Low-molecular-weight heparin and preeclampsia—does the sword cut both ways?Three case reports and review of literature

BACKGROUND Low-molecular-weight heparins(LMWH)are the most commonly used anticoagulants during pregnancy.It is considered to be the drug of choice due to its safety in not crossing placenta.Considering the beneficial effect in the improvement of microcirculation,prophylactic application of LMWH in patients with preeclampsia became a trend.However,the bleeding risk related with LMWH in preeclampsia patients has seldomly been evaluated.This current study aimed to identify the potential risks regarding LMWH application in patients with preeclampsia.CASE SUMMARY Herein we present a case series of three pregnant women diagnosed with preeclampsia on LMWH therapy during pregnancy.All the cases experienced catastrophic hemorrhagic events.After reviewing the twenty-one meta-analyses,the bleeding risk related with LMWH seems ignorable.Only one study analyzed the bleeding risk of LMWH and found a significantly higher risk of developing PPH in women receiving LMWH.Other studies reported minor bleeding risks,none of these were serious enough to stop LMWH treatment.Possibilities of bleeding either from uterus or from intrabdominal organs in preeclampsia patients on LMWH therapy should not be ignored.Intensive management of blood pressure even after delivery and homeostasis suture in surgery are crucial.CONCLUSION Consideration should be given to the balance between benefits and risks of LMWH in patients with preeclampsia. 展开更多

Fucoidan,a sulfate polysaccharide obtained from brown seaweed,has various bioactive properties,including anti-inflammatory,anti-cancer,anti-viral,anti-oxidant,anti-coagulant,anti-thrombotic,anti-angiogenic,and anti-Helicobacter pylori properties.However,the effects of low-molecular-weight fucoidan(LMW-F)on melanoma cell lines and three dimensional(3D)cell culture models are not well understood.This study aimed to investigate the effects of LMW-F on A375 human melanoma cells and cryopreserved biospecimens derived from patients with advanced melanoma.Ultrasonic wave was used to fragment fucoidan derived from Fucus vesiculosus into smaller LMW-F.MTT and live/dead assays showed that LMW-F inhibited cell proliferation in both A375 cells and patientderived melanoma explants in a 3D-printed collagen scaffold.The PTEN/AKT pathway was found to be involved in the anti-melanoma effects of fucoidan.Western blot analysis revealed that LMW-F reduced the phosphorylation of Bcl-2 at Thr 56,which was associated with the prevention of anti-apoptotic activity of cancer cells.Our findings suggested that LMW-F could enhance anti-melanoma chemotherapy and improve the outcomes of patients with melanoma resistance. 展开更多

Three materials(agar,konjac glucomannan(KGM)andκ-carrageenan)were used to prepare ternary systems,i.e.,sol-gels and their dried composites conditioned at varied relative humidity(RH)(33%,54%and 75%).Combined methods,e.g.,scanning electron microscopy,small-angle X-ray scattering,infrared spectroscopy(IR)and X-ray diffraction(XRD),were used to disclose howκ-carrageenan addition tailors the features of agar/KGM/κ-carrageenan ternary system.As affirmed by IR and XRD,the ternary systems withκ-carrageenan below 25%(agar/KGM/carrageenan,50:25:25,m/m)displayed proper component interactions,which increased the sol-gel transition temperature and the hardness of obtained gels.For instance,the ternary composites could show hardness about 3 to 4 times higher than that for binary counterpart.These gels were dehydrated to acquire ternary composites.Compared to agar/KGM composite,the ternary composites showed fewer crystallites and nanoscale orders,and newly-formed nanoscale structures from chain assembly.Such multi-scale structures,for composites withκ-carrageenan below 25%,showed weaker changes with RH,as revealed by especially morphologic and crystalline features.Consequently,the ternary composites with lessκ-carrageenan(below 25%)exhibited stabilized elongation at break and hydrophilicity at different RHs.This hints to us that agar/KGM/κ-carrageenan composite systems can display series applications with improved features,e.g.,increased sol-gel transition point. 展开更多

