control effectiveness with the clipped-optimal controller for several different cases.
