Among these few sperm, only one participates in fertilization. There might be an ingenious molecular mechanism to ensure that the very best sperm fertilize an egg. However, recent gene disruption experiments in mice have revealed that many factors previously described as important for fertilization are largely dispensable. One could argue that the fertilization mechanism is made robust against gene disruptions. However, this is not likely, as there are already six different gene-disrupted mouse lines (Calmegin, Adam Ia, Adam2, Adam3, Ace and Pgapl), all of which result in male sterility. The sperm from these animals are known to have defective zona-binding ability and at the same time lose oviduct-migrating ability. Concerning spermzona binding, the widely accepted involvement of sugar moiety on zona pellucida 3 (ZP3) is indicated to be dispensable by gene disruption experiments. Thus, the landscape of the mechanism of fertilization is revolving considerably. In the sperm-egg fusion process, CD9 on egg and IZUMO1 on sperm have emerged as essential factors. This review focuses on the mechanism of fertilization elucidated by gene-manipulated animals.展开更多

For this purpose I examine the concept of crisis entrepreneurship from a communication point of view. Using discourse analysis, I analyse the discursive practices of crisis entrepreneurs in the domain of education in the Netherlands. This paper is part of my Ph.D. project in which I examine the dilemmas encountered by crisis entrepreneurs and the interactional solutions they choose in addressing a crisis. In my Ph.D. project I have analysed how crisis entrepreneurs use discursive practices: (1) to show thefactuality of the problem. For example, the way the problem is presented is too theoretical and is not a problem in reality; (2) to present the credibility of the messenger as an authentic, legitimate spokesman. Crisis entrepreneurs may be accused of wanting to attract attention to their own cause; (3) to create the accountability for the problem and the solution. For example, crisis entrepreneurs can be accused of nursing personal grievances or of drawing attention to the issue without actively attempting to solve it. The conclusion is that a communication professional is able to recognize a problem raised by crisis entrepreneurs. Knowledge of interactional dilemmas helps communication professionals understand the potential of crisis entrepreneurs. A communication professional can therefore contribute to the recognition of crises by acknowledging that a crisis entrepreneur is someone who can have a strong hand in the public agenda, i.e., public affairs that are important to the authorities.展开更多

Both zero-range and finite-range exchange parts of NN interactions are considered in the folding procedure. In this paper the spherical projectile-spherical target system 16O+^2008Pb is selected for calculating the barrier energies, fusion cross sections and barrier distributions with the density-independent and density-dependent NN interactions on the basis of M3Y-Reid and M3Y Paris NN interactions. The barrier energies become lower for Paris NN interactions in comparison with Reid NN interactions, and also for finite-range exchange part in comparison with zero-range exchange part. The density-dependent NN interactions give similar fusion cross sections and barrier distributions, and the density-independent NN interaction causes the barrier distribution moving to a higher position. However, the density-independent Reid NN interaction with zero-range exchange part gives the lowest fusion cross sections. We find that the calculated fusion cross sections and the barrier distributions are in agreement with the experimental data after renormalization of the nuclear potential due to coupled-channel effect.展开更多

Before the first democratic elections in 1994, people of different cultures found it difficult to interact because of legislated racial segregation, which made it difficult for blacks to mix with whites in almost all spheres of life. The only place interaction could take place was in the workplace. As a result, children from different cultural groups had few opportunities to interact. This made it impossible for South African children to learn about the cultures of other racial groups. With the introduction of a democratic government, all segregation laws were relaxed and people mixed freely in all spheres of life. Intercultural communication became commonplace. This new scenario presented a challenge to many South African children, but despite the limits imposed before 1994, children from all racial groups associated successfully. Their ability to cope with this situation with so much more ease than adults was remarkable. This paper seeks to highlight the communication skills used by South African children from all cultural backgrounds to achieve intercultural competence in a relatively short space of time. The paper will further reflect on the impact made on African children by intercultural interaction and competence.展开更多

This is the main question we will try to answer in the present article. From two different methods: the participant observation and sound recording of communicative interactions, the study has addressed the fundamental issues related to the problems of communication with the other in an intercultural professional environment. The conclusions drawn from the analysis of the data suggest some pedagogical readjustments to improve the teaching of intercultural communication in the ENCGA,展开更多

This is a convenient technique which can provide users more experience. In the article, a new way of detecting moving things is given on the basis of development of the image processing technique. The system architecture decides that the communication should be used between two different applications. After considered, named pipe is selected from many ways of communication to make sure that video is keeping in step with the movement from the analysis of the people moving. According to a large amount of data and principal knowledge, thinking of the need of actual project, a detailed system design and realization is finished. The system consists of three important modules: detecting of the people's movement, information transition between applications and video showing in step with people's movement. The article introduces the idea of each module and technique.展开更多

In science communication people, for example, experts or scientists attempt to persuade lay people about the validity of their assessments. Currently dialogue in science communication might be seen as an important way to deliver information about sciences to the public as previously communicating science was conducted through top-down approaches. In addition, currently there is a tendency that people prefer to deliver and to receive information about sciences through two-way communication models between two or more parties, face-to-face or mediated by any means of communication as this way of communication is seen as more interactive. In the context of Indonesia, in terms of social science communication, this is an important phenomenon to investigate as two-way communication models might bridge the gap between expert opinion and lay opinion, where lay opinion is often seen as irrational or emotional. However, there are still a small number of studies with regard to how social sciences are communicated to the public and in what ways people preferred to deliver, moreover to discuss information within social sciences. One of the potential reasons is that research on science communication is mainly focused on natural and physical sciences. Since the study in this paper focuses on dialogic interactions in social science communication, this study will contribute to the current discussions of mass communication, in terms of science communication, and to related fields.展开更多