The collision cross-sections(CCS)measurement using ion mobility spectrometry(IMS)in combination with mass spectrometry(MS)offers a great opportunity to increase confidence in metabolite identification.However,owing to the lack of sensitivity and resolution,IMS has an analytical challenge in studying the CCS values of very low-molecular-weight metabolites(VLMs250 Da).Here,we describe an analytical method using ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography(UPLC)coupled to a traveling wave ion mobility-quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometer optimized for the measurement of VLMs in human urine samples.The experimental CCS values,along with mass spectral properties,were reported for the 174 metabolites.The experimental data included the mass-to-charge ratio(m/z),retention time(RT),tandem MS(MS/MS)spectra,and CCS values.Among the studied metabolites,263 traveling wave ion mobility spectrometry(TWIMS)-derived CCS values(TWCCSN2)were reported for the first time,and more than 70%of these were CCS values of VLMs.The TWCCSN2 values were highly repeatable,with inter-day variations of<1%relative standard deviation(RSD).The developed method revealed excellent TWCCSN2 accuracy with a CCS difference(DCCS)within±2%of the reported drift tube IMS(DTIMS)and TWIMS CCS values.The complexity of the urine matrix did not affect the precision of the method,as evidenced by DCCS within±1.92%.According to the Metabolomics Standards Initiative,55 urinary metabolites were identified with a confidence level of 1.Among these 55 metabolites,53(96%)were VLMs.The larger number of confirmed compounds found in this study was a result of the addition of TWCCSN2 values,which clearly increased metabolite identification confidence. 展开更多

Results showed that amount of low- molecular-weight aliphatic acids in soils alone varied considerably with water regime under which the soil was incubated,duration of incubation and soil organic matter content, ranging from 257-860 pmol kg-1 soil I of which 19%~33% was in free state. Incorporation of plant materials increased greatly both the amount and number of members of low- molecular- weight aliphaticacidst and also the proporticn of low-molec "far-weight aliphatic acids occurred in free state. Generally, among these aliphatic acids detected, acetic, propionic, glyoxalic and formic acids were predominant. 展开更多

Dissolution of Aluminum in Variably Charged Soils as Affected by Low-Molecular-Weight Organic Acids 被引量:23

Low-molecular-weight (LMW) organic acids exist widely in soils and play an important role in soil processes such as mineral weathering, nutrient mobilization and A1 detoxification. In this research, a batch experiment was conducted to examine the effects of LMW organic acids on dissolution of aluminum in two variably charged soils, an Ultisol and an Oxisol. The results showed that the LMW organic acids enhanced the dissolution of A1 in the two investigated soils in the following order: citric 〉 oxalic 〉 malonic 〉 malic 〉 tartaric 〉 salicylic 〉 lactic 〉 maleic. This was generally in agreement with the magnitude of the stability constants for the Al-organic complexes. The effects of LMW organic acids on Al dissolution were greater in the Ultisol than in the Oxisol as compared to their controls. Also, the accelerating effects of citric and oxalic acids on dissolution of A1 increased with an increase in pH, while the effects of lactic and salicylic acids decreased. Additionally, when the organic acid concentration was less than 0.2 mmol L-I, the dissolution of A1 changed Iittle with increase in acid concentration. However, when the organic acid concentration was greater than 0.2 mmol L^-1,the dissolution of A1 increased with increase in acid concentration. In addition to the acid first dissociation constant and stability constant of Al-organic complexes, the promoting effects of LMW organic acids on dissolution of A1 were also related to their sorption-desorption equilibrium in the soils. 展开更多

Gelatin extracted from the body wall of the sea cucumber (Stichopus japonicus) was hydrolyzed with flavourzyme. Low-molecular-weight gelatin hydrolysate (LMW-GH) of 700-- 1700 Da was produced using an ultrafiltration membrane bioreaetor system. Chemiluminescence analysis revealed that LMW-GH scavenges high free radicals in a concentration-dependent manner; IC50 value for superoxide and hydroxyl radicals was 442 and 285 μgmL-1, respectively. LMW-GH exhibited excellent inhibitory characteristics against melanin synthesis and tyrosinase activity in B16 cells. Furthermore, LMW-GH notably increased in- traeellular glutathione (GSH), which in turn suppressed melanogenesis. LMW-GH performs antioxidation activity, holding the potential of being used as a valuable ingredient in function foods, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals or nutriceuticals. 展开更多

