Metallurgical coatings of iron-based alloy with RE oxide were prepared on low-carbon steel using a home-made DC-plasma jet surface metallurgy equipment. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) microanalysis and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) were employed to observe the microstructure and analyze the chemical compositions of coatings. And the cracking susceptibility of coatings was studied in terms of RE addition. Experimental results show that addition of RE oxide (La_2O_3 and CeO_2) can refine and purify the microstructure, and can reduce the cracking susceptibility of coatings. 展开更多

Non-thermal plasma surface modification for epoxy resin(EP)to improve the insulation properties has wide application prospects in gas insulated switchgear and gas insulatedtransmission line.In this paper,a pulsed Ar dual dielectrics atmospheric-pressure plasma jet(APPJ)was used for Si CxHyOzthin film deposition on EP samples.The film deposition was optimized by varying the treatment time while other parameters were kept at constants(treatment distance:10 mm,precursor flow rate:0.6 l min-(-1),maximum instantaneous power:3.08 k W and single pulse energy:0.18 m J).It was found that the maximum value of flashover voltages for negative and positive voltage were improved by 18%and 13%when the deposition time was3 min,respectively.The flashover voltage reduced as treatment time increased.Moreover,all the surface conductivity,surface charge dissipation rate and surface trap level distribution reached an optimal value when thin film deposition time was 3 min.Other measurements,such as atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscope for EP surface morphology,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy for EP surface compositions,optical emission spectra for APPJ deposition process were carried out to better understand the deposition processes and mechanisms.The results indicated that the original organic groups(C–H,C–C,C=O,C=C)were gradually replaced by the Si containing inorganic groups(Si–O–Si and Si–OH).The reduction of C=O in ester group and C=C in p-substituted benzene of the EP samples might be responsible for shallowing the trap level and then enhancing the flashover voltage.However,when the plasma treatment time was longer than 3 min,the significant increase of the surface roughness might increase the trap level depth and then deteriorate the flashover performance. 展开更多

Removal of brittle materials in the brittle or ductile mode inevitably causes damaged or strained surface layers containing cracks, scratches or dislocations. Within elastic deformation, the arrangement of each atom can be recovered back to its original position without any defects introduced. Based on surface hydroxylation and chemisorption theory, material removal mechanism of quartz glass in the elastic mode is analyzed to obtain defect-free surface. Elastic contact condition between nanoparticle and quartz glass surface is confirmed from the Hertz contact theory model. Atoms on the quartz glass surface are removed by chemical bond generated by impact reaction in the elastic mode, so no defects are generated without mechanical process. Experiment was conducted on a numerically controlled system for nanoparticle jet polishing, and one flat quartz glass was polished in the elastic mode. Results show that scratches on the sample surface are completely removed away with no mechanical defects introduced, and microroughness(Ra) is decreased from 1.23 nm to 0.47 nm. Functional group Ce — O — Si on ceria nanoparticles after polishing was detected directly and indirectly by FTIR, XRD and XPS spectra analysis from which the chemical impact reaction is validated. 展开更多

This paper is aimed to show the influence of initial chemical pretreatment prior to subsequent plasma activation of aluminum surfaces.The results of our study showed that the state of the topmost surface layer(i.e.the surface morphology and chemical groups)of plasma modified aluminum significantly depends on the chemical precleaning.Commonly used chemicals(isopropanol,trichlorethane,solution of Na OH in deionized water)were used as precleaning agents.The plasma treatments were done using a radio frequency driven atmospheric pressure plasma pencil developed at Masaryk University,which operates in Ar,Ar/O_2 gas mixtures.The effectiveness of the plasma treatment was estimated by the wettability measurements,showing high wettability improvement already after 0.3 s treatment.The effects of surface cleaning(hydrocarbon removal),surface oxidation and activation(generation of OH groups)were estimated using infrared spectroscopy.The changes in the surface morphology were measured using scanning electron microscopy.Optical emission spectroscopy measurements in the near-to-surface region with temperature calculations showed that plasma itself depends on the sample precleaning procedure. 展开更多

A three-dimensional mathematical model for calculating the steady flow of circular non-buoyant turbulent surface in a coflowing channel is presented in this paper. For closing the control equations, the k turbulence model is used in the mathematical model. The wall-function method is employed to treat the wall boundary condition at the bottom plane. The closed control equations are discretized by using Hybrid Finite Analytic Method (HFAM) on a non-uniform staggered grid system. The numerical results are obtained for different ratio of the jet velocity to the coflowing velocity. The comparison with experimental data shows good agreement. 展开更多

As a part of boundaries for a free curved surface of a Pelton bucket,the cutout is indispensable to secure the smooth entrance of the unsteady inflow of water jet into the rotating bucket.The cutout of the rotating bucket unsteadily separates a free jet into two branches in both space and time:the impinging branch landing on the relevant bucket surface,and the flow-off branch separated by the cutout toward the preceding bucket.In order to investigate the unsteady jet separation by the cutout three-dimensionally,a semicircular free jet was discretized into 641 nodes of boundary-fitted grids.The position P of impinging jet branch landing on the bucket surface was acquired with the relative velocity W and the water depth D at each node.The trailing edge surface of the flow-off jet branch was simultaneously computed unsteadily.The complicate unsteady interaction of the bucket cutout with the branched free jets was clarified visually with the 3D view of illustrations in order to research the unsteady hydraulic performance of Pelton turbines in space and time. 展开更多

Stratospheric Precursor of Non-Uniform Variation in Early Spring Surface Temperature over Eurasia 被引量:1

The stratospheric influences on the non-uniform variation in early spring(March–April,MA)surface temperature over Eurasia is investigated based on the ERA-Interim,NCEP-1,and NCEP-2 reanalysis data for the period1980–2016.A lead–lag correlation is found between preceding winter(December–February,DJF)stratospheric polar vortex displacements(SPVD)and the MA west–east seesaw pattern in surface temperature over Eurasia.Further analysis reveals that the East Asian jet stream may act as a bridge linking DJF SPVD and MA surface temperature over Eurasia.A positive change in SPVD is associated with a decelerated polar jet stream and an accelerated East Asian jet stream in the troposphere in DJF.The East Asian jet stream signal can persist into MA.As a result,anomalous southerly/northerly winds prevail over western/eastern Eurasia,accounting for the west–east surface temperature seesaw over Eurasia. 展开更多
