The system was found to be solidified into amorphous structures from different initial melt temperatures at the same cooling rate of 1×10^12 K/s, and the 1551 bond-type and the icosahedron basic cluster (12 0 12 0 ) played a key role in the microstructure transition. Different initial melt temperatures had significant effects on the final microstructures. These effects only can be clearly observed below the glass transition temperature Tg; and these effects are non-linearly related to the initial melt temperatures, and fluctuated in a certain range. However, the changes of the average atomic energy of the systems are still linearly related with the initial melt temperatures, namely, the higher the initial melt temperature is, the more stable the amorphous structure is and the stronger the glass forming ability will be.展开更多

Taking Cu-H2 system for example, the influences of argon partial pressure and superheat degree of melt on the diffusion coefficient of hydrogen in liquid metal were studied and the predicted values were similar to each other. The obtained temperature-dependent equation for diffusion coefficient of hydrogen in liquid copper is comparable with experimental data in literature, which validates the effectiveness of this method. The temperature-dependent equations for diffusion coefficient of hydrogen in liquid Mg, Si and Cu-34.6%Mn alloy were also evaluated by this method, along with the values at the melting point of each metal and alloy.展开更多

Incident waves above the critical angles of the Snell law usually inevitably induce total reflection. However, incident waves with big oblique angles through the liquid–solid superlattice will produce a superwide angle transmission in a certain frequency range so that total reflection does not occur. Together with the simulation by finite element analysis, theoretical analysis by using transfer matrix method suggests the Bragg scattering of the Lamb waves as the physical mechanism of acoustic wave super-propagation far beyond the critical angle. Incident angle, filling fraction, and material thickness have significant influences on propagation. Superwide-angle propagation phenomenon may have potential applications in nondestructive evaluation of layered structures and controlling of energy flux.展开更多

Debris flow was simplified as two-phase liquid composed of solid phase with the same diameter particles and liquid phase with the same mechanical features. Assume debris flow was one-dimension two-phase liquid moving to one direction, then general equations of velocities of solid phase and liquid phase were founded in two-phase theory. Methods to calculate average pressures, volume forces and surface forces of debris flow control volume were established. Specially, surface forces were ascertained using Bingham's rheology equation of liquid phase and Bagnold's testing results about interaction between particles of solid phase. Proportional coefficient of velocities between liquid phase and solid phase was put forward, meanwhile, divergent coefficient between theoretical velocity and real velocity of solid phase was provided too. To state succinctly before, method to calculate velocities of solid phase and liquid phase was obtained through solution to general equations. The method is suitable for both viscous debris flow and thin debris flow. Additionally, velocities every phase can be identified through analyzing deposits in-situ after occurring of debris flow. It is obvious from engineering case the result in the method is consistent to that in real-time field observation.展开更多

Besides lower impeller off-bottom clearance is good for solid suspension and distribution. The just-off-bottom speed was also determined by a power number criterion. Meanwhile, the predicted results were in good agreement with the experimental data.

文摘The non-linear effects of different initial melt temperatures on the microstructure evolution during the solidification process of liquid Mg7Zn3 alloys were investigated by molecular dynamics simulation, The microstructure transformation mechanisms were analyzed by several methods. However, the changes of the average atomic energy of the systems are still linearly related with the initial melt temperatures, namely, the higher the initial melt temperature is, the more stable the amorphous structure is and the stronger the glass forming ability will be.

