Lubei Ecological Industry Project:A Case Study in China

Lubei General Company of Enterprise Group, Shangdong Province, set up joint enterprises industrial ecosystem by sharing resources, symbiosis industry and compact structure. As an ecological industry park, the industrial ecosystem has been operated successfully with rich experiment and has become one of ecological industry examples in the world. Based on the case study of Lubei ecological industry project, components of industrial chains, matter recycle and conversion, energy cycle and multilevel utilization, systematic structure and impact factor identification are analyzed and summarized in this paper. The possible extension and development of Lubei ecological industry project in future is brought forward as well.

Safety Risk Analysis of Large⁃scale Complex Project based on WBS⁃RBS and Interval Numbers

Safety risks are essential to the success or failure of the large⁃scale complex projects.In order to assess and evaluate the safety risks of the large⁃scale complex projects scientifically,a risk assessment method of work breakdown structure and risk breakdown structure(WBS⁃RBS)is proposed to identify the project risks.In this paper,interval numbers are used to evaluate the risk levels,weights are assigned automatically based on the complexity and risk degree of WBS to distinguish three types of nodes in WBS,and a risk assessment algorithm is designed to assess safety risk at all layers of the project.A case study is conducted to demonstrate how to apply the method.The results show the practicality,robustness and efficiency of our new method,which can be applied to different kinds of large⁃scale complex projects in reality.

Research on Supplier Relationship Management of the Main Manufacturer of Large Aircraft Project:A Psychological Contract Perspective

The main manufacturer and its suppliers＇ relationship management is very important for success of the large aircraft project. The study concentrates on analysis of the relationship management on a psychological con- tract perspective, shows that constructing good psychological contract is useful to promote mutual trust, reduce the transaction cost caused by incompleteness of formal contract, avoid the risk of supplier management between the main manufacturer and suppliers of the large aircraft project. And with further understanding of the dynamic contracting process as well as formation framework of psychological contract between the main manufacturer and suppliers, we can better understand the relationship black-box and provide a new perspective for the study of the relationship management, then given some constructive suggestions to supplier relationship management.

Research on Safety Risk Assessment Method for Large Scale Field Operation Project

By applying man-machine-environment system engineering theory, safety risks on large scale field operation project have been evaluated in this article. The factors concerning with the man, machine and environment in system were proposed separately. The value for lowest indexs was determined by decision-making of expert group. The weights were calculated based on AHP, and then safety risk assessment in different layers was made. The results show that the assessment method is reasonable, and it is significant for large scale field operation project safety managerment.

Perception-Based Assessment of the Factors Causing Delays in Construction Projects

Construction delay is a widespread issue in the construction industry of developing countries, and Nepal is no exception. These delays extend project durations and lead to cost overruns and disputes among stakeholders. To address this problem, this study aimed to identify and analyze the significant factors that contribute to construction project delays in Nepal. To gather data, a well-structured questionnaire was developed and administered to a sample of 100 participants, including contractors, consultants, and civil engineers. Various statistical tests were conducted to ensure the data’s integrity and consistency, such as reliability assessments and factor analyses. The findings of the study highlighted multiple factors contributing to delays in construction projects such as inadequate design, poor communication, and coordination among stakeholders, insufficient experience and planning by contractors, delays in material delivery and testing, labor-related problems including shortages and low qualifications, and external factors like regulatory changes and unforeseen circumstances. By identifying these major causes of construction project delays, this study presented insightful information that can contribute to the analysis and evaluation of project performance.

A SUBSPACE PROJECTED CONJUGATE GRADIENT ALGORITHM FOR LARGE BOUND CONSTRAINED QUADRATIC PROGRAMMING

A subspace projected conjugate gradient method is proposed for solving large bound constrained quadratic programming. The conjugate gradient method is used to update the variables with indices outside of the active set, while the projected gradient method is used to update the active variables. At every iterative level, the search direction consists of two parts, one of which is a subspace trumcated Newton direction, another is a modified gradient direction. With the projected search the algorithm is suitable to large problems. The convergence of the method is proved and same numerical tests with dimensions ranging from 5000 to 20000 are given.

Study on Factors Influencing the Reliability of the Organization Management Chain of the Large and Medium-Sized Project in the Construction Period

On the basis of analyzing the reliability of the organization’ management chain of the large and medium- sized project in the construction period, the paper studies the factors influencing the reliability of the organi-zation management chain, which, corresponding to four elements of management chain – “Management Loop”, “Management Link”, “Management Chain”, and “Management Network”, can be summarized as project main body, interface management, connection sequence and management model. The paper then re-searches on the specific influencing factors from the above-mentioned four aspects.

Large and Moderate Deviations for Projective Systems and Projective Limits

One of the active fields in applied probability, the last two decades, is that of large deviations theory i.e. the one dealing with the (asymptotic) computation of probabilities of rare events which are exponentially small as a function of some parameter e.g. the amplitude of the noise perturbing a dynamical system. Basic ideas of the theory can be tracked back to Laplace, the first rigorous results are due to Cramer although a clear definition was introduced by Varadhan in 1966. Large deviations estimates have been proved to be the crucial tool in studying problems in Statistics, Physics (Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics), Finance (Monte-Carlo methods, option pricing, long term portfolio investment) and in Applied probability (queuing theory). The aim of this work is to describe one of the (recent) methods of proving large deviations results, namely that of projective systems. We compare the method with the one of projective limits and show the advantages of the first. These advantages are due to the fact that: 1) the arguments are direct and the proofs of the basic results of the theory are much easier and simpler;2) we are able to extend most of these results using suitable projective systems. We apply the method in the case of a) sequences of i.i.d. r.v.’s and b) sequences of exchangeable r.v.’s. All the results are being proved in a simple “unified” way.

For the Greater Good?—A Critical Reflection on Assessing Indirect Economic Effects Caused by Large Transport Projects

Investing in large transport projects affects the (potential) economic development of metropolitan areas. Yet, very little critical research has been performed to understand how to assess these effects. The relationship between infrastructure investments and regional economic development is complex and indirect, and many theoretical and methodological difficulties remain. On the one hand, the assumption that investing in infrastructure is important to sustain economic growth is sometimes doubted. On the other hand, it is argued that investments in infrastructure enhance the accessibility of urban regions and that in the slipstream of such investments, social problems in urban regions can be tackled as well. Despite these contrasting views, there is at least a consensus that transport infrastructure development depends on economic development and vice versa. Yet, in many cases, the method of assessing economic impacts highly affects the results. Therefore, this paper focuses on a critical reflection of methods for estimating economic effects of infrastructure investments. A critical evaluation is made based on Indonesian and Japanese cases. After conducting in-depth desk research on both cases, we found that the broader effects on affected group of people tend to be overlooked due to the problems of time and space dimensions, the chain reaction of effects, and inappropriate data practices. The assessment on the appraisal processes tends to overlook the broader economic implication due to narrow focus and the concept of efficiency of economic theory.

Design of High Precision Horizontal Control Network for Large-Scale Hydropower Project

A new solution of combination network of GPS and high precise distance measurements with EDM is proposed. Meanwhile, it’s inadvisable only using GPS network without distance measurements. Three schemes: terrestrial network, GPS network and combination network are discussed for horizontal control network design of Xiangjiaba Dam in view of precision, reliability, coordinate and outlay in detail.
