This study unveils the possibility of using PP micro-fibres to improve the impact behaviour of fibre-reinforced ultra-high-performance concrete(FRUHPC) columns. Results show that the addition of fibres significantly improves the impact behaviour of FRUHPC columns by shifting the failure mechanism from brittle shear to favourable flexural failure. The addition of steel or PP fibres affected the impact responses differently. Steel fibres considerably increased the peak impact force(up to 18%) while PP micro-fibres slightly increased the peak(3%-4%). FRUHPC significantly reduced the maximum midheight displacement by up to 30%(under 20°impact) and substantially improved the displacement recovery by up to 100%(under 20° impact). FRUHPC with steel fibres significantly improved the energy absorption while those with PP micro-fibres reduced the energy absorption, which is different from the effect of PP-macro fibre reported in the literature. The optimal fibre content for micro-PP fibres is 1% due to its minimal fibre usage and low peak and residual displacement. This study highlights the potential of FRUHPC as a promising material for impact-resistant structures by creating a more favourable flexural failure mechanism, enhancing ductility and toughness under impact loading, and advancing the understanding of the role of fibres in structural performance.展开更多

Triaxial compression tests on the specimens in various ages and mix designs under different confining pressures have been done and the stress-strain behavior of such materials and their strength parameter changes have been experimentally investigated. It has been observed that increasing the confining pressures applied on the specimens causes the material behavior to be alike the more ductile materials and the compressive strength increases considerably as well. Moreover, a parametric study has been carded out to investigate the influence of essential parameters on the shear strength parameters of these materials. According to the research, increasing the coarse to fine aggregates ratio leads to the increase of compressive strength of the specimens as well as the increase of the cohesion and internal friction angle of the materials. Furthermore, the bentonite content decrease and the cement factor increase result in an increase of the cohesion parameter of plastic concretes and decrease of the internal friction angle of such materials.展开更多

Thus, it is essential to evaluate the effect of multidirectional loading on the dynamic response and seismic performance of reinforced concrete bridge columns in order to develop more advanced and reliable design procedures. To investigate such effects, a 1/4 scaled circular reinforced concrete bridge column specimen was tested under two horizontal and one vertical components of a strong motion that has long duration with several strong pulses. Damage progress of reinforced concrete columns subjected to strong excitation was evaluated from the test. The test results demonstrate that the lateral force response in the principal directions become smaller than computed flexural capacity due to the bilateral flexural loading effects, and that the lateral response is not significantly affected by the fluctuation of the axial force because the horizontal response and axial force barely reached the maximum simultaneously due to difference of the predominant natural periods between the vertical and the horizontal directions. Accuracy of fiber analyses is discussed using the test results.展开更多

The analysis of the FE numerical substructure is split into response analysis and signal generation tasks, and executed in two different target computers in real-time. One target computer implements the response analysis task, wherein a large time-step is used to solve the FE substructure, and another target computer implements the signal generation task, wherein an interpolation program is used to generate control signals in a small time-step to meet the input demand of the controller. By using this strategy, the scale of the FE numerical substructure simulation may be increased significantly. The proposed scheme is initially verified by two FE numerical substructure models with 98 and 1240 degrees of freedom (DOFs). Thereafter, RTDHTs of a single frame-foundation structure are implemented where the foundation, considered as the numerical substructure, is simulated by the FE model with 1240 DOFs. Good agreements between the results of the RTDHT and those from the FE analysis in ABAQUS are obtained.展开更多

The structure was divided into two substructures whereby a physical model of the bottom three stories was tested in the laboratory and the upper 37 stories were simulated numerically using ABAQUS. An overlapping domain method was employed for the bottom three stories to ensure the validity of the boundary conditions of the superstructure. Mixed control was adopted in the test. Displacement control was used to apply the horizontal displacement, while two controlled force actuators were applied to simulate the overturning moment, which is very large and cannot be ignored in the substructure hybrid test of high-rise buildings. A series of tests with earthquake sources of sequentially increasing intensities were carried out. The test results indicate that the proposed hybrid test method is a solution to reproduce the seismic response of high-rise concrete shear wall buildings. The seismic performance of the tested precast high-rise building satisfies the requirements of the Chinese seismic design code.展开更多

