A series of samples of different fibers, weaves and colors were investigated. The experiments show that the goniophotometric curves of fabrics change with constituent fibers, weave, dyeing and finishing, and experimental condition.The goniophotometric curves for fabrics of same kind with different colors are same in general shape, and the reflectance or the height of the curves are changed to the extent of that they are in proportion with the brightness or the tristimulus value Y of the samples. The goniophotometric curve also varies in form when the incident angle is changed. Discussion and explanation for the above mentioned are given. Luster of the samples was calculated with methods suggested by different indexing systems.展开更多
A rarely encountered sericite was investigated using X-ray diffraction,differential thermal analysis,and scanning electron microscopy.XRD analysis shows that the pattern of the sericite in the sample is similar to tha...A rarely encountered sericite was investigated using X-ray diffraction,differential thermal analysis,and scanning electron microscopy.XRD analysis shows that the pattern of the sericite in the sample is similar to that of illite.DTA (TG) analyses show that only a weak heat absorption reaction takes place at 566℃,which is contributed to the polymorphic transformation of quartz,and no change in mass was detected in the range from ambient temperature to 800℃.These reveal that no water escapes from the crystal structure of the clay mineral during heating and therefore indicated that the clay mineral is obviously sericite in species instead of illite.SEM observations show that the sericite particles are significantly small in size and growth steps and irregular structures develop on the crystal surfaces as well as the colored mineral inclusions,which might suggest some loss of optical properties of the sample and thus lead to the variance,with earthy luster of the aggregate,from typical sericite in optical characters.展开更多

Some criteria for cluster synchr...The cluster synchronization problem of complex dynamical networks with each node being a Lurie system with exter- nal disturbances and time-varying delay is investigated in this paper. Some criteria for cluster synchronization with desired H∞ performance are presented by using a local linear control scheme. Firstly, sufficient conditions are established to realize cluster synchronization of the Lurie dynamical networks without time delay. Then, the notion of the cluster synchronized region is introduced, and some conditions guaranteeing the cluster synchronized region and unbounded cluster synchro- nized region are derived. Furthermore, the cluster synchronization and cluster synchronized region in the Lurie dynamical networks with time-varying delay are considered. Numerical examples are finally provided to verify and illustrate the theoretical results.展开更多

A new surface strengthening technology, luster polish strengthening treatment, was proposed to treat the raceway surface of aeroengine bearings (9Cr18Mo) with the centrifugal strengthening machine exclusively design...A new surface strengthening technology, luster polish strengthening treatment, was proposed to treat the raceway surface of aeroengine bearings (9Cr18Mo) with the centrifugal strengthening machine exclusively designed for luster polish strengthening treatment. The experimental results showed that luster polish strengthening treatment produced a compressive residual stress layer with a depth of over 80 μm below the surface of the bearing raceway, and thus effectively removed the metamorphic layer in the raceway surface. After luster polish strengthening treatment, the average surface hardness of the aeroengine bearing raceway was increased from 61.02 HRC to 63.01 HRC, the surface roughness was reduced from 0.06 μm to 0.03 μm, and the contact fatigue life of the aeroengine bearings was improved by about 90%, with the dispersion of fatigue life being reduced remarkably. Theoretical calculation result agrees with that obtained by experiment.展开更多

We revealed by structural characterizations and optical ...In the beetle Goliathus cacicus, male elytra show silky luster with iridescence while female ones appear lusterless white without iridescence to our perception. We revealed by structural characterizations and optical measurements that elytral coloration and luster of both male and female beetles stem from the tubular scales on the elytra, whose interior is filled with a random structure. Distinct differences between male and female scales reside in the cortex thickness and the filling fraction of the random structure, which are important factors in the determination of the sexual dichromatic luster and iridescence. In additional to reflection peaks in the visible range, spectral measurements indicate that both male and female elytra display also strong iridescent ultraviolet (UV) reflections. Scattering spectra show that both male and female elytra display UV luster, although it is absent for female ones in the visible range.展开更多
