In this paper, we present an interactive method for blending point-based geometries by dragging-and- dropping one point-based model onto another model’s surface metaphor. We first calculate a blending region based on the polygon of interest when the user drags-and-drops the model. Radial basis function is used to construct an implicit surface which smoothly interpolates with the transition regions. Continuing the drag-and-drop operation will make the system recalculate the blending regions and reconstruct the transition regions. The drag-and-drop operation can be compound in a constructive solid geometry (CSG) manner to interactively construct a complex point-based model from multiple simple ones. Experimental results showed that our method generates good quality transition regions between two raw point clouds and can effectively reduce the rate of overlapping during the blending.展开更多

Single glass transition temperatures intermediate between the two pure components were observed for all blend levels. The secondary relaxation mechanism should relate to not only diester linkage, but also hydroxyether structural unit in the system. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) is applied to study the curing reaction and intermolecular specific interaction of the system. The results indicate the PEO participates the crosslinking reaction, accelerates the curing reaction and make the reaction more perfect. The shifts of the hydroxyl band and carbonyl band demonstrate the presence of the intermolecular interaction in the cured blend. Moreover, the molecular interaction between the side hydroxyl in the hydroxyether units and the ether bond in PEO macromolecules is stronger.展开更多

Interactive design is the significant part of new media which has been proposed to the world for the past decades, and it is a very proficient technique. Interactive maps add more dimensions of information;they become a more and more helpful tools and resources. This research clarifies the idea of how we can smooth the progress of presenting and communicating the essential information using interactive manner. The interactive map of Bangkok underground train and sky train navigation routes map was developed as the case study using user-centered design (UCD) methodology as the fundamental developing processes. The main objective of the work is to develop the friendly and usable web based software that reduce the confusion and help users save times. The software developing processes in this work tend to focus on the users. And also the essential idea of the research is to take the uses and gratification communication theory of the users into account with the intention of providing what user requires by finding the real users’ requirements. This means the user can control software according to their needs and software act or response according to user’s requests. The paper mentions the role of communication theory, human computer interaction, and user-centered design software developing.展开更多

Before the first democratic elections in 1994, people of different cultures found it difficult to interact because of legislated racial segregation, which made it difficult for blacks to mix with whites in almost all spheres of life. The only place interaction could take place was in the workplace. As a result, children from different cultural groups had few opportunities to interact. This made it impossible for South African children to learn about the cultures of other racial groups. With the introduction of a democratic government, all segregation laws were relaxed and people mixed freely in all spheres of life. Intercultural communication became commonplace. This new scenario presented a challenge to many South African children, but despite the limits imposed before 1994, children from all racial groups associated successfully. Their ability to cope with this situation with so much more ease than adults was remarkable. This paper seeks to highlight the communication skills used by South African children from all cultural backgrounds to achieve intercultural competence in a relatively short space of time. The paper will further reflect on the impact made on African children by intercultural interaction and competence.展开更多

The data were based on video-recordings of the call-in program broadcast daily on Hakka channel in Taiwan, in which callers call to seek advice on health problems. The discourse analysis shows that callers' "multi-unit reason-for-the-call turns" can be classified into three forms including request, epistemic frame and descriptions of symptoms, and telling of lifestyle. The visual analysis demonstrates that the visual shots of "multi-unit reason-for-the-call turns" orient viewers to the studio scene in which the invited guest, usually the medical doctor, can be seen listening to callers' upcoming questions. Based on the analyses and an interview with the camera director of this television program, the discussion sheds light on how television production practices use callers' multi-unit turns as a resource for switching to the studio shot, which helps to build an image of the expert and his/her role and function in the advice-seeking program. In this sense, filming and television production practices rely on linguistic resources and the visualization of callers' multi-unit turns has meanings in the organization of studio interaction as "institutional interaction" (Drew & Heritage, 1992), being shaped by interactants' identities, roles, and tasks relevant for the specific institutional needs or purposes.展开更多