Two mixes are based on optimization of HPC whereas the third mix was a commercial mix developed by CONTEC ApS (Denmark). The wedge splitting test setup with 48 cubical specimens was used experimentally and the cracked non-linear hinge model based on the fictitious crack model was applied for the interpretation of the results. The stress-crack opening relationships were extracted by using inverse analysis algorithm for various multi-linear softening curves. This showed that the refinement of the softening curves reflects in improved accuracy of the WST (wedge splitting test) simulation in comparison with bi-linear softening curves with acceptable increase of computational time. Furthermore, the fracture mechanics parameters such as COD (crack opening displacement), fracture energy and characteristic length were experimentally determined. Experiments were performed at 1, 3, 7 and 28 days. Fracture energy, Gf, was found to increase with age, while the characteristic length, Lch, was found to decrease.展开更多

文摘The contents of waste glass powder(WGP)(0%,10%,15%,20%,25%)and water-binder ratio(W/C)(0.24,0.26,0.28)were used as influencing factors, and the quality loss rate(Δm)and compressive strength loss rate(Δfc)were used as characterization parameters. The Ca/Si ratio and main element contents of C-S-H gels with different WGP content were investigated by energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS).The pore structure evolution characteristics of WGP composite cementing materials were investigated by low field nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR).UsingΔfc as the index of frost resistance degradation and Weibull function, the frost resistance degradation of glass doped pervious concrete(WGP-PC)was modeled. The results show that, with WGP,for the same number of cycles,Δm andΔfc decrease and increase with the increase of WGP.Under the same WGP content,Δm andΔfc decrease first and then increase with the increase of W/C.After 100 freeze-thaw cycles, the samples with WGP content of 20%and W/C of 0.26 have the best freeze-resistance.Microscopic tests show that with the increase of WGP content, the Ca/Si ratio of C-S-H gel decreases at first and then increases with the increase of WGP content. The extreme value of Ca/Si is 2.36 when WGP is added by 20%.The pore volume of hardened paste with 20%WGP content decreased by 18.6%compared with that of cement system without WGP.The overall compactness of the specimen was improved. On the basis of the test data,a life prediction model was established according to Weibull function. The experiment showed thatΔfc could be used as a durability degradation index, and the slope of the reliability curve became gentle after WGP was added, which reduced the damage degradation rate of PC.W/C was 0.26.It's about 5000 hours.

文摘The application of self-compacting recycled concrete can solve the problem of environmental pollution caused by construction waste but its mechanical properties have not been unified and need further study. The strength of recycled concrete is unstable, and its performance still needs further study. The combination of fixed sand and stone volume method and free water cement ratio method is used to determine the mix ratio of self-compacting recycled concrete.24 sets of slump expansion tests and 24 sets of cube axial compression tests were carried out to study the effect of recycled aggregate replacement rate on the flow performance and axial compressive strength of self-compacting recycled concrete, and the performance conversion formula of self-compacting recycled concrete was given. The results show that with the increase of the regenerated coarse aggregate substitution rate, the fluidity and filling property of the self-compacting regenerated concrete mix decreased. The failure of self-compacting recycled concrete is mainly due to the failure of strength between old mortar and new mixture. As the substitution rate increases from 0 to 100%,the axial compressive strength decreases by 15.2%.

文摘A composite rubber concrete(CRC)was designed by combining waste tire rubber particles with particle sizes of 3~5 mm,1~3 mm and 20 mesh.Taking the rubber content of different particle sizes as the influencing factors, the range and variance analysis of the mechanical and impermeability properties of CRC was carried out by orthogonal test.Through analysis,it is concluded that the optimal proportion of 3~5 mm,1~3 mm,and 20 mesh particle size composite rubber is 1:2.5:5.5 kinds of CRC and 3 kinds of ordinary single-mixed rubber concrete(RC)with a total content of 10%~20%were designed under this ratio, and the salt-freezing cycle test was carried out with a concentration of 5%Na 2 SO4 solution. The physical and mechanical damage laws during 120 salt-freezing cycles are obtained, and the corresponding damage prediction model is established according to the experimental data. The results show that:on the one hand, the composite rubber in CRC produces a more uniform“graded”structure, forms a retractable particle group, and reduces the loss of mechanical properties of CRC.On the other hand, colloidal particles with different particle sizes are used as air entraining agent to improve the pore structure of concrete and introduce evenly dispersed bubbles, which fundamentally improves the durability of concrete.Under the experimental conditions, the CRC performance is the best when the overall content of composite rubber is 15%.
文摘The mechanical behavior of plastic concrete used in the cut-off walls of earth dams has been studied. Furthermore, the bentonite content decrease and the cement factor increase result in an increase of the cohesion parameter of plastic concretes and decrease of the internal friction angle of such materials.

文摘Structures behave multi-directionally when subjected to earthquake excitation. Accuracy of fiber analyses is discussed using the test results.

文摘A solution scheme is proposed in this paper for an existing RTDHT system to simulate large-scale finite element (FE) numerical substructures. Good agreements between the results of the RTDHT and those from the FE analysis in ABAQUS are obtained.