The data were based on video-recordings of the call-in program broadcast daily on Hakka channel in Taiwan, in which callers call to seek advice on health problems. The discourse analysis shows that callers' "multi-unit reason-for-the-call turns" can be classified into three forms including request, epistemic frame and descriptions of symptoms, and telling of lifestyle. The visual analysis demonstrates that the visual shots of "multi-unit reason-for-the-call turns" orient viewers to the studio scene in which the invited guest, usually the medical doctor, can be seen listening to callers' upcoming questions. Based on the analyses and an interview with the camera director of this television program, the discussion sheds light on how television production practices use callers' multi-unit turns as a resource for switching to the studio shot, which helps to build an image of the expert and his/her role and function in the advice-seeking program. In this sense, filming and television production practices rely on linguistic resources and the visualization of callers' multi-unit turns has meanings in the organization of studio interaction as "institutional interaction" (Drew & Heritage, 1992), being shaped by interactants' identities, roles, and tasks relevant for the specific institutional needs or purposes.展开更多

The paper will further reflect on the impact made on African children by intercultural interaction and competence.
文摘What are the main difficulties in intercultural communication encountered by the students of the National School of Business and Management of Agadir (ENCGA)/Morocco during their interaction with French native managers in Moroccan companies? This is the main question we will try to answer in the present article. From two different methods: the participant observation and sound recording of communicative interactions, the study has addressed the fundamental issues related to the problems of communication with the other in an intercultural professional environment. The conclusions drawn from the analysis of the data suggest some pedagogical readjustments to improve the teaching of intercultural communication in the ENCGA,
文摘Based on the traditional Human-Computer Interaction method which is mainly touch input system, the way of capturing the movement of people by using cameras is proposed. The article introduces the idea of each module and technique.
文摘The study in this paper that draws on dialogic interaction is a focus of investigation as the way to communicate social sciences to the public. Since the study in this paper focuses on dialogic interactions in social science communication, this study will contribute to the current discussions of mass communication, in terms of science communication, and to related fields.
文摘This study describes discursive and visual features of telephone openings to a live broadcast television call-in program based on the analysis of the "multi-unit reason-for-the-call turn" (Couper-Kuhlen, 2001). In this sense, filming and television production practices rely on linguistic resources and the visualization of callers' multi-unit turns has meanings in the organization of studio interaction as "institutional interaction" (Drew & Heritage, 1992), being shaped by interactants' identities, roles, and tasks relevant for the specific institutional needs or purposes.
文摘At present,doctor-patient relationship has become a sensitive topic in society, and frequent doctor-patient communication problems have become an important factor affecting the tension of the relationship. From the perspective of communication, this paper analyzes the causes of doctor-patient communication barriers based on the communication mode of interaction process proposed by Deffler and puts forward relevant solutions.
文摘Aim: To examine the experiences of health care professional (HCP)-patient interactions in Multiple Sclerosis (MS), identifying factors that can influence these interactions. Methods: A three-stage systematic review and thematic synthesis of qualitative and quantitative research was undertaken. Stage 1: the systematic literature search;Stage 2: methodological appraisal of the qualitative papers;Stage 3: thematic synthesis of all qualitative papers and the integration of quantitative findings into the synthesis. Results: Forty-nine qualitative studies were identified. This included 1014 individuals with MS (244 male, 755 female and 15 unknown) and 106 carers and 86 HCPs. Seventeen quantitative studies were identified which included 7680 (2008 male, 5812 females, and 40 unknown) participants as well as 224 carers. Two themes are discussed: 1) The expectations, experiences and perceptions of interactions with HCPs, and 2) The factors that influenced interactions and relationships. Discussion: There is need for improvement in the content and provision of information to patients with MS from HCPs. Specific strategies are suggested and implications for patients and health care providers are considered.

文摘Human posture estimation is a prominent research topic in the fields of human-com-puter interaction, motion recognition, and other intelligent applications. However, achieving highaccuracy in key point localization, which is crucial for intelligent applications, contradicts the lowdetection accuracy of human posture detection models in practical scenarios. To address this issue,a human pose estimation network called AT-HRNet has been proposed, which combines convolu-tional self-attention and cross-dimensional feature transformation.AT-HRNet captures significantfeature information from various regions in an adaptive manner, aggregating them through convolu-tional operations within the local receptive domain. The residual structures TripNeck and Trip-Block of the high-resolution network are designed to further refine the key point locations, wherethe attention weight is adjusted by a cross-dimensional interaction to obtain more features. To vali-date the effectiveness of this network,AT-HRNet was evaluated using the COCO2017 dataset.Theresults show that AT-HRNet outperforms HRNet by improving 3.2%in mAP,4.0%in AP75,and3.9%in AP^(M).This suggests that AT-HRNet can offer more beneficial solutions for human posture estimation.
