A CHARACTERIZATION OF LOCALLY COMPACT INNER AMENABLE GROUPS

For locally compact groups G, Kuan Yuan studied a notion of inner amenability groups, that is, if there exists an inner invariant mean on G. In this article, among other things, the author investigates the inner amenability on a locally compact group G. The author gives sufficient conditions and some necessary conditions about G to have an inner invariant mean.

The Sequence-covering Compact Images of Paracompact Locally Compact Spaces

This paper gives internal characterizations of some sequence covering compact images and compact covering compact images of paracompact locally compact spaces, which improve some results on compact images of locally compact metric spaces.

Soft Locally Compact Spaces and Soft Paracompact Spaces

The concept of soft topological space was introduced by some authors. In the present paper, we investigate some basic notions of soft topological spaces by using new soft point concept. Later we give soft locally compact space and the relationships between them are discussed in detail. Finally, we define soft paracompactness and explore some of its basic properties.

A Note on Additive Characters of Locally Compact Fields

In this note, we give an elementary and constructive proof for that the additive character group of a locally compact field is isomorphic to itself as an additive topological group.

When is an Almost Locally Compact Space Supercomplete?

It is proved in this paper that(1) the topological sum of a family of supercomplete spaces is supercomplete;(2) if X is a metacompact and almost locally compact space then X is supercomplete. Moreover, some questions on supercomplete spaces are posed in the paper.

MULTIPLIERS ON WEIGHTED FUNCTION SPACES OVER LOCALLY COMPACT VILENKIN GROUPS

In this note, we consider the multipliers on weighted function spaces over totally disconnected locally compact abelian groups (Vilenkin groups). Firstly we show an (H1 ,L ) multiplier result. We also give an (Hap ,Hap) multiplier result under a similiar condition of Lu Yang type. In section 2, we obtain a result about the boundedness of multipliers on weighted Besov spaces.

On Some Topological Properties of Normed Boolean Algebras

This paper concerns the compactness and separability properties of the normed Boolean algebras (N.B.A.) with respect to topology generated by a distance equal to the square root of a measure of symmetric difference between two elements. The motivation arises from studying random elements talking values in N.B.A. Those topological properties are important assumptions that enable us to avoid possible difficulties when generalising concepts of random variable convergence, the definition of conditional law and others. For each N.B.A., there exists a finite measure space ( E,ℰ,μ ) such that the N.B.A. is isomorphic to ( ℰ ˜ , μ ˜ ) resulting from the factorisation of initial σ-algebra by the ideal of negligible sets. We focus on topological properties ( ℰ ˜ , μ ˜ ) in general setting when μ can be an infinite measure. In case when μ is infinite, we also consider properties of ℰ ˜ fin ⊆ ℰ ˜ consisting of classes of measurable sets having finite measure. The compactness and separability of the N.B.A. are characterised using the newly defined terms of approximability and uniform approximability of the corresponding measure space. Finally, conditions on ( E,ℰ,μ ) are derived for separability and compactness of ℰ ˜ and ℰ ˜ fin .

CONTINUOUS FRAME WAVELETS

Let π be a unitary representation of a locally compact topological group G on a separable Hilbert space H. A vector ψ∈ H is called a continuous frame wavelet if there exist A, B 〉 0 such that A｜｜Ф｜｜2≤fG｜〈π（G）ψ,Ф｜2dg≤B｜｜Ф｜｜2（Ф∈H）,in which dg is the left Haar measure of G. Similar to the study of wavelets, an essential problem in the study of continuous frame wavelets is how to characterize them under the given unitary representation. Moreover, we investigate a relation between admissible vectors of π and its components.

SOLUTIONS AND STABILITY OF A GENERALIZATION OF WILSON'S EQUATION

In this paper we study the solutions and stability of the generalized Wilson＇s functional equation fc f（xty）dtt（t） ＋ fc f（xtσ（y））dtt（t） =2f（x）g（y）, x,y C G, where G is a locally compact group, a is a continuous involution of G and # is an idempotent complex measure with compact support and which is a-invariant. We show that ∫Gg（xty）dp（t） ＋ fcg（xta（y））dp（t） = 2g（x）g（y） if f = 0 and fcf（t.）dp（t） =0, where [fcf（t.）dp（t）]（x） = fc f（tx）dμ（t）. We also study some stability theorems of that equation and we establish the stability on noncommutative groups of the classical Wilson＇s functional equation f（xy） ＋ X（y）f（xa（y）） = 2f（x）g（y） x, y C G, where X is a unitary character of G.

Existence of Solutions for Nonlinear Implicit Complementarity Problems in Reflexive Banach Spaces

In this paper,we prove existence results of soutions for the nonlinear implicit complementarity problems NICP(T,S,K) where K is a closed weakly locally compact convex cone in a reflexive Banach space E,T is a nonlinear operator from K into E* (i. e.,the dual space of E) and S is a nonlinear operator from K into E. Our results are the essential improvements and extension of the results obtained previously by several authors including Thera,Ding,and Zeng.

Two Notes on Topological Groups

In this short paper, we firstly give a short proof of Birkhoff-Kakutani Theorem by Moore metrizable Theorem. Then we prove that G is a topological group if it is a paratopological group which is a dense G_δ-set in a locally feebly compact regular space X.