文摘Tsunami induced by earthquake is an interaction problem between liquid and solid.Shallow-water wave equation is often used to modeling the tsunami, and the boundary or initial condition of the problem is determined by the displacement or velocity field from the earthquake under sea floor, usually no interaction between them is consid-ered in pure liquid model. In this study, the potential flow theory and the finite element method with the interaction between liquid and solid are employed to model the dynamic processes of the earthquake and tsunami. For model-ing the earthquake, firstly the initial stress field to generate the earthquake is set up,and then the occurrence of the earthquake is simulated by suddenly reducing the elastic material parameters inside the earthquake fault. It is dif-ferent from seismic dislocation theory in which the relative slip on the fault is specified in advance. The modeling results reveal that P,SP and the surface wave can be found at the sea surface besides the tsunami wave. The surface wave arrives at the distance of 600 km from the epicenter earlier than the tsunami 48 minutes, and its maximum amplitude is 0.55 m,which is 2 times as large as that of the sea floor.Tsunami warning information can be taken from the surface wave on the sea surface, which is much earlier than that obtained from the seismograph stations on land. The tsunami speed on the open sea with 3 km depth is 175.8 m/s,which is a little greater than that pre-dicted by long wave theory,(gh)1/2=171.5 m,and its wavelength and amplitude in average are 32 km and 2 m,respectively. After the tsunami propagates to the continental shelf, its speed and wavelength is reduced, but its amplitude become greater, especially,it can elevate up to 10 m and run 55 m forward in vertical and horizontal directions at sea shore, respectively. The maximum vertical accelerations at the epicenter on the sea surface and on the earthquake fault are 5.9 m/s2 and 16.5 m/s2,respectively,the later is 2.8 times the former, and therefore, sea water is a good shock absorber. The acceleration at the sea shore is about 1/10 as large as at the epicenter. The maximum vertical velocity at the epicenter is 1.4 times that on the fault. The maximum vertical displacement at the fault is less than that at the epicenter. The difference between them is the amplitude of the tsunami at the epicenter. The time of the maximum displacement to occur on the fault is not at the beginning of the fault slipping but retards 23 s.

文摘Based on the solid-gas eutectic unidirectional solidification technique and the principle of unidirectional solidification of single-phase alloy, a new method for evaluating the diffusion coefficient of hydrogen in liquid metals was proposed. The temperature-dependent equations for diffusion coefficient of hydrogen in liquid Mg, Si and Cu-34.6%Mn alloy were also evaluated by this method, along with the values at the melting point of each metal and alloy.

文摘In this paper, superwide-angle acoustic propagations above the critical angles of the Snell law in liquid–solid superlattice are investigated. Superwide-angle propagation phenomenon may have potential applications in nondestructive evaluation of layered structures and controlling of energy flux.

文摘This work carried out liquid-solid two-phase jet experiments and simulations to study the erosion behavior of 304 stainless steel at 30° impingement. The single-phase impinging jet was simulated using dense grid by one-way coupling of solid phase due to its dilute distribution. The simulation results agreed well with experiments. It was found that after impinging particle attrition occurred and particles became round with decreasing length-ratio and particle breakage occurred along the "long" direction. Both experiment and simulations found that the erosion generated on the sample could be divided into three regions that were nominated as stagnant region, cutting transition region and wall jet region. Most particle-wall impacts were found to occur in the cutting transition region and the wall jet region. In the cutting transition region, holes and lip-shaped hogbacks were generated in the same direction as the flow imping. In the wall jet region, furrows and grooves were generated. The averaged grooves depth tended to become constant with the progress of impinging and reach the steady state of erosion in the end.In addition,it was found that impinging effect increased erosion and anti-wear rate.
文摘Electrocatalysis is key to improving energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and providing a sustainable way of meeting global energy needs. Therefore, elucidating electrochemical reaction mechanisms at the electrolyte/electrode interfaces is essential for developing advanced renewable energy technologies. However, the direct probing of real-time interfacial changes,i.e.,the surface intermediates, chemical environment, and electronic structure, under operating conditions is challenging and necessitates the use of in situ methods.Herein,we present a new lab-based instrument commissioned to perform in situ chemical analysis at liquid/solid interfaces using ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(APXPS).This setup takes advantage of a chromium source of tender X-rays and is designed to study liquid/solid interfaces by the“dip and pull”method. Each of the main components was carefully described, and the results of performance tests are presented.Using a three-electrode setup, the system can probe the intermediate species and potential shifts across the liquid electrolyte/solid electrode interface. In addition,we demonstrate how this system allows the study of interfacial changes at gas/solid interfaces using a case study:a sodium–oxygen model battery. However, the use of APXPS in electrochemical studies is still in the early stages,so we summarize the current challenges and some developmental frontiers.Despite the challenges,we expect that joint efforts to improve instruments and the electrochemical setup will enable us to obtain a better understanding of the composition–reactivity relationship at electrochemical interfaces under realistic reaction conditions.