Most research in the past using genetically modified crops (GM crops) has focused on the ecological safety of foreign gene (i.e., the gene flow), gene products (for example, Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) protein), and the safety of transgenic food for humans. In this study, changes in both the species and amounts of low-molecular-weight components in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) root exudates after foreign Bt gene overexpression were investigated under different nutritional conditions. Transgenic cotton containing Bt (Bt-cotton), supplemented with all the mineral nutrients, secreted more organic acids than the wild-type cotton (WT). When nitrogen was removed from the full-nutrient solution, the amount of organic acids secretion of Bt-cotton was lesser than that of WT. The roots of the transgenic cotton secreted lesser amounts of amino acids and soluble sugars than the WT roots in the full-nutrient solution. Deficiencies of P and K caused a large increase in the total amino acid and soluble sugar secretions of both Bt-cotton and WT, with larger increases observed in Bt-cotton. Because transferring the foreign Bt gene into cotton can result in alterations in the components of the root exudates, with the effect varying depending on the nutritional status, the cultivation of genetically modified crops, such as Bt-cotton, in soil environments should be more carefully assessed, and the possible effects as a result of the alterations in the root exudate components should be considered. 展开更多

BACKGROUND:To investigate the clinical effectiveness of a pneumatic compression device(PCD)combined with low-molecular-weight heparin(LMWH)for the prevention and treatment of deep vein thrombosis(DVT)in trauma patients.METHODS:This study retrospectively analyzed 286 patients with mild craniocerebral injury and clavicular fractures admitted to our department from January 2016 to February 2020.Patients treated with only LMWH served as the control group,and patients treated with a PCD combined with LMWH as the observation group.The incidence of DVT,postoperative changes in the visual analogue scale(VAS)score,and coagulation function were observed and compared between the two groups.Excluding the influence of other single factors,binary logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the use of a PCD in the patient’s postoperative coagulation function.RESULTS:After excluding 34 patients who did not meet the inclusion criteria,252 patients were were included.The incidence of DVT in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(5.6%vs.15.1%,χ^(2)=4.605,P<0.05).The postoperative VAS scores of the two groups were lower than those before surgery(P<0.05).The coagulation function of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group,with a better combined anticoagulant effect(P<0.05).There were no significant differences between the two groups in preoperative or postoperative Glasgow Coma Scale scores,intraoperative blood loss,postoperative infection rate,or length of hospital stay(P>0.05).According to logistic regression analysis,the postoperative risk of DVT in patients who received LMWH alone was 1.764 times that of patients who received LMWH+PCD(P<0.05).The area under the receiver operating characteristic(AUROC)curve of partial thromboplastin time(APTT)and platelet(PLT)were greater than 0.5,indicating that they were the influence indicators of adding PCD to prevent DVT.Excluding the influence of other variables,LMWH+PCD effectively improved the coagulation function of patients.CONCLUSIONS:Compared with LMWH alone,LMWH+PCD could improve blood rheology and coagulation function in patients with traumatic brain injury and clavicular fracture,reduce the incidence of DVT,shorten the length of hospital stay,and improve the clinical effectiveness of treatment. 展开更多

AIM:To investigate the antiangiogenic effects and safety of topically administered low-molecular-weight heparintaurocholate 7(LHT7) on corneal neovascularization(CoNV).METHODS:Twenty-four Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly distributed into four groups of six rats each.The central corneas were cauterized using a silver/potassium nitrate solution.From 2d after cauterization,12.5 mg/mL(low LHT7 group) or 25 mg/mL(high LHT7group) LHT7 was topically administered three times daily;12.5 mg/mL bevacizumab was topically administered as positive control(bevacizumab) group,with normal saline(NS) administered as negative control(NS group).The corneas were digitally photographed to calculate the CoNV percentage from the neovascularized corneal area at 1 and 2wk.RESULTS:The 4 study groups did not have different CoNV percentages at 1wk after injury(P〉0.05).However,the low LHT,high LHT,and bevacizumab groups had significantly lower CoNV percentages than the NS group at 2wk(all P〈0.05).No significant differences in CoNV percentage were found among the low LHT,high LHT,and bevacizumab groups(all P〉0.05).All groups except the NS group had lower CoNV percentages at 2wk postinjury than the levels observed at 1wk(all P〈0.05).CONCLUSION:Topically-administered LHT7 inhibited CoNV without complication after chemical cauterization in the rat. 展开更多