An Expository on Some Nonstandard Compactifications

Three classical compactification procedures are presented with nonstandard flavour. This is to illustrate the applicability of Nonstandard analytic tool to beginners interested in Nonstandard analytic methods. The general procedure is as follows: A suitable equivalence relation is defined on an enlargement *X of the space X which is a completely regular space or a locally compact Hausdorff space or a locally compact Abelian group. Accordingly, every f in C(X,R) (the space of bounded continuous real valued functions on X) or Cc(X,R) (the space of continuous real valued functions on X with compact support) or the dual group Γ of the locally compact Abelian group G is extended to the set of the above mentioned equivalence classes. A compact topology on is obtained as the weak topology generated by these extensions of f. Then X is naturally imbedded densely in .

Γ-amenability of Locally Compact Groups

Let G be a locally compact group and let F be a closed subgroup of G × G. Pier introduced the notion of F-amenability which gives a new classification of groups. This concept generalizes the concept of amenability and inner amenability for locally compact groups. In this paper, among other things, we extend some standard results for amenable groups to F-amenable groups and give various characterizations for F-amenable groups. A sequence of characterizations of F-amenable groups is given here by developing the well-known Flner＇s conditions for amenable locally compact groups. Several characterizations of inner amenability are also given.

Transversality on locally pseudocompact groups

Two non-discrete Hausdorff group topologiesτandδon a group G are called transversal if the least upper boundτ⋁δofτandδis the discrete topology.In this paper,we discuss the existence of transversal group topologies on locally pseudocompact,locally precompact,or locally compact groups.We prove that each locally pseudocompact,connected topological group satisfies central subgroup paradigm,which gives an affirmative answer to a problem posed by Dikranjan,Tkachenko,and Yaschenko[Topology Appl.,2006,153:3338–3354].For a compact normal subgroup K of a locally compact totally disconnected group G,if G admits a transversal group topology,then G/K admits a transversal group topology,which gives a partial answer again to a problem posed by Dikranjan,Tkachenko,and Yaschenko in 2006.Moreover,we characterize some classes of locally compact groups that admit transversal group topologies.

Diffusion-Limited Aggregation with Polygon Particles

Diffusion-limited aggregation （DLA） assumes that particles perform pure random walk at a finite tem- perature and aggregate when they come close enough and stick together. Although it is well known that DLA in two dimensions results in a ramified fractal structure, how the particle shape influences the formed morphology is still un- clear. In this work, we perform the off-lattice two-dimensional DLA simulations with different particle shapes of triangle, quadrangle, pentagon, hexagon, and octagon, respectively, and compare with the results for circular particles. Our results indicate that different particle shapes only change the local structure, but have no effects on the global structure of the formed fractal duster. The local compactness decreases as the number of polygon edges increases.

On Proximinality of Convex Sets in Superspaces

Abstract In this paper, we show that a closed convex subset C of a Banach space is strongly proximinal （proximinal, resp.） in every Banach space isometrically containing it if and only if C is locally （weakly, resp.） compact. As a consequence, it is proved that local compactness of C is also equivalent to that for every Banach space Y isometrically containing it, the metric projection from Y to C is nonempty set-valued and upper semi-continuous.

Topological Representations of Distributive Hypercontinuous Lattices

The concept of locally strong compactness on domains is generalized to general topological spaces. It is proved that for each distributive hypercontinuous lattice L, the space SpecL of nonunit prime elements endowed with the hull-kernel topology is locally strongly compact, and for each locally strongly compact space X, the complete lattice of all open sets O(X) is distributive hypercontinuous. For the case of distributive hyperalgebraic lattices, the similar result is given. For a sober space X, it is shown that there is an order reversing isomorphism between the set of upper-open filters of the lattice O(X) of open subsets of X and the set of strongly compact saturated subsets of X, which is analogous to the well-known Hofmann-Mislove Theorem.

Projections onto Invariant Subspaces of Some Banach Algebras

In this paper, among other things, the author studies the weak^＊-closed left translation invariant complemented subspace of semigroup algebras and group algebras. Also, the author studies the relationships between projections and amenability.

On Almost Isometric Embedding from C(Ω) into C_0(Ω_0)

In this paper we give the sufficient and necessary condition for the existence of any almost isometric operator from C（Ω） into C0（Ω0）. As a corollary, we show that there is no e-isometry from 1 any abstract M space with a strong unit into C0（Г） if 0 〈 e 〈 1/9.

Generalized Notions of Character Amenability

In this paper, the concepts of approximate character amenability （contractibility）, uniform approximate character amenability （contractibility） and w^＊-approximate character amenability are introduced. We are concerned with the relations among the generalized concepts of character amenability for Banach algebras. We show that approximate character amenability, w^＊-approximate character amenability and approximate character contractibility are the same properties, as uniform approximate character amenability and character amenability as uniform approximate character contractibility and character contractibility. The general theory for these concepts is also developed. Moreover, approximate character amenability of several concrete classes of Banach algebras related to locally compact groups and also some discrete semigroups is considered.
