A complex and fuzzy project for local network design can be decomposed into a set of simple and particular activities using the SMLNDE. The SMLNDE allows rigorous requirements definition and permits the exhaustive consideration of the large number of factors influencing local network design engineering. The complete and clear design documentations and an optimal design can also be provided by the methodology. The SMLNDE has been implemented using the structured analysis and design technique. The study shows that the SMLNDE is an effective design methodology for the large and complex local networks. 展开更多

It could enhance the network throughput and save the energy consumption, and is mainly based on the single transmission rate. However, with the development of wireless network and equipment, wireless local network MAC protocols have already supported the multi-rate transmission. This paper investigates the optimal relay selection problem based on network coding. Firstly, the problem is formulated as an optimization problem. Moreover, a relay algorithm based on network coding is proposed and the transmission time gain of our algorithm over the traditional relay algorithm is analyzed. Lastly, we compare total transmission time and the energy consumption of our proposed algorithm, Network Coding with Relay Assistance (NCRA), Transmission Request (TR), and the Direct Transmission (DT) without relay algorithm by adopting IEEE 802.11b. The simulation results demonstrate that our algorithm that improves the coding opportunity by the cooperation of the relay nodes leads to the transmission time decrease of up to 17% over the traditional relay algorithms. 展开更多

Local Trade Networks among Farmers and Traders

Both farmers and traders benefit from trade networking, which is crucial for the local economy. Therefore, it is crucial to understand how these networks operate, and how they can be managed more effectively. Throughout this study, we examine the economic networks formed between farmers and traders through the trade of food products. These networks are analyzed from the perspective of their structure and the factors that influence their development. Using data from 18 farmers and 15 traders, we applied exponential random graph models. The results of our study showed that connectivity, Popularity Spread, activity spread, good transportation systems, and high yields all affected the development of networks. Therefore, farmers’ productivity and high market demand can contribute to local food-crop trade. The network was not affected by reciprocity, open markets, proximity to locations, or trade experience of actors. Policy makers should consider these five factors when formulating policies for local food-crop trade. Additionally, local actors should be encouraged to use these factors to improve their network development. However, it is important to note that these factors alone cannot guarantee success. Policy makers and actors must also consider other factors such as legal frameworks, economic policies, and resource availability. Our approach can be used in future research to determine how traders and farmers can enhance productivity and profit in West Africa. This study addresses a research gap by examining factors influencing local food trade in a developing country. 展开更多

Emphasis is laid on the topology and distributed routing algorithms for the DOLDL. On the basis of building an abstract model, a set of definitions and theorems are described and proved. An algorithm which can optimize the double loop networks is presented. The optimal values of the topologic parameters for the DOLDL have been obtained by the algorithm, and these numerical results are analyzed. The study shows that the bounds of the optimal diameter d and average hop distance a for this class of networks are [3N- 2]≤d≤[3N ] and (5N/9 (N-1))-(3N -1.8)<a<(5N/9(N-1)) (3N -0.9),respectively (N is the number of nodes in the network ). A class of the distributed routing algorithms for the DOLDL and the implementation procedure of an adaptive fault-tolerant algorithm are proposed and analyzed. The interpenetrating network structure provides an interesting avenue to novel materials. Locally resonant phononic crystal (LRPC) exhibits excellent sound attenuation performance based on the periodical arrangement of sound wave scatters. Combining the LRPC concept and interpenetrating network glassy structure, this paper has developed a new material which can achieve a wide band underwater strong acoustic absorption. Underwater absorption coefficients of different samples were measured by the pulse tube. Measurement results show that the new material possesses excellent underwater acoustic effects in a wide frequency range.Moreover, in order to investigate impacts of locally resonant units,some defects are introduced into the sample. The experimental result and the theoretical calculation both show that locally resonant units being connected to a network structure play an important role in achieving a wide band strong acoustic absorption. 展开更多

In some real complex networks, only a few nodes can obtain the global information about the entire networks, but most of the nodes own only local connections therefore own only local information of the networks. A new local-world evolving network model is proposed in this paper. In the model, not all the nodes obtain local network information, which is different from the local world network model proposed by Li and Chen (LC model). In the LC model, each node has only the local connections therefore owns only local information about the entire networks. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation show that adjusting the ratio of the number of nodes obtaining the global information of the network to the total number of nodes can effectively control the valuing range for the power-law exponent of the new network. Therefore, if the topological structure of a complex network, especially its exponent of power-law degree distribution, needs controlling, we just add or take away a few nodes which own the global information of the network. 展开更多

By considering the eigenratio of the Laplacian matrix as the synchronizability measure, this paper presents an efficient method to enhance the synchronizability of undirected and unweighted networks via rewiring. The rewiring method combines the use of tabu search and a local greedy algorithm so that an effective search of solutions can be achieved. As demonstrated in the simulation results, the performance of the proposed approach outperforms the existing methods for a large variety of initial networks, both in terms of speed and quality of solutions. 展开更多

