Experiments were carried out in the presence and absence of a mixed culture of moderately thermophile microorganisms at 50?C. Chemical leaching experiments were performed in the absence and presence of 0.15 M iron (ferric added medium, ferrous added medium and a mixture medium regulated at 420 mV, Pt. vs. Ag/AgCl). In addition, bioleaching experiments were carried out in the presence and absence of 0.1 M iron (ferric and ferrous added mediua) at pulp density 10% (w/v), inoculated bacteria 20% (v/v), initial pH 1.6, nutrient medium Norris and yeast extract addition 0.02% (w/w). Abiotic leaching tests showed that the addition of iron at low solution redox potentials significantly increased the rate and extent of copper dissolution but when ferric iron was added, despite a higher initial rate of copper dissolution, leaching process stopped. Addition of both ferrous and ferric iron to the bioleaching medium levelled off the copper extraction and had an inhibitory effect which decreased the final redox potential. The monitoring of ferrous iron, ferric iron and copper extraction in leach solutions gave helpful results to understand the behaviour of iron cations during chemical and bacterial leaching processes.展开更多

The effect of LaCl 3 on the activity of redox system of plasma membrane has been studied. The reduction rate of Fe(CN) 3- 6 and the oxidation rate of NADH in plasma membrane are stimulated below the concentration of 40 μmol·L -1 , but depressed in pace with the increasing of LaCl 3 over the concentration of 40 μmol·L -1 . The possible effect of LaCl 3 on the uptake of Fe element by rice seedling was also discussed.展开更多

The samples were analysed for pH, electrical conductivity (EC), redox potential (ORP) and temperature (T). The dominant Fe species was determined using a UV-VIS spectrophotometer. Selected anions namely: halogens (F-, Br-, Cl-), the nutrients (NO2-,NO3-,PO43-) and the best indicator for AMD pollution (SO42-) were analysed using Ion Chromatography (IC) while the selected heavy metals, namely: Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Co, Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd were analysed using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS). The physico-chemical parameters ranges obtained were pH (6.32 - 8.63), EC (11.00 - 585.33 μS/cm), ORP (-93.67 - 79.33 mV) and T (7.60°C - 18.57°C). The levels of the Fe species (ppm) in the water samples were Fe2+ (0.56 - 3.17) and Fe3+ (0.00 - 0.73). Measured mean anion ranges in ppm were F- (0.00 - 0.15), Cl- (1.5 - 11.19),展开更多