Background Given the increasing number of patients who require dual antiplatelet (DAP) therapy and electrophysiological device (EPD) placement, perioperative antiplatelet management is a current challenge. In this study, we investigated the incidence of pocket hema-toma formation after EPD placement in patients undergoing DAP therapy or an alternative low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) regimen. Methods This clinical observational study was performed from July 2010 to July 2012. In total, 171 patients were enrolled in the analysis after meeting the inclusion criteria. These patients were divided into two groups: 86 patients were treated with DAP therapy at the time of device implantation, and the DAP therapy was discontinued for 5 to 7 days and replaced with enoxaparin before device implantation in the other 85 patients. Adenosine phosphate (ADP)-mediated platelet aggregation and arachidonic acid-induced platelet aggregation were tested preoperatively. We compared the incidence of pocket hematoma between the two groups and the association of pocket hematoma develop-ment with ADP-mediated platelet aggregation and arachidonic acid-induced platelet aggregation.Results The incidence of pocket hema-toma in the patients who continued DAP was lower than that in the patients who replaced the dual antiplatelet regimen with LMWH (3.49%vs. 16.47%, respectively;X2 = 6.66,P 〈 0.01). Among the patients who continued DAP therapies, the rate of ADP-mediated platelet aggre-gation inhibition in patients with pocket hematomas was higher than that in patients without pocket hematomas. None of the patients under-going DAP or enoxaparin therapy developed pocket infection, thromboembolic events, or other serious complications. Multiple logistic re-gression analysis revealed that LMWH therapy was an independent risk factor for the development of pocket hematoma (RR = 0.054, 95%CI = 0.012-0.251). Furthermore, patients undergoing LMWH therapy were 5.1-fold more likely to develop pocket hematomas than were DAP-treated individuals.Conclusion Continuance of DAP therapy does not increase the risk of pocket hematoma formation after EPD placement. 展开更多

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the combined effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) decoction and low-molecular-weight heparin calcium on deep vein thrombosis(DVT) induced by surgery in patients with lower limb fracture.METHODS: Totally 86 hospitalized patients with DVT after surgery of lower limb fracture between September 2012 and January 2015 were recruited and randomly divided into control group and observation group, 43 cases in each group. The patients in the control group were treated with subcutaneous injection of low-molecular-weight heparin calcium, and those in the observation group were additionally given Danshen Injection and TCM decoction. The differences between two groups in occurrence rate, medication time, therapeutic effects,recurrence rate of thrombosis, activated partial thromboplastin time(APTT), and prothrombin time(PT) were compared.RESULTS: The occurrence rate of DVT in observation group(4.65%, 2/43) was lower than that in control group(27.91%,12/43)(P<0.05). The medication time of observation group was(6.15±2.94) d, shorter than(9.76±3.12) d in the control group(P<0.05). In observation group, 2 cases of DVT were cured(2/2); in the control group, 9 cases presented therapeutic effects and the total effective rate was 75.00%(9/12). The improvement of APTT and PT in the observation group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Integrative TCM decoction plus low-molecularweight heparin calcium is superior to applicaton of low-molecularweight heparin calcium alone in reducing and treating DVT in the postoperative patients with lower limb fracture. 展开更多

Carrageenans are widely utilized in many commercial applications such as the food and pharmaceutical industry, due to their excellent functional properties. In this study, a sensitive LC-MS/MS method was developed to determine κ-3, κ-5, and κ-7 carrageenan oligosaccharides simultaneously. Optimum MRM transitions for κ-3, κ-5, and κ-7 carrageenan oligosaccharides were(645.079→565.111, [M-H]-),(515.137→474.946, [M-2H]^2-), and(471.484→445, [M-3H]^3-), respectively. Chromatographic separation was performed on an Amide column coupled with a guard column operated at 60℃ under stepwise gradient elution. The linearity of the LC-MS/MS method for κ-3, κ-5, and κ-7 carrageenan oligosaccharides, evaluated over the concentration range of 0.10- 20.0 μmol L^-1, was excellent. The precisions of the method for κ-3, κ-5, and κ-7 carrageenan oligosaccharides were from 0.91% to 9.66%, and the inter-day precisions were from 0.92% to 10.5%. Validation of the LC-MS/MS method indicated that the method was precise and in line with the CFDA guidance. This method has been successfully applied to an in vitro absorption study. 展开更多