For this purpose I examine the concept of crisis entrepreneurship from a communication point of view. Using discourse analysis, I analyse the discursive practices of crisis entrepreneurs in the domain of education in the Netherlands. This paper is part of my Ph.D. project in which I examine the dilemmas encountered by crisis entrepreneurs and the interactional solutions they choose in addressing a crisis. In my Ph.D. project I have analysed how crisis entrepreneurs use discursive practices: (1) to show thefactuality of the problem. For example, the way the problem is presented is too theoretical and is not a problem in reality; (2) to present the credibility of the messenger as an authentic, legitimate spokesman. Crisis entrepreneurs may be accused of wanting to attract attention to their own cause; (3) to create the accountability for the problem and the solution. For example, crisis entrepreneurs can be accused of nursing personal grievances or of drawing attention to the issue without actively attempting to solve it. The conclusion is that a communication professional is able to recognize a problem raised by crisis entrepreneurs. Knowledge of interactional dilemmas helps communication professionals understand the potential of crisis entrepreneurs. A communication professional can therefore contribute to the recognition of crises by acknowledging that a crisis entrepreneur is someone who can have a strong hand in the public agenda, i.e., public affairs that are important to the authorities.展开更多

The miscibility of the components was studied by Differential Scanning Calorimetry—DSC. All blend systems are characterized by a single glass transition temperature (Tg), close to the Tg of the amorphous component. The Hoffman Weeks method was used to determine equilibrium melting temperature (Tm) data. The determination of the melt point depression of the blends allowed the calculation of Flory-Huggins interaction parameter (χ12) of the two polymers in the melt, by using the Nishi Wang equation. The interaction parameters, calculated for all the blends, are slightly negative and close to zero, suggesting a partial miscibility between the components.展开更多

Seventeen quantitative studies were identified which included 7680 (2008 male, 5812 females, and 40 unknown) participants as well as 224 carers. Two themes are discussed: 1) The expectations, experiences and perceptions of interactions with HCPs, and 2) The factors that influenced interactions and relationships. Discussion: There is need for improvement in the content and provision of information to patients with MS from HCPs. Specific strategies are suggested and implications for patients and health care providers are considered.

文摘Blends of polyacrylamide—PAM, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)—PNIPAAm, poly(N-tert-butylacrylamide)—PTBAA, poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide)—PDMAA and poly(N,N-diethylacrylamide)—PDEAA with poly(ethylene glycol)— PEG were prepared by casting in methanol and water at concentrations of 20 wt%, 40 wt%, 60 wt%, and 80 wt% in PEG. The interaction parameters, calculated for all the blends, are slightly negative and close to zero, suggesting a partial miscibility between the components.

文摘In this study, umami taste intensity(UTI)and umami taste components in chicken breast(CB)and chickenspices blends were characterized using sensory and instrumental analysis. Our main objective was to assess the aroma-umami taste interactions in different food matrices and reconcile the aroma-taste perception to assist future product development. The impact of key aroma, including vegetable-note"2-pentylfuran",meaty"methional",green"hexanal",and spicy-note-estragole and caryophyllene"on UTI was evaluated in monosodium glutamate and chicken extract. We found that spices significantly decreased UTI and umami taste components in CB.Interestingly, the perceptually similar odorants and tastants exhibited the potential to enhance UTI in food matrices.Methional was able to increase the UTI,whereas spicy and green-note components could reduce the UTI significantly. This information would be valuable to food engineers and formulators in aroma selection to control the UTI perceived by consumers, thus, improving the quality and acceptability of the chicken products.
文摘In foreign language teaching, the communicative approach has been a dominant method for decades. However, some misconceptions of the communicative approach affect the results of group interaction teaching. This article tries to explore some existing problems as well as some relevant solution in the application of group activities in colleges with the aid of observation, questionnaire and interview.
