Art of Nourishing Life According to the Kidney Meridian in Zhenjiu Dacheng(The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion)

“Daoyin Benjing”(Art of Nourishing Life)discusses the kidney meridian in depth.It is a dense and heterogeneous text that is heavily influenced by Daoism.The text proposes rules for the maintenance of life using language that is often cryptic and under-standable only to the initiated.This language is closely interwoven with the classical terms of traditional Chinese medicine.The kidney is the home of vital energy,which is a type of sexual energy and the root of life.Engagement in moderate sexual activity nourishes life and leads to a long life.This is the goal of every Daoist follower and the goal of every doctor.

Premature ovarian insufficiency identified as a kidney deficiency and liver constraint pattern treated by Professor Zhiqiang Guo:A retrospective analysis

Objective:To study the efficacy of Professor Zhiqiang Guo's unique sequential herbal therapy in the treatment of premature ovarian insufficiency(POI)of the kidney deficiency and liver constraint pattern.Methods:Ninety patients with POI who consulted with Professor Guo at Dongzimen Hospital,Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from January 2012 to December 2015 were enrolled.Treatment consisted of sequential therapy using traditional Chinese medicine formulae with the actions of nourishing the liver and kidney.Course of treatment was 3 consecutive menstrual cycles for each participant except for those who became pregnant during treatment.Baseline data including age,course of disease,past medical history,lifestyle,pregnancy outcome,menstrual status(cycle length,menstrual flow duration and volume),as well as gonadal hormone levels before and after treatment were recorded and analyzed.Results:During treatment,18(20.0%)participants became pregnant.Symptoms including scanty menstrual flow,irritability,low libido,insomnia and excessive dreaming at night,nightsweats,hot flashes,and depression were markedly alleviated.Changes in follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH)and luteinizing hormone(LH)levels at early follicular stage were observed(P=.009 and P=.002,respectively),and FSH/LH differed significantly pre-and posttreatment(P=.0.44).Conclusion:Professor Guo's sequential Chinese herbal therapy with the actions of nourishing the liver and kidney to treat POI can enhance ovarian function,promote pregnancy,and improve quality of life.

Meta-analysis of the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by tonifying lung and kidney

Objective:To A randomized controlled trial(RCTS)of lung tonifying and kidney tonifying in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(copd)by meta-analysis.Methods:Computer retrieval of databases such as CNKI、VIP、WanFang、Cochrane Library、EMbase、PubMed.The retrieval time was from the database construction to March 2020,and two evaluators were selected to screen the documents according to the na sorting standards,extract the data with Excel 2010 software,and perform Meta analysis with Rev Man5.3 software.Results:21 RCTS were included.Meta-analysis results show that compared with the conventional treatment,the method of supplementing lung and tonifying kidney can obviously improve lung function(MD=1.69,95%CI[1.36,2.01],P<0.00001)、reduce TCM syndrome score(MD=39.83,95%CI[18.10,61.56],P=0.0003)、improve life quality(MD=-5.90,95%CI[-8.95,-2.85],P=0.0001)、regulates serum immunoglobulin(MD=0.37,95%CI[0.31,0.44],P<0.00001)、improve 6MWD(MD=39.83,95%CI[18.10,61.56],P=0.0003)、improve CAT(MD=-1.68,95%CI[-2.05,-1.30],P<0.00001).The differences were statistically significant.For improved T lymphocyte subsets(MD=0.96,95%CI[-0.10,2.03],P=0.08)not statistically significant.Conclusion:Lung-tonifying kidney-tonifying method had better efficacy in improving lung function,reducing TCM syndrome score,improving quality of life,improving immunoglobulin,improving 6WMD,improving CAT,but the efficacy in improving t-lymphocyte subgroup was similar to that in the control group.Due to the limited quantity and quality of samples included in this paper,more multicenter randomized controlled trials with rigorous design of large samples should be carried out for verification.

