Environmental performance assessments of different methods of coal preparation for use in small-capacity boilers: experiment and theory

The purpose of this article is to receive environmental assessments of combustion of different types of coal fuel depending on the preparation(unscreened,size-graded,briquetted and heat-treated)in automated boilers and boilers with manual load-ing.The assessments were made on the basis of data obtained from experimental methods of coal preparation and calculated methods of determining the amount of pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions,as well as the mass of ash and slag waste.The main pollutants from coal combustion are calculated:particulate matter,benz(a)pyrene,nitrogen oxides,sulfur dioxide,carbon monoxide.Of the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide is calculated.As a result of conducted research it is shown that the simplest preliminary preparation(size-graded)of coal significantly improves combustion efficiency and environmental performance:emissions are reduced by 13%for hard coal and up to 20%for brown coal.The introduction of automated boil-ers with heat-treated coal in small boiler facilities allows to reduce emissions and ash and slag waste by 2-3 times.The best environmental indicators correspond to heat-treated lignite,which is characterized by the absence of sulfur dioxide emissions. 展开更多

The study was conducted to investigate the effects of replacing antibiotics using multi-enzyme preparations on growth performance,coefficient of total tract apparent digestibility,digestive enzyme activity,and antioxidant property in piglets.A total of 160 piglets((21.35±0.22)kg)were randomly assigned to five dietary treatments:1)basal diet supplemented with antibiotics(AC),2)antibiotic diet supplemented with 0.5 g kg^-1 multi-enzyme preparations(AC+0.5EP),3)antibiotic diet supplemented with 1.5 g kg^-1 multi-enzyme preparations(AC+1.5EP),4)basal diet supplemented with a half dosage of antibiotics and 1.5 g kg^-1 multi-enzyme preparations(AH+1.5EP),and 5)basal diet supplemented with 1.5 g kg^-1 multienzyme preparations(BC+1.5EP).The results showed that AC+1.5EP significantly improved the feed efficiency,apparent digestibility of ether extract(EE)and crude ash(CA),lipase activity in pancreas and duodenum content,maltase and lactase activity in jejunum and ileum mucosa,glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)concentration in serum and liver,and decreased malondialdehyde(MDA)concentration in serum and liver compared with piglets receiving AC(P〈0.05).Piglets receiving BC+1.5EP showed no significant difference in growth performance(P〉0.05)but had lower MDA concentration than piglets receiving AC(P〈0.05).The apparent digestibility of EE and crude fiber(CF),duodenal lipase activity,jejunum mucosa maltase,and ileum mucosa lactase activity of piglets receiving AH+1.5EP or BC+1.5EP were significantly improved compared with piglets receiving AC(P〈0.05).These results indicated an additive growth promotion effect between antibiotics and multi-enzyme preparations on piglets,and the multi-enzyme preparations may be used as substitutes for antibiotics for improving piglet production performance and health status. 展开更多

Lithium-sulfur battery(LSB)has brought much attention and concern because of high theoretical specific capacity and energy density as one of main competitors for next-generation energy storage systems.The widely commercial application and development of LSB is mainly hindered by serious“shuttle effect”of lithium polysulfides(Li PSs),slow reaction kinetics,notorious lithium dendrites,etc.In various structures of LSB materials,array structured materials,possessing the composition of ordered micro units with the same or similar characteristics of each unit,present excellent application potential for various secondary cells due to some merits such as immobilization of active substances,high specific surface area,appropriate pore sizes,easy modification of functional material surface,accommodated huge volume change,enough facilitated transportation for electrons/lithium ions,and special functional groups strongly adsorbing Li PSs.Thus many novel array structured materials are applied to battery for tackling thorny problems mentioned above.In this review,recent progresses and developments on array structured materials applied in LSBs including preparation ways,collaborative structural designs based on array structures,and action mechanism analyses in improving electrochemical performance and safety are summarized.Meanwhile,we also have detailed discussion for array structured materials in LSBs and constructed the structure-function relationships between array structured materials and battery performances.Lastly,some directions and prospects about preparation ways,functional modifications,and practical applications of array structured materials in LSBs are generalized.We hope the review can attract more researchers'attention and bring more studying on array structured materials for other secondary batteries including LSB. 展开更多

