Research on the Innovative Path of Integrating Qilu Costume Culture into Aesthetic Education in Elementary Schools

Inheriting and promoting the excellent traditional Chinese culture should begin with the youth,as elementary school aesthetic education plays a crucial role in this process of cultural dissemination.At present,elementary school aesthetic education mainly focuses on traditional fields such as art,music,dance,calligraphy,etc.,and there is still much room for innovation in communication carriers and paths.Based on this status quo,combining professional and regional advantages,this article proposes to take Qilu characteristic costume culture as a carrier to integrate the innovation of excellent traditional Chinese culture into elementary school aesthetic education.It aims to cultivate humanistic literacy and a sense of belonging in school-age children and establish cultural confidence.

Family Environment Factors to Impact on the Effect of the Smoking Prevention Educational Program for Elementary and Junior High School Students

Smoking is a major health problem in many countries. It has been reported on the effects of education on youth with a reduced smoking rate and developed awareness of avoiding smoking verified as a result of educational intervention. The aim of this study was to verify the relationship between sex, school age, and family smoking and the effectiveness of smoking prevention education program (SPEP) as factors that impact the effectiveness of SPEP in elementary school and junior high school students. The participants in this survey were 6676 students, who attended elementary and junior high schools in Tokushima Prefecture between 2011 and 2015, and attended the SPEP. As factors that influence the effectiveness of the SPEP, we examined school types, sex, smokers in the family. Participants were asked the following questions before and after the SPEP to measure awareness of and attitudes toward smoking: “intention not to smoke cigarettes as adults”, “intention to refuse cigarettes when offered”, “attitude of staying away from smokers”, and “desire that their family will not smoke”. The number of survey collected was 6676, with effective responses from 5974 (90%). Among the 5974, there were 2963 (50%) males and 3011 (50%) females, 5106 elementary school students (86%), and 868 junior high school students (15%). In the case of smoker mother, it was difficult to improve these children’s “intention not to smoke as adults”, “intention to refuse cigarettes when offered”, and smoker father, it was difficult to improve these children’s “attitude of staying away from smokers”, and “desire that their family will not smoke”. Especially, in the case of smoker parents, it was particularly difficult for the SPEP to be effective in improving awareness of and attitudes toward smoking among elementary and junior high school students.

Local Wisdom-Based Character Education Model in Elementary School in Bantu1 Yogyakarta Indonesia

This study aimed at developing the integrated character education model based on local wisdom in elementary schools in Bantul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The method used was the model proposed by Borg and Gall. This research has been in 7th step of 10 steps. The data were collected through Focused-Group Discussion （FGD）, questionnaire distribution, and observation. The data were analysed qualitatively and quantitatively. The data then were validated by using content validation. Meanwhile, the qualitative data were validated through triangulation. The model consists of three main topics： （1） batik making on pottery piggie banks which integrates creativity, determination, and responsibility; （2） traditional song called ＂Cublak-cublak Suweng＂ integrating knowledge loving value, honesty, and responsibility; and （3） traditional game and song ＂Gundhul-gnndhul Pacul＂ integrating some values such as modesty, carefulness, and cooperation. This research needs to be continued to the next step, namely： field testing, finishing, deissemination, and implementation.

Investigation and Research on Safety Education in Village Elementary Schools in Counties ——With Nanxian County, Hunan as an Example

The basic education in the new period has changed quickly, and all kinds of education departments have strengthened safety education by various approaches;however, the students' safety accidents across the country have still happened frequently, so the people have spontaneously paid attention to and reflected on the students' safety education issue, especially the safety education in the elementary schools where the students are younger. In this paper, the village elementary schools in the counties have been taken as the research object, and the research methods such as documentary method and interview method have been adopted to analyze the current situation of safety education in the village elementary schools in Nanxian County from the aspects such as safety education management, safety education content, safety education awareness, safety education effect and safety education approach.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau is one of the most important philosophers,writers and composers in the 18th-century Enlightenment.His philosophy of education presented in his treatise,Emile,has been influential,and largely for good.Through the analysis of Rousseau' s philosophy of education and American education ideas in the elementary and secondary schools,this paper argues that Rousseau' s Philosophy of education has a great impact on American elementary and secondary education because it stresses the physical and emotional development of the child,the importance of a progressive education adapted to the individuals and the teacher must understand the child.

