A Multilevel Hierarchical Parallel Algorithm for Large-Scale Finite Element Modal Analysis

The strict and high-standard requirements for the safety and stability ofmajor engineering systems make it a tough challenge for large-scale finite element modal analysis.At the same time,realizing the systematic analysis of the entire large structure of these engineering systems is extremely meaningful in practice.This article proposes a multilevel hierarchical parallel algorithm for large-scale finite element modal analysis to reduce the parallel computational efficiency loss when using heterogeneous multicore distributed storage computers in solving large-scale finite element modal analysis.Based on two-level partitioning and four-transformation strategies,the proposed algorithm not only improves the memory access rate through the sparsely distributed storage of a large amount of data but also reduces the solution time by reducing the scale of the generalized characteristic equation(GCEs).Moreover,a multilevel hierarchical parallelization approach is introduced during the computational procedure to enable the separation of the communication of inter-nodes,intra-nodes,heterogeneous core groups(HCGs),and inside HCGs through mapping computing tasks to various hardware layers.This method can efficiently achieve load balancing at different layers and significantly improve the communication rate through hierarchical communication.Therefore,it can enhance the efficiency of parallel computing of large-scale finite element modal analysis by fully exploiting the architecture characteristics of heterogeneous multicore clusters.Finally,typical numerical experiments were used to validate the correctness and efficiency of the proposedmethod.Then a parallel modal analysis example of the cross-river tunnel with over ten million degrees of freedom(DOFs)was performed,and ten-thousand core processors were applied to verify the feasibility of the algorithm. 展开更多

The Social Internet of Things(SIoT)integrates the Internet of Things(IoT)and social networks,taking into account the social attributes of objects and diversifying the relationship between humans and objects,which overcomes the limitations of the IoT’s focus on associations between objects.Artificial Intelligence(AI)technology is rapidly evolving.It is critical to build trustworthy and transparent systems,especially with system security issues coming to the surface.This paper emphasizes the social attributes of objects and uses hypergraphs to model the diverse entities and relationships in SIoT,aiming to build an SIoT hypergraph generation model to explore the complex interactions between entities in the context of intelligent SIoT.Current hypergraph generation models impose too many constraints and fail to capture more details of real hypernetworks.In contrast,this paper proposes a hypergraph generation model that evolves dynamically over time,where only the number of nodes is fixed.It combines node wandering with a forest fire model and uses two different methods to control the size of the hyperedges.As new nodes are added,the model can promptly reflect changes in entities and relationships within SIoT.Experimental results exhibit that our model can effectively replicate the topological structure of real-world hypernetworks.We also evaluate the vulnerability of the hypergraph under different attack strategies,which provides theoretical support for building a more robust intelligent SIoT hypergraph model and lays the foundation for building safer and more reliable systems in the future. 展开更多

Background A task assigned to space exploration satellites involves detecting the physical environment within a certain space.However,space detection data are complex and abstract.These data are not conducive for researchers'visual perceptions of the evolution and interaction of events in the space environment.Methods A time-series dynamic data sampling method for large-scale space was proposed for sample detection data in space and time,and the corresponding relationships between data location features and other attribute features were established.A tone-mapping method based on statistical histogram equalization was proposed and applied to the final attribute feature data.The visualization process is optimized for rendering by merging materials,reducing the number of patches,and performing other operations.Results The results of sampling,feature extraction,and uniform visualization of the detection data of complex types,long duration spans,and uneven spatial distributions were obtained.The real-time visualization of large-scale spatial structures using augmented reality devices,particularly low-performance devices,was also investigated.Conclusions The proposed visualization system can reconstruct the three-dimensional structure of a large-scale space,express the structure and changes in the spatial environment using augmented reality,and assist in intuitively discovering spatial environmental events and evolutionary rules. 展开更多

Hydroisomerization of n-Pentane over Zn-Fe-S2O8-2/ZrO2-Al2O3 Superacid Catalyst: Activity, Surface Analysis and the Investigation of Deactivation and Regeneration

The Zn and Fe modified /ZrO<sub>2</sub>-Al<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> catalyst (Zn-Fe-SZA) was prepared and mechanisms of deactivation and methods for regeneration of as-prepared catalyst were explored with n-pentane isomerization as a probe reaction. The results indicated that the isopentane yield of the fresh Zn-Fe-SZA-F catalyst was about 57% at the beginning of the run, and declined gradually to 50% within 1500 min, then fell rapidly from 50% to 40% between 1500 and 2500 minutes. The deactivation of Zn-Fe-SZA catalyst may be caused by carbon formation on surface of the catalyst, sulfate group attenuation owing to reduction by hydrogen, removal of sulfur species and the loss of strong acid sites. It was found that the initial catalytic activity over Zn-Fe-SZA-T catalyst was 48%, which recovered by 84.3% as compared to that of fresh catalyst (57%). However, it showed a sharp decrease in isopentane yield from 48% to 29% within 1500 minutes, showing poor stability. This is associated to the loss of acidity caused by removal of sulfur species cannot be basically restored by thermal treatment. Resulfating the calcined catalyst could improve the acidity of catalyst significantly, especially strong acid sites, as compared with the calcined sample. The improved stability of the resulfated catalyst can be explained by: 1) eliminaton of carbon deposition to some extent by calcination process, 2) formation of improved acidic nature by re-sulfation, favoring isomerization on acidic sites, 3) restructuring of the acid and metal sites via the calcination-re-sulfation procedure. 展开更多