In this work,NiMo catalysts with various contents of MoO_(3)were prepared through incipient wetness impregnation by a twostep method(NMxA)and onepot method(NMxB).The catalysts were then characterized by XRD,XPS,NH3TPD,H_(2)TPR,HRTEM,and N_(2)adsorptiondesorption technologies.The performance of the NiMo/Al_(2)O_(3) catalysts was investigated by hydrocracking lowtemperature coal tar.When the MoO3 content was 15 wt%,the interaction between Ni species and Al_(2)O_(3) on the NM15B catalyst was stronger than that on the NM15A catalyst,resulting in the poor performance of the former.When the MoO^(3) content was 20 wt%,MoO_(3) agglomerated on the surface of the NM20A catalyst,leading to decreased number of active sites and specific surface area and reduced catalytic performance.The increase in the number of MoS_(2) stack layers strengthened the interaction between Ni and Mo species of the NM20B catalyst and consequently improved its catalytic performance.When the MoO_(3) content reached 25 wt%,the active metals agglomerated on the surface of the NiMo catalysts,thereby directly decreasing the number of active sites.In conclusion,the twostep method is suitable for preparing catalysts with large pore diameter and low MoO_(3) content loading,and the onepot method is more appropriate for preparing catalysts with large specific surface area and high MoO_(3) content.Moreover,the NMxA catalysts had larger average pore diameter than the NMxB catalysts and exhibited improved desulfurization performance. 展开更多

Effects of Crude Enzyme Preparation Supplemented to Barley Diet on the Performance, Hormone Levels and Biochemical Parameters in Gosling 被引量:1

Twenty four 7-day-old crossbred goslings (Chuan white×Tai lake) were divided randomly into control and treatment groups. Enzyme preparation was added in the diet of treatment group at dosage of 1 g/kg. The blood samples were collected from 60 day-old goslings via the wing vein. During the fifty-three days experiment, body weights were adopted measured each week, related hormone contents and biochemical parameters in plasma were determined. The results were as following:(1) Compared with control, body weight of treatment group were significantly higher (P<0.05) since 3-week-old goslings. The weight gains were significant higher (P<0.05) in (4~7) week-old goslings too, feed intake were increased and the "feed: body weight gain" was decreased; (2) Compared with control, growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) levels were dramatically enhanced by 36.62% (P<0.01) and 66.55% (P<0.01) respectively, while the level of β-endorphin (β-END) decreased by 51.66% (P<0.01); (3) Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and 3,3′,5-triiodothyronine (T3) contents in treatment group were 24.39% (P<0.05) and (16.81%) (P<0.05) higher than those of control, whereas thyroxine (T4) contents was lower by 18.33% (P<0.05), ratios of T3/T4 were increased; (4) Compared with control, insulin contents were elevated by 36.75% (P<0.01), while level of glucagon was reduced by 23.11% (P<0.01),ratios of insulin/glucagon were increased; (5) The activity of glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (GTP) was 4.46 fold higher than those of control (P<0.01) and uric acid content was reduced by 57.50% (P<0.01).These results indicate that enzyme preparation added in barley based diet can promote the gosling growth by improving the barely digestibility, carbohydrate metabolism and influencing the hormone levels. 展开更多

Furthermore, the industrial preparation of the property-modified prebaked anode lays the foundation of electrolysis test. Crumble rubber(CR)can be used to prepare CR and styrene-butadiene-styrene(SBS)composite modified asphalt with a good high-and low-temperature performance,meanwhile the addition of CR could work as the substitute for SBS and help reduce the content of SBS.This study contains three main parts:effect of preparation and effect of material composition as well as rheological performance characterization.Factors during the preparation,including shearing temperature,shearing time,mixing time and swelling time,were selected,while base binder,CR content,CR particle size and SBS content in material composition were considered.The effects of these factors were assessed in terms of the conventional performance(penetration,softening point,ductility and storage stability).After identifying these effects,the sample of CR and SBS modified asphalt at the selected preparing condition and material composition(CR/SBSMA)was made,and the corresponding SBS modified and CR modified asphalt(SBSMA and CRMA)were produced for the comparing reason.Subsequently,temperature sweeps from 0℃ to 80℃ were utilized to depict the viscoelasticity of these modified asphalt binders by complex modulus and phase angle.Multiple stress creep recovery tests(MSCR)at 64℃ and bending beam rheometer tests(BBR)at various low temperatures were employed to evaluate the high-and low-temperature performance,respectively.Results highlight that that CR/SBSMA could exhibit an excellent high-temperature performance(better than SBSMA),and a good low-temperature performance(reaching the level of base binder). 展开更多

Thermoelectric materials have drawn extensive interest due to the direct conversion between electricity and heat,however,it is usually a time-consuming process for applying traditional“sequential”meth-ods to grow materials and investigate their properties,especially for thermoelectric films that typically require fine microstructure control.High-throughput experimental approaches can effectively accelerate materials development,but the methods for high-throughput screening of the microstructures require further study.In this work,a combinatorial high-throughput optimization solution of material properties is proposed for the parallel screening and optimizing of composition and microstructure,which involves two distinctive types of high-throughput fabrication approaches for thin films,along with a new portable multiple discrete masks based high-throughput preparation platform.Thus,Bi_(2)Te_(3-x)Se_(x)thin film library with 196 throughputs for locating the optimized composition is obtained in one growth cycle.In addition,another thin film library composed of 31 materials with traceable process parameters is built to further investigate the relationship between microstructure,process,and thermoelectric performance.Through high-throughput screening,the Bi_(2)Te_(2.9)Se_(0.1)film with(00l)orientation is prepared with a peak zT value of 1.303 at 353 K along with a high average zT value of 1.047 in the interval from 313 to 523 K.This method can be also extended to the discovery of other functional thin films with a rapid combinatorial screening of the composition and structure to accelerate material optimization. 展开更多