Science Teaching Efficacy Beliefs of Palestinian Elementary Education Students

To assess elementary education students’self-efficacy beliefs in science teaching,the Science Teaching Efficacy Belief Instrument developed by Enochs and Riggs was used.The instrument consisted of two scales,Personal Science Teaching Efficacy Belief Scale and the Outcome Expectancy Scale.It was administered to 90 undergraduate university students majoring in elementary education at a large public Palestinian university.Results indicated that students’self-efficacy beliefs in science teaching were comparable to those reported in the original study by Enochs and Riggs.Overall,the participants presented moderate to high self-efficacy in science teaching.

Comparison Between Chinese and American Elementary Education Through the Lens of Gender

In the era of knowledge economy,education determines the competition of a nation.The United States is famous for its quality education around the world.However,in modern times,new challenges have emerged,especially in K-12 education.Although China highly emphasizes on education,due to its limitation of history and development,there are still many problems that need to be solved.Through the comparison of Chinese and American elementary education,the educational strategy can be refined based on different cultural contexts.It is particularly important to stress on gender issues in elementary education in terms of sociological value.The intangible gender bias still exists in other forms.In other words,it is crucial to create a learning environment with gender equality as a response to current gender issues.This study is mainly carried out by reviewing literatures,and the paper is divided into five parts.With a brief introduction of elementary education and gender consideration,this study compares the Chinese and American elementary education system and gender impact.Then,two research results,as a quantitative data,are discussed in this paper,reflecting how gender stereotypes influence elementary education.

An Assessment of English Instruction for Elementary-Level Students in Jeddah Governorate, as Perceived by English Supervisors and Educators

This study investigated the perceptions of English educators and supervisors in Jeddah Governorate regarding the process of teaching English to elementary students.A survey was conducted using a sample size of 94 educators and 10 supervisors.The data indicate that respondents considered English instruction at the elementary level essential for expanding kids’perspectives,improving academic performance,and promoting international involvement.The main advantages cited are the development of English language skills and the promotion of early education.Although not as easily noticeable,the disadvantages include potential negative impacts on an individual’s proficiency in Arabic and their sense of national identification.The highlighted challenges encompass insufficient teacher training,student reluctance towards English,limited resources,and school disparities.The proposed techniques focused on prioritizing English instructors’training,ensuring the use of appropriate content,utilizing technology,and promoting awareness of students and educators.The current research found different obstacles in teaching English at elementary stages.To overcome these obstacles,it will be essential to enhance teacher competencies,develop efficient teaching methods,get the backing of stakeholders,assign adequate resources,and carry out continuous evaluations.Further research can also contribute to a better understanding of how early English learning impacts on Arabic identity and proficiency.

Exploring the Assignment of Elementary School Physical Education Homework from the Perspective of Home-School Cooperation

This research explores the impact of family-school collaboration on elementary school physical education homework completion. The study investigates the role of cooperation between families and schools in enhancing the completion rates of physical education homework among elementary school students. Data analysis reveals that a higher degree of collaboration is associated with increased homework completion rates. Furthermore, active family involvement and support significantly contribute to higher completion rates. The study also highlights the creation of a positive learning environment through collaboration, reducing student anxiety, and boosting self-esteem. Theoretical implications emphasize the enrichment of family education and cooperation theories, while practical implications suggest policy guidance and improvements in educational practices. The study underscores the importance of family-school collaboration in supporting students’ physical education and holistic development.

The Impact of Interdisciplinary Curriculum Design Based on STEM Education on Elementary Students’Innovative Thinking Abilities

This study investigates the impact of an interdisciplinary STEM curriculum on the innovative thinking abilities of elementary school students.Employing a mixed-methods research design,the study compares an experimental group engaged in an integrated STEM curriculum with a control group following a traditional curriculum.Quantitative data,collected through pre-and post-implementation assessments,indicate a significant enhancement in innovative thinking abilities among students in the experimental group.Qualitative data,derived from interviews and focus groups,reveal improvements in student engagement,problem-solving skills,and interdisciplinary learning experiences.The study discusses the implications of these findings,highlighting the advantages and challenges of interdisciplinary curriculum design.It concludes with recommendations for educational practice and suggestions for future research.Limitations of the study and the need for longitudinal research are also addressed.