Water treatment residuals( WTRs) are safe by-products of water treatment plants and are cost-efficient adsorbents. In this study, batch experiments and column experiments based on WTRs were employed to study the characteristics of P adsorption and the effects of lowmolecular-weight organic acids( LMWOAs)( citric acid, oxalic acid,and tartaric acid) on P adsorption. Different models of adsorption were used to describe equilibrium and kinetic data. The adsorption data were fitted well by a pseudo-second order kinetic model. The adsorption process was determined to be controlled by three steps of diffusion mechanisms through the intra-particle model.The adsorption equilibrium was well described by the Langmuir,Freundlich,Redlich-Peterson,and Sips isotherm models. Batch and continuous flow experiments indicated that the LMWOAs exhibited inhibitory action,and as pH increased,the inhibitory action became weaker for all the three acids. The effect of LMWOAs concentration was not significant on inhibition. The effects of LMWOAs were closely related to reaction time. 展开更多

Background: Global guidelines for venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis of patients undergoing major surgery are well established. However, their applicability and safety in patients receiving neuraxial anesthesia is unproven. We sought to evaluate the safety and feasibility of chemical VTE prophylaxis in a prospective group of patients undergoing major foregut procedures under a combination of epidural and general anesthesia. Methods: A prospective database of all patients undergoing major foregut surgery from 2004-2009 was maintained and analyzed. Epidural catheters were placed pre-operatively and used for post-operative analgesia for three days in all patients. Factors evaluated included age, ethnicity, sex, length of stay, duration of epidural placement, complications of epidural placement and post-operative management, and VTE events. A uniform protocol was followed regarding the timing of low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) administration with epidural catheter insertion/removal. Results: A total of 237 patients formed the study group. The mean age was 57 years (range, 19 - 88) among 121 (51.1%) women and 65 years (range, 20 - 95) among 116 (48.9%) men. One hundred and sixty-six patients were Caucasian (70%), 37 Black (15.6%), 15 Hispanic (6.3%), 12 Asian/Pacific (5.1%), and 7 other (3%). All epidural catheters were removed on the third post-operative day. There were a total of five VTE (2.1%) events postoperatively. No peri-operative or post-operative epidural catheter associated complications occurred. Conclusions: Concomitant epidural catheterization and LMWH anticoagulation is safe and feasible in major abdominal surgery patients, including those undergoing major hepatic resection. Guidelines for VTE prophylaxis and LMWH administration in the setting of neuraxial anesthesia are well established and applicable to this unique patient population. 展开更多

Outpatient subcutaneous (s.c.) therapies are becoming more and more common in the treatment of different diseases. The effectiveness of community-pharmacy-based interventions in preventing problems that arise during s.c. self-injections of low-molecular-weight heparins (LMWH) is unknown. Our objective was to provide a standard operating procedure (SOP) for community pharmacists and to compare pharmaceutical vs. standard care in both clinical and daily life settings. We hypothesized that: pharmaceutical care results in improved adherence, safety, and satisfaction, and in fewer complications;the interventions used are feasible in daily life;and the results achieved in clinical and daily life settings are comparable. In the clinical setting (randomized controlled trial), patients were recruited sequentially in hospital wards;in the daily life setting (quasi-experimental design with a comparison group), recruitment took place in community pharmacies by pharmacists and trained master students during their internship. Interventions were offered according to patient needs. Data were collected by means of a monitored self-injection at home and structured questionnaire-based telephone interviews at the beginning and the end of the LMWH treatment. The main outcome measures were: scores to assess patient’s skills;syringe count to assess adherence;and frequency, effectiveness, and patient’s assessment of received interventions. The results show a median age of the 139 patients of 54 years. Interventions resulted in improved application quality (p p = 0.03). Oral instructions were pivotal for improving patients’ application quality. We found no significant score differences between the intervention groups in the clinical and daily life settings. Patients’ baseline skills were high, with the lowest score being 0.86 (score range ?2.00 to +2.00). Adherence rate was high (95.8%). In conclusion, our SOP for pharmacist interventions was of good quality, adequate, appreciated, and feasible in daily life. Patients are capable of managing s.c. injection therapies if adequate assistance is provided. 展开更多

