Since the novel was published in 1891, scholars have been studying it from various perspectives. Wilde expressed plentiful epigrams about love by conversations in the novel, and he once compared himself with characters in it, which provides possibility and clues for probing into his view of love through the novel. Starting from the description of women characters, Dorian's relationship with Basil and Henry, and some stories of marriage in the novel, the paper analyzes Wilde's aesthetic and pessimistic view of love and his advocacy for Greek love based on the British society then and Wilde's own experiences.展开更多