Research on the Practical Effects and Challenges of Social-Emotional Learning in Elementary Education

This research investigates the practical effects and challenges of Social-Emotional Learning(SEL)in elementary education through a mixed-methods approach.The study involved a thorough analysis of SEL’s impact on students’emotional development,social skills,academic performance,and behavioral issues across three case study schools.Findings indicate significant positive effects of SEL on students’abilities to recognize and manage emotions,engage in social interactions,and improve academic achievements.However,challenges such as teacher training,curriculum integration,family and community involvement,and resource limitations were identified.The study concludes with recommendations for enhancing SEL practices in elementary education,emphasizing systematic teacher training,curriculum design,and continuous assessment and improvement.Future research directions are suggested to explore the long-term effects of SEL and its adaptation in various educational contexts.

Chinese Traditional Culture Education:Implementing the Child's Position and Perspective in the Elementary Schooi Textbook Morality and Law

Purpose:Failure to clarify the position of children in Chinese culture is a significant issue faced by Chinese traditional culture education(CTCE).Indeed,moral education needs to establish child's perspective and position in Chinese society and incorporate these into the curricula on the excellent Chinese traditional culture.This study explores how the elementary school textbook,Morality and Law,has approached CTCE.Design/Approach/Methods:First,this article analyzes practical dificulties in CTCE:omission child's position.Second,this article explores the child's position needed by CTCE based on Rousseau,Montessori,and Dewey's contemporary views on children.At last,this article explores the strategyof how to implement the child's position in CTCE based on Morality and Law.Findings:In respect to CTCE,Morality and Law positions children in various ways.In terms of its educational goal,the textbook is intended to improve children's cultural education and appreciation.While the textbook's editors mainly select positive content,negative content is also included.Always taking the child into consideration,the textbook incorporates systemized knowledge into children's own lives,particularly insofar as the teaching strategy uses events or experiences in which children are interested.

Comparison of Elementary Educational Facility Allocation Patterns and Planning Strategies in Rural Areas:Case Studies of Central and Eastern China

Elementary educational facilities are one of the essential public service facilities in rural China. Based on case studies of two countylevel cities in central and eastern China, this paper explores issues regarding a rational allocation of elementary educational facilities in rural areas, including different allocation patterns and effects, and rural residents' views on elementary educational facilities, as well as their preference when choosing schools. This paper, on the basis of empirical studies, concludes that relevant policies and planning strategies should be adjusted in accordance with the general trends of rural population being decreasing continuously and the student pool concentrating toward towns, so as to achieve an efficient and fair allocation of elementary educational facilities.

Using Teacher Goal Boards to Promote Healthy Eating and Physical Activity among Elementary Students

Background: The purpose of this study was to explore the feasibility and understand the potential impact on elementary students’ perceptions of, and intentions related to, healthy eating and physical activity when their classroom teacher sets and shares goals related to these health behaviors. Methods: Participants in this study included 16 teachers and 229 students of grades 3 - 6 at a large elementary school in the Western United States. Participating students were surveyed before and after a six-week intervention conducted by classroom teachers that consisted of a weekly displaying of Teacher Goal Boards in a prominent classroom location and sharing of goals set for the week. Teacher reports of the previous week’s goals occurred each Monday prior to sharing and posting of new goals for the new week. Results: Respondents reported significantly higher post-test values for over half of pre-post comparisons. Respondents were more likely to intend to be physically active (post = 52.6% vs. pre = 39.0%, p = 0.003), to eat nutritious foods (52.0% vs. 36.4%, p = 0.001), and to maintain a healthy body weight (62.8% vs. 52.2%, p = 0.022). Similar results were found for summary measures. Intention to be physically active, to eat healthy, to maintain a healthy weight, as well as descriptive norms for physical activity and perception and value of personal health behaviors were all significantly higher at post-test. Discussion: This study and its findings are significant because teacher participants were able to significantly and positively impact on students’ behavioral intent, subjective norms, and perception and value of personal health behaviors amongst students without spending additional time on formal health promotion and education instruction. Conclusion: Schools should incentivize and encourage faculty and staff to engage in a variety of health behaviors to improve both personal health outcomes and role model health behaviors for students.

Chinese Upper Elementary School Mathematics Teachers’Attitudes towards the Place and Value of Problematic Word Problems in Mathematics Education

Word problems play a crucial role in mathematics education.However,the authenticity of word problems is quite controversial.In terms of the necessity of realistic considerations to be taken into account in the solution process,word problems have been classified into two categories:standard word problems(S-items)and problematic word problems(P-items).S-items refer to those problems involving the straightforward application of one or more arithmetical operations with the given numbers,whereas P-items call for the use of real-world knowledge and real-life experience in the problem-solving process.This study aims to explore how Chinese upper elementary school mathematics teachers think of the place and value of P-items in the elementary mathematics curriculum.