文摘The properties of polyurethane concrete containing a large amount of fly ash are investigated, and accordingly,a model is introduced to account for the influence of fly ash fineness, water ratio, and loss of ignition(LOI)on its mechanical performances. This research shows that, after optimization, the concrete has a compressive strength of 20.8 MPa,a flexural strength of 3.4 MPa,and a compressive modulus of elasticity of 19.2 GPa.The main factor influencing 28 and 90 d compressive strength is fly ash content,water-binder ratio, and early strength agent content.
文摘Over the past century, the safety of dams has gradually attracted attention from all parties.Research on the dynamic response and damage evolution of dams under extreme loads is the basis of dam safety issues. In recent decades, scholars have studied the responses of dams under earthquake loads, but there is still much room for improvement in experimental and theoretical research on small probability loads such as explosions. In this paper,a 50-m-high concrete gravity dam is used as a prototype dam,and a water explosion model test of a 2.5-m-high concrete gravity dam is designed. The water pressure and the acceleration response of the dam body in the test are analysed. The pressure characteristics and dynamic response of the dam body are assessed.Taking the dam damage test as an example,a numerical model of concrete gravity dam damage is established, and the damage evolution of the dam body is analysed.By combining experiments and numerical simulations, the damage characteristics of the dam body under the action of different charge water explosions are clarified. The integrity of the dam body is well maintained under the action of a small-quantity water explosion, and the dynamic response of the dam body is mainly caused by the shock wave. Both the shock wave and the bubble pulsation cause the dam body to accelerate, and the peak acceleration of the dam body under the action of the bubble pulsation is only one percent of the peak acceleration of the dam body under the action of the shock wave. When subjected to explosions in large quantities of water, the dam body is seriously damaged.Under the action of a shock wave, the dam body produces a secondary acceleration response, which is generated by an internal interaction after the dam body is damaged. The damage evolution process of the dam body under the action of a large-scale water explosion is analysed, and it is found that the shock wave pressure of the water explosion causes local damage to the dam body facing the explosion. After the peak value of the shock wave, the impulse continues to act on the dam body, causing cumulative damage and damage inside the dam body.

文摘An online hybrid test was carried out on a 40-story 120-m high concrete shear wall structure. The seismic performance of the tested precast high-rise building satisfies the requirements of the Chinese seismic design code.

文摘Temperature control curve is the key to achieving temperature control and crack prevention of high concrete dam during construction, and its rationality depends on the accurate measurement of temperature stress. With the simulation testing machine for the temperature stress,in the present study,we carried out the deformation process tests of concrete under three temperature curves:convex, straight and concave.Besides,we not only measured the early-age elastic modulus, creep parameters and stress process, but also proposed the preferred type. The results show that at early age, higher temperature always leads to greater elastic modulus and smaller creep. However, the traditional indoor experiments have underestimated the elastic modulus and creep development at early age, which makes the calculated value of temperature stress too small, thus increasing the cracking risk.In this study, the stress values of the three curves calculated based on the strain and early-age parameters are in good agreement with the temperature stress measured by the temperature stress testing machine, which verifies the method accuracy. When the temperature changes along the concave curve, the law of stress development is in consistent with that of strength.Under this condition, the stress fluctuation is small and the crack prevention safety of the concave type is higher,so the concave type is better. The test results provide a reliable basis and support for temperature control curve design and optimization of concrete dams.

文摘Stress waves propagate along vertical, radial and circumferential directions when a non-uniformly distributed load is applied at one end of a three-dimensional shaft. As a result, the receiving signals are usually mixed with undesired interference components, often featuring as high-frequency fluctuations.Previous studies have revealed that sectional geometry(shape and size)greatly affects the high-frequency interference. In this study, low strain dynamic testing on full-scale X-section concrete is conducted in order to investigate the influences of high-frequency interference on velocity responses at the pile head.Emphasis is placed on the frequency and peak value of interference waves at various receiving points.Additionally, the effects of the geometrical, and mechanical properties of the pile shaft on high-frequency interference are elaborated on through the three-dimensional finite element method. The results show that the measured wave is obscured by interference waves superposed by two types of high-frequency components. The modulus and cross-sectional area are contributing factors to the frequency and peak value of the interference waves. On the other hand, the position with the least interference is determined,to some extent,by the accurate shape of the X-section.
文摘The fracture behaviour of three fiber reinforced and regular HPC (high performance concretes) is presented in this paper. Fracture energy, Gf, was found to increase with age, while the characteristic length, Lch, was found to decrease.
