It was late spring of 1980 when I was a reporter with Women of China magazine. Lugu Lake, 73.2-meter deep covering 52 square meters, is located 2,700-meter above sea level. This freshwater lake was formed by an ancient stratum sinking. It does not freeze in winter and teems with fishes and shrimp all year round.展开更多

Ahxia means "intimate friend" in the Mosuo tongue. If a couple loves one other, the man can spend nights in his Ahxia’s house and leave at daybreak. During the day, they work and live in their mothers’ houses, or with other maternal blood relations.展开更多

This paper deals with the vertical profile of the basic constituents such as Ca2 +, K +, Na+, and HCO3, as well as of pH in the overlying water mass and sediment porewater of Lake Lugu-a semi-closed, deep lake in Yunnan Province. The results revealed that those basic constituents may diffuse and transport from bottom sediments to overlying water mass through porewater. In the paper are also quantitatively evaluated the diffusive fluxes and the extent of their influence on overlying water mass, indicating that the lake sediment-water interface diffusion plays an important role in controling the basic chemical composition of water in the whole lake.展开更多
