However, due to the difficulty in extracting the internal balance modal coordinates from the physical sensor readings, research on this topic has been mostly theoretical so far, and little has been done in experiments or engineering applications. This paper studies the internal balance method theoretically as well as experimentally and designs an active controller based on the reduction model. The research works on a digital signal processor （DSP） TMS320F2812- based experiment system with a flexible beam and proposes an approximate approach to access the internal balance modal coordinates. The simulation and test results have shown that the proposed approach is feasible and effective, and the designed controller is successful in restraining the beam vibration.展开更多

The analysis in the paper shows that the cut of US fiscal deficits and the appreciation of the currencies of East Asia, including China＇s RMB, are necessary for a smooth adjustment of the global imbalances. The adjustments will have a positive impact on China＇s economy and will help China realize its external balance. The increase in public spending on the service sector along with the appreciation of RMB will help China realize the internal balance too. The adjustment of the global imbalances will create opportunities and an external pushing force for China in its industrial restructuring and shift in the model of economic growth.展开更多
A dynamic two-zone model is proposed to address the formation of granulation and drying zones in fluidized bed layering granulation processes with internal product classification. The model assumes a constant volume f...A dynamic two-zone model is proposed to address the formation of granulation and drying zones in fluidized bed layering granulation processes with internal product classification. The model assumes a constant volume for the granulation zone, but a variable overall volume for the fluidized bed to account for classified product removal. The model is used to study the effect of various process parameters on dynamics and process stability. Stability is shown to depend on the separation diameter of product removal and the flow rate of the injected liquid. A lower and upper range of separation diameters with stable process behavior are found. In an intermediate range instability in the form of self-sustained oscillations is observed. The lower stability boundary is in qualitative agreement with recent experimental observations （Schmidt, Bück, ＆ Tsotsas, 2015）; the upper boundary was reported in a theoretical paper by Vreman, Van Lare, and Hounslow （2009） based on a single zone model.展开更多

Simulation and test results have proven the proposed approximating approach feasible and effective, and the designed controller successful in restraining the plate vibration.展开更多