Cylindrical nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery with high specific volume capacity was prepared by using the oxyhydroxide Ni(OH)2 and AB5 type hydrogen storage alloy and adjusting the designing parameters of positive and negative electrodes. The oxyhydroxide Ni(OH)2 was synthesized by oxidizing spherical β-Ni(OH)2 with chemical method. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns and the Fourier transform infrared (PT-IR) spectra indicated that 7-NiOOH was formed on the oxyhydroxide Ni(OH)2 powders, and some H2O molecules were inserted into their crystal lattice spacing. The battery capacity could not be improved when the oxyhydroxide Ni(OH)2 sample was directly used as the positive active materials. However, based on the conductance and residual capacity of the oxyhydroxide Ni(OH)2 powders, AA size Ni-MH battery with 2560 mA.h capacity and 407 W·h·L^-1 specific volume energy at 0.2C was obtained by using the commercial spherical β-Ni(OH)2 and AB5-type hydrogen-storage alloy powders as the active materials when 10% mass amount of the oxyhydroxide Ni(OH)2 with 2.50 valence was added to the positive active materials and subsequently the battery designing parameters were adjusted as well. The as-prepared battery showed 70% initial capacity after 80 cycles at 0.5C. The possibility for adjusting the capacity ratio of positive and negative electrodes from 1 : 1.35 to 1 : 1.22 was demonstrated preliminarily. It is considered the as-prepared battery can meet the requirement of some special portable electrical instruments. 展开更多

Environmental cleaning is an important aspect of bacteria control.Ethyl cellulose microcapsules containing potassium monopersulfate(PMCM)were prepared by emulsified solvent diffusion method.The chemical structure and microstructure of the obtained PMCM was characterized by methods of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),optical microscopy,scanning electron microscopy and X-ACT energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy.The SEM micrographs of the PMCM containing 21.6%of C,46.8%of O,10.7%of S and 19.4%of K was relatively smooth.Thermal stability,sustained release performance,and antimicrobial activity of PMCM were investigated.The results showed that the drug loading and encapsulation efficiency of PMCM were 30.3%and 42.6%respectively.Potassium monopersulfate was fully released after 8 h,following a Fickian diffusion mechanism.Results showed that the microcapsules prepared with a high concentration of potassium monopersulfate solution showed a good antimicrobial effect.The microcapsule wall of the resulting PMCM increased with increasing ethyl cellulose content and had high thermal stability from the data of 69%residue rate.The excellent thermal stability and high sustained release performance of PMCM showed high application value. 展开更多

The total base number (TBN) of overbased complex sulphonates decreased compared with that of magnesium sulphonate, while TBN of borated overbased complex sulphonate further decreased. The detergency, anti-oxidation and extreme pressure performances of overbased complex sulphonates were improved compared with those of overbased magnesium sulphonate; the anti-oxidation and extreme pressure performances of borated overbased complex sulphonates were further improved whereas its detergency was reduced. 展开更多

A simple and accurate high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)coupled with diode array detector(DAD)and evaporative light scattering detector(ELSD)was established for the determination of six bioactive compounds in Zhenqi Fuzheng preparation(ZFP).The monitoring wavelengths were 254,275 and 328 nm.Under the optimum conditions,good separation was achieved,and the assay was fully validated in respect of precision,repeatability and accuracy.The proposed method was successfully applied to quantify the six ingredients in 31 batches of ZFP samples and evaluate the variation by hierarchical cluster analysis(HCA),which demonstrated significant variations on the content of these compounds in the samples from different manufacturers with different preparation procedures.The developed HPLC method can be used as a valid analytical method to evaluate the intrinsic quality of this preparation. 展开更多

The various advantages of organic polymer monoliths, including relatively simple preparation processes,abundant monomer availability, and a wide application range of pH, have attracted the attention of chromatographers. Organic polymer monoliths prepared by traditional methods only have macropores and mesopores, and micropores of less than 50 nm are not commonly available. These typical monoliths are suitable for the separation of biological macromolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids, but their ability to separate small molecular compounds is poor. In recent years, researchers have successfully modified polymer monoliths to achieve uniform compact pore structures. In particular, microporous materials with pores of 50 nm or less that can provide a large enough surface area are the key to the separation of small molecules. In this review, preparation methods of polymer monoliths for high-performance liquid chromatography, including ultra-high cross-linking technology, post-surface modification, and the addition of nanomaterials, are discussed. Modified monolithic columns have been used successfully to separate small molecules with obvious improvements in column efficiency. 展开更多