Objective: In the present study, we report on the results of our investigation of optimum dose monitoring using coagulation and fibrinolytic system indicators during obstetric prophylactic anticoagulant therapy with enoxaparin. Study Design: Of 103 cases of cesarean section performed at our hospital, 37 cases were selected for this study after obtain ing their consent for blood collection. Variables of the coagulation and fibrinolytic systems [anti-factor Xa activity, endogenous thrombin potential (ETP), prothrombin time (PT) or international normalized ratio (INR), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) and D-dimer levels] were determined. Results: In the 5-day administration group, the anti-factor Xa activitywas 0.0 U/ml on the postoperative day 1, increased to 0.05 U/ml ± 0.04 U/ml on the postoperative day 3, and mildly increased to 0.06 U/ml ± 0.05 U/ml on the postoperative day 5. On the other hand, the anti-factor Xa activity in the 3-day administration group was 0.0 U/ml on the postoperative day 1 (before enoxaparin administration), increased to 0.06 U/ml ± 0.05 U/ml on the postoperative day 3, and significantly decreased to 0.02 U/ml ± 0.03 U/ml on the postoperative day 5 (p = 0.003);thus, the pattern of change was significantly different from that in the 5-day administration group (p = 0.004). Enoxaparin administration did not result in any significant fluctuation of the ETP, and no significant difference was observed between the 5-day and 3-day administration groups. Conclusion: Enoxaparin administration was associated with increase of the anti-factor Xa activity, and prolonged administration led to more sustained increase of the activity. 展开更多

Before and after treatment, serum was collected respectively to determine the levels of placental hypoxia-related cytokines, and after delivery, the placentas were collected to detect oxidative stress indexes and cell apoptosis indexes.Results: After treatment, serum PLGF and PAPP-A levels of both groups were significantly higher than those before treatment while sFlt-1 and sEng levels were significantly lower than those before treatment, and after treatment, serum PLGF and PAPP-A levels of LMWH group were significantly higher than those of control group while sFlt-1 and sEng levels were significantly lower than those of control group;ROS and RNS levels as well as Fas, FasL, caspase-3 and caspase-8 protein expression in placenta tissue of LMWH group were significantly lower than those of control group while GPx-1, SOD-1 and Trx levels as well as Survivin, XIAP and Bcl-2 protein expression were significantly higher than those of control group.Conclusion:Adjuvant low-molecular-weight heparin therapy can relieve the placental hypoxia, improve oxidative stress reaction and inhibit cell apoptosis in puerperae with severe preeclampsia. 展开更多

The performance and stability of perovskite solar cells(PSCs)is limited by detrimental defects,mostly distributed at the grain boundary(GB)of bulk perovskite film and interface,which induce serious carrier non-radiative recombination.Therefore,there is particularly urgent to realize simultaneous passivation of bulk defects and interfacial defects.In this work,a simple,low-cost and effective multifunctional modification strategy is developed by introducing theλ-Carrageenan(λ-C)as the interfacial layer of SnO_(2)/perovskite.The sulfate groups ofλ-C not only play a positive role in passivating the Sn4+from SnO_(2)film,resulting in high conductivity,but also effectively passivate the defects at the SnO_(2)/perovskite interface.Meanwhile,λ-C can effectively passivate the defects in the perovskite film due to the strong binding force between the high content of sulfate groups and PbI2.The synergistic effect ofλ-C simultaneously achieves interfacial defects and bulk defects passivation,better crystalline quality,suppressed charge recombination,released interfacial stress and more favorable interfacial energy level alignment.Based on the above efficient synergy,theλ-C-modified device achieves a high efficiency of 23.81%,which is~24.53%higher than the control device(19.12%).To our best knowledge,23.81%of power conversion efficiency(PCE)is the highest reported PCE value of PSCs employing green natural additives.Moreover,long-term and thermal stabilities are significantly improved after interface modification.Thus,this work provides an idea for developing multifunctional natural materials towards the attainment of the efficient and stable PSCs. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Anticoagulation treatment after lower limb surgery is one of the key methods to avoid thrombosis,and low-molecular-weight heparin is the treatment that is most frequently used in clinical practice.But one uncommon side effect of lowmolecular-weight heparin is heparin-induced thrombocytopenia(HIT),which can develop into thrombosis if not caught early or managed incorrectly.CASE SUMMARY We present a case of a patient who underwent hip arthroplasty and experienced thrombocytopenia due to HIT on the 9th d following the application of lowmolecular-weight heparin anticoagulation.We did not diagnose HIT in time and applied 1 unit of platelets to the patient,which led to thrombosis.Luckily,the patient recovered following effective and timely surgery and treatment with rivaroxaban.CONCLUSION Patients using low-molecular-weight heparin after lower limb surgery need to have their platelet counts regularly checked.If HIT develops,platelet treatment should be given with caution. 展开更多
