Although the university-industry collaborations have been mainly conducted by large companies in Japan so far, the small-medium companies rather than large companies are accumulated in regional areas. However, there are a lot of problems in the university-industry collaborations of the small-medium companies. In this paper, the collaborations between small-medium companies and universities are analyzed based on joint research projects. The results show that the joint research projects of small-medium companies for collaboration partners are not conducted enough. Moreover, the results also show that the average budget per project of small-medium companies is low according to the detailed data of Niigata University. The active area of company and university in research and development is discussed. The stage map that proceeds to commercialization for the collaborations between small-medium companies and universities is made and discussed. Based on these results, the problems of the university-industry collaborations of small-medium companies for collaboration partners are extracted.展开更多

According to the research, the population of Baiji dolphins has been decreasing rapidly from 300 in 1986 to less than 100 at present due to environmental deterioration of the Yangtze River. Since it is impossible to conserve the species in the river, as many as possible of the dolphins should be collected and transferred展开更多

In order to enrich coalbed methane (CBM) and shale gas geological theory and promote their development process, this paper compared shale gas with CBM in accumulation, distribution, reservoir and production. It expatiated on the background and significance of the combined research and development, and analyzed the geological foundation and future prospects. Our investigation demonstrated that there are many sets of coal-bearing strata in Shanxi formation of Permian system in Ordos in North China, Longtan formation of Upper Permian and Xujiahe formation of Upper Triassic in Southern Yangtze region, Xishanyao formation of Middle Jurassic in Turpan-Hami Basin and Junggar Basin in Northwest China, and Shahezi formation of Cretaceous in Songliao Basin in northeast China. In these regions, shales which are interbeded with coal seams have the characters of big thickness, continuous distribution, high content of organic matter, good parent material and high maturity, accord with the basic geological conditions to format shale gas and CBM reservoir and composite gas reservoir, thus form appropriate regions and layers to carry out joint research and exploration with good prospects for development.展开更多

Thus, both countries urgently need to transform conventional internal combustion engines to electrified powertrains. Targeting the advanced core technologies of plug-in electric vehicles(PEVs), a joint research collaboration between China and the US, called the "Clean Vehicle Consortium"(CVC), was set up in 2010. Six years of collaboration on PEV technologies has resulted in significant progress in three technical areas. Based on CVC publications,we review herein the progress made by the CVC research efforts on three key advanced PEV technologies. This includes the development of a safe battery with an energy density of 260 W h kg^(-1) and a systematic method for designing safe traction battery systems. Thus, a breakthrough in high power density and efficient traction motor systems has occurred. In addition to discussing advanced electric-drive powertrains, we also discuss global energy management strategies that aim to improve PEV energy efficiency. This discussion covers scientific and comprehensive analysis methods to analyze energy systems, which include costbenefit analyses of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, life-cycle assessments for evaluating vehicle emissions, and PEV-ownership projections.展开更多