This paper aims to collect and analyze twitter data related to the recent wildfire in California to perform a trend analysis by classifying firsthand and credible information from Twitter users. This work investigates tweets on the recent wildfire in California and classifies them based on witnesses into two types: 1) direct witnesses and 2) indirect witnesses. The collected and analyzed information can be useful for law enforcement agencies and humanitarian organizations for communication and verification of the situational awareness during wildfire hazards. Trend analysis is an aggregated approach that includes sentimental analysis and topic modeling performed through domain-expert manual annotation and machine learning. Two sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of this system (namely, theorem 1 and theorem 2) are derived via a multiple Lyapunov function approach. In theorem 1, the information of membership functions of fuzzy rules should be known in order to analyze the stability of F. But in general this information is not easy to be acquired for their time-varying property. So theorem 2 is provided to judge the asymptotic stability of F, based on which there is no need to know the information of membership functions in stability analysis. Marc was used in the simulation using implicit static arithmetic. The whole rolling process of 30 passes was separated and simulated with several continuous 3D elastic-plastic FE models. A rigid pushing body and a data transfer technique were introduced into this model. The on-line experiments were conducted on 304 stainless steel and GCr15 steel hot continuous rolling process to prove the results of simulation by implicit static FEM. The results show that the temperature results of finite element simulations are in good agreement with experiments, which indicate that the FE model developed in this study is effective and efficient. 展开更多

For the purpose of studying energy transfer and damage mechanism of submarine pipe impacted by dropped objects, series of experiments are designed and carried out. The effective yield strength is deduced to make the quasi-static analysis more reliable, and the normal distribution of energy transfer ratio caused by lateral impact on pipes is presented by statistic analysis of experimental results based on the effective yield strength, which provides experimental and theoretical basis for the risk analysis of submarine pipe system impacted by dropped objects. Failure strains of pipe material are confirmed by comparing experimental results with finite element simulation. In addition, impact contact area and impact time are proved to be the major influence factors of energy transfer by sensitivity analysis of the finite element simulation. 展开更多

The effects of the calorimetric buffer solutions were investigated while the two colorimetric reactions of AI-ferron complex and Fe-ferron complex occurred individually, and the effects of the testing wavelength and the pH of the solutions were also investigated. A timed complexatian colorimetric analysis method of Al-Fe-ferron in view of the total concentration of {AI + Fe} was then established to determine the species distribution of polymeric Al-Fe. The testing wavelength was recommended at 362 net and the testing pH value was 5. With a comparison of the ratios of n(Al)/n(Fe), the standard adsorption curves of the polymeric Al-Fe solutions were derived from the experimental results. Furthermore, the solutions' composition were carious in both the molar n(Al)/n(Fe) ratios, i.e. 0/0, 5/5, 9/1 and 0/10, and the concentrations associated with the total ( Al + Fe which ranged from 10(-5) to 10(-4) mol/L.. 展开更多

The distribution of stress field,effective strain field,velocity field and temperature field during the extrusion process were discussed and the metal flow in welding extrusion was analyzed. The simulation results show that the material flow velocities in the bearing exit are non-uniform with the originally designed die and the forepart of the profile is not neat or even. Aiming at solving this problem,the modification method of die structure was improved. The result shows that the uniform material flow velocities in the die exit and a perfect extruded are obtained by modification bearing length. 展开更多

Nicotinamide treatment of plants and plant cell cultures has been shown to promote defense and decrease levels of DNA methylation.In the present study,we used RNA-seq technology to study overall changes in gene expression induced in roots of 3-month-old spruce(Picea abies)seedlings grown from nicotinamide-treated seeds to examine the molecular mechanisms underlying the defense promotion.Approximately 350 genes were identified as differentially expressed in roots after the seed treatment.Stress response genes,including transcription factors MYB77 and LHY and two chitinase enzymes,were generally upregulated,whereas genes thought to be involved in epigenetic regulation such as DDM1,known to promote DNA methylation,were present at high frequency among the downregulated genes.Across all samples,the expression of downregulated epigenetic-related genes was highly correlated with the nicotinamide treatment,indicating a common regulation.Our results support an earlier hypothesis regarding a potential role of nicotinamide as a defense-signal mediator. 展开更多

