A Novel Optical Control Plane for Switching an Electro-Optical Hybrid Node in Translucent WDM Optical Networks

In a translucent network scenario, development of an optical control plane (OCP) that is aware of the location and number of available regenerators and all-optical wavelength converters (AOWCs) is of paramount importance. However, current generalized multiprotocol label switching (GMPLS) protocol suite does not consider the distribution of regenerator and AOWC availability information to all the network nodes. In this paper, we propose a novel optical control plane (OCP) architecture that 1) disseminates information about network components (i.e. regenerators and AOWCs) to all the network nodes, and 2) evaluates candidate routes which use fewest amounts of network components. Performance of the proposed OCP is compared with a recently proposed hybrid OCP approach in terms of blocking performance, number of deployed components and lightpath establishment setup times. The obtained simulation results show that the proposed OCP approach demonstrates low connection blocking and establishes lightpaths by 1) minimizing the overall network cost owing to the deployment of minimum total number of network components, and 2) demonstrating acceptable lightpath establishment setup times at all traffic loads. Further, the proposed OCP methodology is compatible and suitable for controlling the operations of a novel electro-optical hybrid translucent node which is a latency efficient technology capable of delivering a cost effective implementation suitable for large scale deployment. 展开更多

Image compression consists in reducing information size representing an image. Elimination of redundancies and non-pertinent information enables memory space minimization and thus fast data transmission. Optics can offer an alternative choice to overcome the limitation of numerical compression algorithms. In this paper, we propose real-time optical image compression using a real Fourier plane to save time required for compression by using the principles of coherent optics. Digital and optical simulation results are presented and analyzed. An optical compression decompression setup is demonstrated using two different SLMs (SEIKO and DisplayTech). The purpose of this method is to simplify our earlier method, improve the quality of reconstructed image, and avoid the disadvantages of numerical algorithms. 展开更多

Strain effects on optical polarisation properties in (11■2) plane GaN films

We present the theoretical results of the electronic band structure of wurtzite GaN films under biaxial strains in the (11^-22)-plane. The calculations are performed by the k.p perturbation theory approach through using the effectivemass Hamiltonian for an arbitrary direction. The results show that the transition energies decrease with the biaxial strains changing from -0.5% to 0.5%. For films of (11^-22)-plane, the strains are expected to be anisotropic in the growth plane. Such anisotropic strains give rise to valence band mixing which results in dramatic change in optical polarisation property. The strain can also result in optical polarisation switching phenomena. Finally, we discuss the applications of these properties to the (1132) plane GaN-based light-emitting diode and lase diode. 展开更多

Aiming to solve the problem that it is difficult to accurately measure UV cut-off transmittance of xenon quartz glass by using present spectrophotometer in China SG III project. Through the analysis, we believe that its reason was that the xenon quartz glass was nonplanar so the outgoing beam geometry from under-test was different from that from standard sample. A method of transmittance measurement based on focal-plane-array camera was proposed in this article. The effects of camera uniformity and spot sampling on transmittance measurement were analyzed theoretically. This method, which can reduce the effect of beam geometry on transmittance measurement and eliminate the cutting error occurring during light transmission by monitoring the completeness of incident beam in real-time, is verified from experiments. The random standard uncertainty of this method here is 0.035% or less. It is particularly useful in the transmittance measurement of nonplanar optical. 展开更多

We present the specific ab-initio calculations that detail the variations of perovskite BaZrO3 caused by in-plane strain. Specifically, the internal relaxation, which was not captured in the widely used biaxial strain model, was included in a complementary manner to lattice relaxation. Density functional theory as well as a hybrid functional method based on a plane wave basis set was employed to calculate the lattice structure, elastic constants, electronic properties and optical properties of perovskite BaZrO3. The lattice parameter c exhibited a clear linear dependence on the imposed in-plane strain, but the Poisson's ratio caused by internal relaxation was smaller than the elastic deformation, indicating an "inelastic" or "plastic" relaxation manner caused by the introduction of internal relaxation. As a result, the related electronic and optical properties of perovskite BaZrO3 were also strongly affected by the in-plane strain, which revealed an effective way to adjust the properties of perovskite BaZrO3 via internal relaxation. 展开更多

The next-generation optical network is a service oriented network,which could be delivered by utilizing the generalized multiprotocol label switching(GMPLS) based control plane to realize lots of intelligent features such as rapid provisioning,automated protection and restoration(P&R),efficient resource allocation,and support for different quality of service(QoS) requirements.In this paper,we propose a novel stateful PCE-cloud(SPC)based architecture of GMPLS optical networks for cloud services.The cloud computing technologies(e.g.virtualization and parallel computing) are applied to the construction of SPC for improving the reliability and maximizing resource utilization.The functions of SPC and GMPLS based control plane are expanded according to the features of cloud services for different QoS requirements.The architecture and detailed description of the components of SPC are provided.Different potential cooperation relationships between public stateful PCE cloud(PSPC) and region stateful PCE cloud(RSPC) are investigated.Moreover,we present the policy-enabled and constraint-based routing scheme base on the cooperation of PSPC and RSPC.Simulation results for verifying the performance of routing and control plane reliability are analyzed. 展开更多

The equilibrium lattice constant, the cohesive energy and the electronic properties of light metal hydrides LiXH3 and XLiH3 (X = Be, B or C) with perovskite lattice structures have been investigated by using the pseudopotential plane-wave method. Large energy gap of LiBeH3 indicates that it is insulating, but other investigated hydrides are metallic. The pressure-induced metallization of LiBeH3 is found at about 120 GPa, which is attributed to the increase of Be-p electrons with pressure. The electronegativity of the p electrons of X atom is responsible for the metallicity of the investigated LiXH3 hydrides, but the electronegativity of the s electrons of X atom plays an important role in the metallicity of the investigated XLiH3 hydrides. In order to deeply understand the investigated hydrides, their optical properties have also been investigated. The optical absorption of either LiBeH3 or BeLiH3 has a strong peak at about 5 eV, showing that their optical responses are qualitatively similar. It is also found that the optical responses of other investigated hydrides are stronger than those of LiBeH3 and BeLiH3 in lower energy ranges, especially in the case of CLiH3. 展开更多