Underwater Acoustic Sensor Network(UASN) has attracted significant attention because of its great influence on ocean exploration and monitoring. On account of the unique characteristics of underwater environment, localization, as one of the fundamental tasks in UASNs, is a more challenging work than in terrestrial sensor networks. A survey of the ranging algorithms and the network architectures varied with different applications in UASNs is provided in this paper. Algorithms used to estimate the coordinates of the UASNs nodes are classified into two categories: rangebased and range-free. In addition, we analyze the architectures of UASNs based on different applications, and compare their performances from the aspects of communication cost, accuracy, coverage and so on. Open research issues which would affect the accuracy of localization are also discussed, including MAC protocols, sound speed and time synchronization. 展开更多

Cascading failures under intentional attacks in LW network models with different LW sizes were investigated using the cascading failures load model. We found that the LW size has a significant impact on the network's robustness against deliberate attacks. It is much easier to trigger cascading failures in LW evolving networks with a larger LW size. Therefore, to avoid cascading failures in real networks with local preferential attachment such as the Internet, the World Trade Web and the multi-agent system, the LW size should be as small as possible. 展开更多

A localization algorithm has to be dynamic, scalable and should not impose high computation or communication overhead. The localization systems are also prone to attacks. We target a localization scheme for mobile sensor networks called Monte-Carlo Localization, which study its behavior under the most dangerous attack on localization called Wormhole Attack, also known as Collusion Attack and propose a modified algorithm that can help the localization system retain its accuracy level even in the presence of attacks. The optimal operation of water distribution networks under local pipe failures, such as water main breaks, was proposed. Based on a hydraulic analysis and a simulation of water distribution networks, a macroscopic model for a network under a local pipe failure was established by the statistical regression. After the operation objectives under a local pipe failure were determined, the optimal operation model was developed and solved by the genetic algorithm. The program was developed and examined by a city distribution network. The optimal operation alternative shows that the electricity cost is saved approximately 11%, the income of the water corporation is increased approximately 5%, and the pressure in the water distribution network is distributed evenly to ensure the network safe operation. Therefore, the proposed method for optimal operation under local pipe failure is feasible and cost-effective. 展开更多

A distributed localization algorithm is presented based on the rigid graph. Before location, the communication radius is adaptively increasing to add the localizability. The localization process includes three steps: firstly, divide the whole globally rigid graph into several small rigid blocks; secondly, set up the local coordinate systems and transform them to global coordinate system; finally, use the quadrilateration iteration technology to locate the nodes in the wireless sensor network. This algorithm has the advantages of low energy consumption, low computational complexity as well as high expandability and high localizability. Moreover, it can achieve the unique and accurate localization. Finally, some simulations are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. 展开更多

In this paper,we propose a local fuzzy method based on the idea of "p-strong" community to detect the disjoint and overlapping communities in networks.In the method,a refined agglomeration rule is designed for agglomerating nodes into local communities,and the overlapping nodes are detected based on the idea of making each community strong.We propose a contribution coefficient bvcito measure the contribution of an overlapping node to each of its belonging communities,and the fuzzy coefficients of the overlapping node can be obtained by normalizing the bvci to all its belonging communities.The running time of our method is analyzed and varies linearly with network size.We investigate our method on the computergenerated networks and real networks.The testing results indicate that the accuracy of our method in detecting disjoint communities is higher than those of the existing local methods and our method is efficient for detecting the overlapping nodes with fuzzy coefficients.Furthermore,the local optimizing scheme used in our method allows us to partly solve the resolution problem of the global modularity. 展开更多

In this paper, we propose a two phase hybrid approach for localization using Multidi- mensional Scaling and trilateration, namely, MDS with refinement using trilateration. Trilateration refines the estimated locations obtained by the MDS algorithm and hence acts as a post optimizer which improves the accuracy of the estimated positions of sensor nodes. Through extensive simulations, we have shown that the proposed algorithm is more robust to noise than previous approaches and provides higher accuracy for estimating the positions of sensor nodes. 展开更多

The detectability and reliability analysis for the local seismic network is performed employing by Bungum and Husebye technique. The events were relocated using standard computer codes for hypocentral locations. The detectability levels are estimated from the twenty-five years of recorded data in terms of 50%, 90% and 100% cumulative detectability thresholds, which were derived from frequency-magnitude distribution. From this analysis the 100% level of detectability of the network is M L=1.7 for events which occur within the network. The accuracy in hypocentral solutions of the network is investigated by considering the fixed real hypocenter within the network. The epicentral errors are found to be less than 4 km when the events occur within the network. Finally, the problems faced during continuous operation of the local network, which effects its detectability, are discussed. 展开更多

The method is based on the correlation between the arrival times and station positions. The analyzed results indicate that the azimuth and slowness of teleseismic signals can be accurately estimated by the method. Average errors for azimuth and slowness measurements obtained by this method using data of Xian Digital Telemetry Seismic Network are 2.0?and 0.34 s/(?, respectively. The conclusions drawn from this study indicate that this method may be very useful to interpret teleseismic records of local seismic networks. 展开更多

The paper describes the hardware system, wireless communication strategy, communication procedure and system software of the robot. The WLAN technology is used in the robot. It solves the problem of shielding generated by iron boiler and 11Mbps bandwidth made it possible for video and control stream real-time transmit within the same channel. Though TCP/IP protocol is robust, serial server is a transparent channel but cannot detect error and retransmit the data. In order to improve the reliability of serial communication, a new communication protocol is proposed.
