A low complexity LDPC decoder for the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) standard is achieved in DSP. An ap- proximate decoding algorithm, normalized rain-sum algorithm, is used in the implementation for its low amounts of computation. To reduce the performance loss caused by the approximation, the pa- rameters of the normalized min-sum algorithm are determined by calculating and finding the mini- mum value of thresholds through density evolution. The minimum value which indicates the best per- formance of the decoding algorithm is corresponding with the optimized parameters. In implementa- tion, the memory cost is saved by decomposing the parity-check matrix into submatrices to store and the computation of passing message in decoding is accelerated by using the intrinsic function of DSP. The performance of the decoder with optimized factors is simulated and compared with the ideal BP decoder. The result shows they have about the same performance.展开更多

The proposed decoding procedure updates the hard-decision received symbol vector iteratively in search of a valid codeword in the symbol vector space. Only one symbol is flipped in each iteration, and symbol flipping function, which is employed as the symbol flipping metric, combines the number of failed checks and the reliabilities of the received bits and calculated symbols. A scheme to avoid infinite loops and select one symbol to flip in high order Galois field search is also proposed. The design of flipping pattern's order and depth, which is dependent of the computational requirement and error performance, is also proposed and exemplified. Simulation results show that the algorithm achieves an appealing tradeoff between performance and computational requirement over relatively low Galois field for short to medium code length.展开更多

Firstly the good points in every line of the p-plane can be ascertained through filtering the bad points, because the designed parity-check matrixes using these points have the short cycles in Tanner graph of codes. Then one of the best points from the residual good points of every line in the p-plane will be found, respectively. The optimal point is also singled out according to the bit error rate (BER) performance of the QC-LDPC codes at last. Explicit necessary and sufficient conditions for the QC-LDPC codes to have no short cycles are presented which are in favor of removing the bad points in the p-plane. Since preventing the short cycles also prevents the small stopping sets, the proposed construction method also leads to QC-LDPC codes with a higher stopping distance.展开更多

To solve the problem, some theorems of the specific chosen parity-check matrix of QC-LDPC codes without small stopping sets and small girth are proposed. In the RC-LDPC convolutional family, each extended sub-matrix of each extended code is obtained by choosing specified elements from two fixed matrices HE1K and HE1K, which are derived by modifying the extended matrices HE1 and HE2 of a systematic RC-LDPC block code. The proposed method which is based on graph extension simplifies the design, and prevent the defects caused by the puncturing method. It can be used to generate both regular and irregular RC-LDPC convolutional codes. All resulted codes in the family are systematic which simplify the encoder structure and have maximum encoding memories which ensure the property. Simulation results show the family collectively offer a steady improvement in performance with code compatibility over binary-input additive white Gaussian noise channel(BI-AWGNC).展开更多

文摘In this paper, we propose a new method to derive a family of regular rate-compatible low-density parity-check(RC-LDPC) convolutional codes from RC-LDPC block codes. Simulation results show the family collectively offer a steady improvement in performance with code compatibility over binary-input additive white Gaussian noise channel(BI-AWGNC).

文摘By exploiting the structural features of L1C messages,a novel Early Termination( ET) strategy is proposed to speed up the decoding of low-density parity-check( LDPC) codes in the GPS system. The proposed strategy is based on the cyclic redundancy check( CRC) of the messages in the subframes 2 and 3. The simulation results show that average number of iterations of the proposed strategy is less than that of the standard ET strategy, with nearly no degradation in decoding performance. Besides, the proposed ET strategy can be efficiently implemented in a sequential or parallel manner. Thus, the proposed ET strategy is attractive for practical purposes.

文摘The single-carrier block transmission(SCBT),a.k.a.,single-carrier frequency-domain equalization(SC-FDE),is being considered as an option technique for the wireless personal area network(WPAN) operating at 60 GHz.It is found that for residential environment,in non-line-of-sight(NLOS) multi-path channels, the SCBT is much more effective to combat the inter-symbol interference(ISI) compared with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM).Low-density parity-check(LDPC) codes are a class of linear block codes which provide near capacity performance on a large collection of data transmission and storage channels while simultaneously admitting implementable decoders. To facilitate using LDPC codes for SCBT system,a new log-likelihood ratio(LLR) calculation method is proposed based on pilot symbols(PS).Golay Sequences whose sum autocorrelation has a unique peak and zero sidelobe are used for creating the PS.The position and length of the PS are not fixed in the data blocks. The simulation results show that the proposed method can significantly improve the LDPC decoding performance in SCBT system. This is very promising to support ultra high-data-rate wireless transmission.
