The biaxially textured ion beam-assisted deposited(IBAD)-MgO templates were successfully prepared on polycrystalline Hastelloy metal substrate with reel-to-reel system for YB2Cu3O7-d(YBCO)-coated conductors.By the sol...The biaxially textured ion beam-assisted deposited(IBAD)-MgO templates were successfully prepared on polycrystalline Hastelloy metal substrate with reel-to-reel system for YB2Cu3O7-d(YBCO)-coated conductors.By the solution deposition planarization technique,amorphous Y2O3films were coated on untreated Hastelloy substrate as the bed layer to obtain smooth,dense,and crack-free surface for subsequent IBAD-MgO deposition.The 50 m long IBAD-MgO and homo-epitaxial(epi)-MgO buffer layers deposited on Y2O3films exhibit excellent crystallographic consistency along the scope with full width half maximum(FWHM)values of(110)DU and(200)Dx in the range of 5.5°–6.0°and3.0°–3.5°,respectively.To match the lattice constant of YBCO material,LaMnO3cap layer was fabricated on IBAD-MgO templates by radio frequency(rf)magnetron sputtering with the FWHM values of in-plane and out-ofplane of 6.8°and 3.7°,respectively,indicating excellent biaxial texture.展开更多

Due to the high permittivity of the polymer film, at proper polymer film thicknesses, the index-matching condition of the dielectrics at both sides of the metal can be satisfied for supporting LRSPP modes, and the electromagnetic field above the metal can be localized well. It is found that these LRSPP modes have both long propagation lengths and subwavelength mode expansion above the metal at the optimal polymer film thickncsses. Furthermore, the requirements on the refractive index and the thickness of the polymer film to support LRSPP modes at the optimal thicknesses are found to be not critical.展开更多

The suggested site is the gluteal muscle with a needle length of two inches (50 mm) in Japan, which is longer...Risperidone long-acting injectable (RLAI) is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in many countries. The suggested site is the gluteal muscle with a needle length of two inches (50 mm) in Japan, which is longer than the ordinarily used needle for intramuscular injections. The aim of this study was to determine the optimal needle insertion length for accurate delivery of RLAI procedure among subjects who have normal body mass index (BMI: 18 to 25) and high BMI (>25). Thirty-seven patients with schizophrenia were administered RLAI intramuscularly into the dorsogluteal muscle. The standard procedure required inserting 80% of the two inch needle. By using data collected by ultrasonography, the findings confirmed that the median needle insertion lengths for subjects with normal and high BMI were 39.0 and 45.5 mm, respectively. To deliver RLAI effectively and safely, the authors strongly recommend that a specialized needle be used that is “marked” at the 40 mm point from the tip of the needle to the base. In this way regardless of subcutaneous fat content, the RLAI can be safely delivered into the muscle without causing untoward or side effects.展开更多

It also finds that the ECL has a better power law relation with the long-range correlated exponent γ of the LRCS: T = Kexp(-γ/0.3) + Y, (0 〈 γ〈 1) the predictability of the LRCS decays exponentially with the increase of γ It is then applied to a daily maximum temperature series (DMTS) recorded at 740 stations in China between the years 1960-2005 and calculates the ECL of the DMTS. The results show the remarkable regional distributive feature that the ECL is about 10-14 days in west, northwest and northern China, and about 5-10 days in east, southeast and southern China. Namely, the predictability of the DMTS is higher in central-west China than in east and southeast China. In addition, the ECL is reduced by 1-8 days in most areas of China after subtracting the seasonal oscillation signal of the DMTS from its original DMTS; however, it is only slightly altered when the decadal linear trend is removed from the original DMTS. Therefore, it is shown that seasonal oscillation is a significant component of daily maximum temperature evolution and may provide a basis for predicting daily maximum temperatures. Seasonal oscillation is also significant for guiding general weather predictions, as well as seasonal weather predictions.展开更多

The long period part of seismic influence curve presented in 'Architecture Aseismic Design Code'(GBJ11 89) is less than 3 s, and uncertainties exist in the effects of earthquake safety evaluation. In the method , the parabolic relationship between GSLW and the wave envelope is first deduced , and then the distribution function of GSLW amplitude is derived . Thus, the formulae in terms of the moments of GSLW and short wave spectra for the average time duration and the mean length of runs of wave heights exceeding a certain level can be derived . A new groupiness factor equivalent to half the mean wave number in wave groups is defined by taking into account the widths of spectra of GSLW and short waves . In this study, we compared the eff...A preliminary study by our research group showed that 6-mm-long regeneration chamber bridging is equivalent to autologous nerve transplantation for the repair of 12-mm nerve defects. In this study, we compared the efficacy of different lengths (6, 8, 10 mm) of nerve fragments bridging 6-mm regeneration chambers for the repair of 12-mm-long nerve defects. At 16 weeks after the regeneration chamber was implanted, the number, diameter and myelin sheath thickness of the regenerated nerve fibers, as well as the conduction velocity of the sciatic nerve and gastrocnemius muscle wet weight ratio, were similar to that observed with autologous nerve transplantation. Our results demonstrate that 6-, 8-and 10-mm-long nerve fragments bridging 6-mm regeneration chambers effectively repair 12-mm-long nerve defects. Because the chemoattractive capacity is not affected by the length of the nerve fragment, we suggest adopting 6-mm-long nerve fragments for the repair of peripheral nerve defects.展开更多
A three-stage theoretical model is presented herein to predict the perforation of a thick metallic plate struck normally by a long rod at high velocities. The model is suggested on the basis of the assumption that the...A three-stage theoretical model is presented herein to predict the perforation of a thick metallic plate struck normally by a long rod at high velocities. The model is suggested on the basis of the assumption that the perforation of a thick metallic plate by a long rod can be divided into three stages:(1) initial penetration;(2) plug formation and (3) plug slipping and separation. Various analytical equations are derived which can be employed to predict the ballistic limit, residual velocity and residual length of the long rod. It is demonstrated that the present model predictions are in good agreement with available experimental results for the perforation of finite steel targets struck normally by steel as well as tungsten alloy long rods at high velocities. It is also demonstrated that the dynamic maximum shear stress of a plate material has strong effect on plug formation and plug thickness which, in turn, exerts considerable influence on the residual velocities and lengths of a long rod at impact velocities just above the ballistic limit.展开更多
