This paper presents a scheme for faithfully distributing a pure entanglement between two parties over an arbitrary collective-noise channel with linear optics. The transmission is assisted by an additional qubit against collective noise. The receiver can take advantage of the time discrimination and the measurement results of the assistant qubit to reconstruct a pure entanglement with the sender. Although the scheme succeeds probabilistically, the resource used to get a pure entanglement state is finite, and so is easier to establish entanglement in practice than quantum entanglement purification. 展开更多

These schemes are based on two-photon Hong-Ou-Mandel-type interference, therefore they are insensitive to the phase fluctuation. This advantage will make the realizations of these two schemes easier. One scheme can scale efficiently with the number of ensembles because of the used quantum memory. Both schemes are also robust to the noise and within the reach of current technology. 展开更多

We propose a method to improve the secret key rate of an eight-state continuous-variable quantum key distribution(CVQKD) by using a linear optics cloning machine(LOCM). In the proposed scheme, an LOCM is exploited to compensate for the imperfections of Bob's apparatus, so that the generated secret key rate of the eight-state protocol could be well enhanced. We investigate the security of our proposed protocol in a finite-size scenario so as to further approach the practical value of a secret key rate. Numeric simulation shows that the LOCM with reasonable tuning gain λ and transmittance τcan effectively improve the secret key rate of eight-state CVQKD in both an asymptotic limit and a finite-size regime.Furthermore, we obtain the tightest bound of the secure distance by taking the finite-size effect into account, which is more practical than that obtained in the asymptotic limit. 展开更多

We show that the secret key generation rate can be balanced with the maximum secure distance of four-state continuous-variable quantum key distribution(CV-QKD) by using the linear optics cloning machine(LOCM). Benefiting from the LOCM operation, the LOCM-tuned noise can be employed by the reference partner of reconciliation to achieve higher secret key generation rates over a long distance. Simulation results show that the LOCM operation can flexibly regulate the secret key generation rate and the maximum secure distance and improve the performance of four-state CV-QKD protocol by dynamically tuning parameters in an appropriate range. 展开更多

In this study, we present a hyperentanglement concentration pro- tocol (hyper-ECP) for nonlocal three-photon systems in the polarization, spatial-mode, and time- bin partially hyperentangled Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states using the Schmidt projection method. In our hyper-ECP, the three distant parties must perform the parity-check measurements on the polarization, spatial-mode, and time-bin degrees of freedom, respectively, using linear optical ele- ments and Pockels cells, and only two identical nonlocal photon systems are required. This hyper-ECP can be directly extended to the N-photon hyperentangled GHZ states, and the success probability of this general hyper-ECP for a nonlocal N-photon system is the optimal one, regardless of the photon number N. 展开更多

A design strategy is discussed in this paper,and it provides much convenience for effectively exploring achievable linear optics and globally investigating the flexibility of a complex lattice with super-periodicity.A matching method of fractional steps,which means separately finding the standard cell setting and the matching cell setting,is adopted to simplify the complexity of the linear beam optics design in the complex lattice.The multi-objective genetic algorithm is used to find most of all the stable linear optics,and reach a target solution after multi-generational propagation,both in the standard cell and the matching cell.A fitting algorithm with gradient information is used to restore the periodicity and symmetry of the lattice,and finely adjust the linear optics for further optimization.This design strategy is applied in the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility(SSRF) storage ring,and the results are presented. 展开更多

In this paper, calibrations of the linear optics during the commissioning are discussed, and some measured results about the nonlinearity given. Calibration procedure emphasizes correcting quadrupole magnetic coefficients with the Linear Optics from Closed Orbit (LOCO) technique. After fitting the closed orbit response matrix, the linear optics of the four test modes is substantially corrected, and the measured physical parameters agree well with the designed ones. 展开更多

In the existing linear optical scheme, two single photon detectors (SPDs) are used to herald the success of the quantum Fredkin gate while they have no photon count. But analysis results show that for non-perfect SPD, the lower the detector efficiency, the higher the heralded success rate by this scheme is. We propose an improved linear optical quantum Fredkin gate by designing a new heralding scheme with an auxiliary qubit and only one SPD, in which the higher the detection efficiency of the heralding detector, the higher the success rate of the gate is. The new heralding scheme can also work efficiently under a non-ideal single photon source. Based on this quantum Fredkin gate, large-scale quantum switching networks can be built. As an example, a quantum Bene~ network is shown in which only one SPD is used. 展开更多

