Outcomes of these interactions determine the efficiency of viral infection and subsequent disease progression. HIV- infected cells respond to viral invasion with various defensive strategies such as innate, cellular and humoral immune antiviral mechanisms. On the other hand, the virus has also developed various offensive tactics to suppress these host cellular responses. Among many of the viral offensive strategies, HIV-1 viral auxiliary proteins (Tat, Rev, Nef, Vif, Vpr and Vpu) play important roles in the host-pathogen interaction and thus have significant impacts on the outcome of HIV infection. One of the best examples is the interaction of Vif with a host cytidine deaminase APOBEC3G. Although specific roles of other auxiliary proteins are not as well described as Vif-APOBEC3G interaction, it is the goal of this brief review to summarize some of the preliminary findings with the hope to stimulate further discussion and investiga- tion in this exhilarating area of research.展开更多

In this paper, the outer and inner coupting matrices are assumed to be unknown and need to be identified. A corresponding network estimator is designed for identifying the unknown interactions by adopting proper adaptive laws. Based on the Lyapunov function method and Barbalat's lemma, the obtained result is analytically proved. A colored network coupled with chaotic Lorenz, Chen, and Lii systems is considered as a numerical example to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.展开更多

The forward and backward smoothing based on auxiliary vectors which are received data on some specific elements is computed. By the spatial smoothing with auxiliary vectors, the correlated signals are decorrelated, and the colored noise is partially alleviated. The correlation matrix formed from the cross correlations between subarray data and auxiliary vectors is computed. By exploring the second-order statistics property of the covariance matrix, a threshold based on Gerschgorin radii of the smoothing correlation matrix is set to estimate the number of sources. Simulations and experimental results validate that MTDSS has an effective performance under the condition of the colored noise background and coherent sources, and MTDSS is robust with the correlated factor of signals and noise.展开更多

Com- paring the two-color laser scheme, of which the uncommon frequency ratio should be set to be a specific value, we show that by using multi-color harmonic laser pulses as the first pump component, the lasers as the second pump component can be adjusted in a continuous frequency range. Moreover, these multi-color laser pulses can effectively modulate and enhance the terahertz radiation, and the terahertz yield increases with the increase of the wavelength of the uncommon pump com- ponent and is stable to the laser relative phase. Finally, we utilize the electron densities and velocities of ionization events to illustrate the physical mechanism of the intense terahertz generation.展开更多

The modeling built by double color space instead of only one is compatible both in YCbCr and HSV color space to training the Gaussian model which can update the threshold value for binarization. Finally, this paper designed a natural gesture recognition and interactive systems based on the double color space model. It has shown that the system has a good interactive experience in different environments.展开更多

The results show that the Gs-Hs (the coupling constant of scalar (q^-q)2-scalar (qq)2 channel) phase diagrams will be qualitatively consistent with the case of Nc = 3 as Nc varies in 4D Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model and 219 Gross Neveu (GN) model, However, in 3D GN model, the behavior of the Gs-Hp (the coupling constant of pseudoscalar (qq)^2 channel) phase diagram will obviously depend on No. The known characteristic that a 3D GN model does not have the coexistence phase of the condensates (q^-q) and (qq) is proven to appear only in the case of Nc ≤ 4. In all the models, the regions occupied by the phases containing the diquark condensates (qq) in corresponding phase diagrams will gradually decrease as Nc grows up and finally go to zero if Nc → ∞, i.e. in this limit only the pure (q^-q) phase could exist.展开更多

In this paper, a simple yet effective approach for detecting and locating human faces in color images is proposed. The contribution of this paper is twofold. First, a particular reference to face detection techniques along with a background to neural networks is given. Second, and maybe most importantly, an adaptive cubic-spline neural network is designed to be used to detect and locate human faces in uncontrolled environments. The experimental results conducted on our test set show the effectiveness of the proposed approach and it can compare favorably with other state-of-the-art approaches in the literature.展开更多

In this work, we theoretically investigate the effect of the two-color laser wavelength on the terahertz generation in the air based on a transient photocurrent model. We show that the long wavelength laser excitation can greatly enhance the terahertz amplitude for a given total laser intensity. Furthermore, we utilize a local current model to illustrate the enhancement mechanism. Our analysis shows that the terahertz amplitude is determined by the superposition of contributions from individual ionization events, and for the long wavelength laser excitation, the electron production concentrates in a few ionization events and acquires the larger drift velocities, which results in the stronger terahertz radiation generation. These results will be very helpful for understanding the terahertz generation process and optimizing the terahertz output.展开更多