文摘As an important form of reactors for gas/liquid/solid catalytic reaction, trickle bed reactors (TBRs) are widely applied in petroleum industry, biochemical, fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries because of their flexibility, simplicity of operation and high throughput. However,TBRs also show inefficient production and hot pots caused by non-uniform fluid distribution and incomplete wetting of the catalyst, which limit their further application in chemical industry. Also, process intensification in TBRs is necessary as the decrease in quality of processed crude oil, caused by increased exploitation depths, and more restrictive environmental regulations and emission standards for industry, caused by increased environment protection consciousness. In recent years, lots of strategies for process intensification in TBRs have been proposed to improve reaction performance to meet the current and future demands of chemical industry from the environmental and economic perspective. This article summarizes the recent progress in techniques for intensifying gas/liquid/solid reaction in TBRs and application of intensified TBRs in petroleum industry.

文摘Velocities of solid phase and liquid phase in debris flow are one key problem to research on impact and abrasion mechanism of banks and control structures under action of debris flow. It is obvious from engineering case the result in the method is consistent to that in real-time field observation.
文摘An overview of the development and current status of the directional solidification process assisted by liquid metal cooling (LMC) has been presented in this paper. The driving force of the rapid development of the LMC process has been analyzed by considering the demands of (1) newer technologies that can provide higher thermal gradients for alleviated segregation in advanced alloy systems, and (2) better production yield of the large directionally solidified superalloy components. The brief history of the industrialization of the LMC process has been reviewed, followed by the discussion on the LMC parameters including selection of the cooling media, using of the dynamic baffle, and the influence of withdrawal rates and so on. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the traditional superalloys processed by LMC, as well as the new alloys particularly developed for LMC process were then described. Finally, future aspects concerning the LMC process have been summarized.

文摘Cu/Al clad strips are prepared using solid?liquid cast-rolling bonding(SLCRB)technique with a d160mm×150mm twin-roll experimental caster. The extent of interfacial reactions, composition of the reaction products, and their micro-morphology evolution in the SLCRB process are investigated with scanning electron microscope(SEM),energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS),and X-ray diffraction(XRD).In the casting pool, initial aluminized coating is first generated on the copper strip surface, with the diffusion layer mainly consisting ofα(Al)+CuAl2and growing at high temperatures, with the maximum thickness of10μm.After sequent rolling below the kiss point, the diffusion layer is broken by severe elongation, which leads to an additional crack bond process with a fresh interface of virgin base metal. The average thickness is reduced from10to5μm.The reaction products,CuAl2,CuAl,and Cu9Al4,are dispersed along the rolling direction.Peeling and bending test results indicate that the fracture occurs in the aluminum substrate, and the morphology is a dimple pattern. No crack or separation is found at the bonding interface after90°-180°bending.The presented method provides an economical way to fabricate Cu/Al clad strip directly.

文摘In the past few decades, various surface analysis techniques find wide applications in studies of interfacial phenomena ranging from fundamental surface science, catalysis, environmental science and energy materials. With the help of bright synchrotron sources, many of these techniques have been further advanced into novel in-situ/operando tools at synchrotron user facilities, providing molecular level understanding of chemical/electrochemical processes in-situ at gas–solid and liquid–solid interfaces.Designing a proper endstation for a dedicated beamline is one of the challenges in utilizing these techniques efficiently for a variety of user's requests. Many factors, including pressure differential, geometry and energy of the photon source, sample and analyzer, need to be optimized for the system of interest. In this paper, we discuss the design and performance of a new endstation at beamline02 B at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility for ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies. This system, equipped with the newly developed hightransmission HiPP-3 analyzer, is demonstrated to be capable of efficiently collecting photoelectrons up to 1500 eV from ultrahigh vacuum to ambient pressure of 20 mbar. The spectromicroscopy mode of HiPP-3 analyzer also enables detection of photoelectron spatial distribution with resolution of 2.8 ± 0.3 lm in one dimension. In addition, the designing strategies of systems that allow investigations in phenomena at gas–solid interface and liquid–solid interface will be highlighted through our discussion.
