Listening is the primary method to access language information. It is an essential part of L2(second language)teaching but also the most difficult skill to master for L2 learners.Based on this,it is necessary to analyze learners’needs in listening. This article aims to conduct a needs analysis of a selected learner from Iraq and describe course material selection and design. Methods including questionnaires, interviews, and observation were used to collect data.Additionally, targeted 60-minute online listening activities were designed. It was found that listening activities can improve both listening and speaking skills. Thus, language teaching should be student-oriented,and subsequent course materials and activity design should be selected based on the analysis of students’needs. 展开更多

With the fast development of science and technology, English is becoming more and more important. Concerning English learning, we should focus our attention on listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating. Comparatively speaking, listening and speaking skills are more practical. But how to improve these skills? Everyone knows that the only effective way to improve language skills is to use the language. In reality, however, we know that there are many reasons why people don’t want to speak in another language——they are afraid of making mistakes, they can’t express their real meaning easily, they are shy, they are afraid people will laugh at them. We feel this way sometimes, but if you are sure that you really want to improve your English, try some of the suggestions that have been made here. 展开更多

Introduction Why listening is neglected in senior middle school English classes It is well known that there are four basic language skills, none of which should be neglected. Unfortunately, teachers of English in middle schools usually pay little attention to listening for a number of reasons.
