Analysis of the discrete contact characteristics based on the Greenwood-Williamson model and the localization principle

The contact of a rigid body with nominally flat rough surface and an elastic half-space is considered.To solve the contact problem,the Greenwood-Williamson statistical model and the localization principle are used.The developed contact model allows us to investigate the surface approach and the real contact area with taking into account the asperities interaction.It is shown that the mutual influence of asperities changes not only contact characteristics at the macroscale,but also the contact pressure distribution at the microscale.As follows from the results,the inclusion in the contact model of the effect of the mutual influence of asperities is especially significant for studying the real contact area,as well as the contact characteristics at high applied loads.The results calculated according to the proposed approach are in a good agreement with the experimentally observed effects,i.e.,the real contact area saturation and the additional compliance exhaustion. 展开更多

With the explosion of services in grid environment, it's necessary to develop a mechanism which has the ability of discovering suitable grid services efficiently. This paper attempts to establish a layered resource management model based on the locality principle which classifies services into different domains and virtual organizations (VOs) according to their shared purposes. We propose an ontologybased search method applying the ontology theory for characterizing semantic information. In addition, we extend the UD- D1 in querying, storing, and so on. Simulation experiments have shown that our mechanism achieves higher performance in precision, recall and query response time. 展开更多

The matter about some far-going consequences commencing from the replacement of one of the basic principles of the traditional physics that is the principle of locality, with the recently put forward principle of boundedness is considered. It is proven that the thermodynamic theory which is explicitly grounded on the principle of locality, suffers inherent contradiction which roots lay down to the principle of locality. The way to overcome it goes via the replacement of the principle of locality with the recently put forward by the author principle of boundedness. In turn, the latter gives rise not only to a fundamentally novel notion for a number of ideas but also it yields replacement of the proportionality between the software and hardware components with a new non-extensive approach to the matter. It is proven that the famous Moore’s law stands in new reading both in its support and the way to overcome its limitations. Apart from its role for the technical applications, the present considerations stand also as a methodological example how the role of the basics of any theory affects practical rules such as the Moore’s law. 展开更多

The computer implementation process of the local balance principle is described in detail and three examples are illustrated to show the feasibility of this principle.