The aim of this paper is to model the steady-state condition of a rotary shaft seal (RSS) system. For this, an iterative thermal-mechanical algorithm was developed based on incremental finite element analyzes. The behavior of the seal’s rubber material was taken into account by a large-strain viscoelastic, so called generalized Maxwell model, based on Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analyses (DMTA) and tensile measurements. The pre-loaded garter spring was modelled with a bilinear material model and the shaft was assumed to be linear elastic. The density, coefficient of thermal expansion and the thermal conductance of the materials were taken into consideration during simulation. The friction between the rotary shaft seal and the shaft was simplified and modelled as a constant parameter. The iterative algorithm was evaluated at two different times, right after assembly and 1 h after assembly, so that rubber material’s stress relaxation effects are also incorporated. The results show good correlation with the literature data, which state that the permissible temperature for NBR70 (nitrile butadiene rubber) material contacting with ~80 mm shaft diameter, rotating at 2600/min is 100°C. The results show 107°C and 104°C for the two iterations. The effect of friction induced temperature, changes the width of the contact area between the seal and the shaft, and significantly reduces the contact pressure. 展开更多

利用阳极极化曲线、俄歇电子能谱(AES)以及X射线光电子谱(XPS)测试技术研究Fe-25Mn和Fe-24Mn-4Al-5Cr钢分别在1 mol/L Na_(2)SO_(4)溶液和30%NaOH溶液中的钝化行为、钝化膜的成分及钝化膜的结构变化,得出Mn化合物结构对Fe-Mn基钢钝化膜... 利用阳极极化曲线、俄歇电子能谱(AES)以及X射线光电子谱(XPS)测试技术研究Fe-25Mn和Fe-24Mn-4Al-5Cr钢分别在1 mol/L Na_(2)SO_(4)溶液和30%NaOH溶液中的钝化行为、钝化膜的成分及钝化膜的结构变化,得出Mn化合物结构对Fe-Mn基钢钝化膜耐蚀性的影响规律。研究结果表明:在1 mol/L Na_(2)SO_(4)溶液中,Fe-25Mn钢处于活化溶解状态,Fe-24Mn-4Al-5Cr钢则呈现钝化状态,钝化膜中Mn元素贫乏,Al、Cr元素富集;钝化膜主要由致密的Al_(2)O_(3)和Cr_(2)O_(3)组成,结构疏松的Mn_(2)O_(3)发生溶解,降低了Fe-Mn基钢钝化膜耐蚀性。在30%NaOH溶液中,Fe-25Mn钢表现出与Fe-24Mn-4Al-5Cr钢相近的钝化能力,钝化膜中只出现Mn元素的富集,结构致密的Mn(OH)_3是钝化膜的有效保护组分,显著提高了Fe-Mn基钢钝化膜的耐蚀性。 展开更多

Owing to the complexity of the pipe-in-pipe (PIP) riser system in structure, load and restraint, many problems arise in the structural analysis of the system. This paper presents a new method for nonlinear static finite element stress analysis of the PIP riser system. The finite element (FE) model of the PIP riser system is built via software AutoPIPE 6.1. According to the specialties of a variety of components in the PIP riser system, different elements are used so as to model the system accurately. Allowing for the complication in modeling the effects of seabed restraint, a technique based on the bilinear spring concept is developed to calculate the soil properties. Then, based on a pipeline project, the entire procedure of stress analysis is discussed in detail, including creation of an FE model, processing of input data and analysis of results. A wide range of loading schemes is investigated to ascertain that the stresses remain within the acceptable range of the pipe material strength. Finally, the effects of the location of flanges, the thermal expansion of submarine pipelines and the seabed restraint on stress distribution in the riser and expansion loop are studied, which are valuable for pipeline designers. 展开更多

Spatial-temporal analysis of emotions in society has become popular in many studies integrating geography with the humanities,and has shown its influence on social sensing and geo-computation for social sciences.Emotions in society are often volatile,irrational,and vulnerable to the social environment.A critical challenge is to analyze changes in long-term and large-scale emotions in society.In this paper,we propose exploiting this challenge by using spatial-temporal analysis.After extracting emotional,temporal,and spatial information,a spatial standardization approach based on adataset of administrative district changes addresses the problem of Chinese toponym changes.Finally,over 1.7 million news data from the People’s Daily from 1956 to 2014 were collected to explore the changes,spatial distribution,and driving factors of emotions in society using spatial-temporal analysis.The experimental results found that the spatial-temporal analysis of emotions in society in the news is consistent with the results of related sociological research. 展开更多