The concept of supersymmetry developed in particle physics has been applied to various fields of modern physics.In quantum mechanics,the supersymmetric systems refer to the systems involving two supersymmetric partner Hamiltonians,whose energy levels are degeneracy except one of the systems has an extra ground state possibly,and the eigenstates of the partner systems can be mapped onto each other.Recently,an interferometric scheme has been proposed to show this relationship in ultracold atoms[Phys.Rev.A 96043624(2017)].Here this approach is generalized to linear optics for observing the supersymmetric dynamics with photons.The time evolution operator is simulated approximately via Suzuki–Trotter expansion with considering the realization of the kinetic and potential terms separately.The former is realized through the diffraction nature of light and the later is implemented using a phase plate.Additionally,we propose an interferometric approach which can be implemented perfectly using an amplitude alternator to realize the non-unitary operator.The numerical results show that our scheme is universal and can be realized with current technologies. 展开更多

The scheme is constructed with four photons from parametric down conversion, linear optical elements, and conventional photon detectors, all of which are available in current technology. It is shown that the probability of successful teleportation ideally reaches 100% based on single-photon two-qubit-assisted Bell-state measurement, which can distinguish all four Bell-states simultaneously via conventional photon detectors. By generalizing the scheme, the teleportation of an unknown multi-qubit system can also be realized. 展开更多

The linear and nonlinear optical absorption coefficients(ACs)and refraction index changes(RICs)of 1s-1p,1p-1d,and 1f-1d transitions are investigated in a wurtzite InxGa1-xN/GaN core-shell quantum dot(CSQD)with donor impurity by using density matrix approach.The effects of built-in electric field(BEF),ternary mixed crystal(TMC),impurity,and CSQD size are studied in detail.The finite element method is used to calculate the ground and excited energy state energy and wave function.The results reveal that the BEF has a great influence on the linear,nonlinear,and total ACs and RICs.The presence of impurity leads the resonant peaks of the ACs and RICs to be blue-shifted for all transitions,especially for 1s-1p transition.It is also found that the resonant peaks of the ACs and RICs present a red shift with In-composition decreasing or core radius increasing.Moreover,the amplitudes of the ACs and RICs are strongly affected by the incident optical intensity.The absorption saturation is more sensitive without the impurity than with the impurity,and the appearance of absorption saturation requires a larger incident optical intensity when considering the BEF. 展开更多

In the framework of effective mass approximation, we theoretically investigate the electronic structure of the Si δ-doped InAIN/GaN single quantum well by solving numerically the coupled equations Schrodinger-Poisson self-consistently. The linear, nonlinear optical absorption coefficients and relative refractive index changes are calculated as functions of the doping concentration and its thickness. The obtained results show that the position and the amplitude of the linear and total optical absorption coefficients and the refractive index changes can be modified by varying the doping concentration and its thickness. In addition, it is found that the maximum of the optical absorption can be red-shifted or blue-shifted by varying the doping concentration. The obtained results are important for the design of various electronic components such as high-power FETs and infrared photonic devices. 展开更多

Based on the Schr ¨odinger equation for envelope function in the effective mass approximation, linear and nonlinear optical absorption coefficients in a multi-subband lens quantum dot are investigated. The effects of quantum dot size on the interband and intraband transitions energy are also analyzed. The finite element method is used to calculate the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions. Strain and In-mole-fraction effects are also studied, and the results reveal that with the decrease of the In-mole fraction, the amplitudes of linear and nonlinear absorption coefficients increase. The present computed results show that the absorption coefficients of transitions between the first excited states are stronger than those of the ground states. In addition, it has been found that the quantum dot size affects the amplitudes and peak positions of linear and nonlinear absorption coefficients while the incident optical intensity strongly affects the nonlinear absorption coefficients. 展开更多

The linear optical properties of potassium dihydrogen phosphate(KDP) with oxygen vacancy are investigated with first-principles density functional theory calculations. We use Heyd–Scuseria–Ernzerhof(HSE06) functional to calculate the linear optical properties because of its accuracy in the band gap calculation. Compared with the perfect KDP, we found that due to the defect states located at the band gap, the defective KDP with oxygen vacancy has new optical adsorption within the energy region from 4.8 eV to 7.0 eV(the corresponding wavelength region is from 258 nm to 177 nm). As a result, the oxygen vacancy can decrease the damage threshold of KDP crystal. It may give a direction to the KDP production for laser system. 展开更多