搭建了一种用于乙炔痕量气体高灵敏度探测的全光式石英音叉增强型光声光谱系统。为了提高系统探测灵敏度,采用光功率放大技术提高激励光源功率,采用直角棱镜使激光束穿过两个共振管,采用光纤珐珀传感技术测量音叉叉股面外单向振动代替... 搭建了一种用于乙炔痕量气体高灵敏度探测的全光式石英音叉增强型光声光谱系统。为了提高系统探测灵敏度,采用光功率放大技术提高激励光源功率,采用直角棱镜使激光束穿过两个共振管,采用光纤珐珀传感技术测量音叉叉股面外单向振动代替面内对称振动;同时利用自稳定技术提高系统的稳定性。采用有限元分析方法对传统商用石英音叉的振动进行了模拟和分析。在对激光调制深度、微共振管结构尺寸和激光输出功率等参数优化基础上,得到了2.9 ppb的系统检测极限,归一化等效噪声系数为2.4×10^(-9)cm^(-1)·W·Hz^(-1/2);二次谐波信号幅值与C_(2)H_(2)浓度呈现良好的线性关系,其线性相关系数达到0.999。最后经过1小时的连续实验验证了通过自稳定技术可以有效提高系统的稳定性。 展开更多

为了解决星地自由空间光学通信系统中的提前角问题,采用了一种基于光强传输的新型波前探测技术——投影光瞳面分布(Projected Pupil Plane Pattern,PPPP),并通过实验室实验验证了该技术的可行性。PPPP基于TIE光强传输公式,根据不同传输... 为了解决星地自由空间光学通信系统中的提前角问题,采用了一种基于光强传输的新型波前探测技术——投影光瞳面分布(Projected Pupil Plane Pattern,PPPP),并通过实验室实验验证了该技术的可行性。PPPP基于TIE光强传输公式,根据不同传输距离下光强分布的变化反解出大气湍流引起的波前畸变。由于PPPP采用的是上行通信激光本身的后向瑞利散射,其测量的大气湍流方向与通信卫星方向一致,因此可以有效解决星地激光通信中的提前角问题。实验模拟了1 m口径的地基望远镜作为上行激光发射装置和后向散射光斑成像设备,通过等效高度分别为10 km和17 km的上行激光后向散射光斑图像来实现对10 km以下大气湍流的波前探测。实验采用的波前畸变模拟装置包括空间光调制器和透明塑料片,实验结果表明,对不同的波前畸变PPPP和通用的夏克-哈特曼波前探测器可以实现相似的波前重构,两者重构相位的残差约为初始相位的30%。 展开更多

A substrate-ffee optical readout focal plane array (FPA) operating in 8-12 um with a heat sink structure (HSS) was fabricated and its performance was tested. The temperature distribution of the FPA with an HSS investigated by using a commercial FLIR IR camera shows excellent uniformity. The thermal cross-talk effect existing in traditional substrate-free FPAs was eliminated effectively. The heat sink is fabricated successfully by electroplating copper, which provides high thermal capacity and high thermal conductivity, on the frame of substrate-free FPA. The FPA was tested in the optical-readout system, the results show that the response and NETD are 13.6 grey/K (F / # = 0.8) and 588 inK, respectively. 展开更多

线结构光三维视觉测量是获取物体表面三维数据的主要方法之一,传统的线结构光标定结果完全依赖提取光条纹特征点的数量,实际操作中无法保证提取足够多的特征点来拟合平面。针对这一问题,设计1种新的线结构光标定方法,将相机中心与结构... 线结构光三维视觉测量是获取物体表面三维数据的主要方法之一,传统的线结构光标定结果完全依赖提取光条纹特征点的数量,实际操作中无法保证提取足够多的特征点来拟合平面。针对这一问题,设计1种新的线结构光标定方法,将相机中心与结构光光条纹中心的任一特征点连成直线,不需求得光条纹中心线所有点的坐标,只需找到光条纹与棋盘格格边的交点;将其作为光条纹的特征点,控制特征点的数量,基于一次拟合特征点在像素坐标系下的直线方程,再联立直线方程与棋盘格平面方程,得到相机坐标系下的特征点坐标,依次求得3条及以上光条纹的中心坐标;利用多条不重合的直线拟合平面,采用二次拟合的方法提高标定精度。通过实验室搭建的线结构光单目相机对本文方法进行标定实验,结果表明:特征点到光平面的平均距离为0.052 mm,该距离在标定误差范围内,本文方法可有效解决因特征点较少而导致标定误差大的问题。 展开更多

We have measured the in-plane optical anisotropy (IPOA) of (1120) ZnO (a-plane) on (10]-2) sapphire (r-plane) by reflectance difference spectroscopy (RDS) at room temperature. Giant IPOA has been observed be- tween the light polarized direction parallel and perpendicular to the c axis of ZnO, since the symmetry of a-plane is C2v. A sharp resonance has been observed near the fundamental band gap, which is induced by the polarization- depend band gap shift. The sharp line shape is attributed to the exciton transition. The spectra fitting and differential spectra indicate the polarization-depend band energies. The giant IPOA is possible enhanced by anisotropy strain along and perpendicular to the c axis in the a-plane. 展开更多