Objective:To discuss and compare the plasma pharmacokinetics after three oral Panax notoginseng saponin(PNS)administrations in beagle dogs.PNS is the main active ingredient of the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)Panax notoginseng.Although its outstanding therapeutic efficacy has been demonstrated by various researchers,its broader application is restricted by the low bioavailability of PNS.Methods:An ultra-high performance liquid chromatographyetandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS/MS)method for the simultaneous quantification of notoginsenoside R1,ginsenoside Rg1,ginsenoside Rb1,ginsenoside Rd,and ginsenoside Re in beagle dog plasma was developed and validated.The plasma samples were subjected to liquideliquid extraction with acetone and methanol,and separated on an ACQUITY C18 column(100×2.1 mm ID,1.7 mm)using acetonitrile and water as the mobile phase with a run time of 4.5 min.Results:The analytes were detected without interference in Selected Reaction Monitoring mode with positive electrospray ionization.The validated method was successfully used in comparative pharmacokinetic studies of the five saponins in beagle dogs after oral administration of three PNS preparations.Blood samples were collected up to 192 h after administration and pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated using DAS 3.20 and SPSS 17.0.The AUC_(0-t)values of Re and R1 were significantly higher in soft capsules than in hard capsules.However,the AUC_(0-t)values between hard and soft capsules were not significantly different for the other three componentsdRb1,Rd and Rg1.Conclusion:Our intuitive analysis suggests that the bioavailability of PNS in soft capsules is greater than in hard capsules. 展开更多

To explore the effect of different additive combinations on double-low rapeseed cake (meal) utilization and layer production performance, we randomly divided 756 Roman brown shell layers around 50 weeks age into seven groups to detect production performance, of which group 1 was control group supplied with basic diet (added with 9% double-low rapeseed cake), while groups 2 -7 were experimental groups added with Chinese herbal medicine, enzyme preparation, pro- biotics and peptide antibiotics in basic diet. The results showed that group 4 added with Chinese herbal medicine + enzyme preparation + peptide antibiotics re- ceived the best effect, resulting in significantly increased laying rate (70.50%, P 〈 0.05 ), significantly reduced feed-egg ratio (2.46, P 〈 0.05 ), and extremely increased egg Haugh unit (P 〈0.01 ). This indicated that adding combination of Chinese herbal medicine + enzyme preparation + peptide antibiotics in layer bas- ic diet could improve egg production performance and egg quality of layers. 展开更多

[Objectives]To study the effects of fermented nano Chinese herbal medicines replacing antibiotics on the production performance and carcass quality of growing-finishing pigs.[Methods]200 healthy and disease-free Duroc-Landrace-Yorkshire(DLY)growing-finishing pigs with similar birth time(45±2 d)and body weight of about 31.5 kg were randomly divided into group A(fed with non-antibiotic basal diet),group B(fed with antibiotic basal diet),group C(fed with non-antibiotic basal diet+0.1%fermented nano Chinese herbal medicine preparation),group D(fed with non-antibiotic basal diet+0.3%fermented nano Chinese herbal medicine preparation)and group E(fed with non-antibiotic basal diet+0.5%fermented nano Chinese herbal medicine preparation).The experiment lasted for 90 d.At the end of the experiment,the production performance and carcass indicators were measured.[Results]Compared with group A,the final weight,average daily gain(ADG)and average daily feed intake(ADFI)of groups B,C,D and E were extremely significantly increased(P<0.01),while the feed-to-gain ratio(F/G)was extremely significantly decreased(P<0.01).Compared with group B,the ADG of group E was significantly increased(P<0.05),while the F/G was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Compared with group A,the slaughter rate and carcass length of pigs in groups B,C,D and E were extremely significantly increased(P<0.01);compared with group B,the slaughter rate of groups D and E was extremely significantly increased(P<0.01).[Conclusions]The fermented nano Chinese herbal medicine preparation has better effects in promoting growth than that of antibiotic additives,and it can significantly improve the carcass quality of growing-finishing pigs. 展开更多

A series of Li4Ti5O12 materials were prepared by three different methods: solvothermal, sol-gel, and solid-state reaction methods. Phase composition, morphology, and particle sizes of the samples were studied by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Electrochemical properties of the samples were investigated by charge-discharge tests. It is demonstrated that both sol-gel and solid-state reaction methods provided good control over the chemical composition and microstructure of the active material, in which sol-gel method yielded a fine Li4Ti5O12 spinel having an initial specific capacity of 146 mAh g-1 and low capacity fade during cycling. Comparatively, the solid-state method is simple and promising to prepare Li4Ti5O12 for commercial applications. 展开更多