疏肝滋肾汤治疗膝骨关节炎临床研究

目的:研究疏肝滋肾汤治疗膝骨关节炎的临床疗效。方法:80例患者随机分为2组,治疗组40例患者予疏肝滋肾汤,每次300 m L,早晚各1次;对照组40例给予非甾体抗炎药(NSAIDS)美洛昔康口服,1粒/次,1次/日,连服2月,应用WOMAC积分表、膝关节X线评价,对比治疗前后、随访6月指标变化。结果:治疗组与对照组总有效率分别为90.0%、77.5%(P<0.05);2组WOMAC评价积分均下降,但治疗组效果明显优于对照组;2组膝关节X线评分均下降,治疗组优于对照组,差异有显著性。结论:疏肝滋肾汤治疗膝骨关节炎疗效确切,能有效缓解膝骨关节炎症状,且副作用少,安全可靠。

Chief Physician Defen Wang’s Clinical Experience in Dialectical Treatment with Mediation Method of Perimenopausal Sweating

The objective of this paper is to outline Chief Physician Defen Wang’s clinical experience in perimenopausal sweating syndrome differentiation and treatment,to inherit Mr.Gao’s academic concept of mediation technique,and to integrate multiple prescriptions under Mr.Gao’s thinking.The deficiency is based on the deficiency of liver and kidney Yin,the weakness of spleen and stomach,and the standard is the imbalance of Ying and Wei,the imbalance of Qi,blood and body fluid,and the main method of treatment is nourishing liver and kidney,soothing liver and invigorating spleen,regulating Ying and Wei,as well as tonifying Qi and absorbing fluid.

Efficacy and advantages of modified Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments based on"kidney reinforcing"for chronic aplastic ane-mia:a randomized controlled clinical trial

OBJECTIVE:To compare the efficacy of modified treatments based on "kidney reinforcing" in the management of chronic aplastic anemia(CAA),and explore their advantages and specialties.METHODS:One hundred and eleven patients with CAA were randomly divided into three groups:kidney reinforcing alone(KA),"kidney reinforcing and Qi tonifying"(KQ),and "kidney reinforcing and blood circulation invigorating"(KC).Normal and positive control groups were also formed.All patients were treated for 6 months(two courses).Hemograms,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) syndrome scores,and therapeutic effects were assessed,and changes in T-lymphocyte subsets,regulatory T cells and cytokines were detected.RESULTS:The KQ and KC groups had lower TCM syndrome scores than the positive control group after 6 months(P < 0.05).The KQ group had a higher overall efficacy than the positive control group after 3 months(P < 0.05),while platelet counts increased in the KC group after 6 months(P < 0.05).CD3+ T-lymphocyte ratios decreased only in the KQ group,while CD3 + CD4 + CD8-Tlymphocytes increased only in the KC group after 6 months(P <0.05).Levels of interferon-γ,tumor necrosis fac-tor-α,interleukin(IL)-2 and IL-6 decreased and levels of IL-4 and IL-10 increased in all treated groups after 6 months.Levels of IL-6 in the KQ and KC groups were lower than those in the positive control group(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:Treatments based on kidney reinforcing have a rebalancing effect on cytotoxic and T helper cells,and regulate expression of interferon-γ,IL-2,IL-6 and IL-4.KQ may be more effective in treating CAA,and KC may have an advantage in platelet recovery.

Combined acupuncture and Chinese herb decoction for 5 cases with graphospasm

Combined acupuncture and Chinese herb decoction were applied for 5 cases with graphospasm.Acupuncture included scalp acupuncture and body acupuncture.Using transcranial repeated needling,Baihui(百会GV20),Chorea-trembling controlled area,Emotional area,as well as Dazhui(大椎GV14),Fengchi(风池GB20),and Yingxiang(迎香EX-HN8)etc.were stimulated by proposed by Sun Shentian.Meanwhile,the patients took orally Chinese herb decoction,on the basis of the Siwu decoction(四物汤four substances decoction)addition and subtraction,relieve symptoms under syndrome differentiation.The treatment was carried out for 4 courses in total.One course consisted of 5 days,with an interval of 2 days between two courses.After treatment of 5 patients,2 patients were cured,2 patients achieved markedly effective response,and 1 patient achieved effective response.

Treatment of Immunological Infertility with Chinese Medicinal Herbs of Ziyin Jianghuo（滋阴降火）

According to the microcosmic Syndrome Differentiation, immunological infertility is recog-nised as Kidney Yin Deficiency-Hyperactivity of Fire Syndrome. Zhibai Dihuang Pills(知柏地黄丸) , a recipeof Chinese medicinal herbs which plays a nourishing Yin to rernove Fire action, was used to treat the infertilecouples with antisperm and/or antizona pellucida antibodies in their blood serum. It was found that after thetreatment, the antibodies were converted to negativeness in 81.3 % of 32 immunological intertile couples. All8 cases of successful pregnancy occurred in 1-9 months after negative conversion of the antibodies and thenegative status was maintained throughout the course of pregnancy.
